Never heard of this place? Me neither! But now you have no excuses, I'm telling you now. This is the MCC student culinary program restaurant, and it affords an opportunity to taste top notch dishes affordably. First off, the inside is classy, but not over the top. You can tell you're on a college campus prior to walking in obviously, but the inside feels similar to that of a mid-top level restaurant. Servers are in ties/slacks, white tablecloth, table settings...etc. Most of the patrons were in business casual-type (button up, polo, etc). You have two options here (at least when I visited), they have a static menu that is the same menu for all summer (salmon, steak, etc), but they also had a student designed tasting menu when I visited. This was an entire 5 course tasting menu designed by a student for their final program assignment. I went with the 5 course option (prix fixe). The 5 course option was $40, with wine pairing for $15. Not bad...not bad at all. Mine was cuban themed so it included a starter drink, 2 small courses, a main course, then dessert. There was also bread available at the table with some butters and oils for dipping. Overall, this place is an awesome option to try something new and not break the bank.

Did you know Metro Community College is ranked one of the best culinary schools in the country? Depending on the list, I've seen it ranked as #7 or #8! I love the concept of student-run fine dining at this restaurant. These students work hard to execute beautiful dishes, and their instructors run some of the nicest restaurants in town and source the best local ingredients. We've always had incredible service here. Some tips: - The best place to park is on the north side of the building where spots are marked with "Sage Student Bistro" signs. - Come for lunch for a casual experience. Come for dinner for a fancier night. - If you are coming for dinner, make reservations! It has been pretty popular since reopening after the pandemic. - Lunch recommendations: the duck fat tots and the bread pudding desserts (flavors are constantly changing). - Dinner recommendations: whatever the prixe fixe is - you can't beat the price of this 6-course meal! - The brewed coffee here is so addictively good and I always end up getting refills. - Their website and Facebook are the best resources for updates on the menu, which semesters they are open, and hours.

I've never been been here before but heard they offered these kinds of meals! The food and service were delicious small bites but I was surprised how filling they were! First time having duck did not disappoint the green mole was absolutely delicious! The taco was my favorite, made with a fresh tortilla! Location is beautiful and i loved that they explained the next meal as they brought it out!

Been here several times and I've loved all dishes, and without ever hearing these dishes before. Brought relatives for their first time and they were blown away by the experience. Highly recommend.

Okay - so I have been waiting for Sage Student Bistro to reopen and get a good inexpensive tasty meal. Went on a weekday - renovations were ongoing to the normal dining area so they had moved the tables out to a temporary area behind the stairs. A bit confusing at first. Staff was friendly and I enjoyed reviewing the new lunch menu for the semester. My server was okay, but just a tad slow and did not seem accustomed to waiting tables - course it is a school and this is a learning experience for them. Went with the drunken noodles with shrimp. When the dish came out it looked great, but when I got into it, I found the noodles to be undercooked - a few were still somewhat hard. I am used to al dente pasta, but this was beyond that. The shrimp had also been over cooked and there was very little sauce to pull the dish together. Unfortunately a disappointing experience. I didn't even finish the meal. Left and I was still hungry. Hopefully, they will do better next time.

Honestly more of a 3 1/2 stars but since I cannot do half stars I'll round it up due to the fact it is student chefs learning! We had reservations here on opening day after their summer break which we weren't aware of until we arrived. Perhaps that explained the 2 hour dinner for 4 people? They were definitely not busy so I'm curious if service is always so slow. I liked the setup of the restaurant. Cozy atmosphere, white tablecloths and nice décor. I really enjoyed the amuse-bouche (single bites on spoons) they brought out prior to our dinner. It consisted of cucumber, goat cheese and herbs that worked great together. We ordered the charcuterie for an appetizer which came out with toasted bread, radishes, house cured meats, cheeses, black garlic aioli etc. Very different and unique. We all ordered something different ranging from Rabbit Ragout, Short Ribs and Salt Cured Salmon. My guess is the rabbit is what made our wait so long for dinner as that dish came out steaming hot and our 2 dishes of Short Rib were room temperature at best which ruined the dish a bit. Although the short rib was very tender it would have been more enjoyable if hot or even warm. Aside from that all dishes were enjoyed but unsure anything was over the top. It was also a nice touch that they brought out 4 mini sweet desserts, each enough for one bite after dinner. Only downside was each one was only enough for one person so everyone had to decide which one they wanted. We also ordered additional desserts to try that were different. The fruit crème brulee was enjoyed and we also ordered some type of s'mores dessert that was different. On the fence if that was enjoyable as the cubed marshmallow was not warm and a bit off putting. Overall I'm glad I was able to finally visit this restaurant. I saw other reviewers saying they enjoy sitting in front of the windows overlooking the kitchen to watch the chefs cook. I would have loved this but never saw these windows nor did my dining partners. Maybe because we were seated in a corner booth right by the entrance which was also odd considering we were the first customers to arrive on this night.

This is an awesome place to experience fine dining at a fraction of the price. You are waited on and fed by students in the college's culinary program, so be forgiving if the waiter isn't the most professional. After all, you are getting a 6 or so course meal for about $30. For dinner, you get a variety of bread with Sage butter on the side and have a choice of al la carte or pre fixe dining. Always just go with the pre fixe. You can't beat the price, and it's a good experience. The execution of the food isn't always perfect, but it does always look great. The food is typically very satisfying and enough to fill you up. Definitely give this place a shot.

This is a pretty unique dining experience- more fun than your average restaurant and the prix fixed menu is not a bad deal. I loved the caramel miso dessert. Wine and beer is also reasonable- great for a night out with friends.

Went there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and timeliness of the meal. Everything is student run and the prices are very reasonable. I had the Coq Au Vin recommended by the waiter and duck fat tots. The chicken was very soft and had a nice sauce served with it. The duck tots have a nice crunch and have larger pieces of potato than frozen tots while still crisp. The mashed potatoes were a little plain and the green beans with the chicken were too, but overall a really nice meal with great service. Would recommend checking it out if you see the menu changing regularly. Didn't get a dessert this time but I'll have to save room next visit.

11-3-2021; fine dining at its best! This is a culinary school and they have very limited lunch and dinner hours along with the number of seats available. You will not find a better option at an affordable price!

After a miscommunication with a friend, I ended up having a very nice solo lunch at Sage. Quinoa Pilaf with plenty of vegetables and a nice accompaniment of pine nuts with toasted pita bread topped with a nicely executed filet of salmon. They also can accomidate 'to go' orders, which I might partake in given the drive time for workday lunches. Next up, hands on dinner!

The duck was cooked perfectly and the bok choy that came with it added a perfect amount of crunch and mustard flavor. The tagliatelle was rich and the variety of mushrooms in the sauce added so much umami. We look forward to returning!

Unfortunately after driving to the Ooh De Lally we were immediately turned away citing the no pet policy. I politely showed the hostess their listing and was directed to speak with a manager and I politely declined stating it was not needed. It's unfortunate that a business has full control over the information contained there and would be appropriate to update the information to prevent future patrons from being misled. After the rejection, there isn't a need for a future return. It would have only been decent customer service since the information was misleading to accommodate us, keeping in mind the pet was a 5.2lb 16 year old chihuahua that has cataracts, calm and making a stir while checking in and the patio only had one other table. The hostess felt the only recourse was to point me to a sign which I wasn't sure where it was because it didn't matter at this point, she stated her policy. I kindly referred her to the online info, and pulled the info up for her. We drove to dine and again, to create a future customer the choice was to instead decline and send us away. She did ask if he was a service animal but was not gonna take that away from a true service animal. Hopefully this place makes the needed corrections and unfortunately our experience will be how this was handled. Yes, I see the follow up from the restaurant and our decision to not return seems fit based on the "Owner" response. Good customer service would have been reflected in the response acknowledging more than just how "Frustrating" it was for us. No, being truly sincere would have been we appreciate your business and apologize for the inconvenience. Please here is 10% off your next meal or dessert is on us, please come back. We certainly don't care about the 10% but it's about the true understanding and apparently this is not the goal of the "owner". The effort as such would have prompted us to give another try. With the lack of effort to even bring a customer back speaks volumes. 2026 Omaha made changes for restaurants regarding pets and the disregard to an error and the drive we made apparently holds little to this establishment.

Most of the highlight was the various types of burgers and fries they had, so my partner and I got two kinds, and we both enjoyed our respective meals. I had the block burger, which was as good as I imagined it to be, with juicy patty cooked to medium and every ingredient needed to make a good burger. The poutine had a lot of beef gravy and cheese curds, which made the dish a comprehensive experience to consume, rather than just fries. The duck duck goose fries were amazing! The duck confit, cheese curds, mayo, gravy, and gooseberry gastrique combination worked super well on top of the fries, because they altogether basically made it a gourmet dish that I had to eat with a fork. Finally, the sloppy nick was seasoned very well, even if we got the vegan version, which used impossible meat instead of ground beef. It was still really great! Hope everyone who visits Omaha gets to try this spot! Their wall has quite a few articles that recognized them as a locally renowned burger joint, and I could see why. Since they can be busy, I would recommend people getting there earlier to secure a good table spot, if dining in.

I also checked out their menu and noticed it was definitely a unique, interesting menu. Upon walking in, there was a line backed up to the door and I waited in it about 15 mins and it didn't move one person, but I used this time to check out the menu and decide what I wanted. After noticing the line not moving and the cashier in heavy discussion with the family that was there placing their order, I felt it might be best to use their online ordering for carryout pickup instead. While doing this, the line moved up once and I suppose that next party had questions too and of course, plenty of time was spent answering those questions. This might seem like good service, but when the line is that long, either have more people there taking orders or use a kiosk for those of us who don't need to ask questions, or remind guests that there are many others in line (probably after the first 5 mins of discussing the menu) and the line needs to move up. After I placed my order, it told me it was accepted and gave me a time range of when to expect my order. I sat down and waited until the end of that range, which was only a few mins, and then went back up to the pick up area to ask about my order. The lady working was very friendly when I explained what I did. She gave me a number and told me she'd bring my order out, she also gave me the drink I pre-ordered. A few mins later, she brought my food out. I looked around to notice that people who were waiting for food prior to me still hadn't gotten their food. I'm not sure if it's always this slow in there or if it was busy because there's a conference in town. Opening the clamshell that my food was in - I noticed a beautiful sandwich and fries. The fries were piping hot and crispy and tasted great. The sandwich looked really nice, but when I went to pick it up, I noticed the entire bottom was soaked in grease and their hot sauce that was on the chicken. So, I fork & knifed this meal. The flavors of all the parts of the sandwich together were nice, just wish I could have picked it up without being a mess. If I ever returned, I'd get something different.

Ok the other hand, the service is rather iffy & unpredictable. The chicken & waffles is my go-to for each visit, and they have many types of delicious sides to choose from, with my favorites being the biscuits & berries, goat cheese grits, and also the fried green tomatoes. I have zero problems with the food that they serve here, they always do an excellent job at preparing whatever they need to prepare & the portions are always satisfactory. As for the service, there are days where you will receive perfect service while on others the service is not so great. Some days you will be attended to in a timely manner, while there is other days where there isn't anyone available or willing to seat you somewhere. I've also experienced instances where they didn't attend to our table to take orders until I made a complaint. Most of these instances were during days where the place was virtually empty so it's not because of the place being busy. I've also ordered take out from here before, again some instances are perfect and there's other instances where they don't tell you if a certain food is out of stock via text or call so if you ordered something that isn't in stock, you're forced to wait for them to prepare something else once you arrive to pick up your order. They also don't always include syrup or butter in the takeout bags for chicken & waffles. One minor thing I'm also disappointed about is how the portion of grits has lessened over time, going from being served in a bowl to instead being served in a small cup/mug. Overall, I certainly don't return for the service because you never really know if it's going to be a good day or a bad day for that. It's always the food that brings me back. I do want to like this place, and I do to an extent but again the service is always unpredictable. I'd still say the food is worth coming here to see how it goes.

My only complaint (and it's a small but sad one) is that they no longer serve entrées. I miss when Mercury had a full food menu -- their pasta and burger were truly underrated. These days, you'll only find light bar snacks, which pair well with the cocktails but don't quite replace a meal. Still, for creative cocktails, a stylish atmosphere, and great service, Mercury remains one of the best spots downtown.

We wondered if we'd need a reservation, but it's much more casual than that, so none is necessary. The menu has a few entrees, handhelds, appetizers, and salads. The night we were there, one dessert was available as well. I should have taken a picture of the menu, but it is one page and a bit abbreviated from the one I saw at ZMenu and on Facebook. The bartender was the server for the bar and all the tables, but was able to keep up pretty well. We each ordered a glass of wine and they didn't have that one, so he upgraded us at no additional charge. For dinner, I got the Chicken BLT - it was very tasty, with fresh avocado, tasty bacon, fresh tomatoes (in March in Nebraska!), and tender grilled chicken. My wife got the Rice Bowl and added Salmon, Also, very fresh, tasty, and flavorful. Prices are on the high side, but not unexpected for a nice hotel. The rice bowl with salmon was $24 and my sandwich was $22. The wine selection was good, and they had a decent hard alcohol array as well. Wines were about the retail price of a bottle for each glass, and martinis and drinks were around $16. Service was good. Definitely worth a visit if you're staying here or to stop in for a casual bite to eat.
