We were greeted right away upon entering the door and seated. Server Jada was very nice and attentive. Diner was very open and bright with a lot of different artwork/pictures. Greatly decorated!! We all ordered breakfast and 2 of us ordered the exact same thing. We ordered the breakfast with 2 pancakes with the addition of blueberries, scrambled eggs, and ham. Blueberries were large in size and scrumptious! Pancakes were delicious. Eggs were okay, just a little flat tasting. Ham was just okay. Ice Tea was great! We ordered chocolate milk and had to send it back 2 times because it didn't have enough chocolate in it. The manager fixed it the 3rd time and said the chocolate pump wasn't adjusted correctly. Arrived fifteen minutes after opening on a Sunday. My host and waitress (Tiffany) were very welcoming. I ordered Huevos Rancheros with chorizo and an extra egg, over easy, with both salsa roja and salsa verde. I substituted fruit for the breakfast potatoes and had a bottomless cup of coffee. Tiffany was happy to bring me a to go cup instead of a mug as I requested. The food was beautiful on the plate but looked like a small portion, as did the fruit cup. However, they packed a punch, and I was complete satisfied after I finished my meal. The decor was very nice, unique even, and the natural light was wonderful. The white noise of the kitchen behind the coffee bar was a comforting counterpoint to the jazz/easy listening music and the murmur of my fellow diners. Noise levels were ideal. Food was very bland. I also wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking to relax and enjoy time with loved ones--the owner asked us to leave before we had even finished our meal. Additionally, I was disturbed by how staff are treated. An employee was reportedly fired after giving up a shift to attend their grandfather's funeral. This experience left me feeling that the business lacks compassion toward employees during family emergencies. Very disappointing experience. There for brunch on a Sunday. Seated at 10:05. At 11:15 a man in charge came by our table and told us since we were finished we needed to leave and that the server won't make any money if we stay. We were still drinking coffee. My son and I decided to try this breakfast out after a friend told us it was a must do. However I am not sure that is the case. My son ordered the pancake breakfast with scrambled eggs and bacon. It was priced at $11.50 if I remember right. He said the food was good I liked the bacon a lot. I picked the farmers breakfast since it was a Saturday. I didn't not see this anywhere on the regular menu. It came with eggs, a meat, potatoes and I biscuit with gravy. The eggs were good, no flavor and had to have salt and pepper at the table. The potato's were the same. They had not see any seasoning and barley crisp. The sausage patties were really good but those were possibly premade based on shape. The gravy lacked much flavor but the biscuit was awesome. Little salt and pepper helped but it made me wish I had done the biscuit and honey and just had those. Overall I am sure Lawerence has better and we will come back to try other places. It served its purpose. The coffee was not enjoyable either, it was just ok. Made sense after k sat there no one else got any. Coffee was self serve, waitress was very polite and the place was well done for the space the had and could fit many people. read more

I always loved Milton's, and while the prices, food, and service are still good, it's utterly ridiculous that you can't get a hot chai latte in December--only a 16 oz. Iced. Couldn't they just leave out the ice and stick it in the microwave? Chai originated in India, where they still drink it hot. Why is that impossible to manage here? read more

We ordered a second round as we were having a nice visit. Before we could finish, the checks were delivered and the manager quickly arrived to push us out. He rudely informed us the servers were college students working for a living. Was very excited to have brunch with some of my friends here, but I was honestly disgusted by the service. Very clear that they wanted to get us out of the building as soon as possible: rushing us to order, giving the check well before we were done eating, asking if we wanted boxes while members of our party were still actively dining, and hovering over our table once the receipts were signed. My server was incredibly sweet but the owner of the restaurant completely rushed us out of the establishment. He made it clear we were not welcome to enjoy a relaxed meal as he demanded our server come every 5 minutes to ask if we were ready to go. They said the owners name is Dave and he is honestly one of the most miserable human beings I've ever been around. Went here for a late lunch with a couple friends not too long ago. We went at noon because they close at one, so there was only a couple other customers. I ordered the veggie grill sandwich and added grilled chicken. I also had a side of chips. The sandwich was really flavorful and was very full of veggies, pesto, and chicken! Kettle chips were average so I'm not sure if they were made in-house. Restaurant didn't have a ton of seating, but was cute. Looked like there was a decent sized patio for nicer days. We had brunch on the patio today. My chorizo burrito was quite tasty. My daughters both enjoyed the French toast platter; however, my wife wasn't impressed with hers. Not sure why. Stopped into Lawrence on a road trip from San Diego to have breakfast with a buddy from the military. I am a disabled vet and have a very well trained service animal GSD accompanying me on my travels, and even with having documentation, they wanted her to sit outside of the gate of the patio. The host even bent her service card in front of me like she was checking a fake ID at the door of a nightclub. We've stopped in 3 states prior with no issues and have never had an issue in the 4 years of having a service animal ever. Go to the Roost. 10/10 experience there with no issues. read more

I went to Milton's at around 10:00 A.M. on a Wednesday. I ordered the country hash with eggs. The flavors were tremendous and the food quickly arrived after ordering. The prices are very low for the quality you get. The only drawback was that I ordered Decaf coffee and it was terrible. It tasted like a cheap generic brand. The waitress did take it off the bill, but a coffeehouse really should improve the quality of their coffee. read more

My omelet was crunchy. It was so overcooked, it was one of the worst omelets I have ever had in my life. Omelets are supposed to be fluffy and happy. My omelet was flat and sad. Very sad. It was so bad I was looking for sauce or gravy or something to drown it in. My rye toast was sad, too. SIGH. This is the most difficult type of review to write. I loved the atmosphere, the setting, the smells. Our server was so nice and pleasant. In every possible way this was a great experience. The only thing that sucked was the food. ICE ICE, baby. I love ice in my drinks. Ice is like a sparkly, glistening treat. The two drinks I had at Milton's both like 5 small, puny ice cubes. Did I say SMALL? They weren't even big enough to classify as ice. They were more like chips. Did not much matter because they melted soon after they were on the table. It can hardly be an iced tea if the ice chips are gone. I have never heard of a lukewarm tea, either, but that is what I had. I ordered a very simple mushroom, bacon and swiss cheese omelet. Nothing fancy, no particular high level training was needed to make this dish. My poor little omelet looked like it had been run over by a car on Mass St. It was flat and withered with not a sign of life. It was so overcooked it was crunchy. Seriously. I did not want to be a bad sport in front of my friends, I tried desperately to bring this dead dish back to life. I put butter on it in a sad attempt to moisten it a bit but, no luck. I did everything but put water on it and give it CPR. It was the worst omelet I have ever had in my life. The toast was equally uninspired. It was just... toast. It was not big and fluffy. It was also dry as a bone. There was no butter on the toast or any other jelly offering. It was just dry toasted sad bread. It would have taken little effort to butter a piece of toast. First Watch, for instance, has happy toast- big and fluffy. Far cry from what I got at Milton's. Perhaps I expected to much. I had heard wonderful things about this place. The decor is stunning and eye catching. The tables and chairs are beautiful and so comfortable. There is a spacious outdoor seating area, too. They have strategically placed mirrors so the room looks bright and spacious. Our server was so helpful and sweet. She was attentive and patient. She walked me through the menu and answered my questions. The prices were reasonable, too. For a local restaurant situated in the middle of downtown, it was very reasonable. Wonderful dining experience if it would not have been for the food. I am willing to give Milton's another shot someday but for right now I am still trying to digest the crunchy sad omelet. read more

HORRIBLE. Originally I ordered a iced vanilla latte and it was awful so I sent it back and got a Diet Coke. Then I got avocado toast with no avocado and little toppings on it, then was CHARGED FOR A SIDE OF AVOCADO after I showed the waitress how there was none on it. After all of that I get my bill and I was charged for the coffee I sent back, the avocado toast in full and the side of avocado, so I asked the waitress and she said she'd take it off but ran my card and got the bill back to see she took none of it off. We were jerked around about dining on the patio with our 20 pound well-behaved dog who was in her stroller.First it was ok, then they wanted us to park her outside the fence. This place was extremely disappointing to say the least. From the outside, it smelled amazing and I was very excited about a lot of the options on the menu. Once we were seated, it took like 15 min to put our order in. Our server, Ana, was incredibly cold and unwelcoming. She didn't smile a single time and seemed like everything we asked was a huge inconvenience to her. I ordered the steak and eggs and asked for it to be cooked medium. It was so well done that it was hard to cut and chew, and tasted horrible. I asked for ranch to help down it, and was charged for the ranch. Good, not great. The food is reasonably priced and worth coming back for. The service left something to be desired, because I ordered an iced coffee that never came, so I assumed my server forgot. But then when she brought the bill, she said the barista disappeared and never made the drink and so she discounted my meal. I just thought it was odd that she apparently realized I didn't receive my drink but didn't do anything about it until we were paying. Maybe she did forget and didn't want to admit it. I have never dealt with such horrible customer service. My family sat down, ordered drinks and my sister was 2 minutes away in the Uber. The host was staring us down the entire 5 minutes we sat down and came over yelling "You lied to us" to my mom causing a huge scene because my sister wasn't there yet. We said we can order for her and he said "ya well you lied, I can't believe this" and we decided to leave. The entire restaurant was staring and the waitress felt so bad and was very apologetic. She obviously knew he was a psycho and felt so embarrassed. He was incredibly rude to every customer as when you walked in he was almost made that more customers were showing up. Ive wanted to leave this review for awhile and have not gotten the chance. I worked here for a moment and have worked in food industry for 6 years. I have never been so disrespected by an employer in my life. He told several of us female servers we need to watch our weight and what we eat, and berated and belittled us for anything while simultaneously requiring us to do the job of a food runner, hostess, busser and server. He openly questioned me about menstrual issues that I was having in front of customers. If it weren't for the pay and having to make rent, I would have walked out on the spot more than a handful of times. Food is amazing, give all your compliments to back of house guys who work hard day in and day out. But if you're looking to get told that someone else needs your table in the middle of the meal because the owner is more worried about flipping tables for profit, don't go here. I've worked in toxic environments and then there's here, where I have enough evidence to this day to file a report with the EEOC. Since the lovely owner Dave tends to think his workers are incompetent, I might add Im now employed by the law firm on the end of the block, and I suppose I know a thing or two about ethical practices in the work place.
