    Tuna tartine

What a wonderful French restaurant in Media! The service was amazing and everyone was so nice and friendly. We ordered the burger, the tuna tartine, the escargots, and the crepe. I was surprised by how the crepe looked like a pressed wrap! Definitely was not expecting such large portions but I'm not complaining. The crepe itself was a bit dry but that's ok because I just dipped it in the escargot sauce even if maybe that's not the way to eat it. However speaking of the escargots... that dish was AMAZING. We just ate up all the butter garlic sauce with our bread, crepes, fries, everything!!! Again that was probably not the way to eat it but it was just that good. No sauce was left at the end. And the escargots were nice and chewy. Would go back for that for sure !!!

It's restaurant week in Media so we decided to stop in for a prix fix dinner at $55 a person--a great way to try out some new menu items. It was early and even though there were other diners, we were told we could sit anywhere so of course we chose a beautiful sunny table by the window. Really enjoyed our choices. The chicken was tender and moist and the scallops were wonderful as well. No additional table side seasonings (i.e. salt and pepper) needed. Service was exceptional as usual. The wine selections can't be beat and we've never had a glass we didn't like including this time. We finished the meal with creme brûlée and chocolate mouse and a duo of espressos--ciao Bella or should I say Au revoir ma belle!

This is a very small establishment, so I always prefer the outside seating when it's nice out. The brunch is good here and the servers are always kind.

Before a local play I wanted to try something laidback so I could relax and enjoy the play. La Belle Epoque was part of an online search for restaurants. After reading the reviews for dining options in Media, voila! Please give additional time for parking and walking. La Belle is a small quaint restaurant with a dark romantic vibe. The softly played blend of pop songs past and somewhat present were most inviting. At time it was hard to hear because of the shared space with a 'sports bar". It seems the separation was part of the Mitch and heavy drapes. I had salmon, the portions are fair and cooked perfectly however the yellow squash and haricots were extremely salty. The onion soup was divine. The entrees were not overly priced for the portions. Because the spaced is shared at times it was too loud to fully enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. My server was pretentious. Would I return? Probably not, but I would not discourage others.

The ambiance was good and the food was pretty good but didn't blow us away. We got the burger and steak frites and the burger was pretty decent but would have been AMAZING if it came with an ailo or some sauce for it. The steak was pretty good (we're used to eating in the city so our expectations are high). The ambiance is great for a date night though. We didn't get any drinks.

My reviews are based on 4 criteria: Presentation, Service, Taste, and Ambiance. I came here with two others on a Thursday for lunch. Presentation: Very well maintained restaurant and was very empty at the time we went. Service: Great service but I believe it was attributed to the time we went. Taste: The food was great, the tartine felt refreshing and light. No complaints from the two others. Ambience: Very organized and clean dining area. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and everything went well. I am holding my true review for when I am able to go during a saturday or sunday to see how they operate under pressure. I would not recommend parties bigger than four because of the tight space.

I love this adorable, French bistro right in the heart of Media! I came here for brunch last weekend and my friend and I loved our meals. We had reservations and were seated right away. I got one of their special drinks, which was a christmas mimosa. I loved it! It was super unique and the flavored ice cube melting is what gave it flavor. For my meal, I had their quiche of the day. It was asparagus, red pepper, and parmesan. It was SO GOOD! I loved how cheesy it was. The crust was crispy and the top was perfectly brown. I definitely recommend it! I loved everything here and would definitely come back for brunch. The only reason it isn't 5 stars, is the service. Our server was nice, but we were never asked if we wanted another drink and we constantly had to ask for water refills. Other than that, it was a great brunch!

A close friend treated me to brunch here. I trust her judgement, but as soon as I walked in, I knew I would the place. The hostess/bartender/waitress was great. I loved the decor. I had a hard time deciding on my cocktail and meal and for me, that is an indicator of a high quality restaurant. I told my friend that I want to return.

The sautéed radishes were wonderful as I never had them prepared this way. Mushroom toast and croustades of crab were delicious. We had the carrots and brussel sprouts as well -both delicious. We ended sharing the crepe cake - scrumptious! Did not get photos of everything and some are partially eaten as it all was so good! My husband, who has been to Paris and is very particular about his escargot, said it was the closest he has ever had to the real thing. That alone says a lot. We started with the mushroom toast, which was hands down the best toast we have ever had, along with deviled eggs topped with salmon roe that added the perfect burst of flavor. Every bite felt thoughtful and elevated. For our mains, we ordered the coq au vin and duck frites, and both were outstanding. The sauces were rich and balanced, and the meats were cooked perfectly. Dessert sealed the deal with crème brûlée and pot de crème. The crème brûlée, especially, was a masterpiece. Beyond the food, the restaurant itself is small and charming with a cozy, intimate feel. The staff were warm and attentive and made the whole experience even better. This place deserves way more hype than it gets. If you are anywhere near Haddonfield, do not miss it.

The space appears brighter and more inviting than before, and their menu although small had additional specials. The young man who greeted us at the door was also our server. When I asked him about the French onion soup, he said it was their most popular appetizer, so we both decided to try it. Toasted French bread and a delicious butter flavored with a bit of tomato was lovely as we enjoyed our own wine. (The restaurant is still BYOB.) A complimentary "shot" of mushroom soup was hot and creamy. When the French onion soup came out, we couldn't say enough about it. It wasn't overly cheesy or "bready" as it just had a few toasted croutons on top. The soup itself wasn't too salty as onion soup sometimes tends to be. As an entree, I had the special which was rock shrimp with a Fra Diavolo sauce over pasta. It wasn't as spicy as I had hoped, and I would have loved bigger pieces of shrimp/more shrimp, but it was still good. My husband enjoyed his harissa lamb ragout over cavatappi even though his was spicier than expected and, similar to mine, could have had more lamb. Our attentive server made sure everything came out at the right time. The restaurant was quiet and comfortable, and we enjoyed a rare weeknight out. I'm sure we'll be back.

It's also BYOB, which makes it even better -- bring your favorite bottle and make a whole night out of it. The vibe is warm, intimate, and perfect for date night, but they also have a gorgeous outdoor space that can host up to 100 people, making it such a hidden gem for larger parties and celebrations. They opened in September 2019 -- just six months before the pandemic -- which makes what they've built even more impressive. It's truly family-driven. The husband, Manuel (from Spain), is the head chef, and you can absolutely taste the care and authenticity in every dish. Cindy, who is from Panama, brings so much heart to the restaurant as well. We started with Prince Edward Island oysters and the crab salad, which had crispy bacon pieces for a great touch of texture and the crab was incredibly fresh -- such a perfect balance of flavors and crunch. For entrées, the beef bourguignon was rich, comforting, and everything you'd hope for from a classic French dish. The Dover sole felt elegant and perfectly executed. We ended with the chocolate mousse, which was light, decadent, and the perfect sweet finish. And I have to mention our server -- Delroy was fabulous. Attentive, personable, and so knowledgeable. He truly elevated the entire experience. Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

The Choice is one of those restaurants that appears to be hiding in plain sight. When we first…read moreconsidered dining here, noting that it had received very positive reviews from a variety of sources, we were surprised to find that no one of our acquaintance had even heard of the place, let alone darkened the door. And yet... when our party of three arrived for a recent Wednesday evening reservation, we found the 50-seat dining room full and joyously overflowing. ... And, given the fact that the menu is awash with a host of French and Asian fusion innuendos, you would probably never suspect that the restaurant is owned by two Ukrainian families. But, since the well-traveled co-proprietor Volodymyr "Vlad" Hyvel served as sous-chef in London's Nobu and also put in time at Le Cirque, Alain Ducasse and Jean-Georges, his diverse culinary inclinations make impeccably perfect sense. Matters piscatorial - both preludes and main courses - play a major role in Mr. Hyvel's repertoire. His starters, for instance, range from cold items such as Yellowtail Sashimi, Tuna Tartare, and Lobster Ceviche to a comforting tomato-y Fish Soup awash with shrimp & scallops. Among his starters, however, the chef's magnum opus proved to be his extraordinary Scallops in Shredded Filo (pictured). The rich & meaty deep-fried bivalves arrived at table accompanied by a zippy wasabi cream sauce... and were simply irresistible. Entrées are pretty evenly divided between "Meat" and "Fish and Seafood." In addition to Filet Mignon, Short Ribs, and Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chops with a spicy Peruvian sauce, the former category also included Chicken Teriyaki and Duck Canton splashed with a seductive caramel-coffee-orange sauce. Once again, however, for our party at least, seafood took center stage. My dining partners decided upon the Halibut and Branzino, respectively. The former was companioned by mushrooms and finished with a green pepper dressing; the latter was presented with creamy mushrooms, crisp potato balls, and a side of fennel dressing. My Wild Caught Striped Bass (pictured) was a particular treat, as the filet was wrapped in a crispy potato crust, served on a bed of creamy leeks, and splashed with a delicate red wine sauce. If The Choice has a weakness, it is their desserts. As noted above, appetizers & entrées are both delightfully innovative and cosmopolitan in scope. When it comes to sweet endings, however, options are exceedingly limited and creativity is conspicuous by its absence - Chocolate Meltdown with Vanilla Ice Cream... Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream... Warm Apple Tart with Vanilla Ice Cream... Ice Cream. You get the picture. Given the quality of all that has gone before, you expect more... and it simply isn't forthcoming. Just be prepared... Dinner at The Choice is not a cheap date. Those aforementioned highly-touted Scallops in Shredded Filo, for instance, will set you back $18.00. Lobster Ceviche goes for $28.00; with appetizers topping out at $32.00 for the Pan-Seared Foie Gras. Entrée-wise, that Butter-Poached Lobster will put a sizeable $60.00 dent in your wallet, while all finny fare goes for either $35.00 or $40.00. Meats are $35.00 per, with Chicken Teriyaki occupying the menu's bottom rung at $28.00. Even those rather nondescript downhome desserts will set you back $12.00 per. Given the current state of economic affairs, I am not suggesting that these prices are outrageous by any means. However, given the restaurant's location - the western 'burbs - and the laidback atmosphere and service, they are a bit on the heady side. Not exactly a likely candidate for a last-minute inexpensive casual evening out... Fortunately, the fact that you may BYOB helps to soften the blow somewhat.

After walking down State for about a block, we settled on 320 as a good place to stop to get something that would be tasty but also quick enough to get us in and out the door in enough time to be on our way but also provide a wide enough selection for the three of us to select something that we each wanted. Being fans of 320 Market in Swarthmore, I was used to this place when we went inside, although it is markedly different from the location that we usually go to. The space is a little bit more sparse and feels less like a market than the one in Swarthmore, but the staff is still nice, and the colors are bright, and the selections are still wide and vary across the spectrum of flavors enough to make everyone happy. I ordered pierogis at the counter as did my daughter, and my wife ordered spanakopita and then we were told to take a seat anywhere we liked. I do know that they obviously had to prepare everything fresh which is one reason that we like 320, but I also know, the spanakopita is coming from a much larger sheet and the pierogis only have to be fried and plated. For some reason things were taking an extremely long amount of time. The spanakopita came out relatively quick but was a little cold in the center. Still tasted delicious, but not ideal. However, the pierogis took forever. Not sure why because this was prime lunch time, around 11:30 and they weren't busy. Either way, when they did come out, they were played brilliantly, but I had to ask the wonderful guy at the counter to put them into containers so that my daughter and I could take them with us due to our fine constraints. He was more than happy to help and did his best to arrange them nicely in the containers, but for some reason the manager seemed to have a problem with the fact we ordered them to sit down and then asked to have them put into containers. He protested to some extent, albeit not directly to me, but when I looked in his direction alarmedly (which I'm not sure is even a word, lol) he simply stopped and went back to his other conversation). Even after our fifteen minute drive, the pierogis were superb and obviously made by hand from scratch. While I do like the other 320 Market location better and go there much more frequently just based on proximity to my home, this one was also good. I would go here again, and if you are in Media and need a good place for well-made delicious foods and interesting beer and wine that you won't find anywhere else, this is definitely your spot to go. There are many different choices of restaurants in Media to select from, but this is one place that is set up a bit differently, more like a "market" as described in its name. Go and check them out if you've never been, I bet there's something there that you'll enjoy!
