Whenever I am in the Carpinteria area for work or fun, I always like coming to Rusty's Pizza Parlor. They have a great lunch Special: Individual Pizza (2 toppings) Small (One trip Salad Bar) Drink $7.95. What a deal! The pizza here is really good, I have gotten the pan as well as the thin crust versions. I prefer the thin crust, it is cooked to perfection and has a crispy outer crust and the rest is delicious. Pepperoni and Jalapeño is the only way to go for me. I would have given it 5 stars, but in the last couple years they changed the salad bar to 1 visit only and the bowl is fairly small. You used to be able to go back as many times as you wanted, which was nice. Not that I was eating that much more, but at least I did not have to try and stuff everything into one bowl on my first and only trip. Not a big deal, but just wanted to share why I have them a 4, rather than a five. That won't stop me from coming back, I sometimes go out of my way to visit Rusty's, I really like it. They also have a big screen TV you can watch and a selection of old school video games. Rusty's reminds me of an old pizza place I used to go to when I lived in the Midwest, that has since closed down, brings back good memories. Enjoy. read more

We got a large pizza with half having a select group of toppings and the other side having other ones. My husband and I don't agree on things such as pineapple on pizza. The pizza was perfect. It was exactly as ordered and delicious! We also ordered a thin crust bbq chicken pizza- I didn't have any but the guys said it was good. The garlic bread was on point. The website said it'd take an hour; we ordered at 6:00pm and it was too us by 7. The driver came up in gloves and a mask and knocked and then left it on the front door step. I liked their pizza, their sprite was also very good. But they have bad cap quality. There floors were dirty but it was busy. So that's a cautiona when you go when it's busy. I think it's above average but not my favorite. read more

My husband and I went to Rusty's Pizza for lunch today. We were extremely disappointed to where we won't be returning. Mind you I grew up in Carpinteria and visited Rusty's on a weekly basis. I also worked as a supervisor at one time in my life. The place smells horrible like dirty socks and urine. The salad bar had browned salad which we had to request fresh salad. The ice tea machine didn't have regular unsweetened tea which is all my husband drinks when out. Then our pizzas were so small. They use to fit the plate now they are much smaller than the plate served on. Same plate smaller pizza. But the worst part was the smell in the entire restaurant. Horrible just horrible. Not sure if Roger, Carol and Cindy Duncan own Rusty's anymore, but it definitely isn't up to par as a restaurant should be. Super disappointed. Marc n I stayed in Carpenteria overnight due to he worked Sat pouring concrete for a store their building. Obviously only food available is takeout with COVID19. Giving them a 4 rating because the pizza may have tasted differently had we'd been able to dine in and wasnt as hot when we arrived back to the hotel. We ordered the Rustys Special with bell peppers and no anchovies. We got the thin pizza rather than pan which may have also tasted different. It wasnt a bad pizza. It was tasty, just not what were use to closer to Riverside at Dukes, Aloha Pizza or 4th n Mill. We would order again under other circumstances if we return and order a pan pizza instead. read more

5.50 for a bowl of salad and you can't go back after your done. I have never been to a salad bar you can't go back for more. WTF! And the salad bar ain't even worth $2. Walked in and I ordered a medium thin crust pizza to go with black olives and green peppers & a coke. Total $19.82. Waited over 30 minutes. Walked about 3 blocks and it was still warm. The crust was tasty as sometimes a thin crust can be soggy. The pepper toppings were scarce and olives dominated the taste. Not sure if all locations are the same and maybe people flock here because there's few pizza options, but I've had great pizza that leaves you wanting more. We ordered from the Rusty's pizza in Carpinteria on two separate occasions for delivery. Our first time the delivery guy said that you must request Parmesan cheese and chili flakes when placing your order. He could not provide anything, including napkins. The second occasion, we ordered a Large Combo pizza. When asked if we wanted anchovies or bell peppers we chose bell peppers. What we received was a bell pepper ONLY pizza. This location does not serve potato wedges. I ordered my pizza well done, but when I received my pizza it wasn't even close. (It was undercooked even compared to a regular pizza NOT well done at the 3 other locations I've visited) I ordered medium wings and asked for the two containers of ranch they said I was allotted, (which still isn't enough considering how good their ranch is) but I only received one. When I asked for more ranch (holding a 5 dollar bill in my hand) I was handed an empty container without a lid and was told to go to the salad bar and serve it myself, even though I ordered my pizza to go. When I went back to the register to get a lid, I asked if I could pay for more ranch, and they didn't listen correctly and continued to tell me I was only allowed 2. (Still standing there with a 5 dollar bill in my hand) Also, there was a slice of pizza that had no sauce, cheese, or topping on more than half of it, but that didn't bother me, too much. It happens. I love Rusty's, the pizza still tasted great considering they use the same ingredients, but wasn't prepared properly. The restaurant itself was very clean and inviting.
