Finally got to try the Reuben and it definitely lived up to the hype! (Liked it better than the reuben from Crescent Moon, which is also good.) I ordered the single and it was plenty of food. It came with fries, which were crispy and delicious, making for a great meal. If you've been thinking about trying the Reuben at the Orleans Room, I'd definitely recommend it. Looking forward to coming back to try more of the menu!
My husband and I had been excited to visit The Orleans Room for quite a while because he's a huge fan of Reuben sandwiches, and they are one of the locations in the US claiming to have created it. The decor and design of The Orleans room is gorgeous, wth green, pinks, art deco touches, and little pops of color everywhere. I really liked the tile on the floor, which was black and white and in a cool, upcale pattern. We visited around noon on a weekday, and the tables inside were pretty empty for it being prime time for lunch in a pretty busy area, but we were one of only about four tables that had people at them. You would think that would mean we would be checked on constantly, being that we were so few people dining there, but it was the opposite in our case. We were seated, given water, and then forgotten about and did not see a server for almost 20 minutes. We noticed an attendant bringing to the kitchen a bunch of empty plates and trays, like most of their staff is working on the room service side of things, but that should not impact the people eating in the actual restaurant (but it definitely did). When we did finally get to order, the food was mostly fantastic, so I can semi-forgive the service lacking a little. My husband got his Reuben and it was fantastic (I had a few bites). The corned beef, sauerkraut, and swiss cheese were all chopped up together so you get a bit in each bite (and not the pully, annoying sauerkraut or big chunks of meat) and the mustard and thousand island made it perfect. I am not a Reuben fan normally, but I would definitely order this for myself. I had The Big Easy sandwich and it was heavenly. Almost like a cuban sandwich, with its ham, pickle, cheese, and mustard - and my favorite part: it was on a croissant bun. Not a croissant itself, but a sandwich bread that was the same style as a croissant. Genius! We also got the Lobster Deviled Eggs, and this was the one piece of food that was disappointing. The eggs were set on a very strong mustard base with the lobster on top, so my first bite, the mustard was all I tasted really. A little bit of the lobster fell off on my plate, so I scooped it up to eat it by itself and then I tasted that it was VERY fishy, like it had turned completely. My husband tasted it too and agreed, so we did not eat any more of the eggs. Our server didn't seem to care too much about the bad lobster and said they would let the chef know, but didn't seem too concerned about feeding us bad lobster. We even said "I hope we don't get sick" and the server laughed and said "yeah, me either!" It seems The Orleans Room focused more on the decor and vibe (which was admittedly amazing) and on some of the food offerings, but ignored other food quality and the service for those dining in the restaurant in favor of those ordering from their rooms.
The Orleans Room is my go-to for brunch, mimosas, and any opportunity to have a girls day lunch date. Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but it is beautifully nestled in the Cottonwood Hotel, which is arguably the prettiest boutique hotel in Omaha. The service is relatively fast, and I have always had great experiences with attentive and knowledgeable waiters, who have recommended drinks to me before, all of which have been hits. I adore a mimosa, and the Orleans Room delivers every time. Their mocktails are also a great alternative. My go-to meal is the Reuben, which they are known for as the creators of the OG Reuben sandwich, and it shows. The sandwich is amazing; I don't think I can even have one elsewhere as they don't seem to compare. Everyone I have brought, whether my mom, grandma, or girl friends, has enjoyed every time we spend here as well. The vibes are immaculate, the food is spectacular, and the ambiance is always upscale and classy.
Very beautiful dinning area that was a fun experience. They have a limited menu, but we were satisfied with the drunken margarita flatbread and the beef carbonnade. The beef was tender and the whipped potatoes were very creamy. The drink menu is very limited as well, but they offer all the classic cocktails and have a decently stocked bar. The service was not exceptionally fast and hotel guests were not particularly friendly since we were there for just dinner, and not a hotel stay. Make sure to get a reservation! It also may be hard to find on your first time here, but it's in the back right side of the hotel lobby.
The origin of the Reuben sandwich at the Cottonwood's cozier eatery was a great experience. The vibe was 20s chic with an open outdoor spot and gorgeous velvet chairs. We went for an early dinner/late lunch and service was still good.
This is truly one of my favorite restaurants in Blackstone. The vibes, the food, the service - it's all fantastic. I stopped by layer in the evening with my mom. I had the sweet corn bisque and my mom had the Cobb salad. They were both large enough to share and packed with so much flavor. I would happily order both of these items again. Our server was also so kind and attentive, making our experience even better. Overall, this is a great spot to stop for an upscale bite to eat in a date or with girlfriends!
Went to the Orleans Room for their high tea experience and it was super lovely. The atmosphere of this room is such a vibe and perfect for tea and socializing. It is pricey but a fun treat for a special occasion. The service was very attentive and the food was tasty albeit small- but that's how it goes for tea time.
Our daughter and I were visiting Omaha from Oregon for a concert, but I read that the Orleans Room was the place that the Reuben Sandwich was created. It was phenomenal. We love a great Reuben, and the Orleans Room version is that good. It is now tied with the Goose Hallow Inn from Portland that we have enjoyed twice. The greeting at the front was slow. There were only three tables in the dining room, and our server and someone else were conversing in the bar area. After we were finally sat, our daughter wanted Rose by the glass. I noticed the price of the glass was $15, but the bottle was $28? So of course we ordered the bottle. It was a perfect mid-afternoon treat. The server Lainey, was friendly, but it seemed to take too long to receive the bottle of wine. The Reuben...wow. The corned beef was so good and tender. The french fries were coated and remained hot and crisp thru the meal. The 1000 dressing is house made and terrific. The Sandwich alone leads me to give the Orleans Room 5 stars. We were also impressed by the approachability and friendliness of the GM, Mr. Johnson, and the Exec. Chef, Brandon. The General Manager told us of the great history of the Orleans Room and the former President's that had frequented the hotel, which is owned by Kimpton. We will definitely return to the Orleans Room for another Reuben on our next trip to Omaha.
We came here for brunch on Sunday at 12 o'clock. It's located in downtown in the Cottonwood Hotel. Hotel is cute and has an antique flare. Right past the check-in desk is the Orleans room. We were seated promptly and I ordered coffee and the smoked salmon Benedict. My daughter ordered the French omelette. Coffee was OK, tasted a little bit on the watery side. Food came out relatively quickly. It was nice that they have gluten-free bread. My daughter seemed to enjoy her omelette. The smoked salmon Benedict was just OK. It comes with a side of fresh fruit. I was expecting it to be the cold, smoked salmon, but it had a little of a weird mushy taste which was unexpected. Not the most enjoyable so I only ate one. I think the most disappointing thing about brunch was the service. After our food arrived, our waitress never returned to our table. Did not check on us, refill our water. We ran out of coffee and had to actually wave her down to get refills and also extra creamer. After bringing our check, I asked her for a box to take home the rest of my smoked salmon Benedict. She said she would bring me a takeout box, but she never did. I ended up having to go to the back kitchen to request a box on my own. Also, there was a 23% tip that's already added onto your bill. So just be aware of that when dining here.
What a beautiful place to enjoy a meal. We stopped in after an event to grab a bite and the staff were so welcoming. Loved the flavor of the sweet corn bisque with the addition of 2 coconut shrimp on the side! This was a hearty soup! The Cottonwood Cobb was delicious and quite large. More than enough for 2 people. The chicken was an actual chicken breast sliced which I loved instead of the cubed kind a Cobb typically has. Plenty of avocado and blue cheese crumbles. We will for sure be back.
The Orleans Room is a little hidden gem of a restaurant. Nestled inside the gorgeous Cottonwood Hotel you can find the home of the Reuben. No really it is! But they are serving up more than Reuben's. The salads are so scrumptious and the deviled eggs have me coming back for more. If you're looking for a new casual lunch spot, this is your go-to. Lance is an awesome server and Ali is an amazing supervisor and they are led by the incredible Jamie! Overall such a great team, they'll take care of you.
We've been here twice now, and neither time disappointed us. First time we stopped was to try their famous Reuben that was delicious! It was the perfect combination ofcorned beef, sauerkraut, and dressing. Hands-down the best Reuben in my opinion! The second time around I opted for the Monte Cristo sandwich since they ran out of Reubens. The Monte Cristo was very good, but I didn't love the thick slices of ham along with the thick bread. I enjoyed their drink menu, and I highly recommend their hot Cocoa flight on the cold winter days.
I had never had a Reuben until my wife said we should do the great Reuben debate in Blackstone. We made the mistake of starting here first, and I say that because it was the best. I think my wife has created a new addiction on my behalf because now that's all I can think about is their Ruben. We visited with the manager and the assistant manager during this visit, and they were both super friendly. The dining room is gorgeous with its original flooring and restoration. I definitely wanna come back to stay in the hotel, probably eat another Reuben, and enjoy drinks with my wife sometime soon.

The Orleans Room is located inside the Cottonwood Hotel. It is home of the original Reuben so by default, that is what I tried for lunch! The Reuben was delicious but the sweet corn bisque was not my favorite thing. I would recommend coming to try the original Reuben and make sure to check out the story in the basement! Located inside the beautiful Cottonwood hotel. I came to grab lunch around noon on a Thursday. I was seated immediately without a reservation but I could see how one might be needed on a weekend. I ordered The Rachel, made with turkey instead of the corned beef of a Reuben. Served with a side of fries and a pickle spear. I love pickles but this pickle tasted odd, closer to a butter pickle than a dill. The fries were delicious, I believe they are twice fried making a wonderful crunchy exterior and fluffy interior. The Rachel was fine. The rye bread tasted a bit stale, and the turkey was centered in the sandwich to make the cut cross section look loaded but then making 1/3 on each half just bread. Minimal sauerkraut and very little thousand island made it pretty dry. Based on the food would have rated my experience lower but I've had The Rachel before and it was amazing so this must have been an off day. Restaurant is decorated in a beautiful color palette. The mustard plush benches are pretty but not plush, I learned the hard way as I plopped down. It was surprisingly muggy inside the restaurant for a 70 degree day. The service was adequate and the restaurant and hotel were stunning as always. read more

We have now been to Orleans Room twice and it has become one of our favorite brunch spots in Omaha! First and foremost, we are big fans of advance reservations and we appreciate that you can get Resy reservations! Second, the historic Blackstone hotel is a gorgeous setting for any meal! Even just coming for an everyday brunch meal, it feels like an elevated/upscale vibe. We especially loved all of the Christmas decor this last visit. Gorgeous! And, most importantly, the food is amazing! We each got different meals this last visit and loved everything! We all started out with local coffee and appreciated the bottomless mugs of coffee! My mom got the eggs Benedict with pork belly and loved it. So flavorful and creative! My dad got the Rachel sandwich and loved the lighter Turkey take on the Reuben. My husband got the Reuben and really enjoyed the decadent flavors. I got the Reuben hash and (honestly) thought I got the best deal. Not only did I get the chunks of house smoked Reuben meat, but I got potato hash with fried Brussels sprouts and a sweet/savory gravy. What more could you want? Service has always been top notch, the ambiance is always high class, and the space is very clean/chic. We officially LOVE Orleans Room and look forward to many more future visits! read more
Vibe | Drinks | Clientele Vibe - Overall, the place has a great hotel restaurant feel. The spot is ideal. The bar is vintage and has a great staff that can make various drinks. The restaurant has a relatively diverse dinner menu and a great atmosphere for a date, catching up with friends, or grabbing a nightcap. Drinks - they have a great cocktail list. We did mocktails because we are doing 75 hard, and they were able to make almost all the drinks with an NA version. Clientele - the clientele is some of the more well-to-do people in Omaha. Between the reputation of the hotel and being close to Berkshire Hathaway, the bar at the end of the night attracts an interesting and eclectic group. So, the chats at the bar are pretty memorable. Pro Tip - it is a great place to go. But, the price point makes it an interesting trade-off compared to other spots in town. Why not 5 stars? - It is a solid place but not somewhere that you Must go. It didn't have anything special outside of the location and history of the hotel/location. read more

I stopped in on a Saturday around 5 pm to try the famous Reuben. I was going to get it to go so I sat at the bar. But the bartenders, Shay and Trey were so welcoming, that I stayed and ate at the bar. I had a delicious hand-crafted cocktail and the Reuben. The Reuben was really good, it was prepared perfectly. My only criticism is that I prefer a little bit of a bolder flavor. I will definitely be back. read more

On a recent sat at the Cottonwood Hotel, I dined in the Orleans Room twice and both were super enjoyable experiences in their own right. First of all, the ambiance, decor, and interior design of this bar/restaurant is lovely. They did a wonderful job making it modern but swanky. It's bright and airy in the daytime but low-lit and cozy in the darker hours of the day. On a Saturday night, my friend and I sat at the bar and had a few cocktails and some dinner. Shout out to bartender Austin for the well-made drinks and great hospitality. We had spicy margs and espresso martinis. Both delicious, though not inexpensive. For dinner we had the crab cakes and upon recommendation, the rachel (aka reuben). Apparently this is the birthplace of the reuben so that's cool. The rachel was made up of honey-smoked turkey (yum), sauerkraut, 1000 island, and gruyère cheese. A great combo all atop toasted sourdough. Oh and side of fries, of course. Though my friend didn't loveee it, I personally really enjoyed this sammie. In the morning we ate in the other side of the Orleans Room, which is made to have a very cute little cafe feel. It's all one room, but partially divided so it really felt like a separate space. My friend loved the breakfast burger and I'd say the blackstone omelette was A-ok. Not sure I'd need to order that again, but it did it's job. You're certainly paying hotel-prices to eat and drink here, but the overall experience was worth it. Wouldn't hesitate to return. read more
Lance was great. Let's start there. He was my waiter, and he made a great recommendation. My employer paid for my breakfast so I went down to get something to eat at 6:45 but then learned the restaurant didn't open until 7 but I was in a time crunch because I had to leave for work at 7:30. Lance had us take a seat, got us menus, and got us some water by 6:55. He took our order by 7:00 and our food was out in front of us by 7:09. I got the power bowl and some hot tea. The serving size of the food had me full and satisfied and I had lemon and honey with my hot tea, it was the perfect start to my day and I finished my meal by 7:25. Tucked inside the Kimpton's Cottonwood on the main floor is this upscale, fancy yet casual feeling restaurant & bar! When my parents come to town they love staying at this hotel & we have brunch here often! Good food & atmosphere. Had the omelet once and didn't like it but love the avocado toast & their sweeter meals like pancakes & French toast! Blackstone doesn't have too many brunch spots aside from the always packed early bird - so this is a great spot if you don't want to deal with the long wait times or are in the mood to change it up! We had a wonderful time at the Orleans room. We happened to walk in when there was a performer singing a really inspiring song. And they sounded like original songs, and she was a very good singer. Sounds like they really do a good job getting their entertainers. They also had a nice menu of original cocktails. I ended up going with a gimlet, which was prepared perfectly. We also decided to try the brussels sprouts because we were a little hungry because we had a late dinner reservation at the committee chophouse. The brussels sprouts tasted like they were lightly fried and had a great flavor. We enjoyed the ambience a lot, the music was interesting to listen to, and it was a comfortable spot. The sole reason I visited here was to experience the Blackstone Reuben sandwich, which I have heard good things about. Yes, the sandwich was invented in this very building many years ago! It is my favorite sandwich by far. The Orleans Room has the misfortune of being across the street from the Crescent Moon, which has the best Reuben sandwich in town and perhaps the world. The Orleans take, like the Crescent Moon, features real, legitimate corned beef brisket. Not the deli stuff. It also features a little mustard, which was a nice touch. It was very good but not up to the Crescent Moon. I'm not sure Gruyère cheese works for this sandwich as well as Swiss. Could that make a significance difference, I wonder. The fries that came with it, however, were better than the Crescent Moon and plentiful. The interior of the Orleans Room is historic, and pretty cool. read more

The Orleans Room at The Cottonwood is yet another charming space to enjoy a drink or grab a meal. While I love the Cottonwood Room in the basement, the Orleans Room is bright and airy. We ventured in for breakfast (delicious) after a stay at the hotel and found the staff to be friendly and efficient. As with other areas of the hotel, so many of the original elements have remained in tact and I have such appreciation for the maintenance of these features during the rehab of the hotel. I love the Orleans Room! It's on of my favorite (of many) places not just in The Cotton Wood Hotel, but of the Blackstone District. Whether I'm getting brunch, meeting a friend to co-work, or grabbing an espresso martini before hitting the town, this is such a vibe anytime of day. Their menu is expansive, and the bartenders are creative, the servers are efficient, it's really a 5 star experience every time I've been. read more

Fabulous! We went here for a bachelorette party and our group loved it! The vibe was elegant, classy and high end. The food was beautifully displayed and delicious and the service was even better. Highly highly recommend for a nice brunch spot. One of the best brunch spots in Omaha! read more
Went there to meet a few friends over brunch. We made the mistake of going between breakfast and lunch. There is clearly a period of time between both meals so they can reset. We go there just before 10:30 and they said they had to setup for lunch. We patiently waited until 11, went back, and was told they were waiting for breakfast patrons to finish. Fast forward to 11:30 and we finally got seated. There was one server so it was a bit slow. No worries, it allowed for us to catch up. I'd just be cautious and make sure you have plenty of time. Food and the beautiful decor are what made this a nice experience. I had the Reuben of the sea. Flaky salmon, creamy Boursin, and purple cabbage served on a bagel. So delicious! The truffle fries were also delicious! I'll likely be back. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt that we went on a weekday. I hope the weekend service is a bit better. read more
My husband and I stayed at the Kimpton for our anniversary and opted for the breakfast included rate. We love the NOLA inspired feel of the space and our severs were kind, friendly, and overall such good people. My husband opted for variations of the Business Breakfast both days which he loved. I tried the parfait as well as the biscuits and gravy and both received the highest praise from me. read more

They do have gluten-free bread so you can request that. It's not very good though.
Do they offer valet parking for diners or do you have to find your own parking?
It's all valet parking. You can choose to find your own parking along the main walkways but it get packed fast at peak areas.
