When needed they worked as a team on bulky or heavy furniture. Each mover wrapped our furniture in blankets and taped the blankets closed. They asked if they were to move some stray objects that were not furniture. The unloading and unwrapping was an easy process. Thanks to Micaiah, Jose, and Donral at The Moving Kings, this trip from Liberty Hill to Burnet was indeed my most perfect move. These men knew exactly what they were doing. They were exceptionally strong, well-mannered, and fast, and they handled my furniture and possessions with the care a mother would give a newborn. They listened when I asked them to load the truck in reverse order so unloading at the new house would be efficient, and that plan worked. When they finished, they gathered every scrap of packing material, then each man shook my hand and wished me well in my new home. Micaiah, Jose, and Donral arrived on time, never took a break, and worked harder than I would ever have asked anyone to work. The company went above and beyond and made this seventh move exceptionally painless. I am more than pleased, and I am happily settled in my new home. I wholeheartedly recommend The Moving Kings. Unicorn Moving handled an extremely difficult downsizing and extraction move for me with…read moreprofessionalism, patience, and exceptional care. This was not a simple apartment move. I was transitioning from a temporary RV living situation, consolidating storage units, downsizing years of accumulated belongings, and moving into a 1BR apartment. The storage units had been packed tightly by previous movers and required careful staging and decision-making during the move itself. The crew worked methodically, blanket-wrapped furniture, pointed out and documented pre-existing marks before loading, and handled difficult maneuvering with impressive skill. They even opened boxes during the process so I could decide in real time what should move, stay, or be repacked. Nothing felt rushed or careless. I had already done substantial prep work to reduce clutter and create access paths, which helped the process, but the team still completed what was conservatively estimated as a 7-hour job in under 5 hours. They assembled the bed, staged furniture, laid rugs, and helped make the apartment immediately functional. Most importantly, they treated both the belongings and the customer with respect throughout the entire process. Communication was excellent, attitudes stayed positive, and they clearly cared about doing the job right. I tipped them well because they earned it. Ironically, I found Unicorn Moving through ChatGPT while searching specifically for movers experienced with senior downsizing and complicated transitions -- and the recommendation turned out to be exactly right.

The worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Do not waste your money…read more This company does not take care of its customers and does not take responsibility for damages caused during the move. The owner, Matt, was friendly and accommodating when I first called for a quote and to schedule my move, but that completely changed once problems came up. During the move, the movers damaged my TV stand while carrying it upstairs. I personally saw the leg break off and they did not realize I had witnessed it happen. Instead of taking responsibility, they tried to act as if it had already been damaged, saying, "Oh ma'am, the leg keeps falling off." The leg was not loose before the move. A large chunk of wood had been ripped off the stand. I tried to be understanding and simply asked if they could repair or reattach it. They never did. A few days later, while unpacking, I turned on my TV and discovered that it had also been damaged during the move and was completely broken. I contacted Matt immediately, just as I had done regarding the TV stand. For the TV stand damage, I was offered only $30. When I called about the TV, I was told, "I'm sorry Kianna, I can't do anything about it. I can send you the contract again." Paying hundreds of dollars for professional movers only to have your belongings damaged and then be told there is nothing they can do is unacceptable. The lack of accountability, customer service, and professionalism was extremely disappointing. If you choose this company, understand that if your belongings are damaged, you may be left covering the cost yourself.

Overall, my experience was a mixed bag with some definite pros and cons. My appointment was scheduled for 8:30 a.m., which I chose intentionally because this was an August move in Austin and I wanted to get as much done as possible before the worst heat of the day. At 8:06, one of the movers texted to let me know they were having truck problems and would be arriving between 9 and 9:30. They kept me updated, but ultimately didn't arrive and start until 9:30, a full hour after my scheduled time. Unfortunately, losing that hour meant much more of the move ended up happening during the peak afternoon heat I had specifically tried to avoid with the early appointment. They also called when they arrived because they weren't sure where to park, even though I had provided parking instructions in my confirmation email. They arrived in a U-Haul rather than one of the company's branded trucks, which I assume was related to the truck trouble. The two movers themselves were incredibly nice and pleasant throughout the entire move. They took good care of my furniture and wrapped and protected pieces thoroughly. Nothing about the handling of my belongings made me nervous, and I appreciated the care they took. That said, the pace was slower than I expected. For context, this was one person moving out of a one-bedroom apartment, not a family or large household, and I had done a LOT to prepare. Everything was fully packed, approximately 30 reusable moving boxes were staged together for easy loading, I had pre-wrapped some furniture and I even moved about 15 vacuum bags out to the truck myself. My old building did require navigating hallways and an elevator, which understandably added time to the load-out. On the other end, however, the truck could park directly outside my new ground-floor apartment with access through both the garage and front door, so unloading was about as straightforward as it could be. The move ultimately took about 6.5 hours. By the end, the Austin heat and humidity were understandably taking a toll and the pace had slowed considerably. Since I was paying by the hour, I eventually told them to leave some furniture for me to reassemble and some items for me to move into the correct rooms myself because the time and cost were continuing to climb and I needed to stop the clock. This is where I'm a little torn on whether I'd use them again. The hourly rate was considerably cheaper than several other quotes I received, but after a 6.5-hour move, I think the final cost probably ended up being similar to what I might have paid for a more expensive but more experienced or efficient crew. Sometimes a lower hourly rate isn't necessarily a lower total moving cost. Still, the guys were genuinely kind, took good care of my belongings and got everything safely from one apartment to the other. I especially appreciated them powering through a brutally hot Austin moving day. If half stars were an option, I'd probably land at 3.5. I'm rounding up to four because I really liked the crew and appreciated the care they took with my things, but the hour-late start, communication/organization issues and the overall pace would make me hesitant to book again.
