First, I have to give a major shout out to my girl Nikki Nicholson who has been my aesthetician there for the entirety of my client relationship there! She is honest, a master of her craft, and just the best. I'm not sure I trust the reviews on Google at this point.... I would have said, it's pricey but worth the services but I can't say that any longer. I've been going to SpaDerma West Loop location for 2 years receiving laser hair removal treatment. I worked on several areas. I reached a point I probably should have been getting maintenance treatment but apparently they had already removed the delineated package for maintenance treatment. I only figure this out when I likely should have been transitioned to maintenance treatment phase. I'd bought a new package as there was a deal going on and by this time, I'd likely spent just a little over $3,000. Because I'm thinking this is a reliable place and they would direct me if I'm purchasing the wrong package based on my treatment thus far, I call to purchase my new package which was a little over $1,000. Come to find out, that they didn't give any consideration for my prior treatments. Laser hair removal is a procedure that can have serious consequences and there was no consideration given to my safety and treatment planning. I later reach out when I realized that this was the case through their website. Don't hear back for several weeks, so I reach out again by email and still nothing before I turned to my credit card company to obtain a refund. Mind you, I still had active packages. Only after I reached out to my credit card company did I get a response from management with an ultimatum that I get a letter from my credit card company stating that the issue had been resolved and they'll "remove" my vouchers. Only come to find around the time of my birthday that I'd been misled. I was out $1,000 for a treatment service package that had not been started and apparently when the credit card company followed up with SpaDerma, they led the company to believe that I was receiving the aforementioned voucher services. I fortunately was able to prove otherwise with the credit card company. SpaDerma freezes my account when I still have 4 treatments left in my account. I also double checked this myself, as I wanted to make sure I was appropriately paying for the services I received. I was actually supposed to get a call today regarding an accounting of these services and did not receive that call. Mind you, I only found out in the office that my account was frozen and they were expected me to pay additionally for services that I already paid for. So I'm finding out in office after treatment that they aren't honoring the treatments that I already paid for. I am sharing my experiences so that others won't have to experience what I've experienced. As a woman, I am highly disappointed regarding the treatment I received regarding such intimate services especially after having been with this place for 2 years. Poor communication, deceptive practices. Honestly, had there been adequate communication to begin with, I might have been persuaded to purchase a different more appropriate package tailored to me needs as a client. I don't wish this on anyone else. I was planning to file a complaint with Better Business Bureau but they're not a member. Will attempt regardless. read more

Honestly, extremely disappointed in this place. I booked my appointment online and right when I submitted the appointment request, I realized I booked a day too early. I called IMMEDIATELY and asked them if they could help fix the date as I intended to book for the following day. I thought everything was good as they said it wasn't a problem. Later I find out that I was charged a $50 cancellation fee! I know they have cancellation fees for within 24 hours but I literally called within 2 minutes to have the error corrected and I was charged the fee anyway. Spaderma is my only place thus far I trust to do my laser hair removal. This spa is squeaky clean. They offer other services but I only utilize them for the laser hair treatment. I had a chemical peel before and I did not like the reaction afterwards. I was lucky enough to have found them over Groupon which they offer these promotions for new clients only. They will pretty much do laser on any part of your body minus certain conditions. You must shave before your treatment. They recommend no direct sun exposure for 2 weeks before and after treatment. They prefer you schedule with one tech but they are able to adjust if you or the tech is unavailable. They have limited equipment so book your appointments in advance. My only draw back is their pricing. If you are quoted one price it is only valid for a certain time period. I was quoted a price for 3-session laser treatment over the phone for $179 and arrived the front desk clerk quoted me $299. The front desk clerk did not ask me before charging my card if I wanted to do a package. Which I had inquired after my service was billed to my card. There is a Yelp checkin offer for those who are not sure about committing to a package. read more

I made an appointment for myself and for a friend to begin laser hair removal treatments at SpaDerma. Less than 5 hours before our first appointment, I received a form email that my appointment had been cancelled, without explanation regarding why. No one called to let me know (so it's a good thing I happened to check my email). When I called to ask about the status of my appointment, I was told that my provider was not feeling well and that I would have to reschedule because all the other providers were booked for the day. Sure, no problem. We arranged a new time two weeks out. I asked that my friend's appointment be moved to the same day, but I was told that if I did that there would be a $50 same day cancellation charge, and they refused to reschedule her appointment without charging me $50 (it was on my card), even though THEY had just cancelled on ME at the last minute. So while they could have easily rescheduled the appointment to mitigate the inconvenience caused by their cancellation and secured two new long-term customers (which would have cost them nothing to do it since they could have filled the open slot with another customer whose appointment was also cancelled), they did not. Instead, they decided to disadvantage everyone, including themselves, for $50. That is one-star customer service. read more

Nikki is amazing! I worked with her over the last year in preparation for my wedding and she completely transformed my skin. I had residual acne scars on my cheeks and was having breakouts and she managed to completely turn that around. I have smooth skin now and it's such little maintenance. I used to love coming here because of the results of my laser hair removal, the cleanliness and the ease is making appointments. I had a terrible experience and my results are now non existent. This past visit I showed up to my appointment and waited for over 30 min to be seen. I was told there was a glitch in the system and that they didn't know I had an appointment. This is after I checked in at the front desk... and was literally the only person in the lobby waiting. I finally was taken into a room and my laser specialist was rushed to get in all my services and truly struggled to get the laser to work. She was unable to get the suction to work at my ankles and my wrists and literally missed half of my treatment areas. She kept saying she was going to have another person come try and kept jabbing the laser piece into my shins and wrists. I've been getting lasers for years and never have had this issue. As other people have stated, the results of the laser hair removal have diminished. Maybe perhaps they are using lower settings so that you continue to buy more packages. This is my first experience with a medspa, but it has been great. I originally went in for a free consultation on my skin with Meghan. My skin has been breaking out and very clogged recently, and most things I've been trying haven't worked. Meghan recommended a chemical peel, and they had a package deal, 3 for $300. I came back a week later for the peel. It felt like a facial, with a cleanser, masks, and extractions. The peel didn't hurt and Meghan asked me throughout how I was doing. She gave me detailed instructions for how to take care of my skin after, and I received a free post care kit for buying a package. I am so excited to come back! It has only been 5 days, but the peel is definitely working haha. One thing I'm always concerned about in Chicago is parking, but it was not an issue at all. Nico was AMAAAAAAZING. This was the absolute best experience I have ever had to date. I live in NYC but was in the area for work so I thought why not - I have a few friends who get their Botox from Nico and rave about him and I saw the great reviews on SpaDerma YELP and decided to stop in and have my first ever botox experience but I also got my lip fillers done again with Nico. With a few years in a high stress sales environment it was time DEFINITELY time for Botox. To say that am going to fly back in a few months for my next session of Botox with Niko may sound dramatic but it's true. The Spa: Absolutely GORGEOUS. At home I go to one of the "top injectors in NYC" for my lips but SpaDerma honestly has spoiled me and this place blows other medspas out of the water. When you first walk in you're greeted with extremely friendly faces, super welcoming and definitely help to calm those pre procedure nerves. Not only was it so so so so clean, the colors and overall aesthetic was PERFECT. I am an extremely observational person but i couldn't find one thing out of place. It had that crisp upkeep hospital level clean but not that gross freak you out you're in a hospital feel. You sit down and you fill out all your paperwork on a iPad (a really nice touch btw instead of paper) and then relax in the seating area. The procedures: 1.Lips 2.botox 1. I keep getting compliments on my pout. This is the 3rd time I have gotten my lips injected and it by far is the absolute best. This isn't just me saying it i have heard it multiple times from different people. Nico was welcoming, relaxed my nerves and really sat down and listened to the look I was going for. I work in a corporate setting so I did want a noticeable little pout but I wanted to look natural and that is exactly what was achieved. I did one full session of Juvederm Ultra and I am so happy with my results. If anyone tells you lips do not hurt - they're lying to you - i have the pain tolerance of a beast lol - but Nico went above and beyond to make me comfortable, relaxed and even gave me an ice pack to rest in my neck. I am over the moon with my results. 2.Botox - listen, I never had it done before BUT this is a walk in the park. Pain? Zero. Results? Incredible. Nico was extremely informative, quick and precise. After my first visit, I wasn't sure if I wanted to come back. However, I left an honest review and recieved a call from Amber the next morning regarding my experience. I was offered a redo facial and the second time around it was a lot better. I came in to see Megan and she was amazing! I have LOVED working with Nikki for chemicals peels and with Louisa for laser hair removal on my legs. Both women are incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and just all-around wonderful to work with. They've never made me feel judged for picking my skin or breaking out, and I really love chatting with them during my services... so much so that I don't want them to end!!! Nikki's treatments and on-point product recommendations have gotten my breakouts under control--something years of dermatologists, prescriptions, and "luxury" skincare never accomplished. Louisa has my legs looking great for summer, and the results have been so good that I'm considering other areas for future treatment, too. SpaDerma's prices are competitive, if not the most affordable I've seen, and they generally have some sort of special going on. You can also break up your total into a few payments. I love that most estheticians are active on Instagram, allowing me to see their work. There's metered parking in front of the office, and a few unmetered spots just around the corner if you're lucky enough to snag one. I second what someone else said about scheduling being a nightmare, so just make sure to call to confirm the day before. As for their covid precautions, I'm not comfortable that they're presently allowing procedures requiring mask removal, but look forward to resuming with Nikki once it's safe to do so. read more

I would like to preface this review with the reason why I am giving 2 stars is because of the front desk service, lack of communication/information, and the gas lighting I experienced. The actual spa/botox service I received was great. The NP was professional and I was able to get exactly what I needed done. I recently visited Spa Derma in the west loop and it was my first visit. The NP mentioned that I have to spend $150 minimum (Which was not communicated when initially booking) I ended up getting 4 botox injections which is much less than $150. The NP mentioned since I was a new patient I would get $50 off of the $150 minimum. I was also told that I could use my Alle rewards (which was convenient since I had a $20 reward available on my account). My review reflects the service I received from the front desk employee. 1. The person failed to look at my chart and see that I was a new patient and did not acknowledge the $50 off since it was my first visit. 2. I asked for the tinted Elta MD sunscreen and did not receive the correct product. (I was given the non tinted one without mention). 3. I was told by the front desk employee that I could not use my Alle rewards, despite the NP assuring me I could. 4. Shortly after I walked out of Spa Derma West Loop and returned to my car, I realized I was overcharged. I called and mentioned my complaints above. The front desk employee gas lit me by saying it was my fault I didn't mention that I was a new patient to receive the $50 off. (I believe it was apparent I was a new patient on multiple accounts, ie. filling out new paperwork, the NP acknowledging I was a new patient in front of the front desk employee, etc.) I was told I could not be refunded the money back on my credit card and instead will go on my spa derma account. 5. I've contacted and emailed Spa Derma West Loop and no response or acknowledgement of my issue. I don't really feel too great returning there and so I really dont want that money just hanging out in my account. I ask that the minimum spend, the new patient discount, grabbing the correct product and not being able to use my Alle rewards was communicated to me prior to my visit and passed on to the employees at the front desk who checked me out. Not only is their staff inviting, they are also all very experienced and knowledgeable, and because of that, easy to trust that you are in the hands of professionals that understand your unique personal goals and will guide you to get there.
