I stopped in for the first time in a while yesterday & was glad I did. The service was fine & the restaurant seemed clean. I got a classic burger and side of sweet potato fries. The fries and marshmallow sauce were as delicious as I remembered. The burger was good, but not as good as I remembered. It was as if the meat quality wasn't as good as it used to be. It wasn't bad. Just not fantastic. I will return.

Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Our family really loved this place. Definitely recommend and need one of those restaurants in Saint Joseph, Missouri, where we are from.

I've been coming to the Burger Stand since they opened way back in the day and I was still a student at KU. I have to say that as far as consistency goes, they are one of those places that has so far managed to really maintain their commitment to quality and remain unchanged in the best ways possible for over a decade. The truffle fries are still amongst the best french fries really within driving distance of Kansas City, the dipping sauces alone would bring me back, but the fries are great solo as well. The burgers are insanely good. Every single one I've had has hit the spot. AND, they still have a great tap list, and casual ambiance that makes this place sing. Ever since covid they opened up a patio in the front which is where we sat on our most recent visit, and it was honestly great, especially for kids as it was a bit less loud, and if a kid dropped a fry on the ground there was a fat and happy squirrel nearby ready to pick it up. Overall, I'm so grateful this place is still as wonderful as it was when I was in my twenties, and I'm sure we'll be back.

We loved burger stand when it was in Topeka, and this location is just as great. The menu is wonderful, everyone is awesome, always a great stop.

I absolutely love the Burger Stand! Lots of vegetarian options including a killer spicy shiitake burger which is probably far from healthy, but it's amazing. My favorite French fries in all of Kansas, the truffle fries are worth the visit on their own. Trendy, cool spot in Lawrence. Does a great business, and it's easy to see why. Huge selection of really unique burger combos, a must stop in Lawrence!

Let me start by saying the burger was actually very good. I appreciated the flavor and uniqueness of my meal. I also thought the cashier was very friendly, and the overall vibe of the place is super cool! However, I likely would not return unless they resolve an issue: pricing. The menu prices seem reasonable for a sit-down restaurant, but it's not really a sit-down place because you're not getting a waiter (you get your food yourself). So, the menu prices are a bit high. On top of that, you get hit with an automatic 15% "hospitality fee", which is not a tip. Then, after you pay, you get prompted to leave an additional tip! What! Makes no sense and I'm feeling a bit swindled. To the management/staff: I understand you want a "semi" tip for cleaning and caring for the tables in the restaurant before/after people leave. Great! Then incorporate that 15% directly in the prices for all to see. Or, have people sit down and be served by a waiter with a regular tipping system. Trying to do one half takeout and one half sit down with full sit down pricing is disingenuous to the paying customer! I don't plan to return or recommend until it gets fixed. Without the pricing shenanigans, this is easily at least a 4-star review. I'd love to come back with a fixed system and update my rating!

Grabbed a burger "Kobe" and fries. They were both decent, I like having the extra fry dipping sauces but the food was just ok. Not much of a WOW factor. We typically only go to Lawrence for events and we had a graduation to attend, so wanted something new.

Dinner last night at the Burger Stand at the Casbah. We had a burger that we customized huge burger cooked perfectly. I added some spicy hot habanero relish. I got the side of cheese, bacon fries, and it was enough to feed four people and my buddy got fries and a beer. I got a Butterfinger milkshake. Everything was really great and not having things like normal mayonnaise. I like it.

We went today for a Bingo event and had such a great time with our hosts Marie Queerie and Karma. I had a drink called "Listen Linda" which was a very refreshing tequila drink. After Bingo and a couple of drinks we had dinner...a couple of sammys and fries. I got aburger called Muenster Smash with fresh jalapeños and cheese and fixins. Forgot the pics. Hubby got the catfish sandwich. Everything was delicious and fun. This place has 3 levels and is very cool with brick/ limestone walls wood staircase and accents. When ordering you walk to the counter. No table service.

I always try to stop in at the burger stand when I'm in LFK. First, they have an awesome tap list. They have so many great craft beers on tap. They usually have some pretty hard to find ones so definitely check that out to start. They also do monthly specials with a variety of items and the creativity is outstanding. If one of the specials looks interesting, I usually try it. A few years ago, I tried the Elvis burger complete with bacon, peanut butter, and banana pudding. Sounds super weird but was so good! This time I tried the September specials The Pear Nut-cessities. It consisted of a Salt Creek beef patty topped with grilled pickled pears, a walnut miso sauce, greens, and whole walnuts. It was good. Not as good as the Elvis but still good. My standard menu favorites include: The Black and Blue Burger with Blue cheese, granny smith apple chutney & assorted greens. The chutney is *chefs kiss*. The Barnyard Bash-Fried chicken breast with sliced avocado, applewood smoke bacon, swiss cheese, spicy honey mustard bbq sauce & assorted greens. This is one of my all time favorite chicken sandwiches. And last but not least the Smoke Burger with Applewood smoked bacon, gouda cheese & chipotle-cocoa ketchup. So savory and rich. The sweet potato fries are also a favorite. A side is huge but they have a larger size that could accommodate two people easily. They offer a variety of sauces. I like the aioli. A fun one is the marshmallow. It's good with the sweet potato fries but it is a little sweet for my palate. The offer shakes, kids meals, hot dogs, salads, veggie burgers and even gluten free buns so I feel confident in saying that there is something for everyone. Something that I think is cool (but I'm sure a bit controversial depending on who you ask) is the hospitality fee. 15% is automatically charged to each ticket and is goes towards providing a higher livable base wage and to expand benefits like health insurance, sick pay, and parental leave. It is NOT gratuity! I'm assuming they went this route instead of raising the menu prices to offset the cost and I'm here for it.

Once again this place is stellar. I LOVE The Smoke Burger. I can't describe all the wonderful flavors - because I already did that in a review. :P The truffles french fries are more than worth getting and not sharing. Whenever I go to a concert in Lawrence I look forward to going to The Burger Stand.

Yes, parking can be a little tight, but that's part of the charm and uniqueness of Big Mill and its history. We've had a couple of visits where the crust tasted slightly like old butter, but it's only happened a few times and definitely hasn't stopped us from going back. The food is good but it's not GREAT. I think the prices are a bit high for what you get. To me, this is a restaurant that is trying to be fancy but can't pull it off. Parking is a crap shoot, at best. The parking lot is super small. The restaurant is easy to access for those with mobility concerns. There will be those who disagree with me but there isn't anything outstanding about this establishment. Every time I have been here, the service has been lacking. Everyone is friendly enough but they have problems getting my take out orders correct. I usually get a burger to go. Oh, yeah... fries are extra. If I'm paying $14 for a cheeseburger, you would think fries would be included. Not here. Bottom line... it's not bad but there are other, better restaurants in town.

Here's the breakdown of the experience: The Atmosphere & Eats It's a bit of a "conjoined twin" setup--bar on one side, bowling alley on the other. Clean, cool, and perfect for game day. The Burgers: Most are hefty half-pounders. I opted for a smaller 1/3 lb version of their Hot & Spicy (jalapeños, grilled onions, bacon, and a killer specialty hot sauce). Huge shoutout to the staff for letting me sub the smaller patty onto a different burger--super accommodating! The Sides: Crinkle-cut fries were solid, though they could've used an extra 30 seconds in the fryer for that elite crunch. The "Local Flavor" (The Drama) The only downside? The "day-drinking regulars." One guy was stumbling so hard he tripped over an elderly couple's walker and sent their drinks flying. The husband was ready to throw hands, and while security stepped in to de-escalate, they let the drunk guy stay. Pro-tip: Maybe keep an eye out for the "stumbling regulars" if you're sitting near the walkway.
