I met a friend here for a late lunch and instantly fell in love. The space is sleek, clean and decorated with local art. The display case is magnificent. I wanted one of everything. The menu had several options for my GF needs. We got pastries, a sandwich and hot tea. We were pleased with the quality of the food. The staff was helpful and attentive. There was a steady stream of customers... one ordered three times while working at a table nearby.

Great spot for the space. Not a lot of seating, coffee came out fast and hot. Pretty standard latte, not amazing not bad. Food is NOT vegan friendly. Did have alternative milk options

Good food, great coffee, somewhat uppity servers. Chill ambiance but fairly few seats make it a challenge to meet with someone, depending on the time of day. When I went, a Monday @ 3:00, there were no indoor seats and no indoor music- like buying a coffee in a (nice) library. I'll be back, for sure; maybe there'll be seating indoors

Pastry case - The display case showcases an assortment of baked goods including cookies, slices of cake, and cupcakes. The cookies are labeled as 'Old Baw Confectionate,' while the cakes include a 'Carrot Cake,' 'Raspberry' cheesecake, 'Blueberry' cheesecake, and a 'Tiramisu' slice. Cupcakes are arranged on wooden trays, with some topped with white frosting. The case has a glass front with reflections and a wooden base for the baked items.

So, out and about today checking Lawrence out, since I never truly have visited the area before, and found this little gem. I purchased a few treats, including tiramisu, which looked amazing. I also bought some canelés since I had seen a picture on Yelp, and they looked delicious. I will try to leave a review of these delectable sweets after I have tried them. The coffee shop part was a bit smaller than I saw images of. The seating area has distinguishment appearance, but with hard wood seats appears its only a temporary spot. There are no outlets for laptop charging, so this is mostly ideal to meet and great someone. I liked the vibe of the place. It had a creative high-end art school vibe. The service was very good, as the people here were very attentive (including some customers that were near by, who raved about this place, duly noted) an d the suggestions were a bit overwhelming, but in a good way. Yes, the tiramisu was excellent. The moistest tiramisu I've ever had. The Canales, however, were okay. They simply tasted like pudding bread.

Dining area and front counter - The image shows the interior of a coffee shop with a wooden floor and a black, patterned ceiling with track lighting. Two customers are standing at the counter, engaging with staff. Behind the counter, shelves hold books, decorative items, and containers. There are bar stools and tables with chairs in the seating area, and a chalkboard sign is visible. The overall setting is modern and cozy.

Stopped in for lunch today. Had the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich combo. So good. The soup had just a hint of zip; nice on a blustery day. The sandwich was made with several different cheeses, a blackberry jam, on artisan bread. Yes! This intimate joint is popular and special

Babka, cream cheese cinnamon roll, earl grey financier, and canele - A cardboard box contains four baked items: a cinnamon roll with dark swirls and sugar crystals, a cupcake topped with cream cheese frosting, a canelé with a caramelized exterior, and a pastry with a crumbly topping. The items are arranged closely together, showcasing a variety of textures and flavors.

Delicious baked goods, not the biggest selection but everything I tried was so good and high quality. Nothing was a disappointment. I had a za'tar bagel with cream cheese and it had a good chewiness to it. Babka is really nice and not too sweet, perfect to pair with a cup of coffee. Definitely try the caneles and financiers, they are like nothing else.

Peach tart and vegan chocolate chip cookie - A brown plate holds a chocolate chip cookie and a pink frosted pastry topped with small yellow and orange decorations. Two metal forks rest on the plate. Behind the plate, a window displays a white cartoon decal of a dog with exaggerated features, including large eyes and a long tail, with a small decorative element resembling a lemon slice. The scene suggests a café setting with baked goods and decorative window art.

Ah-amazing! The friendliest staff, best pastries and delicious coffee. Get the tart, any flavor, they are always exceptional!

Chocolate babka bun - Multiple chocolate babka buns are placed on a wooden tray in a bakery or café environment. The buns are dark brown with visible swirls of chocolate. A small sign in front of the buns indicates they are chocolate babka buns priced at $4.50. The background shows kitchen equipment and shelving, suggesting an indoor bakery or café setting.

I went here at about 1pm on a Sunday with my son. Super cute, cozy interior. We split the following items: Georgian honey cake, Za'atar Bagel (with cream cheese), and a chocolate Babka bun. Everything was great AND not too sugary (a problem with most cafe's). The Za'atar bagel was the star of the show: it's unique, savory flavors made it easily the best bagel I've ever had. I will definitely go back.

Chocolate Bible, 1/2 Canele, pretzels and chocolate chip cookie.

Amazing Bakery. Everything is extremely good. Have not dined there yet because I had no idea they served breakfast and lunch but can't wait to try it since the baked goods are so good. High Rec

Really good food- I have the fried egg sanwhich and while it was basic with little or no extra toppings, the sauce and cheese was very good.

A black chalkboard sign positioned inside near a window advertises Cellar Door Cafe. The sign features a detailed white illustration of a cat holding a steaming cup, surrounded by decorative elements. The cafe's name is prominently displayed at the top, with the hours of operation (8-5 every day) and a suggestion to try spiced butterscotch apple cider. The background shows a window with a view of a street and trees.

Pastries are my favorite but the coffee and sandwiches are great too! Usually I bring One or two people with me and we share the pastries.

Only had the chocolate chip cookie and better than all the rest. Very nice contemporary interior. Looking forward to trying more items.

It was difficult to decide which I wanted. It was like an assembly line of perfect little treats. The staff was very nice and helpful. The selection seemed endless and they had drinks in cans that were delicious. I had a very difficult time choosing which I was going to try. There is a seating area in the rear of the restaurant. It was full of happy people eating pastries and chatting. It was a perfect setting. I had heard about this place for years but never ventured inside. I regret not going to this lovely place sooner. I will definitely go back and recommend. I guess this is a franchise business with locations all over the US. I am just glad we have one in Lawrence. Still... WOW!

Couldn't believe it when I a friend told me this place has been in operation for years. Guess I need to venture over to Lawrence from Topeka more often! While not the case across the board, we found a number of the items we selected to be on par with the quality of treats we enjoy while visiting France. Needless to say I will be wearing out the Turnpike making return visits to this real gem.
