One of the best massages I have ever had! And I've had my share. I had the body scrub which was just okay. But the massage... I went in with an IT band issue I had not resolved with Physical Therapy, Chiro, nothing was eliminating the pain. I walked out of there at around 95%. I slept like a baby that night. My husband had some quadricep pain that was kicking his ass! He refused to go initially but finally went in. Now he's a believer too! He's stopped limping and is almost back to normal. read more

I came in for a hot stone massage after seeing the hyped review, sadly I left there feeling disappointed. The lady kept rubbing the oil back and forth on my back and I didn't feel any sense of massage. The stone massage was the same. First time ever massage client, I booked a couples massage appointment here for my mine and my boyfriend's anniversary. I thought I had done my due diligence finding a good place, but the whole experience was just bad. The women were rude when I wanted to change my massage duration, my massage was somehow both lackluster and painful at the same time, and at the end I was guilted into leaving a much larger tip than I would've wanted. Overall a huge waste of $150, my back hurts more than it did before I went here! read more

I had a gift card that I just wanted to use up, and im so glad I did. I asked for a deep tissue massage with someone who had strong hands. Did I need it YES DO I regret it YES! She did a amazing job and I even had to tell her to go a bit easier on me. Which is tough for me to say i LOVE deep tissue and she knew exactly what to do and where to hit. I requested massage and facial, received both. It was very quick and very economical not able to do two facials at the same time for two people only one facial spot. Massage decent! You get what you pay for I have much better I just didn't understand why my therapist both asked for tips, as I was paying and asked for it was just awkward, awkward awkward! Had such a great experience here. Visiting Chicago for two days and at the last minute called to see if they could fit me in for their special 30 min massage + 60 min facial. Loved their text reply (wish more businesses scheduled appointments through text- so fast and convenient) and was in within two hours. Kathy was professional, warm, and talented. Found the room to be super comfortable, not pretentious/no pressure to buy products and she actually worked on me for the whole 90 minutes (instead of putting 4 masks on my face with large waiting gaps in between like I've experienced with some other facials). I've been a customer for several years, and disappointed to have to write this review after a recent negative experience. I had made an appointment for a massage this afternoon, but about 40 minutes before the start time they texted me (they didn't even have the courtesy to call instead of text, which meant it was even longer before I actually saw the message) to tell me that they were not going to honor the appointment and wanted me to come 30 minutes later. This would have required me to reschedule a call I had later that afternoon with VERY little notice, so I was already pretty unhappy with this. But then when I explained the hassle they were very dismissive and non-apologetic about something that was 100% their mistake - their attitude was basically "take it or leave it." And they refused to offer any kind of token discount or gift card to make up for it. I'm surprised and disappointed they were willing to burn a long-term customer relationship over something that would have taken very little to make right. read more

If you're looking for an Asian style massage adapted for western clientele, this is the spot! You won't find delicate and dainty massages here, so if you're only wanting someone to lightly rub lotion on your bad, this probably isn't the spot. My therapist (I regretfully didn't catch her name) found all of my of knots and tension and worked miracles. I was worried that we didn't have a quick chat before she started, but now I know, it wasn't even necessary. The session was very hands on with a little bit of stretching that I normally never experience at a westernized spa. She checked in with me often, but not so often that it interrupted my ability to zone out and relax. I highly, highly, recommend this place! The only constructive feedback I could provide is wishing they had more comforting features -- thick blankets on the bed instead of sheets, warming pads (perhaps more important in the winter), a soft landing rug for your bare feet to touch after your massage instead of the tiled floor, etc. Minor things that don't take away from the experience, but would only make it that much more special. read more

I visited Great Lakes for the first time today. I had an appointment for a 60 min swedish massage and when I arrived, I filled out a form to indicate my massage preference (I chose therapeutic instead of relaxing) and pressure preference (light to deep, I went medium). The facility is very clean (you take your shoes off at the door) and has relaxing music/water sounds playing. The massage was excellent. I unfortunately didn't get my therapist's name but she really got into my muscles. The stretching elements were also fantastic. I'm an ex-athlete who does HIIT and works mostly from home so I've got sore muscles from workouts and computer hunch. My therapist used the gua sha technique to really get deep. I had never heard of it before, but she explained afterb the massage that it causes bruises that don't hurt and will go away in a few days. My shoulders and back feel like a million bucks, so I'm all about it! My therapist also checked in on me regularly to make sure the pressure was ok, which was great. After the massage, I received a bottle of water and cookie. I highly recommend Great Lakes and will be back!!! read more

Went here when I saw they had some specials and a great reviewing on yelp. I got the 90 min massage. The girl did a fantastic job! And it was cheap! It was Thai-ish style. Walking on my back, stretching, twisting and deep pressure...yes, I love it. The rooms aren't really rooms...well they are rooms but they are tiny little French doors covered with white sheets. Ha! I didn't mind. I'm curious about the facials! I think they would probably give a really great facial massage! I might have to go back to see. read more

Wife and I did a couples massage recently and felt very safe with their Covid protocols. They added air cleaning machines to the rooms for the extra sense of security. Got a massage today from Ella. One of the best massages I've ever had. She had a great touch and is trained in Swedish, shiatsu, Trina, and Thai. Back in China she learned Trina which she said is about trigger points. She really knows how to find them! With the coupon on the site it was a mid range price. Came here for my birthday with two friends. We were given a very warm welcome and the space was minimalist in decor but bright and clean. We all got 90 minute massages and 90 minute facials, both services lasted the full amount of time. I love their style of massage - firm and thorough with stretching at the end. Facial wasn't the best I've ever had, but I was happy with it. I would say it was more relaxation than serious result-driven. She gave my a wonderful head/neck massage and went through cleansing, serums and a thick gel mask she left on for about 15 minutes. Surprisingly they didn't perform extractions on any of us. Result was clean, smooth and glowing skin (likely more due to facial massage than ingredients of treatments). Only thing is I wish I had a heavier blanket to cover my self with during the facial rather than just the sheet I was provided. I will be back for massage in particular! They gave us a great discount special yet didn't skimp on the quality of service (so appreciated), so if they do the same for you please remember to tip on hat full price would have been. read more

Great service and really relaxing environment. They're very responsive on Yelp and I was able to easily make a massage appointment the day of. Upon checking in, they give you sandals to walk around the spa with. They seem to have a bunch of deals on certain days so be sure to ask them about it. I opted for a 30 min upper body massage. My back and neck is pretty broken, so the lady gave me a super deep tissue massage. It was a bit painful, but when your back is as tight and has as many knots as I do, i don't think the massage is supposed to be all that relaxing. It felt like she put in all her strength for the entire 30 min of my session to try to get rid of my knots. I'd recommend this place. I was sold after one massage with Angie. I cancelled my appointments with my former massage therapist right away. Angie was the perfect blend of gentle and firm, and she really listened to me and my body. She went a little over our time just to accommodate pain that wouldn't budge. She told me the reason I could be having headaches is blood pressure and she noticed it as she massaged me. Not even my doctor connected this. Afterward I felt amazing. The ambience is nice once you get into the room. I like their massage beds because the face cradle is in the table, as opposed to a head cradle that's separate. Super friendly people. read more
