Popped in for lunch on Friday and found a 25 min wait waiting for us! We put our names on the list and wandered into the stationary shop to kill time. Food was yum as always; the heirloom blt special was amazing. Inside is always cute and the pie is always the best. As always, service was friendly and chill.

Love this spot! Great vibes and even better food. I recently stopped by Ladybird Diner in Lawrence and had an absolutely delicious brunch. The dining room has a cozy, upbeat ambiance--cute décor with that perfect small-town feel. The service was friendly and prompt, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Highlights from my meal: * The Dodge - This hearty combo of a fluffy biscuit smothered in rich sausage gravy, served with three crispy bacon strips and eggs cooked just right. Pure satisfaction on a plate. * Fancy French Toast - Thick-cut brioche soaked in vanilla‑cinnamon custard, griddled to a golden finish, and crowned with fresh berries and real whipped cream. It's indulgent without being overly heavy. * Ricotta Toast - A lovely, lighter option with creamy ricotta spread on charred toast--simple, but thoughtfully done. Everything was served just when I wanted it; the place was bustling but never chaotic. Between the cute setting, friendly staff, and mouthwatering brunch items, I'll definitely be back. Recommendation: Whether you're a local or just passing through, Ladybird Diner is worth a stop. If you're a fan of comforting breakfast classics or just want a relaxing brunch vibe, this place delivers.

We waited about 35 mins for a table. Once we got to our table it took 45 mins to get our fried pickle app. Then 25 mins later we got our food. I got the huevos rancheros which was okay. I wish the tortillas were served on the side and not covered in the sauce. My boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich which he said was good but he wished the chicken was spicy because the corn made it too sweet. The hot chocolate wasn't even hot and tasted like water. The service was alright but we didn't get offered to go boxes or drink refills. The place was really cold because people kept opening the door, which I get it was busy but my goodness we were chilly. I think next time we'd try more of the breakfast items. I wish there were more breakfast options in general on the menu. I didn't expect so many Mexican and Tex-mex style dishes. Till next time!

Please try their ELOTE Mac n cheese. Probably one of the best macs I've ever had. My friends really enjoyed their hot dog with potatoes for their side. Yummy Root Beer floats!! Stop by and support a nice local spot! Love their decor!

Had a wonderful unexpected stop there this morning. Was super excited to enjoy the ricotta toast with a tasty chai. Unfortunately, I was served the avocado toast. It took me a few bites to definitively be like "I don't think this is what I ordered" because I didn't keep a menu with the food descriptions with me. So, it's fully on me for not realizing what happened. While the avocado toast is incredibly, it was the kind of savory I was not anticipating. The carrots and olives are striking though! As always, the staff was kind and patient with two people from out of town. It was kind of quiet and we got the table in the window, which I love. Big fan, as always!

So we arrived at the diner and there was a 45 minute wait. I was there with my two granddaughters and since they wanted to wait, we went walking and window shopping in downtown Lawrence until our table was ready. We came back in 45 minutes, but it took an additional 10. Once it was ready, they were very kind, called my name and ushered us to our table. We placed our order and then there was nothing for like 20 minutes. I asked our server what was going on. She apologized and said there were two more tickets in front of ours and she was sorry for the wait she had been checking. We were really hungry and had already been waiting technically for an hour so that additional wait wasn't too cool. Once the food came. Oh my gosh, the portions were humongous, (except for the avocado toast order) that was just normal size. The food for the most part was delicious. I asked for eggs, scrambled soft. They were not, but my server immediately knew that and brought me back a plate of eggs that were correct. The sausage tasted as if they were homemade patties and the bacon had a hickory or honey smoked taste, but very good. I didn't go to the bathroom so I can't tell you if that was clean, but the restaurant itself was pleasant. It was like big enough to accommodate the people, but small enough to have like a house kitchen atmosphere. Our server was a very nice young lady and very friendly. When she brought my receipt, she had given me a 10% friends and family discount for the wait. So I gave her a great tip! I really appreciate that and when I go back to Lawrence, I will try them again.

Food: FANTASTIC AS ALWAYS Service: amazing and very attentive as I remember this place to be. Ambiance: they have excellent taste in music! This used to be my fav hangout when I lived at Fort Riley with some very classy ladies. It's great to see they are still here and excellent!

The vibe and energy of this place was amazing and I will be back. The gravy was delicious and reminded me of my childhood. The service was decent despite the fact it was packed on a Saturday morning.

@ladybird_diner We had the Nut butta toast - which was a multigrain French toast with cherry coconut cashew butter, fig, yogurt, sliced bananas and honey ( yes it was as good as you think it would be. Look at the pictures.). We also had the chicken buttermilk fried chicken sandwich. Huge just a huge sandwich. It was fantastic. And I always want to try biscuits and gravy and they were very good, could have used ,maybe, a little more pepper or spice but very good biscuits and gravy. Maybe next time I'll try some pie since they're known for their pie Great service start to finish, cheers to the staff and management

I went to Ladybird for dinner for the first time and it did not disappoint. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes, fish tacos, and lots of delicious fixin's grace the Friday night dinner menu, but to me, the star of the show was the pie. It's always the pie. Tonight I tried the coconut cake and the chocolate pie. Both were extraordinary and delicious! Best idea ever.....dipping into both at the same time to create a coconut chocolate delight. The service was awesome, as always, and the food came out very quickly. If you've never tried Ladybird for dinner on Friday I 10/10 recommend!

I have purchased a couple of "KEY LIME PIES" (in the past) that were outta this world delicious, from the key lime filling to the best graham cracker crust ever. I heard about their Friday night Fried Chicken so we brought some friends and tried it out. Well I thought nothing could get better than the pies but..... This fried chicken is fall off the bone tenderest tastiest chicken I've had and so is the mac and cheese. Everything we put in our mouth from this meal was fresh, tasty, hot and delicious. It's a quant, little diner with fast friendly service. The Expresso Martini is one of the best Ive had too.... I highly recommend and we'll be back again soon!!!

Was seated sooner than it was quoted, which was great. Wait staff was amazing. I ordered the chorizo and eggs. I give it a three out of five. It was a little on the bland side. They had some green Cholula; thar made a huge difference. Also ordered the French toast, which was a four out of five. Amazing meal! The vegan hash was also three out of five, and the same with the biscuits and gravy. The bigger issue was that the drinks were ordered at the same time as the meal. It took over 43 minutes after the drinks came for the meal to show up. The wait staff apologized for the long wait, but that was just way too long to wait for a meal. We were just about to pay for the drinks and leave when the food actually came to the table. The ambience of the place has a nice hometown feel to it, but the turnaround time on meals was entirely too long. I wanted to try some more things out of the pastry case, but because of the long wait, I had to get back on my way. If I ever did stop back by, I'd have the French toast again, but I definitely tried some of the other things in the pastry case that looked rather delicious.

The restaurant itself is beautiful inside -- a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. We mentioned it was our first visit, so I was a bit surprised there wasn't much guidance on the menu or any recommendations. At one point I asked about the two kinds of fries (I love fries!), and the explanation was simply that they were "fancy fries," without much detail on flavors or differences. We started with drinks and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The sprouts were actually very good, with a nice balance in the sauce, and both the wine and sangria were refreshing. Unfortunately, dinner is where things went downhill. Our meals -- a steak and a gluten-free chicken sandwich -- took about 45 minutes to arrive, which felt long for relatively simple dishes. I had asked about the gluten-free bun since they can sometimes be dry, but didn't receive much insight beyond "it's gluten free," and sadly it was indeed very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor, though the goat cheese cilantro sauce helped make it somewhat enjoyable. The fries looked homemade and delicious but arrived cold. The steak was cooked as requested, but it didn't have much flavor beyond the mushrooms on top. The broccoli side was tasty, and the potatoes were good, though it on a bed of Some kind of cheese sauce that wasn't quite to our liking. Overall, the space and gluten-free availability were promising, and the appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, but the food execution and service details didn't quite meet expectations for us this visit.
