I came here on Friday for a cocktail and desert. Once I looked at the menu I couldn't decided between a Cesar salad or peach cobbler. I chose the peach cobbler and a sprite. No cocktail for me. The peach cobbler was really good. Not too much nutmeg and cinnamon and sweet. It came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream which was lovely. The service was great. The server was attentive to me. Such a cute little spot with an outdoor patio. I clearly late to this place. We arrived early for our reservation but opted to sit at the bar instead for brunch. Bar tender, hostess, and servers were all so friendly. Such a good vibe from the team. The shrimp and avocado tostones are sooooo good. I came here for brunch and failed to make a reservation, I was told there was no availability and we couldn't be accommodated.. I wasn't even offered a wait time, I had to point out to the host an empty table for 2 was available and all she had to do was put another chair for my party of 3. She then sat us. I ordered the fish and grits, brussel sprouts and deviled eggs. Fish abs grits were a 7, and so were the deviled eggs, the brussel sprouts were a 4, it tasted like pure hot sauce and nothing else. I came here for brunch to celebrate my friend's amazing news, her engagement! We were seated indoors at the upper level next to the outside seating area (which was unfortunately still wet from the rain but looked really nice). I felt bad that we were too busy catching up that when our waitress returned we didn't have our orders ready. The staff was beyond attentive and patient with us. Answered our questions about the menu without hesitation and checked in on us during the meal. We finally ordered the Shrimp n Grits, Banana French Toast and Eggs Benedict. The first two were delicious, french toast was sweet and shrimp n grits hearty. The third was also good but seemed overcooked at first. Once my friend got to the middle of the egg then it started to ooze that yolky goodness. Im proud to say we cleared our plate willingly. My only qualm was the $6 for 3 pieces of bacon which granted I didn't need but was a want for any breakfast of mine. Wish it came with the toast at least and wasn't a separate order. We sat towards the back in the upper section. To drink, they were out of the sangria so I had the greyhound cocktail. It was fruity and juicy, but didn't really taste like grapefruit. My partner got the sidecar and enjoyed the tangy flavor. To eat, I ordered the omelet with avocado. I found a piece of plastic in my dish so they had to remake it. This was unfortunate but after the fix, I enjoyed the food. The omelet was loaded with veggies and tasted fresh. The breakfast potatoes were well seasoned. For dessert, we shared the peach cobbler. It was topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was delicious, with a crispy top layer and large peach slices. Despite the issue with my entree, I'd recommend this place. Each time the experience is better than the last, and interestingly enough I abandon my need to have the same meal as I so often do. Love this spot so much! I wish it were closer because I'd be there ALL THE TIME! Went here after church one day with a girlfriend. We had a great time! The food was hot and delicious, the mimosa was mimosa'ing and the music playing was on point! It was quite busy due to beautiful weather we were having that day so it took a little while to get the waiters' attention even with a reservation. However, it was worth the wait. We ordered the shrimp tostones I believe it was called for our appetizer, my friend had the chicken and waffles, while I had the shrimp and grits. The appetizer was an eclectic dish of cooked shrimp atop fried green plantains, with pickled cabbage, carrots and avocado. It packed a punch but it was delicious and a great starting plate. My friend said she enjoyed her food but that the chicken had a bit more salt than needed but it was fine otherwise. My shrimp and grits were delectable! I tore that up! It was in the dish and then it wasn't, lol. I wish they had free refills on it because I would've easily devoured another serving! Lol. The mimosa carafe we had was made with love. Finally got a chance to pop in here. I've heard nothing but good things about Rustik Tavern. Black Owned Business is always a highlight for me. Please be advised this review reflects a happy hour experience, not a busy dinner/brunch. Upon entering there are high tops to the left and regular seating along the left wall. Walking further in you have the bar to the right with seating. There are separate men's & women's bathrooms past the bar (one at a time). Towards the back is another level for seating and an outdoor seating area. AC works! There are hooks at the bar to hand your belongings. This place believes in happy hour (4pm-7pm for select wines and cocktails). Ray served me at the bar. Greeted me when I walked in and was attentive throughout my time here. I had a glass of the Chenin Blanc, the Rustik Pink Lemonade (vodka based), a spicy tequila cocktail, and the Shrimp Avocado Tostones. The lemonade went down waaayyy too easy, so be careful. Ray customized my tequila drink to make it extra spicy! was pleasantly surprised about the food because I did not know how these flavors were going to turn out. Shrimp was fully cooked & flavorful, the tostones were tostone'ing (Garlic and salt were just right) and the avocado spread was a great mix to bring the whole thing together. As far as the vibe, music is just the right volume to fall in to the flow but still have a conversation. A nice playlist of soul/neo-soul/house to just make you feel at ease while here. This is a nice neighborhood gem. I typically enjoying coming here but not today. A group of 4 arrived close to open the heat was not working - it happens they tried. Food: chicken and waffles - the waffles were delicious but the chicken was overcooked. The Rustik Omelette - too salty adding salt and using a salty cheese just ruins the taste - lets the customer season their food when it comes to the omelette. The salmon sliders did not hit the spot they tasted old only the coleslaw saved it - as did the fries but the sliders were a fail. Service took too long as there was only 1 waitress but understandably I will not complain on that - for Sunday brunch they need to better staff. read more

This is my 3rd time at Rustik. Unfortunately, my least favorite. I came here for brunch and everything was just ok. Made a reservation on Yelp and really didn't need to. On a Saturday at about 1pm there were plenty of seats. I arrived and there was no one at the hostess stand but my friend was already seated so I walked over to her. I'm not sure what I expected but was sort of disappointed with the brunch Menu. I hadn't been there in years but thought there was more on the menu. I ordered a Bellini and a chicken and waffles. The bellini was fine. The chicken and waffles were just ok. The chicken looked so sad. I was expecting bone in chicken but got boneless chicken. The chicken had flavor but didnt feel freshly cooked. The waffles were soft. I usually like my waffles to be crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. What kind of made it worse for me was another table arrived after us and recieved their chicken and waffles and the chicken was hot and fresh. My chicken looked totally different then theirs. So there clearly was an inconsistency with the cook. Towards the end it got a little busy and service got slower. All in all, wasn't the best experience for brunch. read more

The vibes here are also great - it's cozy on the inside with exposed brick and plenty of tvs for sports, but it's doesn't feel like a rowdy sports bar. I did not have a favorable experience here, unfortunately. Even before my arrival, I was slightly bothered by my mother being forced to sit outside for about 25-30 minutes before I got here. I was going out with my mother and she got there before me-- she called me while I was driving over because the hostess informed her you needed a reservation and they had no openings until after 3PM. I found this peculiar; I decided to look quickly online and saw a 1:30 and 1:45 reservation time. I attempted to call, but it was too many prompts to actually get a human. Ultimately I arrived and I go speak to the hostess and she offered me a seat at the bar, but I declined. She said to give her a second and she came back and told me I could be seated. I saw a couple of tables empty outside. In addition, within 10 minutes all but three tables were unoccupied-- so I was confused at to what the difficulty was in seating my mother. By this point, I'm slightly perturbed, but both the hostess and server were very nice and cordial. We order rather quickly and the food doesn't take very long to come out. We both ordered a few sides and I had a drink (Sidecar), which was decent. I had eggs, grits and home fries-- none of the food items were anything to write home about. My mother wasn't pleased with her similar items-- I believe she said her grits had onions, which she found weird. The ambiance in the back was decent and the music playing inside was okay, but overall I wasn't pleased with anything aside from the server and hostess being personable. read more

first of all. we had to move tables 2 times because the band had to set up. we were moved once and then the band told us they needed more space so we moved AGAIN. did the waiter not know the band would be in today and have to set up?? i was very confused. the service was awful. i was there with my friend and few people were at the bar and that's IT. there were two people working. every. single. time we had to call one of them over to ask for something, whether that be to order something or for the check. they were either talking to people they knew they were eating food while at work?? the artichoke dip was so watery it made my stomach hurt so bad the next morning. the brownie tasted like store bought brownie and it was not good. we even ordered calamari at the same time we ordered the dip and he did tell us they were chopping it up and had to wait a little bit and we said okay to that. tell me why he brought out the dip, we ate it. ordered another drink, drank it. time goes by and the calamari still isn't here. 5 minutes later our brownie is brought out to us. after we eat the brownie we decide we're full and don't need the calamari. we call over the waitress and tell her hey could we cancel the calamari we're actually full just wanna let you know before it comes out. she says to us. oh we never put it in....like THANK GOD but are u kidding me?? we asked for 3 things how did you possibly forget? only things that were good were the drinks. we even were given a free drink on the side at the end of our meal because the waiter knew he was doing a bad job at checking in on us. we even had to go up to the bar to ask for the check. and remember! there was NO ONE THERE!! bad experience and definitely not worth the money/time. disappointed cause i wanted to support a black business. read more

Overall rating: 4.2 I was in the neighborhood with a friend and we stumbled on this spot. The waffles of the chicken & waffles were so good. I kinda still think about them.. However, while we were a walk-in, the host said every seat is reserved and that we had to sit at the bar. Totally fine. What I don't understand is.. for the full 90+ minutes we were there- we saw 4 tables that were empty the entire time. What gives?! I don't understand the logic but I'm hurt. There was a nice table for 2 looking outside the window that was empty the entire time. On top of that, the beer was flat. The bartender was super nice and let me change drinks. When I ordered the sangria, thinking I was getting sangria- I saw he put seltzer water in it. The menu doesn't have seltzer water shown. So either update your menu, or serve what the menu says. Because if I had known there was seltzer water in the sangria, I would not have ordered it. I liked the grits too, but I was really turned off by the drinking experience. Came here with friends for a MLK Day Weekend brunch. We wanted to support a black owned business and Rustik Tavern was at the top of our list. The owner, Frantz, was super accommodating to our last minute large party and made sure we got a big table in the back. The food... was absolutely amazing. They had catfish & fries on their menu but I kept debating if I wanted that or the shrimp & grits. I decided to do the fish after I saw a few yelp reviews saying the shrimp wasn't filling but then my friend had a genius proposition for the waiter. How about we substitute the fries for grits? And she let us!! The grits were deliciously cheesy and hearty while the fish was flaky and not dry or over cooked. They went so well together, they might wanna consider always substituting the fries for grits lol. Now my one issue with my experience was the bottomless service. They offer bottomless drinks for $35 (1.5 hours) which is a bit pricey BUT to be fair, you can get well drinks too which usually isn't a thing. It took probably 45 minutes to get our first mimosa and it felt like it wasn't as bottomless as it could've been. The drinks came out slowly and for that price, I would have hoped for drinks to be flowing. But we still enjoyed ourselves and definitely got to stay longer than the time limit. Disappointing Mother's Day brunch. The best part of it all was our pleasant and very accommodating server and the bottomless Bellinis. Nevertheless, the Bellinis did not impair my judgement when I questioned if the burger I ordered was a slider. It definitely was not a $15 burger in size or quality. The meat was full of gristle, which I do not expect to find in quality blend of ground beef that I pay $15 for at any establishment. In addition, my cousin ordered the steak and eggs entree, which was entirely too salty and inedible. The steak and eggs were switched for shrimp and grits, which were pretty good. This establishment used to be top notch and and exciting dining experience. It has slowly gone downhill, as per my last review. To be honest this was the main attraction for me from this menu and was the best thing ordered. Brunch entrees were Franklin Fish & Home fries (Panko Breaded Catfish), Salmon Burger, and the Spencer Steak and Eggs. I wasn't wowed by the fish and home fries. My potatoes were very hard, like undercooked hard. I notified the waitress and another order of the home fries came out just for it to still be hard again. The burger and steak entrees were said to better but not something to be wowed about. I love a good brunch and the brunch price is steep compared to other places where it may be $25 add on for bottomless or a prefixed menu inclusive of meals and drinks. Especially with the food quality not being the greatest the price is just a bit too steep. I did like the aesthetic of the place. Small but cozy. We got bottomless drink (bonus-they don't limit you to Bellinis/mimosas, so we went crazy ordering Gimlets lol). Those gimlets were sooooo goooooood! I had reservations with a party of 8 for 10 p.m. on a Saturday night. We had late night plans and wanted to have a late dinner, and Rustik Tavern had reservations available well into the evening. They also advertise a bottomless drink option for dinner. I'm just going to cut to the chase and let y'all know what I know now and not what I was expecting. The kitchen closes at 10:30 p.m. The menu is limited at an hour like 10 p.m. (the steak was 86ed, so was the beyond burger, so was the espresso martini). They did not seem to be aware of the bottomless drink option at dinner, but they were going to allow us to do bottomless mimosas or sangria (not beer, wine, or select cocktails). The food they did serve was delicious. Highly recommend the food. Do not recommend going late. The bottles of wine were good and affordable. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and apologetic for the confusion caused. It was a good experience just not quite what we were expecting. read more
