I believe the bartender's name was Joe; they were extremely welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu, and helped my friend and I choose food and drinks that suited our palates best ! We were disappointed with our dinner tonight. Our waitress was REALLY friendly and helpful. But overall, the service is very hectic and it seems like the staff doesn't know what they're doing. When they started to bring dishes out to our table, they didn't even know what the name of the dish was! Lol. That was kind of weird, because it took us a minute or two to sort through which dish belong to which friend. But the recipes and preparation were not so great. One of the highlights was the mozzarella stick appetizer. It was huge and the red sauce is really delicious! But the minestrone soup was really disappointing. because you really can't even taste the vegetables. It was just like sauce with little pasta pieces. The meatball appetizer was actually COLD, and we sent it back, but it took them 15 minutes to bring us a new one (it finally came out when the rest of us were done with our meal). The Bolognese entrée was definitely a highlight! It was really delicious and well prepared. But the shrimp scampi was a big disappointment. It was literally cold. There was way too much sauce, it was almost soupy. The shrimp are tiny, and it's not like they are fresh at all. And you can't even taste the garlic. It just all tasted like cream sauce. Nothing close to a true scampi. If you go, definitely stick to ONLY the red sauce, because that is what they do well. And when your food comes immediately, check the temperature! I was influenced to give Rosso a try, and I'm glad we did. It's tucked away in a Trader Joe's shopping center, so it's pretty unassuming from the outside. The sauce is absolutely lights out, and the chicken parm portion is enormous, easily enough to share. We also ordered the linguine alla vignole, and it was excellent. Would we make the drive again? It's a hard maybe since it's a bit of a haul for us. But if you live nearby, it's definitely worth trying. We've been looking forward to trying Rosso ever since hearing about it, and as someone who is always searching for great Italian food, it quickly became a must-visit. I grew up with a Sicilian grandmother, and from the moment we sat down, Rosso reminded me of the Sunday dinners I enjoyed growing up. The interior is dimly lit, warm, and inviting. There's also a patio, but we chose to sit inside and soak in the atmosphere. After being seated, nobody came to our table for about ten minutes. As it turned out, the very kind and engaging owner ended up serving us himself for the entire evening. We loved hearing the inspiration behind the restaurant and stories about his mother and grandmother. The conversation immediately made us feel right at home. We started with the Mozzarella Stick, which is absolutely massive and served over their signature red sauce. That sauce is the star of the show, comforting, nostalgic, and packed with flavor. The owner shared that he sources many of his ingredients locally, including the tomatoes, and it truly shows. Next came the meatball, which has just enough sausage mixed in to make it incredibly tender and flavorful. Honestly, I could make an entire meal out of a bowl of these meatballs. Once again, that outstanding red sauce stole the spotlight. The only thing I wished for was some Italian bread to help soak up every last drop. For our entrée, we ordered the Chicken Alla Vodka. After falling in love with the red sauce, I didn't think things could get much better, but the vodka sauce was outstanding. The cold burrata slowly melts into the sauce as you eat, adding an extra layer of richness and creaminess. The dish comes with two large, perfectly cooked chicken cutlets and a side of homemade pasta. The portions here are huge and very fairly priced. When you eat like a true Italian family, meals are meant to be shared, enjoyed, and lingered over, and Rosso embraces that philosophy. The entire restaurant feels family-oriented, and I really appreciate that. The owner made us feel even more like family when he surprised us with a slice of olive oil cake topped with fresh cream. We were already stuffed from the feast, but one look at that cake and we gladly made room. It was the perfect ending to an exceptional meal. I can't recommend Rosso highly enough. Their early success is well deserved, and I hope it continues for many years to come. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the owner's hospitality is something special. The place was pretty much bomb. No complaints, no crazy frills just good old-fashioned Italian food. Everything we got was great. Came with a small group, we got the giant mozzarella stick, the clam bake, the meatball as appetizers. Chicken Parm, manicotti, and black spaghetti with lobster and a salad for dinner. And you know we had to try the tiramisu and olive oil cake. Service was solid, timing was really good from the kitchen. The atmosphere is great nothing but good things to say. It's not gonna blow you away, but it's exactly what you want when you want grandma's Italian. Popped in here on a Sunday evening for dinner with our kids (without reservations) and they were kind enough to accommodate us. They make their own pasta and you can tell- the texture was perfect and had lots of flavor. Tomato sauce was light and intensely tomato flavored (in a nice way). Portions are very large. Our 4 and 8 year olds got the spaghetti with meatball from the kids menu and it yielded lunch leftovers the next day (with more to spare). My husband and I split the fettuccine Alfredo and chicken parm (also huge). The chicken parm was fine (would've loved to see them make their own breading- it tasted a bit processed) but the fettuccini Alfredo was the real standout. The Alfredo was rich without being cloying and it was just a well done classic dish. Service was unfussy and pleasant. Will definitely come back for a cocktail and date night/dinner at the bar. read more

Just discovered this gem, and it was fabulous! I love the decor - stone and warm wood, great music (Sinatra etc), and probably the tastiest meatball I've had in ages. But the real standout was the service! Joe, the bartender, is the absolute best! Super nice and extremely efficient. That, coupled with meeting the very kind owner, made for a memorable experience. We look forward to returning and checking out the speakeasy at the other end of the restaurant. It has a really fun theme and looks like a very cool little hideaway. This place is great! Food, service, value can't be beat. Don't sleep on this one. The rosso-tini is excellent and comes with a side car that is basically another entire Martini. We had the calamari, Caesar salad, chicken parm, chicken francese with sides of lumache pasta. All delicious! The red sauce is not to be missed and the homemade pasta is chef's kiss! For dessert we had the lemon olive oil cake with homemade whipped cream. Yum. We both couldn't decide what to get and will be back to try more dishes. read more

I was contacted by Scott, the GM at Rosso, after our last visit. He apologized for the experience we had and invited us to come back and give it another shot, promising to personally handle everything. We did so tonight, and it was an all around fantastic experience. The calamari was some of the best I've had. Fresh, crispy, and not at all greasy. I enjoyed my negroni very much, and we all enjoyed our entrees, and especially the house made pastas. Service was attentive and the staff worked together to make sure that food and drinks were delivered quickly. We had an absolutely fabulous meal here! The vibe, service, food, and cocktails were top notch. We started with the meatball, mozarella stick, and garlic bread. The moz stick was insane! Definitely beats out chili's! For our mains, we shared the chicken alla vodka, chicken parm, bolognese, and lumachete alla vodka. The vodka sauce was inane, and I'm going to be dreaming about the chicken alla vodka with the lumachete for a long time. The portions are generous and value is on point. I would come back for the drinks and dessert. The pasta, however was undercooked or "al dente". We got the spaghetti and we had sent it back to be cooked longer so it was softer but they brought out the exact same pasta. If you're going to cook ALL your pasta dishes that way, please note it on the menu. The alfredo sauce was phenomenal but once again, Al dente. Not everyone likes that so please note it. The service was typical. The tiramisu was great! Also they were out of the cheese stick log, the ONLY reason we came so that was a huge bummer. Drinks are phenomenal. read more

Tried out this new Italian restaurant recently, and tl;dr it's worth checking out! Rosso is a very welcome replacement for Alici, an oyster bar I was not much of a fan of. If you're a fan of Italian food, you'll want to check this place out. Food 4/5: You may have seen their longgg mozzarella stick on IG, and trust, it it's worth it! Long, hard, and stayed crispy until lunchtime the next day. Great for sharing with a few friends. The fried calamari app was great, too, as was the sizable mussel/clam dish in a tasty broth that I dipped my bread into far too often. Other entrees were generous portions, tasted delicious, and had a quality above what I expected. The only weak point was a pasta dish we received. It was undercooked compared to my experience with al dente, but maybe I'm wrong or it's forgivable in the restaurant's first week being open. I shy away from sweets, but they do push around a cute dessert cart. Drinks: We didn't have any on our visit, but there were some interesting options on the cocktail menu. Service 4/5: In reality the service was a bit slow at times, so my rating is generous to a busy restaurant in its first week of being open. All staff were helpful and courteous. Get a reservation at a non-peak time and you'll likely avoid any growing pains. Value 5/5: The prices are extremely reasonable for the service and quality. You can easily be under $50pp without drinks, or order everything you want and take home lunch for a few days. Valet is complimentary (please tip), and cocktails are a reasonable $15. Ambiance is great and wait staff was solid. I got the chicken parm and will say it was very good, but that's where it ended. My daughter got the spaghetti and meatball and could only eat a couple of bites. The dish was literally swimming in red sauce to the point one could not see the pasta. I'm all for a lot of sauce, but come on now. I got a side of spaghetti and maybe it was an off night, but both dishes of pasta were inedible. The pasta was basically paste due to being way over cooked. I'm not being a snob here, it was literally inedible. Such a disappointment as I wanted to love this place since I live in the neighborhood. I won't be returning. If you run an Italian restaurant, being able to cook pasta is a must. read more
