I don't eat burgers often, but when I do I will always choose a thinly smashed over a thick patty. Culver's does it right and I love that their greeting is, "what can we make fresh for you today" because the way the fries are always hot, the burger is perfectly pressed, the root beer is cold and the service is friendly! As a fast food service this branch in particular has outstanding service every time and you can tell it's made to order. This isn't a method they all use unfortunately, but I think this one is a great representation! I rarely drink soda as well, but a root beer float paired with the butter burger and hot crinkle fries? Yessssss please! Since I rarely dine in, this is one of the only fast food restaurants I trust to make my food without me looking...which is honestly a big deal! Whenever I do have extra time to go inside there is never a long wait, the restaurant is clean and sometimes you may have an employee hold the door open for you. All of this without the pressure to add a tip upon ordering, but if you have extra cash when they bring your food I'm sure it will be appreciated. read more

Culver's seafood is really good. Fish and chips have a mild cod flavor and aren't soggy. The shrimp are crispy and tastes amazing.

Food was typical Culver's. Very good. I do wish they would cook their fries a little longer but I rarely eat them. I steal a couple from my wife. My main comment tonight is about the kids working the counter. They were friendly and efficient and did their job well. How ever a young lady named Riley went above and beyond. My wife and I always purchase cartons of yogurt from the freezer. We each picked out a carton and went to pay. Miss Riley informed us that the cartons would cost 11 dollars but we could purchase 4 cartons for 15 dollars. A much better deal Thank you Riley for this tip. Let me start by saying, we've never had a bad meal at this Culver's. The food is always good, arrives at our table promptly and we've eaten at the Culver's in Lawrence numerous times. This last time, on Jan 11, 2026, was strikingly different. We could tell there was NOT a manager present or anyone with authority. Lots of girls standing around talking, not doing anything, just lots of giggling and no work. It was like there was too many kids and not enough to do. It was loud, we could hear them talking loudly from the back of the restaurant. It was disruptive. Our cashier: AAALANEYAEBV Dine In #36 didn't listen to our order. She actually repeated what we said but the register didn't reflect our complete order. My husband wanted a 2 pc Cod dinner with tartar sauce, no coleslaw, onion rings instead & fries, plus he wanted to add the 6 shrimp, plus he said he wanted a drink. She was typing on the register and repeating out loud what he said. She didn't hand us a cup, so he asked for one. She said, oh you wanted a drink? Yes, he said, I asked for one. She realized she didn't charge us for his drink, handed the cup to us anyway and then turned her back on us. After getting our food, we noticed the 6 shrimp weren't on the plate with the fish. We then looked at the receipt & we were NOT charged for that either. She might have been new, or was the area with all the chatter too distracting and that's why we didn't get what we ordered? read more

The food is good but the prices are getting crazy! The kids working there don't seem to listen well. They seem to forget things racing back and forth - they ask if you need anything and you end up walking to the counter- that's fine. I just do it! The kid taking orders very robotic- I get it - ppl can drive you nuts but he didn't want to be the person taking orders and it showed! They had this young girl long blond hair racing around like a track fielder. I noticed someone leaving a purse - tried multiple times to get attention and she ghosted me - had to to walk to the counter AGAIN! Reported to another girl who looked at me - sort of spaced out bright red candy apple hair, she didn't respond - so at that point I just went back to my seat and leaving - reported it to the Robot and it finally clicked - we went back and got the purse - I didn't want to touch it. Another one bites the dust. After years of enjoying Culver's food, I've given up on the Lawrence KS Culver's. During 2024, I've noticed a solid decline in the quality of food, which might be attributed to the younger crews too interested is socializing then listening to customers, specifically me! I usually get the Atlantic Cod dinner with fries and slaw. Though, after Repeated attempts at speaking with the staff and requesting No Limp Fries, and No Greasy Fish, I didn't like what I saw after bringing home my dinner. LIMP FRIES & GREASY FISH !!!!!! Went here for some lunch between shopping. The food was average, comparable to Freddy's. However, the employees are very welcoming. The manager even greeted us at the door. Any menu item that is named BUTTER will get an automatic star from me. Yeah, butter! The butter burger at Culver's is especially good. It is a burger that you custom build and they are yummy. Culver's is on my way to work out of town. It is easy and convenient for me. The big plus is that Culver's is actually very good and tasty. The food is not pre-cooked so do not go to Culver's thinking you will ZIP ZIP get your food and go. Does not work like that here. The orders are cooked when you give the order. You are given a number and you wait for your order. Trust me, the wait is worth it because the food is good. My favorites are the butter burger and the crinkle fries. Every year in the spring they bring out the cod to help the Lenters. The cod sandwich is my favorite. It is delicious! I have not tried the cod basket but I am sure it is equally delicious. The fish is fall-apart crispy and crunchy at the same time. Everything seems to work like clockwork at Culver's. The staff is always polite and helpful. They have big smiles and seem very happy. Sometimes, I think they are too happy and I chuckle to myself about how polite they always seem to be to customers. I wonder if they go home and throw china plates at walls to get out their frustrations. LOL. The restaurant is clean and sparkly. You get the feeling that nothing bad can happen to you at Culver's. I am standing in front of the Culver's counter staring in disbelief at the colorful electronic signage depicting burgers, fries, tater tots, lots of food words punctuated with "bacon" and "butter." This should never have happened. How? How did I arrive here, me, hater of everything fast food, never at a loss for a snarky comment about what I think of an industry of food crafted by corporate types sitting around a conference table somewhere in a large city, PowerPoint presentations, power suits, career climbers (ie., back stabbers) seeking their next promotion, food costs nailed down to the micro-cent? Here's how it happened: running late to a movie, both of us needing something to hold us over, wife suggests Culver's. I gently attempt to steer us elsewhere. Anywhere but there I'm thinking now that we're already in THAT part of town. Five Guys (oops, missed our turn), Pie Five (closed), El Potro (meh, no thanks). Something not Panda Express, McAlister's, McDonald's or iHop... please. Unfortunately, La Estrelle was off consideration because of lunch. The words "Deluxe cheeseburger and onion rings" struggle from my lips. Wife orders the same burger but with Wisconsin cheese curds, because, well, she's from Wisconsin. I brace for impact. And yet, what's this? The first bite of the burger and I'm like, "wait, where's the taste of stale cooking oil, the burn of way too much sodium for a guy that doesn't eat fast food." Shouldn't these onion rings be dripping grease? No, they are actually... very good. Wow, they used fresh red onions on the burger and the beef actually tastes like... wait for it... beef. I try her cheese curds. Nope, not oversalted as anticipated. Tasty. The food here is actually pretty good. The floors are clean, and it doesn't feel like, well, like fast food feels. But still, it is what it is. And then on our way out in a hurry the girl behind the counter who probably isn't old enough to drive on her own shouts, "have a nice evening." Ahhhhhh. I consider a burger and fries to be one of the 4 basic food groups. I was first introduced to Culver's when traveling a lot in Wisconsin and I have come to love Culver's. SO, I'm especially happy to find one when traveling thru the Midwest. My favorite is the butter burger deluxe with a side of fries and a side of fried cheese curds. My wife tried the butter burger with bacon and a side of fries. We stopped at this particular Culver's the weekend before Christmas and the staff seemed imbued with the Christmas spirit. We were greeted warmly when we entered and were wished a Merry Christmas as we left. The service was exceptionally good and I thoroughly enjoyed my Culver's burger. This was my wife's 1st time in a Culver's and I have to say she wasn't as enthused with Culver's as me. She agreed that the service was great and that the burger was good - but she just wasn't as crazy about it as I was. WORST burger I've ever had.. we ordered the butter burger. She said "the bun is buttered and toasted". We didn't think anything of it. But the burger was so burnt.. it was like a puck and there was hardly any meat to it.. if it weren't for the concrete and the cheese curds being halfway decent, I would've given it a 1 star review. I had heard of this place, but somehow managed to find a other place to please my palate. This day, I wanted a juicy burger and nice fries. I am a shake/ice cream guru, so I KNOW a good shake when I taste one. I saw on the sign as I sat in the drive thru that they have "butter" burgers. Not sure if that was significant to what I got because one of the things I didn't taste was butter...not even a little. First off, the burger I ordered was juicy and looked and smelled pleasing...but it lacked flavor. The fries ( after I seen that they forgot to give them to me) were pretty good..hot and fresh, lightly salted, however for the price, could of used a little more..the chocolate shake I ordered was the star of the day...chocolaty, thick and delicious. I love frozen custard. So Culver's makes me happy. They have a decent selection of toppings and frozen custard treats. I think I prefer Sheridan's, but since the Lawrence location closed, I have been heading here. Not so in love with other food here. Burgers are bit too done for me, and I tried a pork tenderloin the other night and was not impressed. They do seem to have a wider variety of food choices, though, than other frozen treat places. Update: Recently got the sourdough melt, and that's good. Their mashed potatoes aren't awesome, but that at least seem to be "real" mashed potatoes, not reconstituted potato flakes. Great custard, even though it's more expensive than a ice cream from the golden arches across the street, it's much much better. And, if the custard is not perfect (too frozen, melted) they are more than happy to make it again. I have always been impressed with the extreme friendliness of the staff at this Culvers. It could have something to do with the very involved owners who are often there working a shift. If you a frequent customer, many of the staff take the time to remember what you orders! They bring food to the table and come by and ask if you need anything. This Culvers is simply not your standard fast food burger joint. Oh yes, the burgers are vastly superior to the golden arches, and better priced too! Consider the patties are bigger and they are made out of real God-to-honest beef! To be clear, I don't think that Culver's is truly "fast food". Trust me, they aren't exactly "fast". This is NOT a place to go if you are in any kind of hurry. They do have a drive-thru, but frankly I think that they shouldn't even bother. Yeah, I'm biased against drive-thrus in general, but in this case I really do think it shouldn't even be there. Unless all you want is a shake or something, don't use the drive-thru at Culver's. Just don't do it. You'll have to pull up into their special designated "I was just at the window but now I have to sit here wasting gas still waiting for my food until some kid walks it out to me" parking spaces. Don't do it. Just park your car and go inside. Okay, now that I've made that point, why the 4 stars? Because the food is excellent and the dining room is nice. It is a great example of what a burger joint dining room should be- bright, clean, simple. Two soda fountains flank a little "hallway" into the dining room, spaced far enough apart to disperse traffic and reduce crowding at each fountain. And yes, the Culver's root beer is nice. It's been awhile since I've had any of their frozen custard, but I do remember it being good. The burgers are very tasty. I don't usually like mine well done, but this is well done done well. There's a nice char on the patty, but it's not all dried out. Toppings are fresh and flavorful. If you want to try something different, the menu is quite large and varied. I recall pork fritter sandwiches (something you don't see every day) fish and chicken platters, and maybe even chicken fried steak. Culver's is a little more expensive (and definitely slower) than true fast food joints, but I think it's worth it. The location is not convenient unless you're already going to Target or the movie theater, but do make a point to try this place out at least once. read more

Food is good, so the 2 star review is for cleanliness. As a former Restaurant manager, I tend to notice "old dirt" in a place. The drink machine looked like it's been a good long while since it was cleaned properly. Dried soda syrup, ketchup, and set in dirt all over drink station, booths, tables, and trash bins. The dispenser for cup lids so filthy, I decided against using one. The tile floors need a good scrubbing with CLEAN mop and water, which was immediately apparent from the condition of the entry way. 9 years managing both fast food and full service restaurants tells me no one is making sure employees are doing daily cleaning lists. They seemed fully staffed, with lots of bored looking teenagers at the counter, so get those kids to scrubbing! You got time to lean, you got time to clean! read more
