I came here about a month ago for dinner. I was scrambling to find something last minute and luckily we stumbled here. The portions I find a bit odd. For the chicken and macaroni and cheese dish, it only comes with one piece of chicken, which I find extremely odd considering the higher price point. Because of that, I ended up ordering the salmon burger which was pretty decent. I ordered a few drinks which were also decent, but for the price point nothing super special. Terrible service. Server came to take our orders and left in the middle of our ordering to check if an entree was in stock (said he'd be right back). Never came back. Went looking for him after 30 minutes to find out the entree was out of stock and no order was ever put in. We ended up leaving but not before our date night was ruined. This was a cute little place I tried while visiting. We went here for brunch around opening time. There was no wait and the service was good. I ordered the shrimp and grits which was great! Rustic Tavern was suggested to me for my Birthday Brunch. Our group had reservations for 11:00. We were greeted by Keith. I had read previous reviews about how wonderful he was and was thinking about requesting him but I didn't have to because he was our server. I ordered the shrimp and grits which were delicious. I also sampled the catfish which was very tasty. Of course we had unlimited screwdrivers and Keith was great about keeping them coming. Overall my birthday was off to a great start and I thank Rustic Tavern as well as their wonderful staff and last but not least Keith who was very nice and accommodating! Came here for my extremely belated birthday dinner because they're 1. Black Owned and 2. Have backyard patio seating. 1. I came with a pary of 5(6 total). The hostess was so accommodating being that I was running late. They seated the other members of my party until I arrived. 2. There was a nice ambiance. Chill vibes, reggae playing in the background. You could dress up or down. 3. Waitress was quick with the drinks and the food came out in an acceptable amount of time. 4. My friends ordered the salmon with sauteed kale and the kale was a little too salty. However, they replaced it with fries and brought out freshly made, less salty kale, which was good 5. The fried chicken and mac and cheese was great 6. My brother had the steak frites and said they were good, however, the steak needed to be rendered a little more Overall, wonderful experience and I would definitely return but this time for brunch! I should've done this review sooner but i visited at the end of July. cute hipsterish space with exposed brick, that type of spot. it was saturday morning, there was music playing & it was a good mix too. the space was hosting two separate birthday brunches which took up most of the sitting space but my friends & i were able to find a spot at the bar. (there is also a back patio with a couple tables) we got unlimited mimosas for $20 & i definitely had my fill. i ordered the shrimp & grits- it was just okay. i mentioned to the server id like to add bacon she said sure but they wouldn't chop it for me, it would be served as is. kinda ridiculous but whatever, it's NY non-hospitable behavior is expected lol. I also ordered a side of home fries, they were very rustic indeed & pretty flavorless. I tasted my friends fish & it was panko breaded which imo gives the fish stick sort of flavor. my other friend got a wedge salad that was grilled & she really liked it. Loved Rustik Tavern! Went here for brunch and everything we ate was delicious! They have brunch entrees but also have their full menu available. I recommend the shrimp avocado tostones. They were delicious. However, for the price and all, I think they should have at least 4 plantains. Other than that everything was good! They also have deviled eggs which are hard to come across sometimes. As far as ambiance it was perfect. They have dimmed lights and great music playing in the background but not overly loud to the point where you can't hear each other. Definitely plan on going back. Lastly, Keith, our waiter, was amazing. We got the bottomless brunch option for an additional $23 and he made sure to refill and check up on us constantly. He made our experience better. read more

Sunday ended up being an unexpectedly beautiful day so I decided it would be the perfect time to head to Brooklyn to finally true the Rustik Tavern. Since I was dining solo, I took a seat at the bar. I started with a Mimosa. It was on point. I could decide between the Shrimp and Grits, my brunch option of choice, or the Dulce de Leche French Toast. To switch things up, I went with the sweet. I wasn't ready! The portion looked like I could handle it, but as I began to size up the plate, I had my doubts. I love when French Toast has a nice crisp and this did, and it was topped with caramel and a poached apple. Heavenly! Each bite was filled with sweetness which didn't stop me from still swirling it in the silky caramel sauce. It was so flavorful that I didn't need a ton of syrup either. Usually my French Toast almost swims with syrup! As much as I tried, I could not finish it. I sat at the bar for a bit before conceding. The service was great! The bartender anticipated my need for a refill without my saying a word. He even let me admire the Shrimp and Grits that my bar mate ordered. I will definitely try that next! read more

I went here with a few girlfriends yesterday and I couldn't wait to write this review. Rustik Tavern was a damn good time. We made reservations for 2pm and were a tad tardy but the restaurant was very accommodating to that. The place is intimate and has a nice vibe to it. There was no dj at the time, but they played R&B that I personally love (SZA, HER, Solange to name a few). One negative is that the table we were seated was right by the fireplace, so there's a slight step down. the chairs tended to rock back and forth between the floor and the fireplace. I also almost fell. I wish I could remember what our server's name was because she was great. We all had bottomless mimosas ($20 per person) and she kept the pitchers coming for the entire 90 mins. The mimosas were strong and had the perfect champagne to orange juice ratio and we were definitely tipsy once leaving the restaurant. My food (I ordered a crab cake as a starter and the chicken and waffles) was great, hot and tasty! Not gonna lie, the crab cake was a bit pricey (1 cake for $14) but I was so hungry I didn't even care. The rest of the table ordered salad, steak and eggs, and the dulce French toast and everyone was pleased. Overall this experience was a pleasant surprise and so glad I went. Every time I'm back home, this is a must stop for me. I can't wait to come back and experience dinner! read more

This place is a hidden gem, I was working in one of my offices in bed- Sty and had just wrapped up a meeting in search for a Friday happy hour spot. At first, I was a bit hesitant to go in since outside didn't look so inviting. My friend who was with me assured me that I would like the place once I got it. She was spot on the outside looks like a hole in the wall, but once we stepped inside, the music was playing and the ambiance was chic and cozy. The happy hour started at 3 pm which was awesome, the place started getting packed and our server keith was the bomb. He catered to our every need and didn't wait for us to ask for a refill on the delicious passion fruit Margaritas he made for us. We also tried the oysters which were nice juicy and fresh. Yeah, this place was poppin. I really enjoyed my brunch: ordered the steak and eggs/home fries and it was tasty. I got the bottomless brunch (bellinis) and the bartender filled up me and the bae's glasses without hesitation. Bae got the chicken and waffles which he enjoyed. The food did not take too long to come out. The vibe was cool and they played old school 70's R&B. Overall I was pleased. I think I may have finally found a brunch spot that boasts a bottomless brunch AND good food (rarer than a Mewtwo). Apparently it is also black owned, which is a plus. I will be returning. read more

My best friend took me to Rustik for brunch. I must admit it was one of the best surprise of the month! The waiting list was 30min (better book online) We ended up with a nice table. Great ambiance. A true Brooklyn business. My eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked, hot and delicious (very rare), the bottomless mimosa is a good deal. Glass never empty. Cold Food... Saturday, September 7, 2019 2pm: friends were in town to celebrate turning 50. After an intense searched for a brunch venue and after the process of elimination, everyone agreed with the Rustik Tavern. Party of 5 arrived at 2pm, placed our orders and here is where the problems started. 45 minutes later, no food. When the food arrived, everything was cold. omelets, burgers, fries, home fries, all cold. We complained to the waitress and she apologized, that was it. I wanted to find a nice black owned restaurant and Rustik Tavern unfortunately wasn't the first place to show up on google but it definitely should be! immediately as we walked in the host was so nice and welcoming. Went for brunch on a Sunday! Nicely decorated place. Inside has more of a Jazzy, classy West Indian feel, the backyard is more casual, relaxed and rustic, no music outside though and the chatter can get a bit loud. The food is pretty good, we had the Shrimp and Grits, and the Franklin Fish i think. They have a bottomless brunch special, cant complain about that.
