Located in ID Chinatown this place is the go to deli of my childhood. If you are looking for banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) look no further. This place is legit. They have hot foods, desserts, snacks, fresh bows / buns, fresh spring rolls, drinks and a parking lot. First of all free parking in ID is UNHEARD of, so I do not take this for granted. Prices are super affordable and they got a great selection of foods. My grandparents lived in ID and as a kid, we would always order banh mi sandwiches from here and eat them with our cousins in my grandparents apartment. The meat is very flavorful and the bread is a perfect consistency. Not too hard where it scratches the top of your mouth and not too soft so it gets swashed in your hand, french bread that they have is right in the middle. I also love their jelly desserts in the fridge section. Usually comes in a cup with green (pandan), brown (coffee) & white (coconut) layers! Perfect little to go treat! They also have selections of Chè - pink drink with lots of delicious jellies and fruits inside. Prepackaged sweet sticky rice is also available. I've heard really good things about this Vietnamese deli market from my friends, especially my Vietnamese friends. If they're saying these great things, it must be amazing, right? LOL. Well, I made it my mission to make a trip down here the first time I've heard about it. And have been returning since! It's located across of Pho Bac Sup and The Boat on S Jackson St in Little Saigon. There's a small parking lot on the side of the shop for customers to park at (thankfully). People can just come and go quickly without having to worry about parking! I've been here a few times to grab cheap Vietnamese eats such as their cha lua (pork rolls wrapped in banana leaves) and banh beo with either dried shrimp or mung beans. Ugh, soooo good. I especially loved their cha lua as I was able to cook or eat it with my other meals. There's a variety of premade snacks/foods, made-to-order banh mis, and hot foods. Quick and easy for a grab'n go experience! My most recent visit was to grab some banh mi as my boyfriend and I were doing a loooong road trip down to San Diego. I thought it would be the perfect meal during our trip down. And they were! I ordered the Banh Mi Thit Nguoi (three types of ham) and my boyfriend had the Banh Mi Thit Nuong (grilled pork). We weren't able to eat them fresh, but they were surprisingly still really good. Like crazy good. I can't imagine how great they'll taste fresh! Definitely hits my top five banh mi place I've been. The prices for banh mi everywhere else have been quite pricey but this shop makes deliciously cheap ones that were under $7! And they were huge! What a steal! We also got their shrimp summer rolls (or spring rolls, whatever the mainland calls it LOL), and they were also really good. Definitely a good choice for a road trip as the passenger can feed the driver LOL. I feel everything is here was delicious! Definitely the spot for quick grab'n go eats as many of the items offered aren't normally seen in restaurants. Came here thinking there would be lots of ready to go food options here but that was not the case. There was only springrolls which I ended up getting. I looked at their menu to see if there was other food options besides banh mi and it didn't seem like their was. There was the food behind the counter but I did not know what some of them were and they didn't not look so appealing. I wish there was more signage as to what was available and what they could provide besides banh mi. It seemed like some people knew how to order other things that I did not see available. As for the spring roll itself. It didn't seem fresh. The wrap was semi hard upon eating it as well as old green veggies seemed to have been used. Overall was not a fan of here. In one of my yelp posts, I talk about my son being autistic and this weighs HEAVILY on kindness and service when I go anywhere. This morning he was screamed at and almost hit just because he was near the bananas snack/food. My son did nothing wrong and was just standing there and he scared the shit out of him and he was shaking. And on top of that, how dare you try to lay your hands on a kid let alone one that's not yours? Then the person working there tried to hit my grandma only because my grandma was telling him not to talk to my son that way. Threatening to call the police when you're the one that's about to hurt a little one that doesn't know better is crazy. He have no ill intentions of that matter, he's only 4! Don't care about food, pricing as there's plenty of banh mi shops around the area (and better banh mis too). We used to go here just to support and it's nearby our work but this is now (obviously) ended. There's no way we need to go here when we were disrespected and the way my son and grandma was treated. Highly recommend for people to be careful going here IF you even go here. We are Vietnamese just as they are and this is just sad. I have always seen this place but have never gone in.... But yesterday I was craving a Bahn Mi and I went in here and I'm so glad I did! Everything they have here is so reasonably priced... it's insane! The food look delicious and there was a line of people in front of me getting food which I didn't expect! It's such a hole in the wall, I was wanting to give them business cause I didn't know if people went there! But to my delighted surprise, people do!!! And I encourage others to go! They have fridges for frozen food to buy, as well as freshly made food. You can get hot food, cold food, drinks, etc etc. Look at my photos! I ended up getting two tofu Bahn Mi's at $6.00 each. I love banh cuon so when I saw they had it here, I had to try. The prices here are outrageously cheap! My partner and I got a banh Mi and three trays of banh cuon and it was only $17. The banh Mi had so much flavor and was stuffed, though the bread was a little too toasted for our preference and did cut up the roof of our mouth a little bit. I loved the banh cuon! I got the shrimp and pork ones, and the fillings were so good, and I definitely didn't need to order 3 trays. I was pretty full after eating just one and a half. Saigon Deli has restored my beliefs that bahn mis should cost less than $5. Coming from Orange County, CA it was not hard to find a $3-4 bahn mi, or you just hit up the chain Mr. Lee's. But having been living in the Seattle area now for 3+ yrs, I have found food to be more expensive up here, and bahn mis run from $6-8 at most places I feel in the greater Seattle area. Well not Saigon Deli! They stick true to the typical bahn mi price. I got: - tofu bahn mi $3.75 - pork bahn mi $4 - chicken bahn mi $4 - egg rolls $0.75/each This place is not your sparkly clean hipster place, this place is your typical hole in the wall, it's probably been around forever, type of place. The sandwiches were delicious. Egg rolls could have been better, and I could have lived without them. But I did heat them up in the toaster oven when i got home, and they weren't bad. Saigon Deli is a great place for Vietnamese bites on the go. Located in Little Saigon, it's close to bus stops, the Streetcar and walking distance from the main hub of the International District. While walking around the area we decide to check out Saigon Deli for a snack. Snacks they have, and plenty more. Though the space isn't too large, it primarily serves as a takeout spot, with pre-packaged Vietnamese snacks and entrees on the table or you can order hot food for takeout. There is no seating inside. We visited on a Saturday in the late afternoon and there was a handful of items still available. My boyfriend and I each ordered a meatball skewer, which was only two bucks each. These meatballs were solid. You can tell they were hand-formed, as the balls were large in size and most of all, the flavor was delicious. You get three meatballs per skewer, so it's definitely a good snack if you just want some protein. Plus, it was easy to eat while walking around since the meatballs were stacked on a skewer. I would definitely be back hungry to check out other bites they serve, as it ranged from spring rolls with different meats, tofu, breads, etc... The prices were also very affordable here. They don't have a single ordering line and it can seem very unorganized when you go to order, but amazingly the workers keep track of who is there and who ordered what. Lunch box special is an incredible deal - got heaping portions of lemongrass chicken, prawns and pan fried noodles, all for $8.99, which easily should have been two lunch boxes. I'm never disappointed when I order a Bahn Mi from Saigon Deli. I'm willing to go out of my way to drive into ID just for their sandwiches as nothing compares in the East Side. Everytime I go there, they're always busy. You can't go wrong with the pricing too. All the sandwiches are under $5.50 including tax. My favorite is #3 with the combo meat and #1 with pork is good too. The bread and meat are all so tasty! One thing to be aware of is when you first walk in, there's no line system when you go to order. You will need to check who's up next and make sure to stay up front to give your order then move somewhere out of the way until they have your order ready to pay. If you've read any of the other reviews you know why. Saigon Deli is almost perfect. Number one reason: its cheap! I mean inexpensive. This little gem won't break your wallet or leave you hungry. The website (http://www.saigonvndeli.com/) hasn't been updated in a while, but ALL their sandwiches (bahn mi) are $4 +tax. Their bahn mi's are filled with grated pickled carrot and dikon, cucumber and jalapenos with your choice of filling. They have 13 varieties of sandwiches, plus over 20 different hot food to go items. I'm not too sure on the price of the hot food but its most likely under $10. There are a ton of other items you can pick up and buy to take home like bubble tea ($4), deep fried spring rolls, salad rolls, fried items and stews. But there is no place for you to sit and eat. It is strictly a take out deli. No gimmicks, no flair, just a simple and truly delicious place to pick up your food and go eat it in a park... or in your car, or at home. The area is changing though, so I'm worried to see what will happen to it when developers/the city decide what to do with it. But on the bright side there is lots of parking. They even do catering if you have an event. Go and give it a try. Even if the area is a bit seedy, you're bound to find something delicious. read more

Food is good and plentiful! It is also the best prices I've ever seen. Bun mi sandwich is $4.00 they also have a lot of other foods that was pre-made/packaged to grab on the go. And they have hot food bar as well. They have little rushes so it does get pretty busy. That being said definitely check your order before leaving! The only down side to my sandwich (which is my preference) I like my bread super toasted. The bread wasn't toasted. Also I didn't have that much pickled veggies. Sandwich - #1 when it's made fresh and warm is the best, the vegies inside is extremely fresh, has a blend of cucumber, carrots, green sweet peppers and daikon. I have gone to countless places and either they go too crazy on sauces or they just use different core ingredient that takes away the traditional Vietnamese sandwiches.... You get to see the chef behind the counter work with the fresh bake goods to make your sandwiches. I especially like the banh mi thit nuong and thit nuong or thit nuong dac biet. Get it lather it with Asian Mayo as well! It is sooooo different from American Mayo! Decadent. Rich. Creamy. Service can be rough... especially if your not use to the Asian/Vietnamese deli scene. You just have to jump in and order otherwise you might find yourself frustrated that your order was not being taken. Expect mostly Vietnamese and broken English but it be enough to place your order. I've gotten sticky rice catering from here twice and both times been extremely happy with it. First time was for my wedding and second time was for a party. I was nervous because these were big events, but they always were ready for pick up and reliable about execution. Their xoi gac (bright orange, sweet sticky rice) and their standard savory/ mung bean sticky rice is great. Tastes wonderful fresh and lasts several days for leftovers. The best thing from here though is their goi cuon nem nuong, or their spring rolls / salad rolls with grilled meatball. The texture is *perfect* and the filling is balanced. Price is reasonable. My favorite things to order from Saigon Deli (location: 1237 S Jackson st, Seattle WA 98144) include a grilled pork banh mi, sausage spring roll, and a banh tieu (Vietnamese hollow donut bread with sprinkle of sesame seeds on the outside) or Che Dau Trang (white bean Vietnamese dessert) as snacks! Their banh mi is the best and the cheapest in Seattle hands down. They've slightly increased their banh mi price a little bit over the past year, but it still averages out to be about $4 - $5 per sandwich which is still very cheap! I love the size and how the stuffing is just right! Banh mi is my favorite thing to pack for lunch, especially on hikes since it's not messy yet filling. There are a lot more food and snack options here for you to choose from. The beauty of Vietnamese food is that you can eat anything whenever you want!
