I would give this place and company 0 stars if I could i am not lying when i say that this is the worst customer experience i have ever had with any company. We requested to shut down our unit back in October. They did not inform us the unit did not shut down due to there being a lock on the unit. Then, they up-ed our charge by $30 a month no informing, and we just found out about it this week. They then started saying "well due to there being a lock on the unit (their lock by the way) they did not de-activate the unit" wow. wouldve been good to know! i finally got the unit cancelled, $2,000 lost for this stupid reason and now they are refusing to refund me for this month. Paid another over $200 to be here for this month, only 8 days in and they are refusing a refund for that as well. DO NOT RENT A SPACE HERE. They are shady, sneaky, and will do anything to take your money and not tell you the full story. Take your money and go someplace better like cubesmart. We are out now over $2000 because of them being informative. Instead of fixing their mistake they just went "oh well no refunds". Do not waste your time, do not let them swindle you out of your money. read more

I've been renting here for the past year. I moved out of Austin and joined active duty Army, and had stored my belongings here. I haven't been to my unit in a year and came back to get some items. Somehow, some way, (I've seen this on reviews of other extra storage facilities around the area) someone managed to break into my unit without breaking the lock. It could have been that they climbed over the internal grating inside the unit (see pictures), but there are no signs of forced entry. I believe they somehow opened the door, and then carefully went through my boxes and found my collection. They stole a coin collection given to me a kid by my father; I don't care to say how much it was worth, but trust me, it was quite a lot and the most expensive thing I owned. Despite the facility being nice (although it's getting too expensive to rent here at $210 a month), I would not trust this place. I pray that the insurance will cover some of it. My music equipment has also gone missing. I strongly urge anybody that is going to be storing items here to TAKE PHOTOS OF ALL YOUR ITEMS and also try to have any receipts to show what you actually own! I'll update how this all turns out. read more

Clean facility, easy to access. Some spaces are awkward due to shape of the unit. I rejected a narrow, deep unit. The sign-up web rate is generally a good deal. Then the price goes up over time, almost doubled in price. So beware. Moved out on Jan.2. The office was closed Jan.1 for holidays and always closed Sundays. I called several times the Saturday I vacated and again today (Monday) with no answer, left voicemails. Waiting to hear back so I can request prorated refund. Corporate/website confirms they received & verified the move out on Saturday but do not handle billing. read more

I had to rent a small space for my furniture for a couple months when I was buying/selling a house. This place is easy to access, has a loading dock and carts available if you have a truck with stuff, is very secure, and well-lit. Additionally, the level of customer care here is top notch. Every employee I dealt with made great effort to make sure I was completely satisfied with how things went, and they even cut me a break by not charging me when my move-out date coincided with the same day I owed rent for the next month, all without me even asking. I don't anticipate needing storage space again for quite some time, but my experience here makes it an easy choice if I do need it again. read more

This isn't really my story to tell, but, hey, it wasn't all my stuff in storage either, but when stuff needs to be moved and reviews need to be written, somebody's got to do it, amiright? Without getting into the boring details of aging parents, multiple real estate transactions and excess Ebay inventory, I'll just say that over the past 2 years, my sister and I have come to think of Extra Space Storage as our second home. (And the awesome guys at Aloha Moving our adopted sons, but that's another review for another day.) Our time at Extra Space Storage began with our renting a large first floor unit to serve as a temporary home to the bulk of our worldly possessions. If our stuff could talk, I imagine it would say that the year it spent at Extra Space Storage was the best year of its entire inanimate shelf-life. Hanging out in that spacious first floor suite, all safe and secure, basking in the comfort of a controlled climate, our stuff had never had it so good. Except for the occasional interruption by my sister or me climbing over furniture, rooting around in boxes in search of a fondue pot or a backgammon set, (items we so urgently needed now that they were packed and buried beneath a mountain of equally useless things), the accommodations at Extra Space Storage was like a spa vacation for our stuff. Meanwhile, at another, less desirable storage facility nearby, we were storing more junk, or as we referred to it in more optimistic times, inventory for the family Ebay business. When the contract for this unit came up for renewal, we didn't hesitate for a second before deciding to move our Ebay stuff up in the world to a cozy third floor unit with a view at Extra Space Storage. There is more to this storage business than just providing a comfy and secure home away from home for one's stuff. What makes Extra Space Storage stand out is that they appear to care even more about people than they do stuff. On more than one occasion, for example, one of the office staff called to let us know that we forgot to secure the lock on one of our units. They knew this because they regularly check each unit, on each floor to make sure all is well. On the last day of our patronage with Extra Space Storage, the office manager did something so remarkable it served to solidify our unwavering loyalty and devotion. It was this one simple act of honesty and integrity that turned us into raving fans. Of a storage facility no less! Here's what happened. At the end of a whirlwind bout of moving activity, as we loaded up the car with the last of our storage unit contents before driving off into the sunset, my sister accidentally dropped a wad of cash in the Extra Space Storage parking lot. Shortly after that, the office manager was outside helping another customer when she spotted the money on the ground. She could have kept it and no one would have been the wiser. But, instead, she checked her records to see who had recently entered the building, called the most recent one, my sister, and asked if she had lost the money. My sister was ecstatic to say the least, but not so much about getting her money back. She was overjoyed, as was I, by the realization that there are good people in the world and every once in a while, you get the opportunity to do business with them. read more

If you love your Stuff, let me be a bit more descriptive: If you are INSANELY in LOVE with your Stuff (want to marry it) and would feel deep emotional pain if anything happened to it, but have no room for it at your home (because it's 800 sq ft and filled with Stuff you are married too) then take it to Extra Space Storage. The indoor units are clean, well maintained and always kept cool. The staff is excellent and consistent. No turnaround here. Security is tight and if you don't feel like this is a huge panic room for your Stuff then you need more psychotherapy than I do. I never had to worry about my Stuff when it was stored at Extra Space and that felt fantastic. You sleep well at night knowing your Stuff is all tucked in and happy in it's lil climate controlled unit. My only complaint was it is pricey, especially when you want to store for a few years while you save to add on to your abode. They increase rates every 6-12 months and you get no customer appreciation savings, no specials, no breaks, nada. Maybe I just have too much Stuff and should break up with some of it (that's another story). I wish you could lock into a rate for the duration. I would have loved a contract opportunity. Another con: They only have two carts and one elevator.... knowing how to share and perfect timing, essential. Still, the service and facility is A-1 and that is thanks to Andrea. If you live in the Brentwood/Crestview/Allandale area, well, it's like a big giant closet less than five minutes away. Almost have to weigh the rates against the costs involved with adding on and how the extra square footage could mess up your tax rate. I digress. Despite the rates, I would still recommend this place to those who have collectibles, antiques and vintage Stuff and would like to store long term. This place gives you no headaches. read more

RATING = Negative 100 Horrible facility My daughter rented a small unit at the end of February 2018. She filled it with her belongings and didn't return until Sunday July 15, 2018. EVERYTHING in the unit was covered with rat feces and urine, and almost every box had been chewed on, even plastic tubs, cleaning supplies, plastic bottles, vhs tapes, and wooden dressers. Almost everything is a total loss. The website says they treat for pest and rodents monthly but obviously not. The insurance they REQUIRE is a joke too. I would NEVER recommend this facility, especially not the one off off Slaughter Lane. read more

This place is clean and well-maintained, etc, but it is *outrageously expensive* compared to most other facilities, and I've seen five price increases since we rented our locker 3 years ago. I can't pay half what many people pay in rent for an actual apartment, just to store some furniture. We'll be moving to another facility. read more

I rented a unit here for close to a year, and it was the best storage facility experience I have ever had. The building is clean, functioning, climate-controlled and safe - I never worried at any point that the safety of my belongings or myself were ever in jeopardy. Moving my belongings into or out of the unit was simple and hassle-free. The complementary dollies were much appreciated - I had a washer and dryer that had to be stored. Not to mention, I had boxes upon boxes of books. The staff that is employed at this location is simply amazing. They were so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I never had to ask any questions - they were thorough and full of helpful information. Not only that, but they were so friendly and nice!! I will say it is a bit pricey to store your belongings here - I was paying a little over $100....but my belongings were pest-free, safe, and in a climate-controlled building. I never once worried about the state or safety of my belongings while they were here. I would definitely recommend going to this specific storage facility - ExtraSpace is a great storage facility, but the staff here makes it an even better experience. I would have given it 5 stars...but I'm knocking one off, because of the prices. read more

I've been at this storage facility (the facility at 12408 Harris Branch Parkway) for about 7 years. The previous owner was GREAT. Since Extra Space bought the facility about 3 years ago, I've come to expect subpar service, price increases every 3-6 months (no joke-or exaggeration) They provide absolutely no services such as electrical hook-ups, dump station, water fill station....as a fact, if you want to come and go outside of their normal business hours, IT WILL COST YOU EXTRA. I've had diesel siphoned out of my tanks, and other renters parking so close I can't even open and close my entry door to my RV. I'm on three other facilities waiting list and can't wait for the day to get OUT OF THIS PLACE. If you have a nice RV that you value, GO somewhere else !! read more

TIme to update my review. Extra Space Storage is still a good place for storage needs. The place is well maintained and is always neat and feels safe and secure. The rates are a little too high for the size of the unit, but that is offset by the extremely professional and friendly manager at this location, Michael Loera. Michael is an excellent ambassador for this brand and this company. He is welcoming, friendly, knowledgable and goes out of his way to be helpful. I am always amazed that he knows all of his customers by name. Outstanding! read more

Let's face it, no one likes go move. We like even less the fact that sometimes we have to store our possessions. So, it's not like I was excited to come here and pay to store some of my things. I called a few places, mind you it was a rainy overcast Labor Day and I discovered last minute I would need a storage unit, and this place seemed the most reasonably priced place. Upon going over to rent the unit I had the pleasure of meeting Summer, who was not only kind and efficient at her job, she was extremely helpful in answering all my questions and made the process so fast and easy. The storage space is clean and well lit. They provide dollies for you to use and there is quick and easy elevator access. But overall my experience was pleasant because of Summer's awesome attitude and that's why I will continually recommend this place to others. She made an unpleasant experience (moving) so much better and brightened my day! read more

The manager (Nick) was extremely helpful in helping me get set up with a storage unit. I moved to Austin from San Antonio over the holidays and needed a place on short notice to store some furniture. From the moment when I spoke to Nick over the phone to meeting him in person, he was ready to assist me with any questions that I had. He took the time to show me around the property, walk me to my unit, and provide me with all of the information that I needed to know. Upon moving my furniture into the unit, I had an issue with the system not recognizing my access code, so Nick resolved the issue right away within seconds. He was very upfront and honest in providing me with the monthly rates (no hidden fees/gimmicks). I would highly recommend Extra Space Storage to anyone who is looking to do good business. The property is very clean and all of the staff members that I encountered were extremely professional.
