Now this place HERE!! OMG!! 10/10! The food was so amazing! Fresh, hot and seasoned to perfection! I went here with my boyfriend and we both got different things so we could try and it was very delicious! The fried fish and shrimp were very good and hot and fresh which is the best way to go! and the fried chicken! THE BEST! The service was amazing!I loved how they brought our food out to us it felt more like a sit down restaurant. I will say it is a little dark in there but they play good music. Upon first look this place seems very iffy as you have to open a barred security door before the other entry door. The young lady that greeted me from behind the bar was very nice. I placed my order and then others working also kindly greeted me. Inside they had several tables to dine in and many seats around a bar area. It was nice and cool inside. The slogan of, "a small place with big taste" was pretty spot on. The fried chicken was spot on and tasted great. My wife got the fish and shrimp and said it was very good as well. Was not a fan of the potato salad but that's a type of food that is very hit or miss in my opinion so to each his own with that. Overall I suggest trying their food if in that area. read more

This has been the worst dining experience! Ordered my food before I left Baton Rouge, was told twenty minutes. Arrived, paid for my food and then the wait began ! The young lady taking orders was not very friendly nor did she appear to happy! She was very short with customers and seemed to have a very agitated response to anything anyone asked her! Then as the place began to get more crowded, there were people that ordered the exact same thing I ordered and received their food and left and I was still standing here waiting!! Several other customers also complained about call in orders and then still waiting for extended periods to receive their food ! So hopefully they will get it together soon because as of now it's a no-go for me ! read more

Brown's is a family favorite that never disappoints. I grew up eating Brown's & so did my mom. It's always hot & tasty. Tonight my mom, aunt & I had shrimp plates which were tasty with a lil spice. They only come with a soft roll & a scoop of potato salad which I don't care for so I had to get an order of fries to supplement it. Well I'm only giving 4 stars because the food is not what it used to be before Mr. Calvin retired or whatever happened to him. The fish used to be well seasoned you can taste the marinade in it from being seasoned the night before. Now it's like you're just eating battered fish with no taste and you can taste the after taste of it. The shrimp are still amazing, and the potato salad has improved oh my goodness it's so good!!! definitely going for shrimp and chicken. They have updated the place from what it used to be. Main point: I'm calling it. This is the best fried chicken I've ever eaten. Ever. Been multiple times now, and every time the chicken is GD perfect. It's interesting and keeps you coming back for more, while still representing the heights of what great, great southern food is all about. Come here and get chicken. Get a large chicken dinner. It's 8 pieces, potato salad and 2 rolls for $10.50. It's enough for 2 people. But get it for yourself and take some home. Service is fairly slow, but perfectly friendly. Slow is good. Slow, because they will fry your chicken to order. Every time. So it's always hot, fresh, and face-meltingly good. It's best when hot. Also best when eaten standing in front of the fridge alone in your pajamas 4 hours later. Also best room temperature the next day at a picnic. Oh my God this chicken. Beer's cheap too! 2.25 a can for Bud. Get yourself one while your chicken cooks. They also have shrimp, fish, and jambalaya. Never tried those. Chicken too good to miss. Unlike the chicken, the sides are not the best I've ever eaten. Potato salad that comes with the chicken dinners is fine; pretty smooth in texture and mustardy. Cool if that's your thing, but not my favorite. Rolls are nothing special. Honestly, don't waste the calories when you could be eating more chicken. Parking's on the street and can be a little tricky when the place is crowded. Not a big deal though. Also, place is closed Monday/Tuesday, so be aware and don't be disappointed. Cash only. I live just down the road from this place. I feel like my property values should go up being in the neighborhood. Seriously, get your hind quarters to West Baton Rouge parish (yeah, across the bride from downtown, blah blah blah, it's soooo worth it), and eat this chicken. read more

One of my favorite new spots. I been hearing about this place for years but just never made it there until today for lunch. I don't know about y'all but I like hitting hole in the wall spots they can surprise you with great food. I had this catfish that was so good and it was more food than I thought it would be. It's like chunks of catfish but not quite like nuggets and it doesn't have the bit of slimy/greasy part like most catfish nuggets. It's very meaty and fresh. Next time I'm trying the chicken. I hear it's the best around. The owner is real cool too. He be in there chilling and this other man (somebody grawpaw) be chilling at the bar probably everyday sipping on a beer talking about his common law women haha. It's was funny. I love the place and the owner. They cook to order so no heat lamps, the chicken arrives and has just the right seasoning on it to compliment the chicken flavor and the outside is crispy and delicious!
