Recently moved to the area and needed to find a new eyebrow lady which we all know can be make or break. Walked in to this place and can definitely say the wait is very hit or miss. I recommend going on a non evening, non weekend time for faster service. Once I was in the chair though they were able to get my eyebrows done very quickly! Eyebrows are hard and I want to say everyone is very nice here. It was quick service and a clean salon. However, she didn't follow my request. She thinned my eyebrows way too much so now I will have to try to grow them back. They were not shaped well either. Ver different between the two. I want to preface my review by saying it is INCREDIBLY hard to find a good brow lady. It feels at times impossible. I grew out my brows and based on the reviews decided to try here for a fresh arch. There was more than enough brow to work with. Still I left with two barely shaped arches. For all intensive purposes? The place is clean, easy to locate and, on a Sunday there was no wait. The woman who did my brows was nice and was patient. I think she's just used to doing "clean ups" and is not fluent in shaping and actually arching brows. I tried giving direction but gave up due to fear of her going too far. She's also not the only person there so it's worth giving it a try if you just need a quick clean up. If you are looking to get your eyebrows WAXED, do not come here. I've been looking for someone to do my eyebrows for months since moving in the area. They will not be able to provide you with an ARCH that you would expect someone who knowns how to arch eyebrows should. The one lady handed me the mirror after she finished and I literally said, "Have you waxed eyebrows before?" OR are you only familiar with threading? she literally did not clean anything up. It looked as though she had done anything. So I asked her again to clean it up more & pointed out where she had literally not removed any hair. Very convenient place for eyebrows! They have 15 min standby parking in front where you can leave the car with emergency lights on. They are super quick so you are done within that time. I can't recommend this place enough. I have been getting my eyebrows threaded for the last 15 years and I always get nervous trying a new place (I've heard and seen horror stories). I am so thankful I found Nikki's a few years back. The price is reasonable, the wait is usually pretty short and the threading is amazing! Not only do my eyebrows look amazing it barely hurts while they are doing it. I've been coming to Nikki's for over a year. They do the best job out of all the threading salons that I've been to (even the ones I used to go to when I lived in New York). I recently just moved further away from Nikki's but I still will take the thirty minute bus from downtown. They are very consistent with their work and do an amazing job. So I've been to Nikki's three times now. I love that I can always walk-in and get a smile and friendly service. You walk in, sign in, & sit down. I am not fancy with my eyebrows so I just get a cleaning. I have to say I must be a wimp in this department because it never gets easier. My eye water and cry every time. Perhaps it's the thread quality (totally being serious right now) because Sara at Pin Curls (they closed shop a few years back but she now works at Tres Bien) was the best and she told me that the quality of the thread matters, so I pay $10 & suck it up. Cash is king, but they do accept Venmo! The first time I forgot my wallet and had no Venmo so the owner insisted on me just writing my name down in an IOU notebook and when I returned I paid double and chose to double dip. In sum, though the quality isn't five stars the service is and so I keep going back!! read more

I had been going to my same eyebrow lady back in Denver for several years, but now that I live in Chicago I will trust no other salon except Nikkis' with my brows. I've been coming here for a few months now, initially I was only seeing Nikki with my brows, because she is really good, and have trust issues when it comes to my brows, but one day I came to see her and she wasn't in, it was my only day off so I needed to get them done. I accidentally found out Nikki has opened her own salon by doing a google search near my work. I used to go to her ALLL the time over the past ten years and was bummed that she's moved. I couldn't be happier. When I went in, she wasn't there but Meghavi was. I'm not new to threading, but this was one of the fastest, cleanest, and less painful full face threading experience I've ever had, if not the most. Before I found Nikki's i had a few bad eyebrow & underarm waxing experiences - all the ladies here do everything in their power to make sure your experience is quick & painless- whether it is using different types of wax for different areas or having you assist them to make sure you skin is flat & taut before they begin waxing or threading. The detail they put into their services is outstanding & the space is very welcoming & comfortable ! I will definitely be getting my eyebrows tinted & trying their henna ( after seeing another clients completed henna I was sold.) Initial review: Nikki's is absolutely the best in Chicago. I have been to places all over Chicago for waxing & none of them come close to Nikki's. It's a beautiful modern salon ( very clean!) I came across Nikki's salon based on Yelp reviews. I've been letting my eyebrows grow out for a while so that I could give this place a chance. Mind you, the salon is about a 15 min drive from my place and I'd definitely continue to make the drive for their service! The salon itself is bright, welcoming, CLEAN, and really cozy. I really tend to judge a place based on the cleanliness of a businesses' bathroom, and the bathroom was really clean! Time for the brows! I asked my stylist (sorry, forgot your name!) whether I should get my brows waxed or threaded.. she told me she felt more comfortable using thread, so I was like you do you girl. Painless and quick, in about 8 minutes she was done! Despite the redness, I immediately noticed how great they looked. I usually have problems with my left eyebrow because it grows slightly different than my right eyebrow, but for once, in a very long time, my eyebrows look even! I also loved the fact that she didn't pressure me into getting another service done (there are some places where they insist on telling you to get something else, like no, I came for what I came for). When it was time to pay, Nikki, the owner, made her way over, introduced herself, and talked to me about her journey and opening her salon. Nikki was really great to talk to, she was very humble, amiable, and caring. She mentioned she overheard when I asked my stylist whether I should get them waxed or threaded, and said, "she could have said waxed you know? It costs more, but she knows what she's doing and she's being honest.. that's what we want.. we want to be honest with our customers." I was sold at that point! The fact that she was working on another customer, but heard my conversation.. and then brought it up, AMAZING! It's nice to know that the owner is aware of the concerns of her customers. You can tell that this is definitely her baby, and she wants nothing but the best. My boyfriend came in to wait for me and she offered him coffee/water while he waited, a + on hospitality. Customers kept coming in and Nikki greeted them all, Im assuming they're frequent customers because she would have a small conversation with them.. Overall, you can't beat the prices, especially in the area it's located.. -the salon itself is clean - service is amazing - and the employees definitely want the customer to leave feeling like a million bucks, without spending a million bucks.
