Rusty is a great new taco place! They have put a fun twist on the traditional so don't expect authentic tacos. For example, we ordered a bbq brisket taco and a fried chicken taco. They are slightly larger than street tacos. I had three and some chips and salsa and was pretty full. I was also a fan of the habanero salsa. It was a good level of spicy but also had really good flavor. We had good service as well. They also have breakfast tacos but we haven't tried them yet. read more

It's time for the TSD (tea, scoop, dish) on Rusty Taco. Our favorite taco place is 20 minutes away so looking for something closer to home. The Bad Please for the love of all that is good, whatever you do, do not, I repeat DO NOT order the chorizo egg and cheese taco (ICK). I have had better in my work cafeteria, the egg is pre made and they use chorizo crumbles, easily the worst I've ever had (even my Valentina couldn't save it). The steak fajita tacos were simply ok, I probably wouldn't order them again. The Good My husband loved his food, specially the chicken fajita and rusty taco. It was busy but we got our food in a timely manner. We got to watch it being made, nice for the customers but the workers seemed annoyed by it. We heard twice that our order was messed up (putting onion when I said no onion and forgetting a taco) but the women calling out the orders fixed them before we got our food because she double checked them. The queso was SO good, we were literally fighting over the last of it (I won). Overall great atmosphere and nice employees and cashiers. Would I eat here again? Yes because my husband gave them a 4, and I say 2. So do simple math and voila they have a 3. Next time I'll try the shrimp or fish, hopefully my review will come out better next time. The order took a long time to complete. When I went to check on it they said they would do it next. I ordered corn tortillas due to allergy and they made one taco with flour. The food tasted good but the amount of time we waited was too long. read more

They are worried about us wearing a mask to order and pick our food up yet the rest of the restaurant isn't up to code to be open for the 6 ft rule. Impressed to say the least! There was plenty of taco options and various meets to pick from. The person who took our order was very friendly and the person who called our name was also very friendly and helpful. My husband and I both felt we got a good amount of meat and sauce for the price of the taco. Two things that prevent this place from being 5 stars in my opinion is the way quality of meat, don't get me wrong it was good and had flavor but the pork, beef and chicken just seemed like some of the flavor had been booked out of it. Although the shrimp was fresh from the grill and was perfect! Second thing was the taco was also semi cold , we ate right away and the tortilla and meat just wasn't hot! Omg I am so upset, ordered from here for the first time last night and received the team favorite taco undercooked and its chicken! Bit into the corner and the chicken was rubbery so I looked and it was definitely undercooked. We ordered the family meal and kids meal and mexican corn. On top of the undercooked chicken thats making my stomach upset right now we didn't receive our queso or drinks. Spent over 10 minutes on the phone with eric trying just trying to find my order when I called to report the issue. Anyways leaving stars since my family enjoyed the fish and shrimp tacos. Tried it on a whim for lunch on our way back home. A place like this deserves 5 stars. They have a varied, but not overly-complicated menu, food comes out fast, food is very good, and service is friendly. Whole place seems clean and cared for. The poblana, shrimp, rusty, and a few others are all great. They had a cheese crisp for the little one in the group, and lots of cold beer, fountain drinks, and Mexican sodas on ice too. Free refills on the chips and salsa is awesome. This place is going to replace backyard taco for our nearby taco shop if the quality and service stays this good. We ordered online and had it delivered thru door dash. We got the 6 taco family meal that came with chips/salsa/queso and I ordered an extra chips/guacamole. When our order arrived it was missing the extra chips,however, the guacamole was included and was not edible. It was brown and could tell it wasn't fresh. The Tex mex taco we got was so greasy we could barely eat it. It seems the busier they get, the quality goes down. One of my wife's favorite fast eats in the East Valley and this place is growing on me. We usually go around dinner time (5-7pm) and is usually pretty busy, where the line is often out the door on Friday and Saturday's. However, the line does move pretty quick. Check out the menu while waiting in line as they offer some unique types of tacos and the menu can be a bit overwhelming once you get to the register. The food does come out quickly (usually within a couple mins) once you place your order. And while it doesn't look like a lot of food, 2-3 tacos and a side of chips and guac and you won't leave hungry. My favorites are the #11 BBQ brisket taco (hold the slaw) and the #1 Picadillo taco. Note that the tacos are by default served on corn tortillas, which is what I always get, however, they also have flour tortillas on request. Tip: Since this place gets busy, instead of the wife and I both waiting in line, one of us will keep an eye out to snag an open table and just text the other their order. read more

So went there apparently during the lunch rush and it was pretty darn packed. But I can see why! It took a little while for us to get the food. We ordered about 8 different tacos, churro, corn, and guac. Their fish is amazing and my favorite as well as their mexican corn. I was so excited that they had churros but I was a little bummed when I bit into it as it was filled with caramel and no where did it say that the churros were filled. Overall though it was a great place to grab some tacos. We'll be returning when it's not so packed. read more

I've been here 2x now and after yesterday, I won't be back. Some of their menu items are really good - pretty flavorful tacos, queso has a good kick, and you can't beat a $5 margarita. Other items aren't so great, like the guac is pretty salty, salsa is average, and their veggie tacos aren't too exciting. However, I went in yesterday and ordered a shrimp taco. The shrimp and Baja sauce on it were super flavorful and I was enjoying eating it. A few bites in, I notice some large brown spots in the taco. Upon opening it up to look, there were hunks of meat in it. I eat fish every once in a while (like when I'm out somewhere with great fish tacos!), but I haven't eaten meat in years. To see such large pieces of it in the food I was currently eating was disgusting to me. I went up to the counter and showed the employee working and the music was SO loud in the place that I'm not sure if she even heard me, and I definitely didn't hear her respond at all. She walked over to the other employee putting together the tacos and they inspected what I presume was the shrimp container to see if there was meat in it and then brought me another taco. Again, saying nothing (if she did, I sure couldn't hear her over the loud music). While I appreciate that she made me another taco, I was nauseous trying to finish the rest of my meal thinking about how I just definitely ate meat. It also would have been nice to hear an apology just to provide some customer service. When I go out to eat, I trust a restaurant to provide me with food that I order and as a pescatarian, if there's no meat listed on the item I order, then I definitely don't expect to accidentally eat meat! I give 3 stars because some things are actually pretty good here, but if I can't trust you not to cross contaminate good like that, then I won't be coming back. I hope they follow up on this to explain to their employees how important it is to be careful when making the food. When it's such a small street taco that you're putting a few things on, there's absolutely no reason that this should occur. read more

Had Rusty Taco for lunch yesterday...little behind on writing the review. Overall, we really liked it! We tried several different tacos (Rusty, Picadillo, Brisket, grilled fish and fried fish), as well as chips w guacamole and queso. Highest praise to the queso, delicious! Chips were also good, salty and crispy! I LOVED the rusty taco and the fish tacos were both really good. I would say average rating on the picadillo and brisket...both were kind of bland. We did a mix of flour and corn tortillas, both were good. We got the food to go, but noticed the restaurant was really clean and trendy, sort of a Chipotle feel...complete w beers and margaritas! If you're in the mood for fast casual tacos, this is a great spot...will definitely be back w a goal to try all the tacos! Walking into this taco joint I took in the loud talking, music and energetic atmosphere. It was opening night so I was happy to see a crowd already patronizing the establishment. I took a quick glance at the menu online before we went so I knew what I wanted - two grilled fish tacos and a margarita. But then ... what do my wandering eyes should appear but a fried chicken taco! Are u kidding me??? Sounds weird but being an expert on delicious and crispy chicken tenders I had to test it out. I def suggest u try this item! It was crunchy with the perf amount of sauce and cilantro. I really enjoyed the thin corn tortillas too. We started out with the trio grande - guac, salsa and queso with chips. The salsa was incredible and more like a thick hot sauce than a chunky salsa. The quac was fresh and thick with tomato and onion, tased very much like the simple and delish guac the way it should be, not too much added seasonings or lemon that u get at a lot of places. The queso was blah but queso is not my thing so whatev. We ordered 7 tacos and two margaritas on the rocks along with our appy was 39 bucks. My hub and I are not big fans of ordering at the counter and waiting for our food and Rusty Taco reminded us why. Half way thru our dinner I had to get up, stand in line and wait 5 to 10 mins to get more drinks. Their orange creamy habanero sauce left me no other choice, it's freakin FIRE! My husband loved it. So that's a downside to not having table service but what ya gonna do. We didn't have a taco that we didn't like. Service was friendly. Tiny two top tables scattered around way too close to one another and the food comes on huge trays so the whole time ur eating ur trying to reach around things and not knock stuff off the table. On a Saturday morning when my wife wanted breakfast and I wanted lunch this was the perfect compromise. They serve their breakfast tacos all day! Their chips were standard but the fresh made guacamole was delicious. Unfortunately that was the only thing that really wowed me. The prices were typical for street tacos and the restaurant was clean with friendly staff. However, the food wasn't as good as I expected for a place this busy. I had the chicken fajita taco, which was basically grilled, not very well seasoned chicken with some pico on a dry stiff corn tortilla. My Baja shrimp taco was mildly better thanks to their Baja sauce, but still not great. I would probably go to Backyard Tacos before coming here again. But my true love is Sandbar Tacos.
