The grilled octopus was missing the octopus...we kept looking but couldn't find anything other than beans. The fried shrimp and calamari was done well. Main courses were hit and miss! Papradele with lamb ragu was tasty ,carbonara had no taste at all. Our companions had the veal piccata and a the seafood over pasta was acceptable. I loved going to the Baraonda when it was in Midtown, though I'm not sure if this location is the exact one, perhaps just a similar name or maybe they moved to Sandy Springs. Needless to say, we enjoyed our experience here for dinner. Husband and I came to celebrate my birthday - he was a bit upset they didn't offer anything for my birthday even though he notated it on the reservation, but I didn't really care for it as I don't like having the attention on me. This place is hard to miss as it's right on Roswell Rd. There is complimentary valet parking available, but there's also free parking at a deck just a few steps away from the restaurant entrance. We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we walked in and the restaurant was already very busy for a Saturday 6 pm dinner. Our server was fine, and the food was decent. I opted for the blackberry fiz mocktail, which was super sweet at first, but with a good mix, it was super refreshing. For starters, we shared the eggplant balls (a must get here!) and the bread service. The eggplant balls were definitely shareable and were probably our favorite thing we ate. The bread service you could probably skip - we wish it was served with vinegar instead of just oil and an olive tapenade. For entrees, I ordered one of the dinner specials, grilled branzino served with broccolini and potatoes. My husband ordered the ravioli. I really enjoyed the branzino, it was tender and the skin was cooked crispy. I loved that the broccolini was charred enough, but wish the potatoes were cooked a bit more. The capers added the needed saltiness to the dish, though I wish this was served with lemon or something to balance out the flavors. My wife and daughter and I were here on a Saturday night celebrating my daughters birthday . The server was pretty good and attentive. We had water and drinks first and were waiting on my son who was a no show. So we had the meatballs for an appetizer which was nice. My wife had the lasagna which was very good. Fridays are for comfort food! Baraonda brought all the vibes and gave me just what I needed. From the playlist to the amazing service, everything was top tier! Found this place on Google Maps while searching for Italian food in Sandy Springs. Parking was limited in the Bank of America parking lot, but they do have valet. I went to dinner with my 2yo and the host was kind enough to find her a chair that she wouldn't fall out of for at 2 seater table. Another staff member even brought something out for her to sit on top of so she could reach the table. The decor is grown and sexy! Definitely a great date night option or even solo dining at the bar! I had 2 great cocktails - Alpino and spiced pear martini - both very delicious! My daughter is picky and only eats buttered pasta. They ran out of penne pasta and she ended up with pappardelle. The fritto was great! Well seasoned and the marinara sauce was delicious too. My 2yo ate it without knowing what it was and loved it. I had been to a Baraonda in Atlanta's Midtown area some 5 to 10 years ago and, upon looking for it, found a restaurant with the same name in Sandy Springs, right above the Roswell Rd. exit of the Perimeter (I-285). That didn't bother me at all, given that I was staying on the north side and OTP. With such a unique name, I'm thinking the two are or were linked in some manner. I had a good opinion of the one in Midtown, just a block or so from the famed Fox Theater. I remember having an excellent plate of pasta and spinach at that location. At this location in a corporate northern suburb, they are open for lunch here during the weekdays. In looking at pasta dishes and lasagna, I decided on the lasagna. I also ordered a side of asparagus. This "new" Baraonda is at the base of a mid-rise office or condo building and there is some off-street parking. Inside, it is minimalistic and modern, but not all the way over to elegant, which means it was still appealing. Being on the ground level, it has floor-to-ceiling windows all around, which I never object to because I like to eat with a lot of natural light if possible. As the food was being brought to the table, I saw "the casserole." I almost cringe when I see any Italian pasta dish presented in a casserole in North America because it often says "owned and/or cooked by foreigners who cut their teeth at Italian restaurants" and not always the best tasting. There was nothing like that to worry about here. The lasagna's flavors and pliability were very good ... what they might describe as "sottile" in Italian. It was very tasty. The side of asparagus was also excellent. I remember that the service was to my liking. For lunch, the price was acceptable. Keep in mind that Baraonda borders on, or is, fine cuisine, but is open for lunch during the week. In this way, it reminds me of Old Lisbon in Miami which is fine Portuguese cuisine but offers lunch, although it can be fairly expensive at other times. I'm glad that Baraonda is around, though I no longer live in this area that used to be my stomping grounds in my mid- to late-20s and which was surprisingly cosmopolitan then to this Angeleno, with it being even more so today. The food was very satisfying, the locale is appealing, and the service was a good blend of polished and informal. I recommend it. read more

We used to visit Baraonda when it was near the Fox, so we were excited to see it reopen much closer to home. Happy to report it's even better than we remembered. We kicked things off with the bread service (I have a carb problem--truly) and the tri-colore pizza. The pizza was fantastic and worked perfectly as a shared appetizer. For mains, we ordered the halibut special, linguine and clams, and the pappardelle with lamb ragu. The halibut was the standout for me, absolutely loved it. The other two dishes were very good as well, though the lamb ragu could've used a bit more tomato flavor. Overall, a really solid meal and a great value. We'll definitely be back! read more

Message sent to restaurant sums up my review: Hello, I debated sending this, but ultimately decided to share our recent experience at your restaurant because as a manager or owner I would want to know about this evening and how it felt to be a new customer to my restaurant. This was Sunday, June 21 (Father's Day). Our family of 3 had a 7:15pm reservation for dinner that night. We arrived early, so I dropped my parents at the door and went to hunt for parking. First thing I would note is that you should move your parking sign out closer to the lot so people can see they can get extra time. Myself and another woman both had issues with parking and didn't know (until we walked to the restaurant entry door after parking) that we didn't have to pay and could extend time. Upon entering restaurant I found my older parents still standing and was informed that you all were working on a table for us. 15 minutes later we were still waiting. We were told the 2 tables along the back booth were being held for another bigger party and the table we were told get would be leaving soon. Upon finally being seated a waitress came and asked our water preference poured water and left. I tried to catch her as we knew our order since we had been looking at the menu for 15 minutes up front. She never returned. We tried to flag down another staff member, but everyone (including I guess the manager gentleman in a white shirt that night) were on the move. We sat another 15 minutes. At close to 7:50pm my Dad, remember it's Father's Day, asked if they would even bring us bread to go with the water. I felt awful and asked if they would like to leave to go get dinner elsewhere. We got up and walked out and the gentleman in the white shirt (who was carrying food to another table) asked why we were leaving. I simply said, we have been here over 30 minutes after having a reservation and I need to get my Dad dinner--it's Father's Day. I' noted as we walked out that the 2 tables along the banquet were still empty. Areas for improvement: 1. Seat your reservations in a timely manner. We were there early. I understand that you had a larger party coming, but you seat those there. 2. Hire staff or schedule staff appropriately. From what I could tell you were understaffed by at least 1 server and a busboy. 3. Make it right. Honestly, when we were sat after waiting at the front for over 15 min I would have sent bread service or a comp app over to start the meal on the right foot. We got water and a disappearing waitress. 4. If you are going to make people wait at the front (another couple came in after us and was standing too) add some seats where they can sit. We checked out this Italian restaurant for a Thursday date night after seeing their instagram post on "Pastatini" Thursday deal -- $25 for a martini AND pasta dish (select menu). Our waiter recommended their fritto calamari dish as "the best calamari" he had ever had. My partner and I both enjoyed this -- lightly breaded and crispy, flavorful, and with shrimp, tiny octopi and calamari rings, and with dehydrated preserved lemons also lightly fried! Very tasty, mixed opinion on whether it was the best one we'd ever had -- I'd go with YES. We both chose an extra dirty martini from the list of curated cocktails for the Thursday deal, made with Tito's vodka (option for gin) and perfectly filthy with an icy top and two yummy olives -- so good. For the entrees, my partner got the spicy Linguine arrabiatta with shrimp (not spicy, had a good tomato savory flavor with shrimp that were well cooked) and I got the Gigli vodka (vodka cream sauce, broccolini, toasted bread crumbs) -- sadly a bit bland but was creamy and a comfort food, made better with salt + red pepper flakes. I'd probably try a different dish next time. We tried two additional cocktails -- their pistachio martini (I didn't get the pistachio flavor, would have liked it to be a bit more flavorful) and a new cocktail on their list with Lambrusco, chocolate liquor, raspberry and pineapple flavors -- so unique, flavorful, and with a nice bite from the sparkling wine. We finished off our dinner with their lemon blueberry cheesecake, which was yummy, light, appropriately small portion, with a nice blueberry sauce on the side. While the entrees we got were so-so, we really enjoyed our cocktails, the appetizer and the dessert so I'd love to go back for a girls night! We came for Valentines Day. My husband made reservations, not sure the details but we arrived a few moments before 6p. Our table wasn't quite ready so we waited for maybe 10 minutes. We were seated and our waiter came over to ask about water. We chose the Eggplant Balls for our appetizer, they came out quickly but were room temperature. They tasted, just ok. Nothing special. We ordered our main entrees: Pork chop Parmesan with arugula salad and potato fries also the Salmon on a bed of I'm not sure.. I'm just gonna say maybe it was an OFF night bc the food was terrible and the pork chops tasted like fried rubber, no flair or flavor. We are both on a 'no alcohol month' so we decided to try the Mule Mocktail, it was absolutely delicious. Very refreshing and tasty. Then we ordered dessert bc you can't mess that up, right?!? WRONG! We got the Blueberry Cheesecake and the Flourless Chocolate Cake & Ice cream, the cheesecake tasted like it came straight out of the freezer and cardboard box and the chocolate cake.. let's just say the ice cream didn't melt easily, which was another story. Went for the first time a few weeks ago. Everything we had was amazing! We had a a party of 8 and no one was disappointed. My favorite stater was the pizza with the mushrooms (FUNGHI ) and of course the bread and oil. For my entree I had the PAGLIA E FIENO and I cleaned my bowl! Went here with a work group of six, with a 5:30 reservation on a week night. We got sat in the bar area and was served by the bartender. She had just a couple of tables and was pretty slow to get started. Calamari - forgettable, skip - they certainly did, as I had to remind them we ordered this after we got the other appetizers. Came out 15 minutes later Olives, bread - fine. Good olives Some crostini topped with mushrooms - probably the best thing we ate, but not enough to share across 6 and presented as two big slices. Would have been nice to know. Seated at 5:30, appetizer order went in at 5:50, everything was out by 6:30. She took our mains at 6:20 - I ordered the tagliatelle with lamb ragu, and a separate to go order of the salmon with some type of pearled couscous for my wife. I also noted I had to leave by 7:30, so would need the salmon ready by then. At 7:25, the mains finally came, without the salmon. I had to throw the pasta in a box and immediately head home. I'm not criticizing the time constraint on my behalf, but I don't see what world it takes more than an hour when the most complicated dish at the table was a piece of fried veal. On top of it, there was just zero communication about this other than an upsell on more wine like clockwork every 15 minutes. I had to leave without that salmon, so my wife and I shared the pasta at home. The lamb tag was shredded but chunky, and was pretty tasteless. The pasta was cooked just fine. This was a very one note dish. On my way sprinting out, I could see an empty restaurant save for two large tables of 8+. The kitchen was struggling to keep up, and no tables had food beyond a bread basket and some olives. Pretty disappointed, given the hype. Two stars for the ambience, it was a nicely laid out place. The fact that parking was getting a separate code and scanning something on your way in at the desk was highly annoying, but they handled it efficiently and it's not their fault. We went tonight wanting lasagna and learned it's only offered at lunch on weekdays. Sad. We ordered the spaghetti and the pork chops. The food was not bad- just unremarkable. This used to be our go-to spot for a casual but delicious meal. We were told the menus changed because it was too expensive to keep certain things on it. I get that- things are tough all over.
