Awesome experience at Royal Nails! I initially came around 6pm on a weekday and they were packed. I decided to make an appointment for the day after at 10am, for which it was pretty empty. This place is huge and the staff members are so nice. They have a wide array of shellac nail options, that I had a hard time making a decision. I finally went with three different colors for my nails & one color for my toe's. I loved their attention to detail in cleaning and painting my nails. They do a cash discount and have some specials occasionally so be sure to check out their website before going in. I'd also recommend an appointment, as they are usually quite busy. Parking is usually plentiful unless you go during their peak hours (evening hours during the weekday) - it is street parking. This was my second time there, but it wasn't like my first. Went this past weekend for a deluxe pedi and had to have them remove shellac. She kept knicking my skin which was getting sore. I was nervous to keep putting my feet back in the water after, but since it didn't look like it was bleeding I figured it was fine. Maybe she had just shaved off the top layer of skin. The next morning my toes were extremely sore and the skin around some scabbed. Then later that day, a couple got huge,swollen, and had pus coming out of them. I'm horrified. FINALLY! A place that does a great job on acrylic nails, takes their time to do a good job, polite staff, and a lovely shop. I have seriously had SO MUCH trouble finding a decent nail salon in the Seattle area. So many either don't accommodate acrylic nails or they simply just don't do a good job. I can't tell you how many times I have searched and fell short. I found them oddly enough via their Instagram. Royal Nails, although a bit of a drive for me is fabulous. Very clean shop, fun decor and plenty of space. They offer water or tea when you arrive. Lots of shellac and nail polish colors to choose from. Pricing is reasonable. I went here on Saturday to remove my old gel-x nails and get new ones since I was in town visiting for a special occasion. Although my nails looked nice at the end result, Kim did a horrible job of removing my old manicure. She soaked my nails, buffed and scraped the old gel x like normal, however for a few nails she literally pulled and lifted the remaining gel-x chunks off my nail which is extremely damaging! They arrived shortly before 1 and were sat but no one started giving them their pedis until after 1:30pm-meanwhile they were seating and working on walk ins instead. Recent experience was an hour and a half for a mani/pedí because they didn't take off the gel from my fingernails until the pedi was finished. Pros: online bookings, variety of services, cute setting, massage chairs, sparkling water. Nice staff at check-in. Cons: Half the service providers are grumpy and borderline rude. Shoving legs, feet around. Barely greet you. Make rude faces of impatience, turn off massage chair abruptly rather than requesting. 20% more than similar salons Pedicure doesnt last as long as other places. Please read your reviews and improve service! Price services reasonably. It shouldn't cost $100 for a mani/pedi. I can get the same in L.A. for less. read more

She assured me that she would be able to get it right. And even though I was worried I trusted the process and it turned out amazing! First time I came here I was blown out of the water but unfortunately the second time around I was very disappointed. I called ahead of time and made an appointment. The whole time I was getting a pedicure I was being ignored. She never asked me how I want the shape of my nails, by the time she was done they all had different shape. She rushed me so fast that there were still skin that hasn't been buffed off. In the middle of my nails she got up to answer the salon phone to take appointments. Then took a personal phone call on her cellphone. I asked the lady that was doing my nails if I can talk to the manager and she said she's the owner of the shop. I also got charges extra $15 then the first time. Ended up paying $50 for 25 min of shitty pedicure with gel polish. I would expect better work from someone who is the face of the business. The shape it was filed was so weird and off and inconsistent.. To top it all off...?? $45.00.. excuse me?? I've been getting SNS for a year now. The poor woman had a horrible cold & was wiping her nose on her arm as she was working on me. I know I should have said something but I felt like I would offend her & I know people are struggling financially. I have been there and I get the struggle. I think my pedi was seriously lacking just because she could not function! My friend had an awesome experience so I definitely will give them another chance. Ok so I would not have called her out on yelp BUT as we were waiting for our nails to dry another of the employees was sitting on her phone & was picking her nose, like really going to town...I'll spare all the details. I don't know what to think about this place. On the one hand, there is no male owner being a dictator here, stealing tips. On the other, it is very easy to overpay and while they are not unpleasant, they could be more friendly. Though it is much less pronounced than in other salons, they seem to be speaking about customers (I felt talked about) at times. I had an "onsen pedi" for $45 (apparently I also had the onsen manicure without ordering it) for $20, and an eyebrow wax for $12. Everyone was pleasant, until they were done with the nails and then you were just a wallet. While getting up for my wax, they handed me some flip flops in a very small size that I had to put on myself with wet nails (they were in a size 36 and I wear 43, not sure if they just had one size or what). No elp with putting my shoes on. During the wax, I started coughing; the employee abruptly left the room, and returned with a mask and said nothing but implied it should be put on. Weird! Tipping...I tipped everyone 18% but it seemed like a lot...someone how I spent $87 in 60 minutes. Pro tip: on a weekday, go next door to Sopranos for the lunch special! read more

I have been seeing an independent nail tech for several months. She did such a great job on my nails that I couldn't have imagined going anywhere else. She was booked when I had a whim selfcare day the day before my birthday, so I popped into Royal Nails. I was super pleased the day of, but two weeks later I'm pretty upset. - Nails looked great day of (I do shellac/gel nails) - Next day, I noticed that my polish was cracked across all nails - My nails are so damaged from the manicure that they're snapping off and peeling to the quick. - My cuticles were cut so intensely that I have hangnails like crazy - My pedicure was perfect walking out the door, but the technician dug so deeply into my nail sides and bed that I have ingrown nails on four toes I was stoked the day of because I got a quick walk in, but two weeks after the fact I'm pretty upset about the condition of my nails. Also, I have athlete's foot for the first time since college volleyball - I can't blame it on the studio but it popped up post my pedicure. Comparison: my regular nail tech did my nails before I went on a month trip to Europe and my nails were strong, fantastic, and not peeling. Royal Nails gets two stars for the speed and walk in, but beyond that, I'll never go in again. read more

Misleading color and overpriced. I requested a dip manicure. Took almost two hours to remove my old dip and new layer. I picked a baby pink and told the tech multiple times that I wanted it to be a solid pink , not see through to my finger nail. I don't think this was totally understood as we chose to change to a darker pink, as the first pink was see through. Sadly, the finished result was still see through to my finger nail. Almost looks like clear dip with slight pink. Not like the pink shown on the ring of options. Very disappointed at the outcome. read more
