This place is getting 3 stars due to the service and wait times. The food was actually good just not worth the 2 hour wait, especially when you're told it would be a 60-90 minute wait time and people that came after you are seated before you. The hostess was ok, but seemed to be giving preferential treatment to others. When I went up after waiting 70 minutes to find out how much longer it would be she told me one to two hours more. This after telling people that just arrived it would be a 45 minute wait. Then when I asked her about she said may e another 15 min. It was a total of 2 hours we waited. By this time I thought the food better be amazing to get over the wait. The food was actually good. My husband had the hot smoked Salmon Benny, while I had the peace maker (fried chicken Benny and fried green tomato Benny). All were decent, sauce was the best part. We shared the banana foster Pain perdí, which was good, not too sweet or over powering. Just the right amount of sweetness. The waitress, Jackie B, was kind and gave good service. By far the best breakfast recommendation on a travel weekend I have ever tried to date. So where to start! O yeah the mimosa's, nothing better after a long night and not wanting to feel the repercussions of the fun had! So on to the food it has the great creole New Orleans flare! The pancakes and French toast are on point and are great southern breakfast. To move on to the New Orleans flare it is wrapped up in 3 dishes. Eggs Cochon, Chicken St. Charles, BBQ shrimp and Grits. Or better yet the The Trifecta or The peacemaker. You cannot go wrong with any of them according to my friends who I have introduced to this in our travels to the Big Easy! A few weeks ago, around lunch time, I had a hankering for some brunch for lunch. Ruby Slipper had been on my radar for a while, so I decided to head over and treat myself to some eggs 'n stuff. This was my first time here and the location is just gorgeous. I love the huge space with plenty of natural light- I'm sure it gets packed on Sunday mornings. Looking over the menu, everything sounded amazing. I kept it conservative and got an order of Chicken St. Charles with a side of grits and a side of bacon. I also got iced coffee and hot coffee, just to get my mind right. The Chicken St. Charles is poached eggs on a piece of fried chicken atop a biscuit. If it sounds like I just described a piece of heaven, you aren't wrong. There's just something special about breaking a poached egg and the yolk drips all over a piece of fried chicken and onto a biscuit. There must be a word for it, but I'm not sure what it is. Let's just go with deliciousity. This deliciousity was off the charts and I had no idea how rich it was going to be- and that's not a complaint. The side of grits and bacon were a perfect round off to the meal. The grits were delicious and the bacon might be some of the best bacon I've ever had at a sit down restaurant. The iced coffee was okay but, surprisingly, I actually preferred the hot coffee. They serve it in a huge mug and it's just great. First morning in NOLA and we found ourselves here since it's walking distance from where we were staying. The place is surprisingly big and we got in without any wait on a Friday morning. All 3 of us ordered coffees and looked at the menu. My friend pointed out his favorites and I ordered a Benny with pork debris on a biscuit. Husband ordered a breakfast sandwich on a biscuit. My meal was great - the eggs were cooked perfect, loved the pork debris or shredded pork. I didn't feel like I was shorted on the portions. I wasn't crazy about the biscuit since it was pretty hard to cut into with a fork at times and the way they split my biscuit had me with a thicker biscuit on one side than another. Husband confirmed my biscuit thoughts in terms of the texture from his sandwich. He also was overwhelmed by having candied bacon. It's good the first bite, but almost gets too sweet as you go on. Service was great. Our waitress made sure to check on us and I felt like we didn't have to wait long for anything. I really liked how everything is done on the iPad and made getting the check a breeze. Overall, this was a great start to our foodie adventures in NOLA. read more

Long wait so I sat at the bar, no problem. Ordered my food, waited over an hour, food is good, no problem. Problem happened when the food never came. I drove two and a half hours to eat at this location for them to tell me an hour into my wait, after ordering, they were out of biscuits. Really? Ate here during Mardi Gras visit Feb 2023. In restaurant dining service was great Veronica our server was attentive and responsive. Hostess got us seated right away and I highly recommend getting on the wait-list. Three stars for the takeout order that required an inordinately long wait even though Veronica said the order was supposedly entered when we received our in restaurant food. It took an additional half hour after we had finished and paid to get THIS?? Really? SO disappointed! And it is not even good! Where's the bell pepper onions bacon garlic?? Fancy new edition of the now pretty extensive Ruby Slipper chain that started in Mid-City. They continue to execute with a reliable continuation that matches my experiences at the original and in some ways even exceed them. I'm not a big breakfast person but they offer a decent array of brunch and lunch items for folks such as myself along with some rather well executed alcoholic beverages to add to the fun. There was a bit of a wait as this location has grown quite popular so do plan on that if you are doing a visit during the weekend. read more

Obviously we're dealing with this virus so everyone deserves a little bit of slack right now, but I had already given them that slack by agreeing to wait 40 to 50 minutes to pick up French toast. By the time I got there I figured it would be ready. It wasn't. I had to wait an extra 25 minutes. Normally, I don't mind waiting, but waiting is worse when you don't know how long it's going to be. And it's even worse when there's no one there working the front to tell you anything -- whether the food is done, not done, whether they've gotten your order. I absolutely LOVE the Ruby Slipper and I love the food there I come to New Orleans almost purely for this food. I have been to many different locations throughout the city. This was my first time at this location however, and the food was just as good but where do I start with the service. Our server was Katlyn S. who had the entire lobby with no food, not checking on us, taking +25 minutes between seeing us, we had no water and getting a hold of her for more than a second was impossible. She DEADASS rolled her eyes at us multiple times. She was most likely having a bad day and she made sure all the customers felt it there with her. Damn girl I have worked at a restaurant. Trust me I get it. But the way you treated us and other tables was unacceptable. I literally had to shout at her to get the check after we waited for over 20 minutes and it probably took her 1 minute to charge us. What's the problem? We are nothing but nice and patient and a simple "Hey sorry I'm very busy I'll be with you guys in a few minutes" would've been all we needed to hear. She was absolutely horrible and needs to be retrained on customer service. A smile would've changed everything. Even if the food is great with that kind of service, people won't come back. Do better! Chose the Ruby Slipper(Magazine St.) for breakfast our 2nd day in NOLA. Our experience started 30 minutes before the restaurant even opened. We were super early so we had to wait, but one of the waitresses noticed us and set us up a table outside. Once we got seated inside, our waitress Aurryana greeted us with a sweet smile and recommendations. The food is delicious, and perfectly made and plated. The peach bellini pairs excellent with the berry Chantilly pancakes. Coffee is phenomenal.... sweet tea is brewed to Texas standards. The customer service and interaction is top notch. Aurryana was fantastic and very friendly. The managers are super friendly and interactive as well, offered various recommendations for other great dining options in the area. The atmosphere is very airy and open.... giving you that local coffee shop vibe. I couldn't be more impressed with a restaurant than I am this morning. read more
