This place proves that not everything associated with KU is subpar. This Runza is clean, crisp and new. The food was served hot and quick. Definitely read what's in the famous Runza before ordering and set yourself up for success. Don't order a Runza and then complain that it has exactly what it says it has in it. If you're not adventurous enough for a Runza the burgers are great too. Most of Lawrence is a hard pass but Runza is here and I'm here for it.

Decided to grab a quick bite to eat. Wanted an midwestern style food. Runza was the best choice. The atmosphere was very friendly and clean establishment. The customer service was AWESOME. The order consisted of (1) Southwest (1) Swiss and Mushroom sandwiches with Fried and Fringz.

So good! My friend is from Nebraska and I promised him I would stop in this time. The French fries were hot and crispy with just the right amount of salt, the cheeseburger was soooo good and the mushroom Swiss runza was delicious! My daughter who is a college student there loved it all and couldn't believe how good it was. Definitely stop in!

After the rave reviews about this place, we knew we had to try it out. There are a good amount of options for what kind of runza you want to eat from plain to mushroom and cheese. We opted to get the original runza with cheese combos ($6.99) that's a good price for me ! We also got two kids meals the same as ours but obviously smaller. After we started eating these are just huge bier rocks. I wanted to LOVE this place because I love a good deal but my dough was undercooked and I just didn't like the American cheese. The staff was kind to my husband when he ordered and they helped him out with specials and deals they offer, while helping him navigate the menu. All in all, I will give this place another chance by changing my cheese option and adding bacon ! For your money this place Is for sure worth it and they are efficient in getting your order right. I'll be back Runza, please don't let m down !

The Original Runza is the best!

I've only ever used the drive though but I am sure this place is really nice inside. I come for the original Runza and have never eaten anything else. Runzas are deliciious bread pockets of magic. Filled with cabbage, ground beer and spices. OMG. My mouth is watering right now.

Dining at this new restaurant feels like dining at a Michelin one-star restaurant in France without the cost of airfare or hotel. It is certainly the best in Lawrence, and a major step up from the rest. This is not surprising when you find out about the training of the chefs. For example, the Sous Chef Finnegan Huerter was trained at one of the greatest chef schools in the world, the famous Cordon Bleu in Paris. We got the lemonade, San Pellegrino (big bottle), Mache Salad (large enough to split between the two of us), Salmon, Celeriac Dauphinoise, Opera Cake, and the French Press Coffee Service shared between the two of us. Many of the preparations at this wonderful French restaurant are not available at any other restaurants in Lawrence and change frequently. The prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is open only on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting at 5 pm. When arriving, you will not be able to find the restaurant unless you know in advance where it is. The small ornate sign at the entrance is not visible from the street. There is a large parking lot at the entrance, which is very convenient unless there is a handicapped person in your party. The main entrance requires climbing a flight of stairs. If that is a problem for you, there is a handicapped parking space behind the restaurant, with two other ways to enter. One includes a small flight of stairs and the other consists of a ramp with no stairs providing wheelchair access. But this is the puzzle. While the stairs at the front entrance are well lit, the rear entrance has no lights at all. I do not understand a handicapped entrance in the dark with no lights at all. Evidently in good weather, there is outdoor dining in back with lights, but in the winter, there is no outdoor dining and no lights at all at the rear, where the handicapped access is locate. Best to avoid the rear entrance, unless you absolutely need it for a wheelchair. I anticipate that this relatively new restaurant plans to fix the lighting problem on its wheelchair access ramp. In fact I doubt whether the current lack of lighting on that ramp is ADA compliant.

It opens at 4 pm, but the restaurant's website still says 11 am. I do not understand why it has taken so long for the restaurant to update its website. There also have been changes to the menu. The new menu includes Branzino (European Sea Bass). It is an interesting choice, but arrives frozen. I prefer the salmon, which arrives fresh. I similarly would prefer trout to the Branzino, since trout would be available fresh in Lawrence. They have a choice of a few different nonalcoholic beers. I appreciate that. The nonalcoholic beer market has grown dramatically, even in Germany. I find it to be puzzling that some restaurants in Lawrence still don't have any.

Very bland no flavor with some sort of red sauce came out with it on the plate which tasted like A-1 sauce and ketchup mixed toy. Horrible flavor. They put the steak in the broiler, to be honest it looked like it was microwaved. Zero char. They took it back and put grilled marks in it and it still didn't come out right. I even asked out waiter if I could go back and cook my own steak. Then they tried to fix it with bringing me out another Ribeye and not the same Cowboy Cut . Grilled it also . With marks and not even a decent crust . They say they cut their own meet . Maybe at the grocery store . HUGE disappointment. Maybe just turn it into a bar with drinks and appetizers. Service was decent our waiter tried his hardest to get it done right Z even the manger came out and tried to make it right but at this point I wasn't interested in having a crappy steak . I do have to say the place had a nice atmosphere l. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else . Save yourself for over paying for crap meat .

The restaurant itself is beautiful inside -- a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. We mentioned it was our first visit, so I was a bit surprised there wasn't much guidance on the menu or any recommendations. At one point I asked about the two kinds of fries (I love fries!), and the explanation was simply that they were "fancy fries," without much detail on flavors or differences. We started with drinks and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The sprouts were actually very good, with a nice balance in the sauce, and both the wine and sangria were refreshing. Unfortunately, dinner is where things went downhill. Our meals -- a steak and a gluten-free chicken sandwich -- took about 45 minutes to arrive, which felt long for relatively simple dishes. I had asked about the gluten-free bun since they can sometimes be dry, but didn't receive much insight beyond "it's gluten free," and sadly it was indeed very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor, though the goat cheese cilantro sauce helped make it somewhat enjoyable. The fries looked homemade and delicious but arrived cold. The steak was cooked as requested, but it didn't have much flavor beyond the mushrooms on top. The broccoli side was tasty, and the potatoes were good, though it on a bed of Some kind of cheese sauce that wasn't quite to our liking. Overall, the space and gluten-free availability were promising, and the appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, but the food execution and service details didn't quite meet expectations for us this visit.
