Haven't been to a high end steakhouse in years. I can sous vide steaks you'd think came from a high end steakhouse, for much less $$$, but it was my birthday and I didn't feel like cooking, so we decided to try the "new" Ruth's Chris" in newtown square. Located in the town center, which is bursting with new restaurants, we found parking right outside. We were warmly greeted and lead to our table which has been decorated for the occasion. I RSVPed on Open Table and noted we were celebrating a bday. Table was set nicely, and moments later our server, Grismely, came to welcome us and take our drink orders. She was really sweet with my dad who is getting up in years. Drinks came promptly, followed by bread for the table, and we were ready to place our order. I went with the French onion soup, and my brother got the calamari, which he raved about. The French onion was good but could have been a bit hotter. We got a variety of steaks, filet, strip, cowboy, and ribeye, as well as several sides including creamed spinach, asparagus, mushrooms, and loaded baked potatoes. The sides were all delicious, they are larger portions and can be shared. The steaks stole the show though! They serve them on VERY hot plates with some butter which is their signature. You can request more butter, or none when ordering. I went with the standard and it was great, mixed in a bit with the juice from the streak and made a nice sauce. It is absolutely NOT swimming in butter, so don't be afraid to try it. Milton was assisting Grismely, and between the 2 of them we never needed to ask for more bread, or drink refills. Service was excellent. The manager stopped over to check on us as well which is always appreciated. It was expensive for our family if 5 with everyone ordering sides for themselves, but for a special occasion it was absolutely worth it. Wife and I and another couple attended The Prisoner Wine Pairing Dinner, also for my birthday. We were greeted by the hostesses and gave our name and they wished me a happy birthday and took us the the private room where pairing would be held. They showed us to our table and they had put confetti and a birthday card. Every staff member that came in came over and wished me happy birthday. Other guest arrived and they started to serve a nice Chardonnay and the representative of the winery told us the story behind the winery and the label art. Ruth's Chris in Newtown Square delivers exactly what you'd expect from the brand--classic steakhouse atmosphere, excellent service, and steaks cooked to perfection. The filets came out sizzling on those signature butter-topped plates and were melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Sides like the creamed spinach and sweet potato casserole were rich and indulgent, perfect for sharing. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the space itself feels upscale but comfortable, great for a special night out or celebrating an occasion. The only reason I'm not giving a full 5 stars is the pricing--it's definitely on the higher end, and while the quality is there, it's a big splurge. The sides are a fair price, given that they are definitely made for sharing, b but it adds up quickly. That said, for a classic steakhouse experience in the area, this Ruth's Chris is a great option. read more

Went for dinner on Mothers Day. The $60 pp 3-course special we had seen on their website just a few days before was gone. When we inquired about it they pretended like it had never existed. So we all ordered the 3-course for $71 pp. We all ordered French onion soup as 1st course and it was NOT good at all. The onions were not properly caramelized, the bread was tiny, and the cheese was an extremely thick slab of mozzarella (Impossible to get through with soup spoon) instead of the correct cheese, gruyere. Virtually inedible. Two of us ordered the 6oz filet with shrimp, one ordered 6oz filet with lobster tail. One filet was ordered med rare and it arrived nearly raw. Two ordered medium. One of those was fine, the other was well-done so we sent it back only to have them deliver an extremely bloody rare steak instead. That also went back, so on the 3RD TRY we finally got a medium. We felt very rushed to put our order in within less than 5 minutes of being seated. The menu did list mixed drinks, but there was no wine list offered. We got our desserts to go. All of us chose cheese cake. The portions were tiny, but it was one of the tastiest cheesecakes I've ever had - hence 2 star rating instead of 1. The parking situation is terrible at this location. No parking lot. It's in a strange location where you have no viable option besides valet parking. The entire "Ellis Preserve" development is totally confusing to get in and out of and we drove in crazy circles to find a way out to West Chester Pike. Sorry to say we will not be going back to this Ruth's Chris. We spent $252 plus valet tip for a very unsatisfactory experience for 3 people. read more

My husband and I dined here last night for our anniversary. I've been to a couple of these restaurants at least a dozen times over my lifetime. It was our first time at this particular location, which just opened a couple months ago, and we agreed it was better than either of us had remembered. We had a reservation for 6pm. The gentleman at the front excitedly welcomed us, then promptly seated us at our table adorned with red rose petals and a lovely card. Nice touch! Our servers were equally friendly, and also fun. They willingly answered our questions and gave us recommendations, and their level of attention to our table was just right, even as they got busier throughout the evening. The manager also stopped by to chat with us and congratulate us. From the first bite of bread and butter, we were impressed with the food. Having tried many of their classics, I can attest that the steaks are excellent, but I opted to try something different this time. Everything was cooked to perfection! I ordered a seasonal specialty, the Ahi Tuna Mignon. The fish was beautifully seared, the "garnish" paired well, and the soy-ginger sauce was flavorful. I cleaned my plate. My husband loved his Lamb Chops, and we shared the Grilled Asparagus and Lobster Mac & Cheese -- both also amazing. We received a complimentary cheesecake for dessert, which was delicious. I also enjoyed a Blueberry Mojito with my meal. The restaurant itself is lovely. Obviously it's new, but it's nicely decorated -- fresh and classy, not stuffy. We found the background music to be an interesting choice (90's Reggae at one point), but not bad. Restrooms were clean. Top-notch experience all around. Highly recommend! read more

Went for dinner recently. Servers and overall service was fantastic; however, the food was not so great. We ordered the 11oz Fillet and bone in NY strip, both Medium Rare. Both steaks came out med well, close to well done. Servers did a good job of stripping the table and having them recooked. This added about another half hour onto our dinner. When brought out the second time, they were cooked appropriately; however, lacked the typical flavor and quality of a $70 steak (gristle, etc). The solution for the inconvenience was to offer free desert. We're both currently not eating sugar, so the result of the experience was comped coffees and a mediocre main course. We haven't been in a few yrs since there are so many great local places and this was a reminder to stay away from overpriced, inferior quality chains and stay local. read more

Went here for a Birthday Dinner. We did the 3 for $55 which you had the option to choose the 8oz steak, chicken or salmon and shrimp. You could upgrade your steak from an 8oz to a 11oz ( we did) for an up charge. You also can add on a lobster tail and shrimp for an up charges as well. It came with one side and dessert. We were told by the manager that they recently open in May 25' and they don't get too much service ( no one really knows they are in Newtown Square just yet)! The service was amazing and the staff were very welcoming. Definitely will be back! I loved the ambiance and the location !!! read more

Really great service and reliably great steaks. The ambiance is awesome, as the view is of San Diego Bay, and there is lots of wood inside the restaurant, makes you feel like you are on a ship with windows galore- not a bad seat in the house. Fun bar to hang out while waiting for table. Also there are pop up happy hour specials that you can have at the bar (like filet and merlot) that are great too. read more

What a disappointment! We were so excited to go to Ruth's Chris, but what a letdown! We had no server for 30 minutes. I finally had to go to the hostess. It turned out that our table was never assigned to a server. Then, we got a server who did not act like she worked at an upscale steakhouse. She was loud and talked so fast because she was busy. We went from being ignored to feeling like we were at a diner. They comped our drinks which was thoughtful, but they were subpar. I ordered a well-done steak, and it was very pink (and salty)! The salad was average. This place is fairly new, but it needs a complete managerial and staff overhaul. Good luck! We won't be returning. There ware so many nicer restaurants surrounding you. read more

"This is the best steak I've had in the last 5 years!" That was my husband after ordering the New York strip at Ruth's Chris. Going here was a last minute decision. Having been open for just a short period of time, we made a reservation and sat in the bar area. It was quiet being a weeknight although our server was busy, and it took some time to get our drinks. Ruth's Chris martinis have always been my favorite with their blue cheese-stuffed olives. My husband ordered the NY strip, and I ordered the petite filet. We also got a side of the garlic mashed potatoes which is our favorite. I love that you can order a steak exactly how you like it and that the steak comes out on a sizzling plate. It was delicious, but when my husband shared this with our server, I could tell he was delighted and said he would be sure to share this with the chef. We were pleasantly surprised when our server came out with complimentary cheesecakes at the end of the meal. Truly delightful! Keep in mind it is pricey, but you're getting a top notch steak. read more

Have been to this location twice now as a guest of the hotel next door. First time was dine in, everything was great until it came time to pay and go. I finished my dinner and sat there for over 35 MINUTES waiting for my server to bring back the bill and to go dessert. She forgot about me twice, very rude and so that ruined that experience. Tonight I am staying at the hotel next door again and decided to place a pickup order so I can sit in my room and watch football while I eat. I ordered a steak and mac n' cheese and requested utensils with my to go order. Didn't get utensils. Not even a napkin. $75 for a steak and you can't even pack a fork with my to go order? Ridiculous. I give up on this location I'd rather go around the corner to Chipotle lol. read more

We had dinner for 2 on the 5th night of Ruth's Chris opening. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive - from the time we entered, through the service and the manager (John) stopping by to check on things. They offered valet parking - parking can be tough in this area. My spouse has a number of dietary restrictions - they were very accommodating (but some of my pictures are not the dish as presented on the menu). We started with the chopped salad and calamari; the salad was very tasty and the calamari may have been the best I have ever tried. For mains we had the salmon (very good) and the ribeye (delicious). We had sides of mushrooms (amazing), sautéed onions (I would have liked them sautéed a little more) and Brussel sprouts (yummy). We tried the pomegranate martini (oh my!), the Benton Lane 2022 Pinot noir (very nice) and the Prisoner red blend (excellent). The only negative of consequence I will make is I opine the wines are marked up too much - example: $139 in restaurant for a $50 bottle at the store. If you are headed to Ruths Chris you know the meal will be pricey - but it sure was enjoyable! read more

On a whim, we walked in and got a table on their FIRST day- Friends and family night. Everything was wonderful- steaks superb, sides delish, cheesecake enough for 2-3 and really good. The outstanding service we received from everyone was only outshone by our personable and professional server Russell! He went beyond! They had a band outside on their patio dining area-great addition. And it was a little noisy-but the place was packed and we were in the bar at a window table, and the feeling of being outside made up for the noise. Just an exceptional expedience. We are heading back tonight for an encore performance. We have liked/loved the Ruth Chris chain for years. This Newtown Square location is a great addition to the dining in this area. I've eaten hundreds of times at steakhouses, chain and otherwise, all over the country. I'd never had to return a steak in my life prior to trying this new restaurant recently. I like my steaks rare-plus. I ordered accordingly but the waitress/bartender seemed unclear on that temperature so I said "medium rare is fine". What I got was medium well plus. I'd never seen a streak so overcooked at a reputable steakhouse. They corrected the mistake and brought me another steak that was still overcooked, nearly medium. I ate it bc I'm not high maintenance and didn't feel like complaining. Aside from the temp being wrong, the cut of meat was just. . . Ok. Not what you'd expect for $78. I've never been a fan of Ruth's Chris generally. I hate the hot plates that continue to aggressively cook your meat well after it's been brought to you and never found the food to be on par with Mastros/Capital Grill etc but I was excited to have a reputable "high end" steakhouse just down the street from me. My husband and I love Ruth's Chris and have been visiting for years. We were so sad when the KOP location closed, so we began going to the Philly location. But imagine our joy when the Newtown Square location opened! The building was designed beautifully; there was plenty of seating and even the bathrooms had beautiful detail. Our server, Ayanna, was amazing! She was obviously a very seasoned server; very calm, knowledgeable and personable. She is a great asset to the restaurant, we will definitely be back to see her. I also enjoyed how management stopped by the table for a quick chat to check in and see how everything was going with our meal, we were approached by at least two managers. Customer service is important to the staff and it showed. My husband and I visited to check out the new location, but it happened to also be timed well with our anniversary. Ruth's Chris takes celebrations seriously, and we're so kind to decorate our table with rose petals and have a card waiting for us. Our server Ayanna also brought us a complimentary dessert to help us celebrate. Everyone that we encountered, from the hostess to the managers, all wished us a happy anniversary. These are the meaningful details that made our experience so personal and memorable. Lastly, the food and drinks. I took Ayanna's drink recommendation and ordered the pomegranate martini. It was the perfect combination of sweet and strong. The alcohol wasn't overpowering, and that is exactly how I like my drinks. We also took Ayanna's appetizer recommendation and ordered the spicy shrimp. She told us it's similar to Bang Bang shrimp and she was spot on with the comparison. It was delicious. For my meal, I ordered the two crab cakes and my husband ordered the lamb chops. We added sweet potato casserole and creamed spinach to share. We both enjoyed our meal and were full and satisfied by the end. I truly hope this location will be around for years to come, I'll definitely be back! read more

I was just there on a Friday night celebrating a birthday with friends. Ambiance was nice, and not very crowded for a 7PM reservation. Our server was very good, great attitude and very attentive. The reason for giving 3 stars is that this is a very expensive steak house and I ordered a Prime New York Strip Medium Rare, and what came to the table was just a shade under Well Done and while the seasoning had a very nice flavor, it was excessively salty. On a very positive note however my sides of a baked potato and asparagus were excellent, with the asparagus tender, but not over cooked. Given that the whole reason for going to a Ruth's Chris is for a terrific steak experience and mine was so badly over cooked, I don't plan to go again, which is a shame as I've really looked forward to going there.​​​ read more
