We've been going to the Gilbert location since 2019. The food is always good and fresh. The store manager, Mike, is always kind!

Insanely delicious and INSANELY CHEAP. For Del Taco prices, you can get stunning tacos, a fun, energetic atmosphere and superb staff. I am not lying. Went today, with my mom and we fell in love. Once you step in and look at the menu, you'll expect Rod Serling to jump out and narrate your Twilight Zone episode. Yes. At the time of this review, the tacos range between $2-$3. I kid you not. And they are worth every cent. Black bean tacos are a MUST for vegans and vegetarians. I ordered them and bob howdy, did I fall in love. I ordered two more to take home. There's something for everyone on this menu. Staff members were so attentive and friendly, it was scary. But in a great, refreshing way. Pretty good food and reasonable price. The shrimp tacos and fried chicken were great full of flavor. The beef tacos were good however the strips of meat were a little to thick making it hard to chew. Will definitely come back. read more

The 5 stars are for the churro alone! People are sleeping on them. Hands down the best churro EVER! I literally go there just for that. I wish I had a picture to add before I gobbled them down. Great food but man oh man they need to work on better service we eat there about three times a week because we love the food but may not be going any more or so often as it takes so long to get your order average time for 6 tacos and chips with cheese queso takes like 15-20 min most times about 15-20 people in the place. Half with food and half with out . Please work on your process for the love of tacos!! read more

Tried for the first time. Food was pretty good. But I ran up against their "bottomless" salsa rules. I ordered 5 tacos, chips w/ queso, and two large sodas. $35 total. The queso is my wife's thing, so I wanted some salsa for the chips. But wasn't allowed to get any salsa. If you want salsa for the chips you have to buy it. But after our tacos came out we could have all the salsa we want. It's a small thing, but it was annoying. They say the salsa is "bottomless". So if I can have all the salsa I want after my tacos come out, why limit salsa at all? Why not just check my receipt to be sure that I bought tacos, and then give me all the salsa I want? Anyway, I took off stars because I had to eat dry chips waiting for my tacos to come out. The pettiness of their rules irritated me. And overall the experience was a let down. I probably won't eat there again. read more

Ok.... Why do people buy franchises and not "work" them? Thought I would order some tacos (online) for pick up... employees were sweet/nice but daaaaaaaang, if I had not ordered online (and saw the place), I would have walked out before even placing my order!! The floor is like a "grease (ice) rink"... there was food all over the floor and one employee sitting facing the dining area with his butt crack and boils/zits greeting the guests (he may have been a guest but he had a rusty taco tee shirt on that matched all of the other employees. Oh my Fries Chicken tacos!!!!! These are an absolutely must. Every taco has been great but these are next level. While the tacos are small (and priced accordingly), these things burst with hidden flavor! Don't be fooled if they appear dry - the my hide the secret sauce below the met. So far everything has been pretty top notch. Great service, insanely fast, cheap and filling. My wife and I normally fill up on about 2-3 tacos each and some chips & queso. The queso is pretty simple, but gets the job done. Just sometimes wish the food came out a few minutes slower so we can enjoy as more of an appetizer (I know, who wishes the food would take longer, lol) The only gripe we have is the food doesn't come very hot. It's always at a warm temperature, which is great to start eating right away, but it does mean it gets cold pretty quick. If there's anything we could change it would be to add a little more heat before serving so we can enjoy those flavors a little longer. read more

I ordered the spicy chicken taco and a crispy shrimp taco, both were fantastic. I would have snapped a photo, but I was on an awkward first date. If you like spicy, try the habenero salsa! If you're going to have a taco shop you better have a good variety of tacos, and this place sure does! But if you're going to charge $2-$4 for a taco you better wow me. This place didn't. I got a fried chicken taco with queso and bacon. The chicken strip was not tender and overcooked. I also got the dynamite shrimp taco which had a good flavor but overcooked shrimp, making them too chewy. Other tacos we got were brisket and roasted pork. The portion of meat did not equal the price. Queso was okay, tasted like rotel mixed in thinned out velvetta (loaded with brisket for $2 more not worth it). The guac was a weird color green, not bright green like the inside of an avocado. And sopapillas were $2.50 for 3 small triangles that were too brown from being over fried, see my picture. What The Rusty Taco does have going for it is a cool and casual vibe. But if I'm in the area, I'm probably not going to choose Rusty Taco. read more

We decided on a whim to check out this new joint we saw in our neighborhood. Rusty Taco went beyond our expectations. Each taco is ordered separately so we were able to try a wide variety. My personal favorite was the shrimp taco while my fiancé enjoyed the rusty taco. We hit the place just in the nick of time for their loco hour so we were able to enjoy our margaritas for $3, what a deal! Overall the staff was friendly and helpful, the establishment was very well kept and the food and drinks were outstanding. We will definitely be making this a regular spot. read more

First visit yesterday on Cinco De Mayo. Ordered a grilled fish taco, a fried fish taco, and a spicy ground beef taco. I am giving Rusty Tacos 3 stars based on that order. The fried fish taco was over cooked and had hard places in it that were not edible. The grilled fish was better but lacked flavor. The ground beef taco was probably the tastier of the 3, but based on how extremely tiny these tacos are and not really that great tasting, at $3 each I probably will not return. There is a lot of competition out there so you have to bring your A game to the table when it comes to tacos in Arizona. Staff was very friendly and my order was taken promptly within minutes of looking at menu. The salsas were really good and my favorite was the red salsa followed by the spicy orange colored salsa. Room for a lot of improvement based on taste alone. I didn't try anything else so if any of my friends want to try this place I will maybe try something different there. read more

Stopped here today for lunch and was really surprised at how much we both agreed that this was not a very good experience. We ordered 4 tacos each and we were laughing that we would not be able to work the rest of the day with that much food. We both tried the Specialty Fish Taco along with our other selections, as you have to try the "Specialty" right? Boy we're we wrong. When we received the tray, we had to go back up to have them tell us what each one was as they were so small and covered with lettuce, we couldn't tell. The fish was defiantly not special as it was so small and such little fish, that the flavor was depressing. The rest were just average little street tacos that were really small and nothing special. We spent over $40 for 8 tacos and two small drinks which would have been fine if they were amazing. We also left wondering what we were each doing for dinner as the fear we had prior, did not happen. Rusty needs to make the Tacos a little bigger and a lot more exciting. read more
