I had a disappointing experience at Giovanni's Pizza in Carpinteria. The restaurant did not appear clean, which made the visit uncomfortable from the start. I also ordered the chicken sandwich, and the chicken seemed undercooked and not prepared properly. Overall, the cleanliness and food quality were both concerning. I hope management addresses these issues to improve the experience for future customers, but I won't be visiting this place again. read more

DOGS SITTING AT THE TABLE! DISGUSTING! They spilled their dog's water on the floor, and haven't even bothered to clean it up! Don't get me wrong, Giovanni's is an amazing place, the food here delicious, the service is always top tier; however, this is unacceptable. Dogs shouldn't be sitting at tables where others eat. I love dogs myself as well, I've had them since I was born, but this shouldn't be allowed. This really impacts the customers who come to Giovanni's, especially those with allergies! Once again, Giovanni's is the best pizza place I've ever been to, but such actions really make me question if I still want to have my pizza here. read more

Ordered over the phone for delivery for 3 extra large pizzas and 3 large antipasta salad. We had our food in had in 45 mins. The pizza was hot, fresh - We got 2 Giovanni's specials and 1 pepperoni. The salads are so yummy filled with cheese, meats, veggies, lettuce and the delicious Italian dressing. We had about 14 adults and 3 kids and we probably should have ordered 1 more pizza and 1 less salad but we were happy to eat the leftover salad the next day. We love Giovanni's!! Went here with my girlfriend while we were down at the beach. We both ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with no chicken. Now I'm sure the pizza here is really great but the Fettuccine was not. The pasta was probably not cooked long enough as it was too tough. The biggest problem was the amount of sauce I was given. It was almost an Alfredo soup. My girlfriend's dish did not look like that so I do not know what happened in the kitchen. The garlic bread was really good and at least I had some soup to dip it in. I was in a hurry so I crossed the street from Rusty's to see if Giovanni's sells slices. They said yes. They suggested the combination of slice, salad and soda and I said OK. It took quite a while to get the food even though no one else was there. But that wasn't the main problem. The main problem was the food. Food is a matter of taste. This did not match my taste at all. The pizza was on thick bread and I prefer thin. It was laden thick with cheese. That slice was probably a full day's worth of calories. The "salad" was lettuce and raw onions piled with more cheese. Another full day's worth of calories. I scraped off as much of the cheese as I could but it was still pretty awful. Maybe some people would like this food, but I am not coming back. Rusty's is so much better. I should have just done the Rusty's salad bar. Even if I got an individual pizza at Rusty's it would have taken the same amount of time. And it would have tasted good and not been an insane load of calories. My family of 4 had been going to Giovanni's on a regular basis for almost 2 years, pretty much weekly. So much so when my husband called they knew who he was and his order. Being a strict vegetarian for 25 years, I am limited on what I can order, so I would get the fettuccini or the eggplant parmesan, and a small salad. The food is good and we like that they are open till 9 pm, but after tonights experience with their customer service, my family will never be ordering form there ever again. My husband placed a phone order tonight for the eggplant parmesan and he was standing right next to me, so I am a witness to his placing the order. Within 5 minutes he went to go pick it up like usual, and when it came to opening my order I noticed there was chicken in it! We called right away as it was an obvious mistake, only to be greeted with a rude and sassy girl named Cassandra, who proceeded to gaslight us and say that's what we ordered. She did not back down on her version of events, even though I know there is no way he would ever even mention chicken in an order! She wanted us to repay for another order as she claimed that is what we ordered, and she was adamant we were in the wrong. I can guarantee that is not the case, but wouldn't it make sense to take care of a long term customer? I told her how upset I was and that we would never be going again, she only had attitude in return. I know it was 100 percent their mistake, and even if she didn't hear the order right, she should have done the right thing. I feel like remaking one $20 pasta dish is not worth losing a long time paying customer, and they did. read more

Pizza was ordered with Grubhub which is my main complaint. They said 30 minutes for delivery time but it was actually about 80 minutes till we got the pizza. So I blame grub hub for slow delivery and a cold pizza. The pizza itself was good NY STYLE Thin crust, a bit doughy but that's NY thin pizza. We ordered the Giovanni's special which has tons of toppings, both meat and veggies: onions, bell peppers, ham, olives, mushrooms, sausage and meatballs. The only complaint and minus a star was because the sausages were a bit undercooked. After waiting over an hour for pizza all the sausages were a bit pink inside. It's March 26, 2025. I had a takeout order they missed putting half of the order in the bag. I had to go back instead of a plate. They have paper thin plates, which are less usable for food than a disposable napkin at JACK IN THE BOX it was sad to see this place go downhill so much. It was last year years ago and had great memories. The young girl who took my money, seemed dazed and confused. Great food, especially the mozzarella cheese--the taste and consistency that I love. I had a pepperoni and black olive calzone. (Unfortunately, they do not offer green olives!). My wife had the Parmesan chicken sandwich, which was also delicious. The place was a little run down, not very clean, but the restrooms were nothing short of intolerable. The smell was really bad. There was no water to wash my hands! Thank goodness for some hand sanitizer on the premises. Avoid the restrooms! They were also out of Coca-Cola in the dispenser so I splurged for a bottled one that was warm; I had to ask for a cup with ice. So good!!!! One the best pizza places we ever gone too! The portion sizes are very generous and the prices are reasonable. Oh and their meatballs with the red sauce oh so delicious!
