The Orleans Room is my go-to for brunch, mimosas, and any opportunity to have a girls day lunch date. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but it is beautifully nestled in the Cottonwood Hotel, which is arguably the prettiest boutique hotel in Omaha. The service is relatively fast, and I have always had great experiences with attentive and knowledgeable waiters, who have recommended drinks to me before, all of which have been hits. I adore a mimosa, and the Orleans Room delivers every time. Their mocktails are also a great alternative. My go-to meal is the Reuben, which they are known for as the creators of the OG Reuben sandwich, and it shows. The sandwich is amazing; I don't think I can even have one elsewhere as they don't seem to compare. Everyone I have brought, whether my mom, grandma, or girl friends, has enjoyed every time we spend here as well. Our daughter and I were visiting Omaha from Oregon for a concert, but I read that the Orleans Room was the place that the Reuben Sandwich was created. It was phenomenal. We love a great Reuben, and the Orleans Room version is that good. It is now tied with the Goose Hallow Inn from Portland that we have enjoyed twice. The greeting at the front was slow. There were only three tables in the dining room, and our server and someone else were conversing in the bar area. After we were finally sat, our daughter wanted Rose by the glass. I noticed the price of the glass was $15, but the bottle was $28? So of course we ordered the bottle. It was a perfect mid-afternoon treat. The server Lainey, was friendly, but it seemed to take too long to receive the bottle of wine. The Reuben...wow. The corned beef was so good and tender. The french fries were coated and remained hot and crisp thru the meal. The 1000 dressing is house made and terrific. The Sandwich alone leads me to give the Orleans Room 5 stars. We were also impressed by the approachability and friendliness of the GM, Mr. Johnson, and the Exec. Chef, Brandon. The General Manager told us of the great history of the Orleans Room and the former President's that had frequented the hotel, which is owned by Kimpton. We will definitely return to the Orleans Room for another Reuben on our next trip to Omaha. read more

Very beautiful dinning area that was a fun experience. They have a limited menu, but we were satisfied with the drunken margarita flatbread and the beef carbonnade. The beef was tender and the whipped potatoes were very creamy. The drink menu is very limited as well, but they offer all the classic cocktails and have a decently stocked bar. The service was not exceptionally fast and hotel guests were not particularly friendly since we were there for just dinner, and not a hotel stay. Make sure to get a reservation! My husband and I had been excited to visit The Orleans Room for quite a while because he's a huge fan of Reuben sandwiches, and they are one of the locations in the US claiming to have created it. The decor and design of The Orleans room is gorgeous, wth green, pinks, art deco touches, and little pops of color everywhere. I really liked the tile on the floor, which was black and white and in a cool, upcale pattern. We visited around noon on a weekday, and the tables inside were pretty empty for it being prime time for lunch in a pretty busy area, but we were one of only about four tables that had people at them. You would think that would mean we would be checked on constantly, being that we were so few people dining there, but it was the opposite in our case. We were seated, given water, and then forgotten about and did not see a server for almost 20 minutes. We noticed an attendant bringing to the kitchen a bunch of empty plates and trays, like most of their staff is working on the room service side of things, but that should not impact the people eating in the actual restaurant (but it definitely did). When we did finally get to order, the food was mostly fantastic, so I can semi-forgive the service lacking a little. My husband got his Reuben and it was fantastic (I had a few bites). The corned beef, sauerkraut, and swiss cheese were all chopped up together so you get a bit in each bite (and not the pully, annoying sauerkraut or big chunks of meat) and the mustard and thousand island made it perfect. I am not a Reuben fan normally, but I would definitely order this for myself. I had The Big Easy sandwich and it was heavenly. Almost like a cuban sandwich, with its ham, pickle, cheese, and mustard - and my favorite part: it was on a croissant bun. Not a croissant itself, but a sandwich bread that was the same style as a croissant. Genius! We also got the Lobster Deviled Eggs, and this was the one piece of food that was disappointing. The eggs were set on a very strong mustard base with the lobster on top, so my first bite, the mustard was all I tasted really. A little bit of the lobster fell off on my plate, so I scooped it up to eat it by itself and then I tasted that it was VERY fishy, like it had turned completely. My husband tasted it too and agreed, so we did not eat any more of the eggs. Our server didn't seem to care too much about the bad lobster and said they would let the chef know, but didn't seem too concerned about feeding us bad lobster. We even said "I hope we don't get sick" and the server laughed and said "yeah, me either!" It seems The Orleans Room focused more on the decor and vibe (which was admittedly amazing) and on some of the food offerings, but ignored other food quality and the service for those dining in the restaurant in favor of those ordering from their rooms. read more

This is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Blackstone. The vibes, the food, the service - it's all fantastic. I stopped by layer in the evening with my mom. I had the sweet corn bisque and my mom had the Cobb salad. They were both large enough to share and packed with so much flavor. I would happily order both of these items again. We came here for brunch on Sunday at 12 o'clock. It's located in downtown in the Cottonwood Hotel. Hotel is cute and has an antique flare. Right past the check-in desk is the Orleans room. We were seated promptly and I ordered coffee and the smoked salmon Benedict. My daughter ordered the French omelette. Coffee was OK, tasted a little bit on the watery side. Food came out relatively quickly. It was nice that they have gluten-free bread. My daughter seemed to enjoy her omelette. The smoked salmon Benedict was just OK. It comes with a side of fresh fruit. I was expecting it to be the cold, smoked salmon, but it had a little of a weird mushy taste which was unexpected. Not the most enjoyable so I only ate one. I think the most disappointing thing about brunch was the service. After our food arrived, our waitress never returned to our table. Did not check on us, refill our water. We ran out of coffee and had to actually wave her down to get refills and also extra creamer. After bringing our check, I asked her for a box to take home the rest of my smoked salmon Benedict. She said she would bring me a takeout box, but she never did. I ended up having to go to the back kitchen to request a box on my own. Also, there was a 23% tip that's already added onto your bill. What a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. We stopped in after an event to grab a bite and the staff were so welcoming. Loved the flavor of the sweet corn bisque with the addition of 2 coconut shrimp on the side! This was a hearty soup! The Cottonwood Cobb was delicious and quite large. More than enough for 2 people. I think my wife has created a new addiction on my behalf because now that's all I can think about is their Ruben. We have now been to Orleans Room twice and it has become one of our favorite brunch spots in Omaha! First and foremost, we are big fans of advance reservations and we appreciate that you can get Resy reservations! Second, the historic Blackstone hotel is a gorgeous setting for any meal! Even just coming for an everyday brunch meal, it feels like an elevated/upscale vibe. We especially loved all of the Christmas decor this last visit. Gorgeous! And, most importantly, the food is amazing! We each got different meals this last visit and loved everything! We all started out with local coffee and appreciated the bottomless mugs of coffee! My mom got the eggs Benedict with pork belly and loved it. So flavorful and creative! My dad got the Rachel sandwich and loved the lighter Turkey take on the Reuben. My husband got the Reuben and really enjoyed the decadent flavors. I got the Reuben hash and (honestly) thought I got the best deal. Not only did I get the chunks of house smoked Reuben meat, but I got potato hash with fried Brussels sprouts and a sweet/savory gravy. What more could you want? The restaurant has a relatively diverse dinner menu and a great atmosphere for a date, catching up with friends, or grabbing a nightcap. Drinks - they have a great cocktail list. We did mocktails because we are doing 75 hard, and they were able to make almost all the drinks with an NA version. Clientele - the clientele is some of the more well-to-do people in Omaha. Between the reputation of the hotel and being close to Berkshire Hathaway, the bar at the end of the night attracts an interesting and eclectic group. So, the chats at the bar are pretty memorable. Pro Tip - it is a great place to go. But, the price point makes it an interesting trade-off compared to other spots in town. Why not 5 stars? - It is a solid place but not somewhere that you Must go. On a recent sat at the Cottonwood Hotel, I dined in the Orleans Room twice and both were super enjoyable experiences in their own right. First of all, the ambiance, decor, and interior design of this bar/restaurant is lovely. They did a wonderful job making it modern but swanky. It's bright and airy in the daytime but low-lit and cozy in the darker hours of the day. On a Saturday night, my friend and I sat at the bar and had a few cocktails and some dinner. Shout out to bartender Austin for the well-made drinks and great hospitality. We had spicy margs and espresso martinis. Both delicious, though not inexpensive. For dinner we had the crab cakes and upon recommendation, the rachel (aka reuben). Apparently this is the birthplace of the reuben so that's cool. The rachel was made up of honey-smoked turkey (yum), sauerkraut, 1000 island, and gruyère cheese. A great combo all atop toasted sourdough. Oh and side of fries, of course. Though my friend didn't loveee it, I personally really enjoyed this sammie. In the morning we ate in the other side of the Orleans Room, which is made to have a very cute little cafe feel. It's all one room, but partially divided so it really felt like a separate space. My friend loved the breakfast burger and I'd say the blackstone omelette was A-ok. Not sure I'd need to order that again, but it did it's job. You're certainly paying hotel-prices to eat and drink here, but the overall experience was worth it. Lance was great. Let's start there. He was my waiter, and he made a great recommendation. My employer paid for my breakfast so I went down to get something to eat at 6:45 but then learned the restaurant didn't open until 7 but I was in a time crunch because I had to leave for work at 7:30. Lance had us take a seat, got us menus, and got us some water by 6:55. He took our order by 7:00 and our food was out in front of us by 7:09. I got the power bowl and some hot tea. The serving size of the food had me full and satisfied and I had lemon and honey with my hot tea, it was the perfect start to my day and I finished my meal by 7:25. Sounds like they really do a good job getting their entertainers. They also had a nice menu of original cocktails. I ended up going with a gimlet, which was prepared perfectly. The sole reason I visited here was to experience the Blackstone Reuben sandwich, which I have heard good things about. Yes, the sandwich was invented in this very building many years ago! It is my favorite sandwich by far. The Orleans Room has the misfortune of being across the street from the Crescent Moon, which has the best Reuben sandwich in town and perhaps the world. The Orleans take, like the Crescent Moon, features real, legitimate corned beef brisket. Not the deli stuff. It also features a little mustard, which was a nice touch. It was very good but not up to the Crescent Moon. I'm not sure Gruyère cheese works for this sandwich as well as Swiss. Could that make a significance difference, I wonder. Went there to meet a few friends over brunch. We made the mistake of going between breakfast and lunch. There is clearly a period of time between both meals so they can reset. We go there just before 10:30 and they said they had to setup for lunch. We patiently waited until 11, went back, and was told they were waiting for breakfast patrons to finish. Fast forward to 11:30 and we finally got seated. There was one server so it was a bit slow. No worries, it allowed for us to catch up. I'd just be cautious and make sure you have plenty of time. Food and the beautiful decor are what made this a nice experience. I had the Reuben of the sea. Flaky salmon, creamy Boursin, and purple cabbage served on a bagel. So delicious! The truffle fries were also delicious! I'll likely be back. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that we went on a weekday. I hope the weekend service is a bit better. read more

As you do when at this joint, I ordered a Reuben sandwich with truffle fries. I've never had a Reuben that I felt necessitated a return trip, but the first thing I told my wife today when we talked was that we needed to go to the Orleans Room tomorrow because she HAS to try this Reuben. It was just a very well executed classic burger; cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle. I loved that the bun didn't fall apart despite the sandwich being adequately juicy. The fries though?? WOW. Went there for breakfast on Sunday. Two of four orders came out wrong. One came early and one seemed to be missing entirely. Avocado toast came out with an overcooked egg (ordered over easy) but replaced with a pretty undercooked sunny side up. Another order came with two wrong sides and over easy eggs that were overcooked. Pancakes (brought out ten minutes before all the other mistakes) were "about the worst I've ever had") were cold, chewy, "tasted like flour" and didn't come with butter. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, but I made the mistake of salting the side of potatoes before I tasted them. My mistake. Service was more than satisfactory. Thankfully we were with out of town friends and we did not feel rushed at all. They were able to seat us in the adjacent area to the main which did not have the unbelievably loud music (for a Sunday brunch at 10:00 on a Sunday morning). This might have been a one star review had we not previously had excellent Rueben sandwiches on a previous visit. But even then the "background" music made conversation difficult. My sister's family wanted to dine here for Easter brunch following church services. We had a reservation for 8 and were seated on time, even a few minutes early. I haven't been to The Cottonwood since the remodeling and reopening. It's a beautiful place with an art deco vibe. Would definitely recommend staying here. The bathrooms were very swanky and nice. We each ordered something different. I chose the Reuben Hash which consisted of corned beef, brussels sprouts, red kraut, lyonnaise potatoes, 1000 Island, and a sunny side up egg on top. The presentation was lovely and the taste was good. The only drawback was that the corned beef was a bit fatty for my liking. It would have been fantastic with a bit better cut of meat. The service was great and our waiter was gracious to take our family photo of the table. A 20% gratuity is automatically added for parties of 6 or more. This is a great choice for a special occasion or romantic brunch. I look forward to trying it again sometime only I'll order something different.
