We saw the review on Yelp talking about the great brick fired pizza and walked 1.3 miles from where we were staying only to find out that the brew lab does not have a kitchen, they allow food trucks to serve their patrons from the alley behind it. They graciously allow you to eat your meal inside the bar, which we were prepared to do. We went on a Thursday and there was a Thai food truck providing food in the alley. Unfortunately, we waited for about 75 minutes and our order was never available, so we canceled and went down the street to Delgado's. We were in the mood for pizza, were going to settle for Thai, but we ended up having some really good Mexican food. We've been here a few times. The beers are always good and they offer some interesting flavors off the beaten path. Today we had a German hefe and a mango goze and a taste of the peach lager. Hefe was as really flavorful and not overdone with banana esters. Nice beer! read more

I love this place! Nice range of beers, flights, and they have a food truck right outside that is DELICIOUS BTW but I will save that for their review haha We got a flight. I loved the triple Belgian (only $7!!) taste a lot like delirium's. The hefenweizer was really good to. We got the flight to share and those were my two favorites. Friendly and informed staff to help with deciding beer for the flights Also i liked that they have a section on the patio where if one person wants a beer from Apiary (next door) you can sit across from each other! My wife and I were staying within walking distance to brewLAB in Carpinteria, California. After about a mile walk, I was ready for a tasty beverage and the bartender was very nice and I ordered their flagship IPA, it was super tasty. They have outdoor seating in the back and there is a winery next door you can order from and they have a designated area where you can sit on either side of a patrician and sip on your beverages. I only had one beer, but this was a nice stop on another perfect day in Carpinteria! read more

I'm not the biggest fan of brewLAB's. I've tried to think of words to convey my feelings, and the best words I could think of are: incomplete, flat, not mixed together well, not brewed well, not brewed long enough???, amateurish, missing something Like...the flavor profiles of each beer were ALMOST there but fell flat somewhere. It tasted like a brewery still in training. I apologize, you guys. You may have to go back to the drawing board and take some classes or something. At least with Apiary...even though all their meads taste similar and probably use similar methods/flavor profiles, at least they have found a formula that works well enough, so you're swimming in the same nice pool. But here...some bro just tried and failed. I'm curious do you guys do taste tests for menu approval prior to making the beer available? Do you have a test committee of some sort? Is the beer even brewed long enough to give it a fighting chance of being proper, or is there some pressure to rush the process? Cause I can taste the lack of effort somewhere in the process. The best barbecue is cooked long and slow. You can taste if it was rushed. Same with beer or anything else. The chamomile beer here really disappointed me. It tasted like chamomile tea that gave up during the beer making process and just decided to present itself "AS-IS"...very watery and flat and the different things going on just didn't mesh well together. Everything inside of it was trying to be an individual instead of a team and you could taste the disharmony. No synergy. Lol. I hope you stay in business and get more practice. The place is super roomy and airy, which I like. Aren't you the same people who own Apiary? At least that's what I thought. If so, why does Apiary work and this place does not? I've been meaning to check this place out for years. Finally got to, worth it. This brewery is quite the hidden gem. It's in a commercial plaza in a warehouse not really visible from the road. Though the warehouse door is wide open, it still feels like a bit of a speakeasy which I enjoy. The decor is whimsical and industrial. There's a nice sunny patio along with a few indoor spots to sit. There weren't many other patrons on the Saturday afternoon I had gone (good ol' Covid) but the vibe was right. I tried two different beers and they were excellent. We sat indoors and still were able to feel that awesome ocean breeze. The bartender was friendly and let me in on some of the brewery's history which I enjoyed hearing about. The other beer choices looked incredible and I can't wait to come back soon. read more

on vacation in Carp last weekend, and craving good pizza around 9pm. Called brewLAB, and a guy answers, tells me he's not at the restaurant, so not sure if they're still serving pizza. I'm bummed, and expect him to hang up. Instead, he says: "let me give them a call and see what's up. I'll call you back." He's so nice and helpful, but I honestly wasn't expecting to hear back. What small operation has 3 saisons on tap? This place does! This awesome place came highly recommended by one of the barkeeps at another local establishment. So happy we decided to scoot over on a hot Friday night. If you're a saison fan, you must try all three: Incandescence (crisp), Resilience (dry and fruity), and Llama ( infused with Tican espresso beans). Pura Vida! Also tried the Green Room ( fresh and hoppy). Everything was excellent and the environment super personable. The space is in an industrial area with lots of nondescript buildings, so unless you are really looking for it, chances are you'll probably miss it. Seating is at a premium, so if you find a stool, consider yourself lucky and plant yourself there. Also, pretty much every part of the decor is functional. I made the mistake of turning on what I thought was a decorative spigot and ended up with a face full of water. My bad :P I was hesitant to mention that you should visit on a Friday, because Fire and Wine catering is there serving up some mean pies. I would hate for this place to get too, too, too crowded. BrewLab is my favorite spot for a Friday afternoon brew. Their menu is ever changing and it's always good. Enjoy a flight or by the glass while sitting out on their patio playing board games. BrewLab is located an industrial area of Carp. Street parking is easy to find. I would recommend arriving early to secure a table. I like to sit out on their patio where they have wild hops gorwing. BrewLab is dog friendly and they bring in food vendors or food trucks on the weekends. Highly recommend! read more

I like the lower key vibe to this place. It's not DT carp which as a local I really appreciate. The beer is good and they have a nice verity to choose from. When they have a kombucha on tap, I tend to stay longer than expected :) they have a small little patio to chill on and socialize. Co-workers and I stopped here at the end of the work week. The Brew Lab is a place that exhuberates simplicity and also comfort. I wasn't in the mood for fancy decor; a place free from all the airs and graces of somewhere else. The customer service is great. The bartender reminds me of the small town customer service rep that remembers your favorite drink and probably your last conversation at the Lab. There was a friendly dog quietly sitting behind the bar, ready to be fawned over :) The clientele is nice and welcoming as well. read more

OMG!!!!! Absolutely a great place for beer and meeting new people. Being a home brewer it always nice to be able to speak with some of the brew masters of a brewery. Peter is one of the 3 owners and made us feel right at home. This place is nestle in a business strip in Carpinteria. The only thing I would suggest is to figure a way of getting through the line of people waiting for a beer. There were a few of us waiting in line and unfortunately we were behind a young lady that was more interested in talking with her friends than ordering a beer she was in line for. People started coming in from the other side and jumping the line. Finally we decided to do the same. They are blowing the doors off and with the great beers they have on tap they are going to become the new Stone or Russian River!!!! Awesome job and can't wait to visit again. Psh yea! I've been blocks away from this spot and only discovered it recently. This place is awesome. There are actually two spots next to one another that look almost identical and then there's also a little menu at a 3rd spot in the alley. Go to all 3. This is my type of place. I'm all over this and I highly recommend you drop in if you swing through Carpinteria and want to meet up with some cool locals. Staff is awesome, friendly and chill. Atmosphere is on point. The place is really tiny and private. A good ambiance to take the girlfriend! I really enjoyed the beer, very good quality. I tried the Saison and the Stout (Kaffa Queen). Unfortunately they still don't have growler on sale to go. They are doing great job brewing very creative beers. I'll be back for sure. Honestly one of my favorite breweries, period. They make amazing beers and I love that they feature a lot of local ingredients. It is not your same old boring everyday taplist which features a bunch of IPA's and Stouts and maybe a Pale or Pils. They always have more unique beers than they do everyday stuff. Owners are constantly behind the bar and always willing to talk about whats brewing. No food but they do work with local food trucks and an empanadas lady on certain days/nights so keep an eye out for those. This is an absolute gem of a brewery. These guys know how to really shake things up. Beers change often and the flavors vary from session-able sours to heavier stouts and hoppy ales. Usually there are 12-plus beers on tap and a kombucha. The pours are offered as 3 oz, half and full pours. I would recommend going out of your comfort zone here because I know you won't be disappointed. Che Empanadas offers food a couple days a week. It is right beside The Apiary, as well. I'm so glad I found this place. I've been to more breweries than I can count and am so sick of the same old offerings. It's refreshing to find a brewery of this size that truly makes an art of brewing beer. They had about 10 beers on tap and not a single beer was one you could find at another brewery or liquor store in the area. They were all good, but a few of them blew me away with their complexity and overall taste. The brewer behind the bar was super knowledgeable and cool to talk to. Brew Lab has the vibe of a place that has gotten back to the focus of making great beer without being flashy about it.
