"WHY DID YOU MOVE!!? I TOLD YOU NOT TO MOVE! CANT YOU SEE IM BUSY!?" Imagine taking your baby girl to get her first pedicure and this is the shit the nail tech is literally yelling at her in her face. I never do this but here we go. Story time! I took my daughter to Royal Nails in Ballard at 2pm on Sept 7th. We had appointments assuring they do kids pedicures ages "10 and younger" for $31. That price should've been the first red flag. They seated my daughter and I together. My daughter sat in a chair made for kids and even so her legs were too short to properly reach the foot rest. She was offered no pillow and no support. The actual first red flag: The woman named "Diane" who did my daughter's feet did not say one word to her, no "hi" "what's your name," nothing. She paints my daughter's first coat, and tells her not to move. Keeping in mind her heels are not on the foot rest because she can't even comfortably reach it so my baby didn't have a chance at staying still. This woman's tone caught my attention but I didn't read too much into it because I understand people have different "default tones." Second red flag: my daughter moved once more due to her position and the woman literally "tsked" at her and stares my daughter down. At this point my baby can feel the energy. I told my daughter, "it's okay, just try not to move and I know that it's hard because you are sitting weird." So then this woman doesn't say a word and leaves my daughter in that position for five minutes. During the five minutes she's trying really hard to keep her feet up. Comes back to do her final clear coat, sits down and sees my daughter's nail paint smudged. She then looks my 3 YEAR OLD IN THE FACE and yells ""WHY DID YOU MOVE!!? I TOLD YOU NOT TO MOVE! CANT YOU SEE IM BUSY!?" at my baby. Immediately I start going off at this poor excuse of a woman. I'm like "Why are you talking to her like that she's 3!!!?" The ugly duckling says "because I told her not to move and I'm busy!" And I say, "look at her! Can't you see how she's positioned!!!? You really think it's gonna be easy for her to stay still? It's okay if it's not perfect, I'm not paying for perfect I'm paying for the experience!" The wrinkled lady storms off. I was pissed to see that there was no staff correcting her. I immediately asked to speak to a manager. Instead they just brought me the next avail tech and when I told him what happened he finally gave my daughter a huge pillow support which she should have received from the jump and said sorry for your experience we won't charge you for your daughter. I said that fixing her nails wasn't necessary but great. what are you guys gonna do about the tech who just screamed at my daughter? He ignored me. I talked to a white appearing woman who said she would speak to the woman and the owner of the store but all I wanted was this woman to apologize. She also mentioned she understands if I don't tip. Although she made me feel somewhat heard, why in the hell are we talking about a tip!!!? My daughter never got one an apology. I paid for my service. Absolutely no tip. Was offered a $10 discount card. the next time I came in and I didn't even touch it. What do I look like coming back there???? I put my baby in the car and I could tell she was sad and she expressed it to me. That l broke my heart. I was trying to be composed enough to not startle my daughter although every instinct in me wanted to do more. If you made it this far I HIGHLY discourage you all from doing business here. The last time I came here I dropped $300+ on my sister and I and a diff woman doing my toes still copped an attitude with me because I wanted French tips. I really tried to give this place a chance. I'm sick of going to salons only for the techs to treat you subpar and then expect a tip. Rant over. Car seat straps were fixed adjusted before leaving.
I visited Royal Nails in early November for a pre-vacation treat. I normally do my own nails, but had researched salons that offer builder gel manicures and found this place thanks to its good ratings and reviews. Booking was easy, so I was optimistic. Unfortunately, things went downhill once I arrived. The technician assigned to my manicure couldn't find the color I'd chosen, so I picked another without issue. But then the staff seemed confused about my services (builder gel mani + shellac pedi). Instead of checking my reservation, they kept asking me repeatedly, which didn't inspire confidence. One of my biggest pet peeves is getting a mani and pedi at the same time, and that's exactly what happened. Two different techs worked on me at once, leaving me tense, twisted in awkward positions, and definitely not feeling pampered. Communication was also difficult since neither technician spoke English, and they mostly chatted among themselves or checked their phones. The quality was the biggest letdown. The pedi was mediocre but passable. The manicure, however, was terrible -- thick, uneven layers that made my nails look bulky and boxy instead of the delicate square shape I arrived with. The gel started peeling within a week, and after removal I realized how damaged my natural nails were, likely from over-aggressive drilling. I paid $150 (including a generous tip), and honestly wish I'd just done my nails myself. Based on other reviews and photos, I believe some technicians here do great work -- but that wasn't my experience. To top it off, the woman greeting customers spent the morning filing her own nails and speaking with her mouth full when new customers walked in, which felt unprofessional. Sadly, my nails will take several months to recover. I won't be returning.
I had an amazing experience at Royal Salon! The service was professional, and my brow lamination, tint, and lash lift turned out beautifully. The staff was friendly, the salon was clean, and I felt so comfortable throughout my appointment. I highly recommend Royal Salon to anyone looking for quality beauty services. I'll definitely be back!
Back again and loving it as always. The staff at Royal Nails never disappoint. Friendly, attentive, and incredibly skilled. From clean workstations to flawless results, every visit feels relaxing and professional. They truly care about quality and customer satisfaction. Highly recommend them for consistently beautiful nails and a great experience every time.
When I got there, the workers started yelling at each other in Vietnamese, which made me uncomfortable because I didn't understand what they were saying or arguing about. Then, a person who seemed to be the owner or manager patted one of them on the shoulder and said, "That's enough." I felt bad because I wasn't sure if she even understood what they were saying. Anyway, my nail technician was very rough. She made my toe bleed, and the edge of my toe nails are not clean at all! Not even. When I told her I wasn't happy about it, she just kept digging and digging, and I was in pain. I told her to stop, but she didn't understand me and kept going. It was not a good experience. When I got home, I realized the edge of my toenail was peeling off. Now, I'm traveling to Sicily with these ugly nails with bandaid on one of my toe, and I'm really unhappy about it. Hope I don't get infection. The manager was nice to listen my complain.
Always professional. Always detail oriented. Clean beautiful spa. Always busy so I recommend making an appointment.
Everytime I come here I walk out with so much anger and regret that I even considered them. I live so close and it's convenient when I'm on a time crunch. I walked in for pedicure only with about 1 hour and 20 minutes before they closed. I called before and the woman who picked up the phone was nice and told me to come in. Standard experience of pick your color and sit in the chair. Unfortunately I did not get any type of consult on my service because the woman who did my pedicure went straight to chopping my toenails. Clipped my big toe down before I could even tell her I like my big toe to be squared. Now I'm flying on vacation with horrible toe nail shapes cut all the way down to my skin. $55 wouldn't seem like such a waste if you'd just consult the client for a minute. Yes you could argue I could have spoken up, my big toe was already clipped off. I was in and out in 35-40 minutes and they were surprised I did not tip. I will always pay for service but I am not one to tip when I am unsatisfied with the service. Unfortunately I will not be returning for as long as I live near by. The ladies in here are nice, but the results just don't match the service in my experience.
Service is great and it's so cute inside! Prices are comparable to other salons in the area.

My sister and I had mani/ pedi here yesterday. First they did not open a new kit of tools us and they just used what were there on their table. They both cut our toes nails very short and the filing was painful and also they cut my sister toe and she started to bleed, they did not do anything and I was kept telling them to disinfect it and she was just pressing the wound with not really clean hands. Today my sister is in so much pain and the wound looks bad. I asked for a french manicure, and they did it so bad. My hand nails were so uneven and in different lenths. Also it chipped just after one day. read more

I loved getting my gel x nails done with Theresa! Gave me exactly what I wanted, and was so sweet about it being my birthday she gave me a little present. I don't get my nails done often anymore but when I do I go here even though I live on the other side of town! read more

I honestly can't get over how amazing this salon is!! I'm a bartender and VERY aggressive with my hands and my nails consistently stay strong!! I've had this set for one month today & not one break!! Incredible! And they do a two week guarantee, so if a nail breaks within two weeks, they will fix it for free! So grateful to have found this salon. read more

Kathy who did my nails was incredibly rude to me, mumbling under the breath the entire time and aggressively doing my nails. She was giving me mean looks throughout the entire process. Couldn't for the life of me understand why she was acting that way, I think she was frustrated with the removal process of gel builder that I got done at this salon. I almost left before it was over but I let her finish. She stormed off without a word to me when she was finished. I've had two bad experiences here. I will definitely not be back. read more

Turquoise gradient nails, a basic set for me after my last long coffin nails that were bedazzled with emerald rhinestones, holographic green and gold accents! Those lasted for over 3 weeks before I decided to let them go- they would've last longer my nails were just a little grown out. These guys are the Seattle nail GOAT! They do it all and can whip up any level of design I never have breakage and if any jewels come off they always replace them read more

First timer for a Christmas set recommended by a girlfriend then they did my feet and eyebrows for total of like 180. Not bad as for the first set I got out in Seattle. The gel x they use keeps everything the right size and shape and holds for a long time. I let the nail tech free style and love the dedication to her work. Very nice to talk to and laugh about with some wine or water. read more

Teresa is the sweetest. She executed my nail design idea perfectly, making sure everything was to my liking before I left. It's luxurious and the best nail salon I've been to in Washington. They offer you drinks and ensure you are comfortable. 10/10 would recommend read more
I got GelX here today and for the most part enjoyed my experience. My appointment was on time and I even got a truly during my appointment however It is so expensive here. $65 for the GelX and $50 EXTRA for a few rhinestones. If I knew the design would be $50 more I would of done it myself at home. The total was $115!! Insane! I'm not sure if I'll be back or not unless I just want a minimal kind of set. read more

I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but I felt that I needed to for this place. Like many, I turn to Yelp when searching for anything, especially new nail salons. I travel for work and am looking for new places every 3-6 months. I found this place on my Yelp searches and the reviews were promising. I made an appointment to get the dip I had on removed and redone. It was almost half an hour before I was attended, that was with an appointment so my experience was already off to a negative start. The lady that was taking my dip off burned my nails 3 times with the drill, giggled, and proceeded to keep drilling without adjusting the speed of the drill. Now, like I said I get my nails done all the time, every 3 weeks to be exact and sure I get burned here or there but not 3 times in one visit. Move onto the cutting of my nails and I asked for them short short, due to work I can't do my job properly if they're too long. She cut them twice and said they were too short, but in fact they're still too long for my liking, but whatever I let it slide because I can file them down at home (which I have no done yet so I could take pictures to post with this review). The shape of my nails is uneven and was cut during the filing process at the end. Like I said I don't write bad reviews but for the price point, $75 to be exact, for this dip manicure I felt like I had to. I don't mind paying for good service and nails but this manicure was not that. I shouldn't have to leave and file my nails to make them even. Needless to say I will be finding another nail salon and envy those who have nothing but positive things to say about this place, I had high hopes, unfortunately that was not the case for me. I will include pictures but I am well aware the pictures don't look all that bad, but in person they do. read more

Love this place. Came here last week for dip. I have very fragile, broken nails due to being on accutane so I understand my nail shape is what it is. I came back a week later because my boyfriend proposed and the color just didn't fit the ring. They are perfect now. read more

They fit me in day of when I was in need of a set before an event. I had old acrylic nails on which we filled with gel builder which preserved the length I already had. I hadn't used gel builder before but I think it'll be my new go to. This was one of the best sets I've ever gotten nail art wise! I also was so impressed with how efficient all the staff were. It felt like mostly regulars which is always good to see. 5 stars. read more

I had been looking to get Gel X nails for a while but no one near me does them so I finally drove out to Seattle to try it and I'm OBSESSED they matched my nail inspo perfectly and now we're at over a month since my appointment and they're all still on! I am notoriously hard on my nails, like I will have nails breaking and popping off in less than 2 weeks (sometimes at barely a week) with acrylic sets so these lasting literally Jan 27-March 2 has been incredible read more

Just got a gelx manicure done by Kim. She was absolutely a delight, took her time to make sure each nail was perfect and didn't make me feel rushed at all. She listened and was ok with giving me a shorter nail manicure, even though it may have been a little more work for her. Highly recommend this place and especially Kim read more

You know how when you try to take a picture of a gorgeous sky and the photo doesn't really capture the moment? That's how I feel trying to photograph this GORGEOUS gel x manicure by Mandy at Royal Nails. I'm fairly new to nail extensions but am already hooked. Mandy is a true artist who has, for the third time now, given me exactly what I wanted while still expressing her creativity. She listens, gives options, checks in often, and is fast and accurate. The pricing is consistent with other salons I checked out. The salon itself is spacious, colorful, clean, and well-staffed. I haven't received other services yet, so can only vouch for the Gel X extensions with Mandy. I highly recommend her! read more

Consistently incredible manicures! My first visit was 4+ years ago when I had acrylics that I wanted removed and didn't know where to go. The staff was incredibly kind and tried to make the painful experience as painless as possible. I was so impressed by how nice they made my nails look that I started coming back regularly and haven't looked back since! I have made countless appointments over the years and have only had a handful of not-so-great moments (it's bound to happen anywhere). My advice is to always call in advance and avoid booking on the weekend whenever possible. The few really negative experiences I've had have all been on the weekend due to everyone on staff feeling overwhelmed, double booking, etc. But if you can manage to get in on a weekday, this place is an absolute dream and your shellac manicures are going to last 2-3+ weeks. read more
This place impressed me with their kind surface and patience! I only came in to get my acrylics removed, but they took the 40 min that was needed to painlessly take my nails off. I've been to several places to get my nails removed and most of them yank the acrylic off my real nail, causing my real nail to break and split. I am happy with their service, I will definitely be coming back ! read more

Made an appointment and came in for a full set and then waited 15 minutes in the chair before being helped. I've gotten acrylics hundreds of times and have never once experienced so much pain. Nail tech drilled down my nails to the point she was cutting through my nail at the base and it was bleeding, and then cut my cuticles which caused more bleeding. She finished the set and 2 days later both of my pinky nails are turned upwards and in severe pain. I am certain my natural nails are going to be ruined, if not torn off entirely once the acrylics come off. For $75+ I expect much better results and service. read more
