Visited NOLA for my birthday and the Yelp family and locals said this was the tourist/local spot to go for good food. However the wait was going to be 1.5hrs and we just didn't have that time. Luckily this location had a bar and go figure 5 open spots next to each other was available. Happy Birthday to me and thank you universe. We sat at the bar and the bartender Dom was a riot. He was fast, funny, witty and honestly was exactly what this group needed. We laughed and laughed and our drinks were amazing. Our brunch turned out great, we connected with Dom after work to continue the birthday fun. Truly looking forward to coming back again. read more

We came here for a late afternoon brunch and with the help of their online waitlist, we were able to be seated as soon as we arrived. Although it was packed, a waitress approached us immediately and brought us water and gave us suggestions since it was our first time there. I decided to order the catfish and grits and my boyfriend ordered the chicken St. Charles. They were absolutely slammed, so there was about a thirty minute wait for our food. By the time we got our food, the catfish and grits was a bit lukewarm, but we were so hungry at that point that we did not mind. The catfish and grits came with a pork tasso cream sauce and a warm biscuit. Even though it wasn't piping hot, it was still absolutely delicious! The chicken St. Charles was also fantastic. All in all, Ruby Slipper has absolutely delicious food and good service at a reasonable price. I would definitely go back in the future! read more

Quick service, great food! Think upscale diner foods that happens to have a great bar. A round of drinks for breakfast. Spicy Bloody Mary. Bacon infused Bloody Mary. Brandy milk punch. Iced Irish coffee. We ordered the special king cake stuffed French toast for the table. Thick French toast brioche bread filled with sweetened cream cheese and topped with green/yellow/purple sugar served with blueberry compote and bacon. Got it for the table and shared. All thought too dry. Soak the bread in the egg wash! Otherwise, great flavor with crunchy sugar. Sweet compote helped w/dryness and cream cheese filling was drinkable! Would not order again. Got country breakfast. Grits, poached eggs, bacon, fried green tomato and biscuit. Nice stone ground grits were delicious. Turned reset into sandwich on biscuit w/hot sauce and brown sugar butter. Biscuit was flaky and buttery. If the stuffed French toast was not dry this would have been a 5 star breakfast. I will go back. read more

Who doesn't love Happy Hour for breakfast? Besides the half price mimosas (seasonal flavors are the best), the chicken St Charles Bennie was amazing! Fried chicken on a biscuit with the eggs covered with a pork tasso cream sauce. I don't know what was in the sauce but I want to go back! read more

This was an easy 5 star. It was even better than the French Quarter, Ruby Slipper one which I did not think could happen. ItThe food was even a little better here (which is saying a LOT!). I 10/10 recommend this restaurant! I visited for the first time yesterday, and I am already preparing for my return. We began with an order of fried green tomatoes with a Peach Bellini and Ruby Mimosa. For an entree, I had an omelet (pepper Jack cheese, onions, tomatoes, spinach, and ham) with a pancake, and my bestie had the shrimp and grits. The blend of flavors were ON POINT. The set up of the restaurant was really nice, and it had a great vibe. The waitress was lively and provided great service. Staff were all friendly and youthful. A well known breakfast chain in NOLA. This is just one of four locations. I would encourage u to download the app NOWAIT which is tied to yelp. This app allows u to view restaurants and save your place in line. Which in NOLA brunch time can certainly offer a lengthy wait. My husband used this app which is how we found this spot. Other places already had an hour plus wait on a Saturday morning. One of the can't misses I gave a try was the RUBY Slipper Mimosa which is sizable. Champagne, OJ & Pomegranate. It was delish, but holy cow I needed a nap afterwards. I also had the BYOB 3 egg omelette. If ever there was a place that I overate, it's here. The portions area are very generous and the food was amazing. Service was great. They accommodated our group shortly after arriving and were served immediately. This place gets crazy crowded so u should definitely check the app out first! All in all a great breakfast spot. Pick your location, but this one was a hit for our group hands down! read more

My daughter and I were so excited that there was no wait at noon on a Friday. We sat down right away. 'Tia' came to get our drink orders. Said she'd be right back. Unfortunately she disappeared for at least 10 minutes. We saw her serving another table at one point and passed us right by. Came around after we signaled and introduced herself again and asked for our drink orders. I reminded her what we ordered and asked if we could order. Said she'd be right back. Which she was - with our drinks. We ordered and waited far too long for breakfast, which was lukewarm at best. Refilled my drink, so thanks. Asked for the check and got it right away. Took out my credit card and waited and waited and waited. Eventually left cash + tip. Not what I'm used to at Ruby Slipper. Definitely won't be back there. read more

Always enjoy the food here, however, it was my first time at this location. It was New Years Day and the morning before the Sugar Bowl (geaux Huskies!) so it was heeeeeella busy! It was a long wait due to the crowd (over an hour on the waitlist and another hour waiting for our table) so we could see & hear people getting frustrated. Kinda expected to see a manager helping field some issues, but despite being worked like crazy, Justin (the host) held it down. Him and Blaine (our server) made our experience a great one. Justin communicated our status as we waited, ensuring we would get served even though closing time was quickly approaching. And Blaine was super attentive and accommodating throughout our entire brunch. They both deserve raises (because I can only imagine the people giving them hell) because our service was phenomenal. And then there is the food. Everything was delicious! - beignets, french toast, omelet, grits, biscuits and gravy. It was worth the wait and we were told typically its not that busy. I just wasn't impressed. Sorry. I guess my expectations were too high based on the prices I had seen on line before we went. The food was good, but it didn't knock my socks off. The portions weren't very big either. I had one of the eggs Benedict. It was average. Hollandaise sauce was not very good at all. It didn't come with any sides. My grandson ordered pancakes and he got one piece of bacon. I don't think I'll go back. IHOP would have been better. read more

Visited this place on a Tuesday around 8am. It was almost empty so we were seated right away. I went with the the peacemaker which basically allow you to choose two different type of benedicts. I went with the chicken and substituted the pork sauce with the regular hollandaise and also choose the salmon Benedict. The chicken Benedict was the tastier even though thought the chicken was a bit tough to chew but still good. The salmon needed a bit of lemon. My wife went with the skinny Florentine which was average as expected given it's in the light section. Although we got to taste their potatoes which were really good mainly because they are soaked with oil and salt. Finally we finished if with the banana French toast. The portion was huge! It was soaked with syrup which I liked. The French toast was hot and fresh but it stretched a bit when I took a bite, it wasn't bothering me but would be better if had more of crunchy texture. When it comes to New Orleans it isn't a city that specializes in southern style food, but this fried chicken was so good. I know it's not a po boy, but I'm glad I went with a good old fried chicken sandwich accompanied by one of their versions of a an eggs Benedict. Nice little cozy cafe is the best way to describe this restaurant. I know that pre-Covid they had outdoor dining, I'm not sure if they are doing that currently, but it's definitely worth taking out. Staff is really friendly and it's a great way to start your day if you're yet visiting and are going to explore the amazing things this city has to offer! read more

My last review was in 2020, and I'm happy to report that the quality and atmosphere remain top notch. Their beignets and coffee are a classic must have, and I can personally vouch for their Americano. It is consistently well made and delicious. They also have a great selection of beer and cocktails if you're looking for something a bit stronger. What really sets this place apart, though, is the hospitality. We have always had great interactions with the staff, but a special shout out goes to Jimmy, whom we met this past week. He was incredibly kind and hospitable, truly making us feel right at home. These workers and owners were so accommodating and welcoming to me that i was able to purchase two slices which were hot off the press. Longer: So I was a little hesitant to go to CDM, because it's such the tourist stop and the first joint anyone mentions when they say "beignet". But this was our first stop, morning of first day. I gotta tell you, the texture is just a little different than Cafe Beignet, the Four Seasons, and even the other CDM in the park we tried a few days later. To me, this is the best one. Now, as a coffee person, their black coffee is strong, rich, and a good compliment to the real show - the beignets. But I did not pick up on nearly as much chicory in their chicory coffee as, say, Cafe Beignet's version. Also, I have to let you know the other location in the big park serves a non-chicory version (in addition to NOLA chicory) that is head and shoulders the best coffee we had in New Orleans. I am extremely disappointed to have to write this review as a longtime patron of the Ruby Slipper. However, my experience today (3/18) at brunch was deeply upsetting. I have celiac disease, and upon arrival, I immediately informed the waitstaff of my dietary restriction. They provided me with their allergy menu, allowing me to make an informed decision about my meal. I ordered the migas and specifically reminded the server to mark my order as gluten-free. She confirmed this and even noted "no tortillas" on my order, as they are the source of gluten contamination. When my meal arrived, everything appeared fine. However, about halfway through eating, I discovered a fried tortilla mixed into my eggs--at which point I knew I had been glutened. Shortly after, I started experiencing symptoms and had to rush to the restroom. While I was in the restroom, the rest of my party unknowingly asked for the check. When I returned, I informed the server that I had found not one but two tortillas in my meal and was already experiencing a reaction. I wasn't looking for compensation; I simply wanted to inform her so that this mistake wouldn't happen to someone else with a gluten sensitivity. I fully understand that cross-contamination can happen, but this was not cross-contamination--this was direct contamination. Unfortunately, her response was dismissive. She told me that I should have informed her earlier. I then pointed out that my allergy had been clearly noted on the order and that the food runner had even reassured me that the migas were gluten-free. She continued to insist that I should have said something before she printed the check, but my party defended me, explaining that they had asked for the check and boxes while I was in the restroom, unaware of what had happened. I left feeling incredibly disappointed--not just because of the mistake, but because of how the situation was handled. As someone with celiac disease, I rely on restaurants to take food allergies seriously, and I was deeply let down by both the kitchen's mistake and the server's response. I truly hope that Ruby Slipper improves its handling of food allergies in the future to prevent others from experiencing what I did today. read more

While visiting New Orleans, we stopped by around 10 AM to put our names down for a party of 7. Big mistake, and we knew it. The host was so understanding and explained that it'd be about 2 hours and offered to split us into a table of 3 and 4, possibly near each other, since that division may allow us to be seated in 30-45 mins. We politely declined. We had some cocktails at the bar - the Ruby Slipper ($10, orange pomegranate mimosa) tasted more like a standard mimosa but still delicious - and waited. The bartender was also notably friendly and patient. After we learned that half our party went to the wrong Ruby Slipper and would be late, we told the host we'll take the two tables. They were so accommodating, and about 1.5 hours after arriving, we were seated. Three of the four of us opted for the Costa Rican ($12), which was quite satisfying. I didn't realize the crispy plantains were chips as opposed to fried plantains, but I was pleased with the half an avocado on each plate. In a mix of starvation and delicious food, we all licked our plates clean. Also, as someone who requires no less than 3-4 cups of coffee in the morning to get my day started, our waitress was very attentive and generously refilled our waters and coffees throughout the meal. Our friends for the other table arrived, and I tried the Salmon Benedict, which was rich and flavorful - definitely not a bad option. Summary: Delicious food, good service, and pleasant atmosphere! Details: This was our first time at Ruby Slipper. We got there around 11am on a Tuesday and the 3 of us were seated quickly. It was not crowded at this time. The waitress was pleasant. When she came to take our order, I told her I had trouble deciding because there were so many items on the menu that sounded delicious. She tried to help me decide which item to order. I ordered the Florentine Omelet and it was delicious! Melt in your mouth delicious! Someone else had ordered the Southern Breakfast and he said it was delicious, too. He sampled a bite of my Florentine Omelet and said it tasted really good. The prices seem reasonable. This was one of my favorite things about visiting New Orleans, my seat mate on flight in told me to go to Ruby Slippers so we went in for brunch the first morning in town, had the sweetest and downright cute waitress named Aurryana who suggested some amazing things I would have not tried. There were just 2 of us but we ordered food for 4-6 and everything was so very delicious! The iced coffee was so good I crave it a week later! The apple pie beignets were out of this world! Loved the menu where you can order 3 different eggs Benny and every single one was so good I couldn't choose a favorite. We ended up going back the next day and had a different waitress who was also so good but my heart belonged to Aurryana. The chefs put so much love into the food, the bartenders and baristas make the drinks with love, and the employees were all so friendly and kind! I typically never write reviews, but this was SO good I had to! My husband and I were greeted by a wonderful host who was very helpful in assisting us in understanding the waitlist. We sat after 30 minutes of waiting, but it was well worth it! Our waitress, Izzy, was so joyful and enthusiastic! She was inventive to our LOADS of questions and answered them patiently and with great responses, unlike some of the other servers at establishments, we have been to. She told me to get the Peacemaker with the Crawfish and Grit cake, and the Chicken St. Charles, and man was she right! My husband is a big guy, so he got the Trifecta which was awesome!! Also, we are typically not day drinkers, but Izzy hyped us up so much, and we both ended up down 4 drinks by the end of the meal. I even told myself to write a review about her last time I came; but this time really topped it! She has the friendliest, warmest smile and sounds VERY HAPPY to be at work. The food was delicious, a wonderful tour of local specialities with excellent presentation. Each food was well balanced, great textures and flavours. We visited 3 different locations for the ruby slipper during our trip to New Orleans. The atmosphere at the magazine Street location is laid back and happy. Dom, our server, was fantastic and extremely compassionate and quick. When my order wasn't correct he went out of his way to make my brunch perfect! Where to begin... Let's start with Tommy, an amazing young woman that went out of her way to ensure we had a top notch experience! She is lovely, attentive and thoughtful. On to the food... I had a great time today at Ruby Slipper! The food was great. I had the white chocolate bread pudding pancakes which were sinfully delicious. The service was also amazing; from a prompt greeting at the door to the amazing server with her tasteful tattoos, quick-witted humor, menu suggestions, and attention to our need for refills and extra napkins made for an overall top-notch experience. We stopped at Ruby Slipper during our trip, and unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience. The food quality was underwhelming compared to other spots we've tried, and service fell short. Our waitress even spilled our mimosa flight across the table and onto us, which really set the tone for the visit. Overall, the service didn't match the warmth and attentiveness we've experienced at smaller mom-and-pop restaurants throughout this trip. read more

While in New Orleans with my mom we stopped off to have brunch here at the Ruby Slipper. This place is definitely hopping all the time the line was running out the door. The service was fast and they had a very friendly staff. We sat at the bar where Amy Keller was our server and she was absolutely amazing!!! Amazing! I have had a bad experience at a location a few months ago so was very iffy when this place was suggested by my family. BUT! Our server had purple hair.... Believe her name was Aurryana. She was AMAZING! Very attentive, knew exactly what to Recommend- the Chicken St. Charles (AMAZING!!!!) u have to come here at least just for that!! Food was excellent. If you are looking for something different then what you are used to, this is your place. I had the Spanish omelette and my wife had fried chicken on French toast bites. Her meal has a hint of heat which is definitely different from our normal but it was amazing the flavors. Our server was super sweet and nice (Tommie M.)I would recommend. My partner and I visited Ruby Slipper and were amazed at not only the quality of food, but also the service. We had the Beignets, Crab Cakes and Bread Pudding for dessert with a Mimosa flight. Heavens to Murgatroyd!!! This is easily one of, if not the best meal we've ever eaten. I cannot recommend this place enough! Such a warm and welcoming environment! Can't wait to return. read more

Also, while I was cutting into it, I hit some kind of ligament or gristle in the meat that I couldn't cut through. That kind of turned me off, so I ended up stopping about halfway through... The donuts I got a couple of the creative ones (Cereal & Milk and Banana Pudding) for some family. They looked really good and the family said they enjoyed them! My total came out to $38 for the biscuit, two donuts, two small cups of milk, and a medium iced coffee. The coffee was a bit small--the "medium" looked almost the same size as the small milk.
