Ruby Slipper is a fast paced sit down brunch-aurant (don't steal my word!). I can say that from a logistics standpoint, it seems tough for them. This is a popular brunch spot, and if you and your party are not there ON TIME, you all will be waiting. If you have friends that are known to be late, tell them to come a half an hour earlier than the actual meet up time. My most recent visit was a birthday celebration, and the total party count was 14. Lesson learned: For parties larger than 8 people, go somewhere else. The customer service is decent, but I understand the fast paced environment they are in. Be patient, my friends. As for the food, you know the food is going to hit the spot. The trifecta is my jam. Every time I'm back in my hometown of Baton Rouge I always ask friends and family for new spots to try. One of my buddies recommended this spot and this is by far my new favorite breakfast/brunch spot in the city. The customer service and the food was great. I got the sweet heat chicken and french toast bites, shown in the picture, and my Fiancé got the breakfast sandwich that I unfortunately didn't get a picture of. The atmosphere is very casual with both indoor and patio seating. There is also bar with with seating near the front entrance. Definitely recommend checking this place out. I do not unfortunately understand the hype of this place. Every time I've tried to come there is an impossible wait. It's not that clean. The floors are very sticky. The only reason they have the 2 stars is because our server was the best. I was very happy with him. I wish I remembered his name but he was very honest about the menu and super helpful. I wish they had bottomless mimosas. It gets pretty pricey when it's not. My friend got the shrimp and grits. He said it was almost too buttery/ oily to eat. My other friend got the same thing as me. I feel horrible for Sierra! We ordered and started with a latte... it came COLD. Husband asked for them to take it back. They offered hot milk? $4 latte that was cold. Not even lukewarm. If that was a first impression for breakfast... It wasn't a very good first impression. The poor server wasn't left with a lot of alternatives (call mom?) so I left her a tip and we left. Snippy staff. Shocked as I write this. I just upped it one star because Kelsey reached out to me. But I still won't come back. If this is the first impression, its my last impression. I'm sad for it, and I am not being snooty. $4 for a latte is not cheap. You can get a much better cup over at McDonalds for LESS. The issue is a) when a product is not good and b) when the server doesn't have the maturity to know what the right thing to do is. My experience today was very upsetting and if this was my first experience I wouldn't be back. It's maybe in the high 30s this morning in regards to the temperature outside. It was freezing inside. The heat was not on. One of the waitresses had on a scarf, coat and had her ears covered up. I never took my coat off. Even with my fleece lining in my coat I was still chilled to the bone. I sat and waited for someone to address me after the hostess sat me at my table. One table was helped, the second table and by the third table being help I stopped a waitress to inquiry who's section I was sitting in. Maybe they didn't see me because I was camouflaged (I had on my military uniform). She replied she wasn't sure who's table I was sitting at but she would find out. After another 5 minutes the same waitress that assisted the two tables that were sitting directly beside me came over and apologized. She offered to help me. Let me tell you never am I disappointed, I had the morning margarita drink, it was tasty it was more on the tart side but refreshing non the less . My momma and I came for Sunday brunch and there was wait even though they have the option to join the wait list but it's nothing like the Yelp wait list that lets you know your place in line and the time. So you have to go there and let the hostess know you're on the waiting list and the hostess will tell you how much time you have to wait for a table. Since my last review, I was contacted by management, who did an excellent job rectifying the aforementioned situation. I was given the opportunity to try the French toast that they mistakenly neglected to give me on my previous visit and it was pretty good. It was fresh, which I appreciated. The brioche was a great choice for this dish. I really enjoyed it. 5 stars once again for the staff and management for taking customer service seriously. For my first time here the wait time was HORRIBLE!!We were first told 15 min wait time which turned into over 30 minutes. Was told by Lisa we never have a 15 minute wait. People walked right in and were seated before us because they reserved online which made us wait longer. If I knew about reservations online I would have. I was happy to make it over to this place again. I added myself to their waitlist via Yelp while I was on my way. So it didn't take too long. They seated me at the bar with a spot blocked off to keep things socially distanced. The service was nice and the kitchen was a little backed up but I think it took about 30 minutes to get my food and I was all done within an hour. The candied bacon is delicious. The French toast isn't any more special than what you make at home so I really recommend getting some kind of topping for it rather than the classic. Turns out you don't always get what you pay for. I am highly unimpressed. I ordered the "stuffed French toast". My French toast was "stuffed" with peaches and cream. The label "stuffed" is incredibly misleading considering that the peaches and cream cheese were just stacked between my slices of bread. Also, the peaches were canned and lacked flavor. My food wasn't hot like it had just came out of the kitchen. My food was bland, overpriced, and disappointing. The others in my group were also disappointed and unimpressed with their food. I do like that there is outside seating. Not a lot, but enough. It worked well for my family to hang out with my mom. The weather was was great. Service was good. Had to send a coffee mug back since it still had lipstick on it and a few plates for the appetizer that already had food on them. The food ordered was pretty good. The French toast bites were very sweet. Made me think of what Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal would taste like if it was actually French toast. I'd probably pass on that the next time. The vanilla coffee was good. A little sweet for my taste, but delicious any way. The chicken st Charles was excellent! I will be back for that.
