What a delightful place! It's a garden store, it's a café, it's an event venue. We stopped in for lunch and saw a bat mitzvah party and a wedding in the spaces. The food was good with fresh bread served in a terra cotta pot. I enjoyed my salad. We got some fries to share, and those were crispy and tasty. We got salads, and both were perfectly dressed and packed with excellent vegetables. No standard spring mix here! We enjoyed mocktails and even had room for the dessert sampler. Terrain is okay. Never great. I've been here like 4 times for dinner and it's decent. I always just get the rigatoni Bolognese to keep it simple. Their pot pie was good but I don't see it on the menu anymore Dessert is usually a pass. Nothing is very fresh or homemade tasting. This most recent time was pretty annoying and why I give 3 stars though. I was with two friends going out for a rare girls night dinner and they ordered steak and I got my regular rigatoni Bolognese and I don't know what happened but my order did not come out until like 20 some minutes after my friends did. So they ate without me and finished their meals before mine even came, which was really awkward and annoying... it was late. My friend is pregnant and wanted to get home. Etc. Our waitress was very nice and apologized profusely and checked on us many times but I was never offered a comped meal or comped dessert or anything to make up for the inconvenient and unfair mishap. I would also like to note that the waitress at one point said sorry for the delay Your COD will be out soon, and I looked at her and said I did not order cod... stunning and uniquely decorated space, but extremely mediocre food. i took my parents out to the burbs for brunch, but this was the worse meal we had together during their 4-day trip to philly. i want to start off by saying that this greenhouse cafe is absolutely gorgeous, and the decor is one-of-a-kind. i also love shopping next door at terrain, the shop. everything is just so cute and aesthetically pleasing! however, the food here is simply not very good. no one in my family particularly liked their dish. my boyfriend and i shared the short rib & egg and the chicken pot pie. the short rib was dry and the potato hash was so flavorless. i took one bite and deferred it to my boyfriend. i suppose i could have finished it, but i really didn't want to. the chicken pot pie was also lackluster. i think it's impossible to mess up a chicken pot pie, but i think the one here is somehow worse than the one served to patients at my hospital. the chicken was somehow so dry despite the wet interior, and the puff pastry was impossible to break apart, not flaky at all. the lobster roll was so underfilled, and the lobster inside was like a sad shredded lobster salad. the truffle fries were also really disappointing, the cheese wasn't even melted over. the best part of the meal was the complementary brioche bread. the food here was more like two stars, and the additional star comes from the beautiful decor and the lovely waiters. in the future, i will most likely choose to dine elsewhere before/after shopping at terrain. you don't have to eat at the cafe to shop! read more

The ambiance of this place is beautiful - it has a modern boho vibe and does give a brunchy feel. We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and it was super busy. There are a tons of vegetarian options available which I liked about. First off we started with complimentary bread and maple butter with some sea salt sprinkled on top. This was a great way to start our lunch. Although the main course couldn't live upto to our expectations. This is such a cute store / café! Perfect spot for brunch with your mama or your besties. The storefront is adorable and has so much cute stuff perfect for gardening, gift giving, and much more! The café had delicious food from local farmers and you can tell just how fresh the food is because the you can taste the quality in every bite. We loved how allergy friendly it was, as my mom is both gluten free and dairy free. The drinks were also yummy and fresh! We went here based on our daughter's recommendation and we loved it. It is a very cute place. We came right at opening on Sunday. Ambience is chic. Servers are friendly and helpful. I am really surprised why this has low review.may be because the options are not huge. However there are enough that I didn't feel like it was lacking. The bread they serve as on the house comes wi the flavored butter, and was fresh and tasty. Coffee was good. The tiny glass for milk was a nice touch. Highly recommend it. I've been wanting to visit a terrain Cafe for thr longest time because greenhouse restaurants are just the cutest with all of thr plants and natural light. We came with a reservation for Friday lunch and wow, this place was packed with ladies of all ages lunching. Food was standard, not bad, but doesn't blow your mind. Lives the flower pot bread. Also got some champagne because we were celebrating a friend's engagement. We came here for brunch after having delicious blueberry pie chai at their other site in Glen Mills. Of course we got the chai again and it didn't disappoint. This site is smaller but still love the ambience! There is so much greenery. The flower pot bread is cute and I liked the lemon poppyseed butter, which was something I hadn't tried before. My shrimp and grits was fresh but could have used a bit more flavor and my friend's omelette was okay, but nothing special. Cute cafe tucked next to its sister business, Anthropologie. Everything on the menu was tasty, from the breakfast bowls down to the fries. The free bread was the most inventive dish- a cute roll in a planter pot that tasted like fluffy brioche, and a sweet maple butter. The mushroom soup was thick, creamy, and great. The iced tea was a little fruitier and more sour than I would've liked. Was in on a Tuesday for brunch around 130. All of the staff seemed friendly and eager to accommodate. The place is cozy and cute. We started with truffle fries, quinoa fritters and drinks. All were delicious! I especially enjoyed the Apple Cider Ginger Fizz drink. The bread in a pot was so cute and came with a delicious spiced apple butter. Our mains were Braised Short Ribs & Egg (delicious), Terrain breakfast and Heirloom Shrimp & Grits. All were flavorful and fresh. The portions were perfect. We finished with the dessert board, which had a nice mix of items on it. Would've loved for the salted cookies to be a little softer, but they still had good flavor. Joy was our server and she deserves a better cooked menu to serve because her radiating energy and professionalism was the best thing we took away from our "brunch" meal this past week. The dining area atmosphere is perfection and the drinks were amazing so kudos to the bar tenders! Go for cocktails but eat elsewhere. Short rib and egg: the "hash" was rubbery and tasteless. Short rib was cooked well but the seasoning was off-putting and the egg was over cooked. The grilled cheese sandwich consisted of a thickly cut apple with almost no cheese on one side. Crab flat bread was mostly bread without enough meat or sauce. I think people enjoyed the French fries tho. It's a bummer for sure on the food but if you're just interested in good atmosphere and awesome drinks, then this is your place! Although, the bar isn't in the awesome dining area so keep that in mind if just going for drinks. Hope this helps someone else out!! read more

I ordered the Shrimp & Heirloom Grits and the only flavor came from the jalapeño honey drizzle. Otherwise it was bland and the grits were really watery. First the good ++ Ambiance and decor is amazing ++ The mule, the shakshukha and French toast was delicious. We especially enjoyed the French toast. The fruits and granola was yummy -- the bloody Mary tasted more like a smoothie vs a cocktail -- the quinoa frites was a bit bland to my liking and I had to squeeze a lot of lime. Wow- really surprising to find such a beautiful place kind of in the middle of nowhere. The restaurant is next to a small garden center and is filled with plants / flowers - it looks great. We came for lunch and had a sort of semi brunch menu. I've been to the Glenn Mills location, which is prettier, quieter, and with much better food. This was quite the disappointment. It started out bad when the coffee served was tepid and bitter. They replaced the cup with another that was tepid and bitter. My friend's tea was hotter. The bread that was served comes to the table in a cute flower pot. The bread was over baked and very dry. I've had it at the other location and we couldn't get enough of it. On this occasion, one piece was enough. My friend has an onion allergy. If she eats onions, her esophagus swells and she ends up in the hospital. She mentioned that to the waitress at the start before ordering, and asked if there were any onions in a certain omelette. She was told no, so she ordered it. The plate came out with potatoes with onions in it and had to go back to the kitchen. They brought her out another omelette served with a double portion of greens. The greens were undressed, meaning no salad dressing, so were very dry and well, who wants a plate of dry greens?. I ordered the mushroom frittata, also served with greens that were undressed. The potatoes that came with it were not cooked all the way through. The frittata was dry and without seasoning. Service was not great. We couldn't wait to finish and get out of there. Seriously, go somewhere else. It's an expensive place for an unenjoyable meal. For a $50 breakfast, we should get something that we like. I can't think of a breakfast I liked less in quite awhile. And the fact that they didn't pay attention to an allergy is really inexcusable. I am giving this place 3 stars because I use to work there as a dishwasher so while the food is good and the restaurant it's self is a nice place, it is the work atmosphere and some of the people who work there now and present are not good . When I first started working at Terrain a year ago, the older staff who were there were much nicer and older even through it was a few younger staff but mostly everyone was nice and on point and solid with their job and it was lesser complaints and issues.. When the older staff had left and the newer staff came from the ones who I worked with up untill the present that is when things shifted and changed...it was more younger staff, alot more complaints and drama going around the restaurant, poor attitudes and personalities and a lot of gossip and favoritism that was shown, I even gotten written up twice, one for a verbal saying in which I did not say anything wrong or serious about anyone the second time was when I tried to help a woman who work on the line who fell on the floor because the floor was slippery and wet and a day later I had found out she had made false accusations against me that I groped her and also it was a situation with my cellphone which she came over to my area and looked at and thought it was something inappropriate on my phone and then went back and ran her mouth to the management about it....yes the work conditions there are Terrain were not good in the back of the house, I had to constantly clean up behind other grown people, the dish pit was a small area, things and equipment were constantly unorganized even when I had tried to organize things and things not getting put up in proper order and away in its place, the floor area in the kitchen constantly stayed dirty and wet and some of the servers were not nice, rude and be funny towards you and gossip things...I was written up the 3rd time for leaving early one Saturday during the busy season due to me having to take Septa back to the city and the trains running late or being cancelled and I was very tired and over with that so I had told the night time assistant manager that I could not stay later anymore due to the situation with Septa and she act like she did not care and not considering about it and wrote me up so I did not care about that so I was later terminated, the night time kitchen manage understood and considered but I understand that he had to go and follow by the head manager and go through protocal but the thing is that there is no consideration there with the other managers that some people had to take and rely on Septa to get back home to the city and that they do not care because most everyone have cars and drives and have more of a privilege..Well with all of this said . I am glad that I left Terrain because after I had left, I was told by a co worker that bad things were said about me from the front of the house staff at Terrain that I falsely was trying to talk and hit on the servers and one of them accused me of touching her inappropriately and saying all of this crazy and wild stuff so I am glad to long longer work at Terrain because it is a toxic and disfunctional place to work and those severs are a bunch of young 20 year old clowns who do not know me here that well and are ignorant. I would never be disrespectful towards anyone not even disrespect myself here in that manner but it shows you how ignorant and hateful and spiteful people are especially in the Philly area because they do not like you or say and do things out of ignorance and negativity, all I have to say is that the grass is always greener on the other side and I am glad to work somewhere now where it is a fresh start and better and mostly all the staff and management are very nice and respectful and good to me...that is the kind of work environment I am about and love to work in... This restaurant seems cool and aesthetic, you can eat your meal in a greenhouse, until you realize all the plants are fake. For the outrageous price of the food, you'd expect them to have real plants. I ordered the terrain breakfast with eggs over easy and when they brought out the eggs they were scrambled, when they tried to fix the error they brought the eggs out over hard, as the yoke was completely cooked. The manager did provide us with a free dessert and new eggs actually cooked over easy. As far as the quality of food, I the terrain breakfast came with unseasoned and undercooked fried potatoes, breakfast sausage that you would find in a military chow hall, and a handful of greens thrown on top of the eggs in an unappealing way. Aside from the fact that the greens do not match with the rest of the meal, they had the smallest dollop of dressing so they were completely dry. I would not recommend this to anyone who enjoys good food and fair prices. If you only care about the surface level visuals then you may enjoy this restaurant. Frankly I cannot get the restaurant off my mind, I cannot believe I paid these absurd prices to sit in a fake greenhouse surrounded by plastic plants and eat food that was beyond mediocre. Some friends and I came here for a weekday lunch! I accidentally parked on the garden side of the parking lot but was able to find the cafe quickly. I noticed how wonderful it smelled walking to the cafe. Inside we sat in the greenhouse area. It was so beautiful! Our waitress was very nice and attentive about my peanut allergy. We started off with the cheese and fruit board and added some prosciutto. I was happy for once that a cheese board didn't come with any nuts so I don't have to worry about cross contamination. Every cheese was explained when the board arrived. We also got flower pot bread which came with a seasonal pomegranate butter. Delish!! It was enough to split between the 6 of us. We each got a variety of brunch dishes from fried avocado Benedict, breakfast hash and burgers. I got the burger and added bacon. I upgraded my fries to truffle Parmesan! It was a rainy Saturday evening, but that didn't stop my friend and I from visiting Terrain Cafe to celebrate her birthday. I am completely flabbergasted by this restaurant. Everything was incredible from start to finish. I was nervous that a 5:00 reservation would mean we'd be in a cramped setting, but boy, was I wrong. We basically had the place to ourselves for about 45 mins to an hour before other guests started rolling in. Our server was Emily. She was a pleasure and didn't miss a beat. We started our night with drinks - the hibiscus margarita caught my eye. It was unique and unlike anything I've ever had before, but I enjoyed it very much. Appetizers were also in our plan, so I ordered the quinoa fritters. I was expecting them to have a falafel-type texture but they were crispy and airy instead. Packed with flavor and the za'atar spiced yogurt complimented them nicely. Another waiter came around with the most adorable complimentary loaves of bread in plant pots, paired with a blueberry jam butter. I could have died happy at this point. The bread was warm and fluffy, the butter perfectly decadent. The fried cauliflower sandwich was amazing! I was so stuffed and could only eat half. The caper parsley aioli really outdid itself, and the cauliflower was generously seasoned and fried golden brown. Top that off with a brioche bun and you have yourself a delicious sandwich. Last but not least, dessert. If you're on the fence about the Meyer Lemon Bar, get it. It was basically a little piece of summer in front of me, topped with blueberry compote. So refreshing and each bite melted in my mouth. I'm sad I didn't come here sooner, but lucky to have experienced this magical place at least once in my life. Terrain was everything I hoped it would be!! Eating in the greenhouse was picture perfect. We ordered a bloody mary, Autumn Leaves cocktail, shrimp and grits, salmon toast. Everything was excellent. Properly seasoned, served hot, well balanced drinks, and presented beautifully. This was probably one of the best bloody mary's I have ever had. Spicy, with loads of dill. This place is horrible. We were put at a window table as we had requested a table in the middle. There were a lot ants crawling along the windows and the side of the table. So, we requested to make a change, the server helped. Then, coffee came. The coffee mug looked dirty like been used and were not cleaned. Coffee residuals all over outside of the mug and in the saucers. To avoid any possible issues, we didn't ask the waitress to make the change. Then, the salmon breakfast was horrible because the bread was terribly over toasted with bitter taste and was hard to chew. It seemed the piece of bread has been several days since it was made. The crab meat breakfast hardly to see any crab meat. The flat bread was dry and hard. If you think that was all the experiences we had, I you were wrong. The server brought a box for me to take the leftovers. THE BOX WAS USED WITH OIL STAINS . This time we did ask to get another one. We did leave tips, which we should not!
