Came here for Sunday brunch and my friends and I, were highly disappointed. I had the shrimp and grits. The grits were overcooked and somewhat hardened and was bland. One of my friends had the chicken and waffles and didn't eat most of her meal because the waffles lacked flavor unless it was supposed to taste like a plain rice cake with syrup and the chicken was on the dry side. Another friend ordered the catfish and it had way too much panko and breadcrumbs that you could barely taste the catfish. We only ate the food because we had already began to indulge in the unlimited drinks and needed food in our stomachs. We were so unsatisfied, that we had to leave there and seek out somewhere else to eat smh. I only gave the 2 stars because the drinks, service, music, and ambience were really good! read more

Rustik Tavern - Unlimited Bellinis... #SundayBrunchin - American Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

My favorite brunch place hands down. The food is always delicious and fresh and the staff is always friendly.

Had brunch yesterday at a Rustik Tavern for the first time. Overall I had a great experience. Food was great. Portions were huge. Chill ambience. Cute little yard. Waitress was great and kept the boozy drinks coming! Would definitely visit again. read more

We rented their event space for a bridal shower. They allowed us to come several hours before the actual event to set up which allowed us to completely transform the place. Our point of contact was a man named Denzel and he was great!! The food was AMAZING and all of our guests had a great time and enjoyed themselves. Definitely would recommend the space for anyone planning an intimate event. Please see photos attached all taken by me. read more

I had visited this restaurant for brunch with my parents. The food was amazing and the service KEITH gave us was PHENOMENAL. He was very quick to give us what we needed without us having to ask. His initiative was exceptional. I am so appreciative of Keith's service and the quality of food. If I could, I would give this place a 12 out of 5. AMAZING! read more

Met a girlfriend for dinner last night, and I thought the place was cozy and friendly. Seems to be a neighborhood spot for the locals which was kinda cool. The food was good...nothing uniquely different from any other fusion type soul food joint. Would eat there again for the coziness of the location and cool vibe. Good job Rustik! read more

Walking into Rustik for brunch on a Saturday, (as I find myself doing more and more often lately) is quite the experience. I really didn't expect to find a place with such an awesome old-school feel, playing awesome music from the likes of the Beatles and the Beach Boys in our area. I especially didn't expect to find such an awesome yard, and fantastic kitchen serving up great food and bottomless drinks so close to my apartment; this place is amazing, and with such great servers (the time limit seems to be quite flexible for boozy brunch....), it can get you into trouble - in a seriously fun way. Brunch is the best meal of the week, I think we can all agree on this fact; I am personally an avid bruncher, and nothing makes me as happy as getting to gather with some good friends enjoying a meal and drinks (preferably unlimited) with no stress or agenda. It can be a bit scary taking a risk or gamble with this most enjoyable of times, especially with a city that has so many amazing places to offer (God bless our city and all the wonderfully fun places we have to waste a perfectly good Sunday away). Let me rest any fears you may have about this place to rest; if you like a good, long brunch with copious amounts of booze and some seriously tasty food, Rustik is a place worth checking out. Walking in you'll find a big wooden beer closet, with visible kegs (really antique looking, and really cool), a smallish bar in a large main room, and an epic yard in the back (only open when it's warm). The staff has been very welcoming and warm every time we've been in telling us to sit where we like, which if you know me is like asking "bar or yard?". Either way you're in good hands, both the servers and bartenders are nice, and almost as importantly, attentive (no one likes an empty brunch glass). They offer up a pretty standard brunch drink selection - mimosas, champagne, Bloody Marys, and (my personal favorite) bellinis. The food menu is a little on the limited side, but everything they serve tastes as good as it looks. The burger served on a large English muffin is particularly good (spring for the cheddar and bacon - you're welcome future you), as are the chicken and waffles. If you don't live off the G, this place can be a bit of a pain to get to, but with its amazing yard and laid back atmosphere, Rustik is a must try for any true NYC brunch enthusiast. read more

The food here is great! The vibe is cool. I just love coming here. You really have to make a reservation for brunch on the weekends but it's usually an hour wait if you don't. One of my favorite places to eat at in Brooklyn! read more

After leaving piquant restaurant, because of their lack of diversity,we ended up at Rustik. Did not have reservations, but understand the wait. While waiting at bar there. Was a party of four who finished their brunch, but decided to play uno at their table. It behoves that a restaurant that had such a long wait would allow someone to play games at the table while there was customers are waiting to be seated. After over one hour we finally found seating at the bar. After sitting at bar over two hours the same group was still playing games. Not only is this inconsiderate when you have customers still waiting, but the establishment should understand the money they are losing from that table, and other customers seeing this. Rustik is a lovely establishment and it is not worth the wait. read more

Went here for Fathers Day with my man,it's a nice comfy place,I loved the music playing in the background while I eat my meal and a great selection of tunes, when we first got there it wasn't that many people in there, but it didnt stay that way for long,I made a reservation through yelp,so I was seated right away our waitress was Vicki very nice young young lady, very attentive, kept our glasses filled,I had the chicken and waffles the man had the grits with shrimp, the food was good but it wasn't hot,it was barely warm,we didn't complain because I never send food back, but it was good,I would have liked to sit outside but I didn't request it when I made the reservations because I didn't know if it was gonna rain, but it turned out to be a nice day,I would definitely go back again...I would just recommend they make sure the food is hot,but overall I had a good experience,I will go again read more

Dvae F., you're right. I'm with Diana M. on this one. Great decor, really cozy, roomy, spacious. Patio. Food sucks. I've tried it several times now and went in for Wing Night last night, which is really what this review is about. My server/bartender didn't know it was wing night until I informed him via the sign advertising as such outside the bar. The sign also advertised bucket of beer specials, and when I asked about specials he said there were none. Whatever, I let that one go and resigned myself to a $6 beer. Ok, stuff I don't care about aside, let's move onto the wings: They sucked. They were big and meaty, but I don't really care about that. In fact, I like em a little smaller because then I can eat more of them. Eating buffalo wings is not only delicious, but a fun activity. I've had some really tasty tiny wings. They were breaded. ugh. They weren't spicy. They weren't hot, temperature-wise, like they'd sat for a while, also causing gross-ass breading to become sodden, even grosser. The bleu cheese dressing was really sweet. They came with ketchup on the side, for some unbeknown reason. Sigh. Still no good wings around. I'd give this place two stars if it weren't for how good-looking it was inside. read more

Went last night and I was in for a nice little treat of free comedy. First Wednesdays of the month are the night and you can get a seat at the bar and laugh your tail off for the cost of a drink. The happy hour is worth a trip on the G train and a short cut through the projects. $3 house wine had me a hello. Not to mention the apricot glazed wings are suck-your-fingers-in-public good, seriously, turn away because this is happening. The crowd is good; mature, friendly, and cool enough for the gentrifiers without being too bland and sterilized for the native Clinton Hillers. A solid spot in the Bed-Stuy/Cinton Hill area and the bartender/waitress Megan will take care of you, she's a sweetie! read more

This place has a lot of character. I hate bars with character. I mean, Christ, they can't even spell "rustic" properly! That's character. The giant old fashioned meat locker that they use to store soda right by the entrance that they appropriated from the previous space. That's character. The giant plasma TV showing sports in such a place as to distract you from your dining or drinking companions...well, that's not character, that's just crap. Speaking of crap, let's talk about the food. Or rather, let's not. It's not worth going here for the food. It might be worth going here for the drinks, if they didn't cost Manhattan prices. The service, as far as it goes, is pretty indifferent. I think they'd prefer you go somewhere else, and just mail them money from time to time. I'll do the former, but not the latter. read more

I've been long overdue for an update.I had to give this place another shot because I always hear great reviews about their brunch. My first visit was in the evening but my perspective shifted during my brunch visit. I came with a party of 10 and the service was great and the food was delicious. Collectively we all tried everything on the menu and I wasn't disappointed. I loved that their bottomless drinks aren't just limited to mimosas so that was a huge plus for us. The music selection had us lit but it wasn't too loud so we were still able to enjoy our conversations. Definitely will be returning. read more

Sorry, Rustik-- I'm demoting you by two full stars for poor service. We waited for nearly 10 minutes to be acknowledged (not seated, but acknowledged) by the hostess. By the way- several servers saw us and did nothing. One server finally coaxed the hostess into giving us some attention. After being seated we waited for 20 minutes without being greeted by our server. Fed up, we left. The only reason I'm not stooping to one star is because my first experience there (years ago now) was so positive. read more

The DJ was amazing but we never saw our food. I literally grew a beard waiting for the food. When we confronted the manager, he said "Did you get to order?", when we answered in the affirmative, he said "just get outta here, it's on me," referring to the drinks and lukewarm coffees we'd consumed whilst waiting an eternity just to ask the server what was up. Speaking of the server, I forgot who she was because we saw her exactly once. She fully just disappeared. My friends and I are on my way to Wendy's now. That's how desperate we are. The DJ was really sick tho. read more

First of all, THIS MAKES ME SO SAD TO WRITE. Rustik was one of my favorite places in the neighborhood to eat and drink at. Like so much so that I made a yelp account JUST to give them 5 stars awhile back. Seriously, it's the only review I've ever written. Look at my page. Seriously, I made an account just for you guys. Now I'm sure that I'll never go back. Mind you this is not for the quality of food, this is strictly for service of both the "waiter" and the bar. Anyway, to the actual experience: We had a Groupon. It consisted of "2 craft cocktails or beers, 1 appetizer, and 2 entrees" awesome. First we ordered our 2 craft cocktails. I ordered the Old Rustik Cuban. Overly sweet, but the description lent itself to that, so I'll take the blame. However, there was absolutely no trace of mint, including no garnish of mint sprig. (If it says it on the menu, I know it's missing). My BF ordered the Diablo. It was awesome. Spicy, and awesome. However, again, it was missing the garnish of a lime wedge. (Again, if it says it on the menu, let's put it on there!) Before we ordered our entrees, we ordered the Ribs as our appetizer and asked to separately add a Caeser Salad. Ribs were great. Caeser was great. Awesome. Entrees- Perfect timing when our entrees came out. Yay! Shrimp and Chips. A lot of shrimp, cooked well- awesome. BF got the Steak Frites, rare, and it was good. After all was said and done, we wanted to add a beer and another cocktail. I asked to have the stout and angry orchard layered (which is on their online menu as an option), waiter looked confused so I said if the bar didn't know how, just an angry orchard was fine. Of course I was just handed the angry orchard. BF ordered the 471 (a hendricks and champagne cocktail). Again, this cocktail was served with out it's stated garnish, and this cocktail really needed some lemon. IS THIS DUDE FOR REAL. not the end of the world, but come on man. And, finally, the dessert. We ordered the Rustik's Fried Cheesecake, said to be served in a puff pastry with strawberry sauce. Well, out came a slice of cheesecake.. and a brown goo on top. We tried it, tasted like caramel. What? At this point the server just ignored us for upwards of 10 minutes until we could finally flag him down. We asked him if this was the Fried Cheesecake and he said no, the kitchen has changed the menu, and they stopped frying it. I was like ok.. well is this supposed to be strawberry sauce? And his response was a dirty look and "no, the kitchen changed the whole recipe". -_____- . Why wouldn't you say that when we ordered it? So we asked if we could have the peach cobbler instead, because we really wanted something more fruity. AND THEN THE BILL. Got the bill and it was almost twice what we should have owed. I called him over to ask him to explain, and he said the Groupon had already been redeemed and he couldn't do anything about it. What happened was he used the caesar salad ($6) instead of the steak as the entree, and used the cheaper beer and cocktail we added at the end instead of the first two cocktails we ordered and announced as part of the Groupon. (This was a difference of $26.) His response with my confusion was "I don't make the rules, I can't do anything about it." We asked to see a manager, and his response was there was no manager there. He got angry, threw down his hands and walked away. I handed him my CC, and asked "Are you really not going to even apologize or offer a comp'd drink, or something?" And he said "I'm a server, I don't make the rules". Mind you I am a server, and have been for 6 years. I currently bartend and serve in Brooklyn. This was by far the worst I have ever been treated at a restaurant, and I would never work in a place where this kind of behavior is tolerated. I am embarrassed, for myself and for this server's coworkers. Your kitchen and the other servers that I've had before there don't deserve to lose customers this way. From 5 stars down to 1. That will be the last you see of me Rustik. =/ read more

Both times I've been here the waitresses were not familiar w/the specialty drink menu featured on the website. In the first instance, I asked another customer if she could look up the site on her laptop (they do have free wifi), in the second, I took to surfing on my phone. Not a bad deal. Relatively inexpensive, a short walk from the house, and a pretty relaxed and friendly atmosphere. They just need to get their act together. read more

Rustik Tavern is the sort of place you could go to every week and love every bite, if you're into that sort of thing. When I went for the first time, I way over ate (salmon burger, if you care), met some fantastic people that worked there and got to watch some production crew filming a mysterious TV show (the filming was probably more entertaining then the show would be- score!). When I went there for the second time... I made the $3 happy hour specials! Doesn't include their cocktails, but well drinks and anything on tap is good enough for me. read more

I've been here several times, and it's always a great time- drinks are creative and potent, service is friendly, DJ is great on weekend nights and I love the cute patio in the back. I've also planned a dinner that took place here, in the private room. As a professional event planner, my standards are high and sometimes dealing with small venues can be frustrating because of the lack of communication and usually a bartender or host filling in as an event planner. Not the case here. Planning was a breeze, and the event went off very smoothly! Great food (the ribs are so good!), service for the large group was courteous but didn't intrude on our gathering, and afterwards, we joined the party outside in the bar area for those that wanted to stick around later. Frantz, the owner, was there both before and after the event to make sure everything was perfect. This is a great place to host a dinner for friends, or any small gathering! Highly recommended. read more

This place is so comfy! We sat in the backyard for hours. I ordered a house vodka & cranberry which was delicious. My friend ordered a Caesar salad & bbq wings. The 'salad' was some romaine lettuce with cheese & pepper sprinkled on top with 4 squares of toasted bread. She was not impressed & sent it back. She loved the wings though. Our waitress Rachel was so awesome. She frequently checked up on us as we were the only 2 people in the backyard. She took really good care of us. I would go back in a heart beat. We had a really good time. read more

I visited for the first time today. I was early for my reservation and was seated immediately. Great music, food and vibe. I will be back!

I came here on a sunday and did i fall and bump my head. I was told to call and put in my reservation and yet i did not and we waited about 2 hours for a table. Was the wait worth it, yes the hell it was. The food was great. I had ordered steak and eggs and my friend ordered the chicken n waffle. She also had the unlimited mimosas or belinies which can be a problem in a crowded place. My only issue was the lack of space. They fit a beautiful small resturant into a tiny space. Nothing but elbow to elbow service that no one ordered. But will i go back,,,, yes i would. read more

The Cheers of Bed-Stuy. Although its only been around for 5-10 years, Rustik has quickly become one of the historic neighborhood's institutional mainstays. You're not going to find an elaborate bar menu nor a fancy overpriced drinks with fancy names. This is just a really consistent and friendly place. Good food and good drinks.
