The food here is soo good, and very tasty. Great breakfast and brunch spot. I've been here twice and my taste buds have appreciated it both times. I mixed and matched two Benedicts which is called the Peacemaker. I chose crawfish and their summer crab special. It was all sooo delicious. I savored every bite. And the amount of food was perfect to fill without being overstuffed. The restaurant is cute, and well decorated. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I've done both and liked it. I've only been on the weekends and they are really busy! I suggest using the online waitlist function to reduce your wait time. That worked well for me. You can put your name on the waiting list and they'll give you an estimate of how long the wait will be. This will vastly reduce your wait time in the restaurant. The restaurant gets 4 stars instead of 5 because even after getting seated, it took a while to get service. We waited a while before putting our beverage orders and getting water. Otherwise staff were pretty friendly and did attend to my wants even though it took time. Also the ruby mimosa was disappointing. It tasted like a normal mimosa and even though it was large it didn't seem that there was much champagne. It is also overpriced for the quality. Adding salt and pepper helped so it was not a really bad meal. My friends also ordered Benedict's and they said that they enjoyed theirs. The waitress was kind and topped us off and gave us time to eat and talk and was there to help us if we need it. I would say that this place could be really good. However, at the moment that I went, I saw that this place could improve upon itself by adding more seasoning and cooking food that is more consistent. Well seasoned and well made. I know that some people gave different tastes and eat more salty than others. However, I believe that there should still have been a taste to the food and not fully bland. We, party of seven, should have left when we had to wait 30 minutes longer past our called in reservations. Our server looked like she did not want to be there and did as little as possible. The food was okay most of it was cold. She never offered refills on drinks, was not able to get her attention to order more drinks or anything else. We were brought wrong food and were never brought food that was ordered. Needed to get a manager involved more then once to get food. Unfortunately a server's attitude can make excellent food taste horrible. Probably would recommend this place but not on a weekend. read more

This was my first visit to the Baton Rouge location. I visited the NOLA location years ago and wasn't impressed. I decided to give it another shot. I joined the waitlist in advanced and it showed 25-40 minute wait. Once I checked in at the location, we waited approximately 15 minutes. The place is much smaller than I thought which explains why the waits in the past have been much longer than what was on the waitlist today. We started with an iced vanilla coffee that was pretty good and 2 peach mimosas that were very bland. They tasted like water with peach puree. The service was very slow. We ordered the French toast bites, southern breakfast, and original pancakes with added scrambled eggs. It took right at an hour for our food to come. The place was packed so I guess that's understandable. The French Toast bites were pretty good. The praline dipping sauce was sweet and had a wonderful flavor. The original pancakes had a nice flavor but they were overcooked on the bottom. They weren't burnt but the bottom was hard like cardboard. Couldn't enjoy them. The scramble eggs were runny and undercooked, didn't eat them. The southern breakfast was ok. The biscuit was nice and fluffy with a homemade texture, however the taste was a bit doughy. I wasn't offered any condiments for the biscuit and decided not to ask for any. The grits were bland but once I added salt and pepper they were ok. I probably won't return. Far better places for breakfast/brunch in Baton Rouge with less wait times. read more

Unfortunately, I have to knock Ruby Slipper from a 5 star down to a 3 star. We were disappointed in our most recent visit. The French toast was very burned on the bottom, so my wife had to order something different. By the time the new order came out, I was pretty much finished eating. Usually, places like this will at least take half off of that order, but they didn't do anything to compensate. Not that they HAVE to, but it would have been nice. Breakfast sandwich wasn't very good, and the Cochon eggs Benedict was not as tasty as last time either. Overall, the food and experience was a letdown: (a $43 letdown). The vanilla latte was good, and the fried chicken eggs Benedict was very good. So they still do some things well. Not sure if we'll be back though. read more

They have a really good like sweet maple butter with their biscuits which I would definitely ask for if they didn't give it with the biscuit already! Since I'm so boring I usually get a BYO omelette and it is always fantastic. It is served with grits and a biscuit, super basic but consistently so good. DO NOT COME HERE On May 16th My fiancee just graduated so we decided to celebrate here. We have frequented the New Orleans location for years so we expected great service. Once we were sat, an extensive amount of time had passed and we hadn't even gotten waters nor even been greeted. We understood they were busy but once some people who had been sat after us started to be waited on I got up to approach the hostess stand to ask if we had been forgotten, to which she was shocked because we had been sitting for 29 minutes without even being greeted yet. Once our orders were finally taken we were told the restaurant was out of metal utensils so we received plastic ones that broke immediately when eating while those around us received metal ones. The fact that a compensation for an appetizer at the least for the poor service wasn't atleast offered is insane. Spent $80 on a meal with poor service, broken plastic, and excessive wait times. Stopped by as I am never on this side of town and I have always just wanted to drop by this place. Very small and full of NOLA vibes place which I liked a lot. We were greeted promptly and seated inside. The menu has quite a few breakfast and lunch options but I went simple and got pancakes and bacon. The pancakes are huge and you are given two in an order. You will be just fine with two pancakes trust me. The batter was good, not the best but good enough for me. The bacon was yummy and crispy. Overall it was a nice place and I look forward to trying it again but it isn't one of my top list only because of the location and the food not really wowing me but don't get me wrong it was good. Don't bother making a reservation for Sunday brunch. Made a 12:00pm reservation 5 days in advance. Arrived at 11:50am We had to wait in line just to check in with many others who also made reservations. Finally made it to the hostess stand at 12:10pm just to be told there will be a 30 minutes wait. At 12:35 our table was ready. Only available seating was outside on the patio. The fan above our table was off. We asked three times to have it turned on like the others, but no one ever came to turn it on. Food was just ok. Nothing spectacular. My wife and I originally were going to try to come to the ruby slipper cafe in New Orleans however the weight there was very long and I just couldn't wait that long to eat. When going to baton rouge I noticed there was another ruby slipper cafe close and told my wife that we had to try it. The food had looked so good from their website and there were a few things that I thought we just had to try. We made a reservation online and drove over to be there in time for it. When we got there we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving at the bar. We were given the option to wait for a table but the bar seating was fairly quick and we opted for that. It seemed like they were trying to space people out on the bar likely due to covid so it felt a little cramped but also safe of the same time. We had got the biscuits and gravy and the trio of eggs Benedict. The biscuits were large and very good and the gravy was delicious. We split each entree so I also tried my wife's trio and each one was very good. All in all I think this place is really good and a little chic. And if I live closer to one I would probably frequent them more often. read more

We had several requests as we were dining with our awesome 8 yr old. He didn't make us feel extra for our multiple requests and he handled each one of them with care.
