I was hoping for an overall great experience at Ruby Room after reading the positive yelp reviews and booking a haircut, but it turned out to be the opposite. I went in planning to chop off exactly 8 inches of hair for donation. I thought the stylist understood what I wanted since it was very straightforward, but she ended up chopping off 11 inches of hair instead of 8, cutting my hair at a different length on each side of my head, giving me 1-2 inch long uneven and choppy layers that I did not ask for, and leaving a chunk of hair missing on the right side of my head. She did an extremely lazy and messy job. I was only allowed to look at my hair for a total of 30 seconds before I paid and left the salon since she pointed me away from the mirror for the duration of the haircut. My stylist also seemed to be in a hurry and rushing me along during my appointment even though there was no one else waiting in the salon and I was making major changes to my hair that I was clearly nervous about. I would not recommend Ruby Room to anyone looking for a haircut. read more

I don't know what their service is like, because I didn't get to use it. Bought their Groupon and then when I went to redeem it, they refused to allow me to use it for the massage I purchased it for. The Groupon was for "services" with the only restrictions of no Saturday appts and no use for facials or retail products. I found this to be a bait and switch and was very upset by this. While the woman was very nice and tried to offer me other "services", they were not what I wanted or needed. I will never go ther and suggest others be cautious because of their poor business practices. They should honor their commitments without adding addition restricitions. I was able to get a full refund from Groupon. read more

I love the overall layout of the store and how nicely decorative it is. I'm disappointed in a couple of things: 1. no prices are shown on crystals that are on display. I actually heard a worker say "I THINK it costs.." Your employees should know how much merchandise costs.. 2. No trays were given for crystals. Every crystal shop I have gone to has given trays out to their customers for ease of shopping and selecting. 3. The bags don't reflect the store well. I was expecting something cooler than something more than generic. read more

I was using up Groupons as well. Had bought two for gifts, but then wasn't able to schedule massages for the group of us, so ended up using them all myself. They were not happy about this, but allowed me to use them because they said their system wasn't set up to prevent it, so there was nothing they could do. So the fact that they allowed me to use them (even though they obviously didn't like it) was good. So I had several services done, using up all my groupons over the course of several months. Chakramassage, chakra cleansing, chakra healking, color, scalp massage, and a deep conditioning treatment. Loved the chakramassage and the color turned out great (though I think I am more meticulous when I do it at home than she was, getting all those little wispy hairs around my face), but wasn't too impressed by the rest. They messed up two appointments, scheduling things together that weren't possible and not informing me until I arrived (like can't do scalp massage and color together b/c of the oils used in massage). The scalp massage was pretty lame actually; she was rough and hurried and it lasted all of maybe 5 minutes, while the blow out that came with it took about 40 minutes and i was going from there to the gym (I didn't come for a professional blowout, I wanted a massage and scalp massages are the most relaxing to me). Plus, it was done in the beauty chair with chatter and music and traffic all around, so it was far from relaxing anyway (even if she had been good at it). I went in once for the chakra healing and got put on a machine instead to read my chakras, which took the whole time and wasn't what I'd scheduled. They did offer a free service to make up for that mess (either a free scalp massage or chakra healing) but I was just glad to use up the groupons and be done with it. The chakra massage was good; the best service I got I think. Seems the massage people are different from the spa/healing center people - less fluffy, more genuine. I felt like maybe I wasn't cool enough to be there (might just be me or they subtly made me feel like it) or like I was a food-stamp child using up my groupons. I also had the experience like others of being offered tea and then never getting it or getting it then having to lay down to do a service right away so not being able to drink it. Anyway, I wasn't impressed enough to go back, but could recommend the services individually maybe, especially the color and the chakramassage. NOT the scalp massage (unless you really want a quick rub and a long blowout). The intuitives seemed sweet and were pretty good and I did feel more balanced after some of the energy work I got, which is saying something, definitely. I found it hassling to make the appointments, have them change on me without being notified and then be treated a little like second class when I got there just wasn't too cool. read more

After walking by this place, which is only a couple of blocks away from my house, for months, I finally decide to give it a try. Not sure why I haven't before... could have been the numerology/astrology/aura readings advertisements. For a pragmatic person looking for a reasonably conservative haircut, it just seemed a little too much. However, after trying a couple of other places in the area, which left me with frizzy bed hair (beach sexy - yes, conservative job appropriate - no), I decided I should try this one out. I made an appointment to stop by after work, and on the way there was daydreaming of one of those transformational haircuts you see on Oprah. The place is very cute and clean and comfortable. The atmosphere is posh salonish and relaxing. Now I must say that I was there on a Monday and there weren't busy, so Saturday might be a different story. They have a little make-up and hair products store, which was fun to browse through for a few minutes before my hair guru, Kristina, picked me up. After a few minutes of talking to her about what I wanted (I had no idea what I wanted) and my hair problems (too much, too frizzy, too long, too blah, etc), she flipped and ruffled my hair a few times and explained what she was going to do and how she was going to use my humid mop of hair to my advantage. I just nodded because honestly every time I go to get my hair cut, it sounds great, the problem is that after the cut, it just sort of stays how it was... maybe not as frizzy, but not worthy of Oprah transformation, that's for sure. Anyway, she was very attentive, explained what she was doing and what products she was using and why. I thought that was very helpful. I know some of the reviews mentioned that this places pushes their products. I haven't experienced that at all. She also asked me if I wanted my hair styled how I would do it at home or how I wouldn't be able to do it at home. Yay - she realized that I'm hair challenged and there would be absolutely no way in hell I could replicate what she could do! So, the whole experience was very nice. Now to the results - subsequent to my hair cut, I stopped trying to get onto one of those transformational shows. I LOVE my new haircut! LOVE IT! It is AWESOME! The best part is that I can make it look like what it looked like after I got it cut. YES! Plus, even if I don't style it - it still looks cute and not frizzy. Where were you all my life?! Well, for the last year of my life you were two blocks away from me, but that's irrelevant now. Needless to say I will be back! The only "negative" thing to say about this place is that it is pricey. Kristina is a creative director and it's $75 for a haircut with her; other stylists are cheaper. But you know what?! I was so worth it for me! And, she said I don't need to get it cut again until about 2 months later, so I can suck it up and honestly I have been using a lot less styling products since I got it cut, so it all probably evens out. read more

It must've been my stylists' first day cutting hair...ever. First off, yes I was disappointed with my Groupon like countless others on here. I'm glad RR decided to extend the coupon for some of you. I was not one of those lucky few. I ended up settling for a $55 haircut and wasted the remaining balance of the Groupon. Moving on. Cassandra was my stylist. She offered me a glass of water when we walked in. We both stood there awkwardly because I think she expected me to pour the water (which is fine, but I thought that was part of the pampering?! No?). I told her I wanted to 'clean up' my current cut. She seemed to understand my wishes and we moved to the shampoo station. I should've gotten up and left after she washed my hair...It was like a cat clawing on my head. No joke--my eyes were watering by the time she rinsed the conditioner out of my hair. Needless to say, her feline technique did not include a relaxing head massage (the part I was looking forward to the most!). She dried my hair in a very haphazard way so that my hair follicles were poking in all sorts of directions. She told me she was having a hard time drying my hair because I had some static. A lot of people have extra static in the winter. It shouldn't hinder your ability to properly operate a brush. At this point I was on the verge of walking out. I decided I did not want her to cut my layers so I asked her to slightly trim my longest layer. She sprayed Air Control right in my eyes and sounded appalled when I told her I used Aveeno shampoo and conditioner. Seven minutes later she was done and I was free. I can't believe I paid $50 for this (price of the Groupon). It was awful. I left feeling very tense. For a sec, I thought I was on the show Boiling Points (I would've won the hundred bucks). I immediately called Art+Science and made an appointment with them. I honestly cannot venture to that strip of Division without cringing. read more

yes, i have seen some of these reviews, and yes we do have to up sell our inventory because our jobs do depend on it, if my retail wasn't up in three months i was fired. you see, but its a fact that sales is in this day and age just like any corporate or business setting, lets face it, it happens everywhere, BUT we wouldn't sell you just crap ...you see it takes so many years for people to finally come in to get healing, acupuncture yoga or massage or to finally look great with their hair that we want to offer up products that support your continued success in whatever you are working on to become a more harmonized being. As for those bath salts someone mentioned, they are Aveda and they have the same price no matter where you go. as with any items everything has a mark up we sell good stuff not cheap crap from china, quality can sometimes cost but in the end it is worth it. why does everyone need to scrutinize selling? we dint mean to be pushy at all we are very nice to you and yes if we have been pushed by our bosses to up it, we will get a little motivated more than usual to sell (and perhaps they need to be more laid back about this too towards us if we are getting so many noticeable reviews on this fact) but we really do not get commission off of the stuff at the least its pocket change. but honestly we are interested in you carrying out your mission to take with and support what ever you visited the ruby room for, I'm not a disgruntled employee who is ranking on the ruby room here, i just want to set the dial straight on whats what, there's nothing wrong with our business only the people that come should be willing to do their own work and continue the healing at home and that will make every ones life a little bit easier, so relax and come to the ruby room we are really very interested in your well being and want to genuinely help you, if we are a bit excited its because we believe in what we have it has been researched and brought in for a reason. If you have a problem go to the top rather than cowardly writing in this space here, so you think it will do you a difference to post it here? take action write letters make phone calls, we can only be better if you let us know how to be better. i hope this review helps for those in a cloud of confusion about the ruby room as a former employee who has moved out of town. i still believe they are doing a good job there and would recommend it anyone coming into Chicago read more

It seems they don't really care about new clients. I made an appointment here and when I arrived, they told me that they booked someone else at that time, even tho' I had an appointment. They told me to just go have some coffee and come back 45 minutes later. No apology, no discounted service or other "sorry" offer...like it was my problem. So I just left and vowed to never return. There are too many other salons in Chicago to put up with this kind of treatment. read more

I have only had two experiences at the Ruby Room, and they were both very bad. By FAR the worse of two experiences was getting my haircut by Rylee. She butchered my hair. I told her explicitly that I was very happy with my haircut, and that I wanted was the most minimal trim possible. What I got was the crappiest haircut I've ever had. The sides did not match, and there were holes/gaps where cut it too thin and unevenly. It went from long, layered hair to a Carol Brady hairdo. It cost me $200 to go back to my regular stylist (with my tail between my legs) because her cut actually ruined what I had going on with color too. My regular stylist called her trainee over to show her the botched cut and said if you did this I would fire you. The girls at the front desk were nice, and sympathetic and offered to have another stylist try to fix it. However, after the damage had been done I didn't want to take any more risks with an unknown person. I've learned once and for all that you get what you pay for. Now I've six months of growing out to do. They did offer me some herbs to try and have my hair grow faster (not kidding). My other experience was with Philip. It cost $60 for a 30 minute numerology/energy session. Philip is a nice man, but the session made no sense and was really just repetitive statements of the first idea he had. I've been through many healing modality sessions, I have to say this was the weakest. read more

after moving from northern california, i was a little skeptical about the ruby room because of all the glitz and the commercial feel. however, i am glad that i gave it a chance, because i had the most transformative massage experience of my life there the people at the counters aren't pushy, they are just business-minded. and they are hardly "new-age" or cult-like. not like i have the authority to say, but they just seem like typical midwestern metropolitans. no one has ever tried to convince me to buy anything; they always just let me look around. anyway, my advice would be to look beyond exteriors, and give the people who do healing work there a chance. it is well worth it. read more

I got a makeup "party" at the Ruby Room, but unfortunately it did not turn out so great. We came into the Ruby Room and it has a very nice appeal, it looks very elegant and peaceful. My 4 friends and I were excited for our "Makeup Party" we had ordered. We were introduced to our two makeup artists who were going to serve us. We were surprised when They pulled up 2 stools in their lobby and told two of us to go first. We thought it was going to be a fun event, at least a separate room! Two of my friends went first, and me and my other friends were left to wait. There was nothing for us to do. We explored the Salon, it was very pretty. Soon after around 20 minutes we were severely bored and tired. Finally it was my turn. My makeup artist was great, but we found out that the other makeup artist mostly did facials-makeup wasn't even his specialty. Of course, my friend who had him came out with a ghost like look, Her skin looked so pale. My makeup was good, but the mascara was clumpy. The thing that really shocked me was the prices ($65 per person!), and that it isn't even a party. I would have been ok if they had brought us into a separate room and had SOMETHING for the rest of the participants to do. read more

I had a massage there, room was cold. Air vent was blowing on me, with no way to control temperature. Masseuse was good, but her hands colder than the room. In her defense, I complained about the room, not about her hands because i thought they would naturally warm up- they didn't. In 90 min. they stayed cold throughout. It was my birthday, I wanted to enjoy the experience and not complain about everything. So I sucked it up, because she was good. Went to check out and pay with the gift card that was gifted to me. "Sorry, this giftcard is for show- there is no way of me knowing what is on there because we updated our system." HUH? How does that even make sense? I have never heard of such a thing in my life. I pay with my cc, My friend sends over her credit card statement, proof of purchase for the giftcard. Unfortunately, now they don't have the capacity to refund my card for the charges or delete the transaction. Why would they have somebody working the front desk that is unable to accomodate guests and clients? Any way, management reaches out the next day and after researching they offer me a refund via venmo or paypal....or check. Unfortunately, they do not have the capacity to just refund my credit card. They supposedly just updated their system, which was why they weren't able to origianlly locate my gift card in the first place. It apears the system is still antiquated. I work in customer service, I understand the ins and outs, and I really try not to be difficult - but this scenario was a doozey. As much as I would like to support local and encourage others to support local, perhaps the spa environment is not the place to start. I wanted to like the Ruby Room, i really did. I have heard about this place for years, but even though they are mailing me a check to refund the giftcard, Efficiency and Customer Service is crucial in the overall experience. I rather go elsewhere. read more

i'm so incredibly happy groupon led me to this place. i've had such a struggle finding a good hair salon worth the price in chicago ever since moving here. i've spent over $100 on hair cuts hoping that it'll get me something that i love and i'm always disappointed. i got my hair done a week ago at a different salon who didn't understand what i wanted no matter how many pictures i showed them or explained, so i walked out with an awkwardly uneven chunky mess. theresa completely fixed my hair back into the exact style i've wanted. i barely had to even explain, just show a few pictures and how i style my hair. they used an amazing vegan hair product that made my hair feel amazing after and the whole experience was just great. i'm definitely not going anywhere else to get my hair done. can't wait to tell my friends about this place! read more

How did I not know about this place when I lived here!!! I decided to get my eyelashes tinted for some upcoming events in Chicago, and decided to check out my options in NYC (where I now live) & Chicago. The great reviews on Yelp for Ruby Room, and the fact that they use all organic dyes made it an easy decision to go here. Paul was fantastic; very calming, and explained every step since this was my first time. He informed me that it was the end of spa week, and my shoulders were telling me I needed a massage, so I booked one for the next day with Aubrey. I have been getting massage therapy for 15 years in many big cities at specialty massage centers, spas, chiropractic offices, and this was the BEST MASSAGE EVER!!! Not only did Aubrey find all the knots and work out the tightness in my neck, she gave me a lot of insight into some stomach problems I am having, opened a blocked chakra in my stomach, and sent me home with a written list so I couldn't forget it all later. I was also completely impressed with Kristen, who assisted me at the front desk and gave me a tour of the zen lounge upstairs, which is a wonderful experience just ascending the gorgeous stairway. Though the cost for a massage here is a little higher than other places, you get what you pay for, and this level of expertise is definitely worth the money. Don't waste it elsewhere on just an ok massage. I will definitely be going back before I leave Chicago this trip and every time I get to come back!! Thank you Ruby Room!! I'm so happy I found you :) read more

This review is for facials. I've been going to my aesthetician, Jenifer, for about a year now and I have nothing but good things to say. She's fantastic and professional, and also very nice and funny. When I leave here, my skin feels amazing and I am super relaxed. read more

I went to Ruby Room for a haircut / color based on a recommendation from a friend, and could not be happier. My appointment was with Laura, and she did a fantastic job. I was making a very drastic change to my hair, as well as getting a full highlight. I had a great experience, and came out looking like a whole new person. Laura has definitely earned herself a repeat customer! read more

I purchased a groupon for 2 colon hydrotherapy sessions. I am now hooked and will be a regular at this spa. Jennifer is amazing, friendly, funny and gave me really great suggestions to clean up my diet. She knows what she is doing, plus she will adjust to your personal comfort level. The entire process can be uncomfortable for a newbie, but she made it a lot less awkward. I recommend this service to anyone that has digestive issues or if you simply need a cleanse to get your diet on track. read more

I am always annoyed when stylists seem unable to cut my hair, which is always on the shorter side. Problem solved - Randee is fantastic. I will never go to anyone else again. RUBY ROOM HAS A SALON?? I have been long over due for a hair cut and was sent to Wes at the Ruby Room. After walking around outside for ten minutes because I couldn't find the front door (which happens to be a side door, the front door is closed off... with no sign) I finally got in. I was beginning to get worried when the front desk girl who had her mouth hanging open for a good ten minutes didn't even acknowledge that I entered the Salon. Wes noticed that I was just standing there and came to me.... HE IS AMAZING! He listened to everything I had to say, took his time and actually did what I wanted!!! My highlights look amazing and I have honestly never had a better haircut. Its been two weeks since I got my hair done, and at least once a day someone new asks me where I had my hair done at! Nobody even knows that Ruby Room had a salon!! (I didn't either until I was refered by a co-worker) GO TO RUBY ROOM...no... GO TO WES!! read more

Had a great massage with Victor. He made me feel at ease and it was a very relaxing massage. They have really nice treatment rooms and didn't hear any noise from outside. You get undressed in your treatment room. There is no locker room or showers to use if you're just getting a massage. Unlike other yelpers, noone pressured me to buy any products. In fact, noone really paid much attention to me as I browsed around the store. The women that worked there were busy talking to each other. read more

I love the Ruby Room for its artistry and the quality of gem stones I can choose from if I am in the "mood" to add to my collection. I have shopped here and enjoy the ambiance of this cozy new age spiritual goods store. They have a playful collection of Native American Indian smudge wands and very stylish pieces like pendulums and a few chakra quartz bowls. I contacted the Ruby Room this past Sunday praying someone would be able to give me a deep tissue massage at the last minute and I was deeply grateful that the receptionist had a very gifted therapist/healer right there so I hopped into a taxi and was welcomed into the massage are to some water and fun conversation. James was my therapist and he told me he was familiar with body mechanics and manipulation of the alignment of the body so he could put me back in place. I have to say when I woke up Sunday my jaws were wracked in pain as if I had been grinding my jaws all night. I also had severe pain in my rhomboids, trapezoids, neck and spinal column. James is very intuitively adjusted my spine and muscle groups putting my muscles and vertabrae back into sync and I can not believe how quickly the pain went away. I was scheduled to see him again but I must say that I feel so good that I feel I will be okay until the next session. I am running off to Florida soon but now I know exactly who to see each time my body is run down. The only issue I did have was my need for total quiet but James was so enthusiastic about his work he wanted to give me suggestions during our time together on my body mechanics so I can maintain my posture and he also brought up some philosophical believe systems so my need for complete quiet was not met but my body feels deeply healed and at complete peace again. Some people like to talk during sessions but I am one of those people that would prefer completely silent healings with only a request to breathe deeply into my pressure points. I am feeling my body detox now and I am feeling a bit run down but James was able to help me get rid of a lot of excess toxicity I have been carrying around that needed to be released. I love the Ruby Room for its serenity and its wide array of organic beauty products. I also love coming here because the staff is so warm hearted and they always welcome my dog and lavish her with praises. It is in general a soothing experience and the staff here really seem to love helping people and they seem to enjoy working here in this sacred space. read more

i went a few weeks ago for a full body massage (thanks to groupon), and had kimberlyn as a massage therapist. she was incredible--very attentive and responsive. i've gotten several massages in the past from other spas, but kimberlyn's stood out because she assessed my overall wellness, and paid attention to parts i didn't even realize were sore. i would definitely recommend this to almost anyone looking for a spa in chicago. they have a great range of services and techniques, and really make sure your experience is ideal. the one exception to this would be people who aren't interested or convinced by things like energy crystals, energy healing, or chakras. it's not a central part to the massage, but was brought up a few times. read more

My gf bought me a new bumble and bumble product that I was excited to try at Ruby Room. I opened it and it was too much of a solid wax for my fine hair. Having only gently touched the wax with my finger, I figured they would exchange the product with receipt. Well I was wrong, one day later, the person behind the counter said it was policy to not take back opened product. I asked if they could use it as a sampler and I would exchange for another product and NO dice. She asked me if I got my hair cut there and I asked what does that matter!? She had no response. So I took the product home and they have lost all of mine and my gf's business. read more

I decided to go here through their Groupon promotion. It turns out they sold so many groupons that they couldn't actually fit people onto their schedules. Whole services weren't available on the days that the groupon covered. After trying to book something at a reasonable time for weeks, I finally just scheduled something for nearly 2 months in advance with services I didn't really want. The lady on the phone kept trying to convince me to spend my money on some sort of wacky "healing". Whoever is in charge of this place needs to be fired or demoted back down to "healings" because he/she obviously doesn't know how to run a salon. read more

Had the best massage EVER with Gwen at Ruby Room. She is very knowledgeable, professional and strong! We stayed at their B&B on a recent trip to Chicago and it was just lovely. We usually end up booking an overpriced room at a hotel downtown, but this time we happened upon Ruby Room. It's located in UV/Wicker Park, and is walking distance to a number of great stores and restaurants. There's some free parking (as well as neighborhood parking) which is a huge improvement over the downtown hotels where you have to drop $30 a night to park. And the rooms are awesome! The showers are gorgeous and clean and have steam showers. We were there on a warm day but Chicago in January + steam shower must be an unbelievable combination. It was very peaceful and...well, romantic. No TV, no screaming children outside. Just a pretty, well appointed room. The only downside is the infamous staircase - I was pretty sure I was going fall backwards and break my neck. If you're in good shape and more coordinated than I am, it shouldn't be a problem. We also got a bargain for the last minute room, but it does get fairly expensive during peak season. read more

I usually don't write reviews but I've been pretty disappointed with the Ruby Room. I used to come here alot for crystals and such but the past few time I've been in I have been hounded by sales people. There was a young lady practically following me around the crystal table that kept asking me if i needed help ect.Which is lovely if i needed help but looking for crystals is personal for me. Which I told her, but 3 other employees asked me if I needed help after that. It was like I was their only customer all day. There were also a lot of other employees around on the sales floor, they were all trying to help the customers but it all seemed very desperate. read more

I purchased a Groupon and scheduled a 90 minute massage. While the massage was awesome (loved Amanda!), I had to dock a star because it was not fully 90 minutes long. My massage was scheduled for 2:15, and I waited in the waiting room as three other clients came and went with other therapists. I was really starting to think that they had forgotten about me. Finally, about 2:30, my therapist showed up and accompanied me first to the flower essence area, then to the treatment room. The massage was over at 3:55 (yes, I looked at the clock). Allowing for the time to get undressed and situated, the massage could not have lasted more than an hour and 20 minutes. I loved the massage, but I really believe in getting what I paid for. That said, the massage was truly excellent and I also really enjoyed the flower essence aromatherapy aspect and believe it helped with the relaxation. I would go back again... but I am watching the clock. read more

My bridal party and I stayed at the Ruby Room and had our hair and makeup done there for my wedding. It was a great experience. They only have 8 rooms, so we had them all booked for our group, which was great. They have a communal kitchen where we were able to lay out breakfast and snacks in the morning, which made the morning of the wedding very easy. They agreed to open up at 7:30 for us, even though they usually do not open until 9, so that we could get all of our hair and makeup done in time for the big day. It was very relaxing being able to grab a cup of tea and plate of fruit and just head down the stairs for hair and makeup. Everyone was pleased with the results, and I just LOVED the look that Georgia put together for me. I had done a trial with her and was pleased with the results, but the hair and makeup that she did for the day of the wedding was 10,000 times prettier than what I had seen in the trial! It exceeded my expectations. All of the hair and makeup looked so classic and natural, and it photographed beautifully and held up all day. It was great being near so many good cafes and restaurants, because it gave the wedding party lots of places to go, and I loved being just one flight up from Yogaview. I'd definitely recommend the Ruby Room to other brides. It's not cheap, but it is worth it. read more

The Ruby Room truly is one of a kind! I mainly go there for their guided meditation, energy healing and intuitive reading sessions. They are very positive and make the process of healing seem like an attainable journey, not a stereotypical creepy or intense psychic reading. They have a great variety of crystals/stones, books, incense and all things related. Everyone should visit the Ruby Room for an intuitive blend healing session at least once in his/her lifetime. Also, be sure to check out Philip's guided meditation on Sunday morning 9-10am! I have never had any services at the salon, but it looks amazing too! read more

I had to set up a surprise date for my lady. The Ruby Room Inn was its centerpiece. We strolled up and down the Division Street drag-drinks, dinner, drinks, and then arrived at a little mailbox that had an envelope in it for me. Heidi thought I'd gone crazy, fishing through other people's mail. We unlocked the door, used the password they emailed me and boom! we're in a cute little wood paneled room with a killer hotel bed with those weird long body pillows you only find in hotels and every other detail was considered too: the returns and vents for the a/c were vintage for crying out loud. Bathroom was 5 star and outside our side door was a staircase to one of those magical little outdoor spaces that you find every so often in Chicago. Magical, start to finish. I'll be back next time I need a vacation in my hometown. read more

I was recommended to Wendy and have been going to her for colonics for the past few weeks. She makes the whole process simple, comfortable, and quite ordinary which under the circumstances is amazing. And she's a great person to be around to boot. I couldn't be happier with the service and Wendy is just wonderful. If you've ever considered it, Wendy is the woman to see. read more

A true emphasis on customer service here - I had an amazing makeup application, complimentary, when my girlfriends and I walked in after a Sunday brunch one afternoon. The colors were so perfect for me and the makeup felt natural on my skin. I have fair skin and auburn hair - a lot of lines just don't look right or look somehow harsh. It was the Senna line and they kindly gave me a sample of the amazing foundation, which lasted a very long time. Only disappointment is that they don't have the product in stock now that I need to buy a full size. Fortunately, I can buy from the product website. After the application I purchased the blush and an eyecolor and both are lovely - all ready with my spring cosmetics colors! Will definitely return to Ruby Room for other services, especially for skincare due to all the outstanding reviews. read more

I originally came to Ruby Room with Groupon last August and couldn't be happier! Toni is an incredible colorist and stylist and I can't imagine going anywhere else! I've yet to try out any of the spa services (a little pricey), but I absolutely love getting my hair cut here! read more
