I had driven around for about an hour and a half in Buckhead because I wanted Italian for dinner. But if you know how Buckhead is, the parking in these places can be very annoying. So I happened upon Valenza, and decided to pop in . This review originally was going to express how I felt about one bartender and how unfriendly she was. But because the service I received from Rebecca was impeccable I decided to omit the aforementioned. Rebecca was very engaging. She informed me of things on the menu and offered suggestions and was patient while I made my decision. Before you know it I was eating the rosemary focaccia and drinking a great Montepulciano. I ordered the Capellini and added shrimp. It was seasoned well. A nice portion size that I had for leftovers. Next thing you know...Rebecca had me eating dessert!! It was a great experience. A great time. The only pic I got was of dessert. 10/10 for me.

Bring your flash lights. the place is so dark. I understand its part of the aesthetic but walking to the bathroom I almost ran into ppl. I had the BISTECCA dish.. its wagyu steak strips.. why did I eat chunks of salt then? The meat was very chewy however cooked to how I asked. The sauce was very very salty then they sprinkle MORE sea salt at the end you spend money on wagyu bc you expect to eat quality cooked meat. My friend got the same dish and it was equally as salty so it seems like that's how they make it.. the tiramisu was really good.

My boyfriend and I have been to Valenza several times, which is why I found it surprising that I apparently had yet to write a Yelp review. I tried to upload as many pictures as I could from our dinners here, but Yelp only allows 10. Appetizers We have tried: -fritto misto (calamari, ga. red shrimp, cod, lemon, capers) -cozze (mussels, roasted garlic, fennel, sambuca, tomatoes, white wine, ciabatta) -bietole arrosto (roasted beets, buratta, fennel, mercier apples, arugula, radish, lemon) -pane (our rosemary foccacia and rustic sourdough, whipped ricotta) -polpo (grilled mediterranean octopus, panelle, castelvetrano olives, chickpea, pine nuts, aleppo) -meatballs Looking at my list, I'm impressed with us that we've had so many different appetizers! I remember on our very first evening at Valenza, our waiter brought us complimentary meatballs which were exquisite. If I remember correctly, they may have come from Vero Pizzeria, their sister restaurant. That was very kind of him, and it was very appreciated. You honestly can't go wrong with any of these appetizers... they are all incredible. Entrées We have tried: -capellini (fresh heirloom tomato, basil, parmesan) -linguine nero (squid ink pasta, ruby red shrimp, 'nduja, green onion, tomato, white wine) -salmone (grilled steelhead salmon, umbria lentils, swiss chard, cauliflower) -special: scallops Both pastas are yummy. The capellini is very light. There isn't a ton of flavor here, but the fresh basil made the dish. The linguine nero has a lot more going on than the capellini. It's fresh and flavorful, and visually stunning. Beware, your unmentionables may turn black in the following days after consuming it, as your body digests it. Do not be alarmed. It's just the squid ink. This will go away! I say this because we panicked when it first happened to us. The salmon dish is just as tasty as it is beautiful. The scallop dish I had last year was amazing. It was a special, and I hope that one day it can make it to the permanent menu. Until then, I have but memories... Dessert We have tried: -ricotta cheesecake with salted pine nut caramel -crostata Be sure to save room for dessert. The first dessert we ever got here was a peach crostata. They must change their crostata seasonally because the last time we were here, it is: ga apples, blackberries, balsamic, vanilla gelato. Both crostatas were divine. I can't pick between them, but I'd confidently choose whatever crostata they have as my favorite of their desserts because I know it will be good. My boyfriend loved the ricotta cheesecake, which was also delicious. Of course we will continue to be recurring customers. The ambiance is comfortably elegant. It feels upscale but not stuffy. The service is great--we always have friendly and helpful servers. Next time (because God willing, of course there will be a next time), I would like to try the ravioli because I've heard great things.

10/10 for a cozy girls dinner! This is a great spot to enjoy with your girls or a cute date night. The pasta was some of the best I've had in Atlanta in a while!

As always, the food was great. Tonight, we sat in the enclosed patio. It was very comfortable. The staff was great. We had the Spaghettini, squid ink pasta, and sautéed mushrooms. All were great.

We had a dinner reservation for a party of 2 at 7:30 on Tuesday, 7/19/2022. I parked on the street for free, or you can also valet. The inside is dimly lit. They have white tablecloths, which elevates the experience. My friend and I split an antipasti and two primis. Here's what we got: - Panzanella ($17): This was amazing. Loved the burrata. However, it said there were peaches and we literally only got one little slice of peach... - Agnolotti ($28): This was good, but didn't have as much flavor as I expected it to. I wouldn't get this again. - Ravioli ($21): Deeeelicious. Would 100% get this again. Good service and good food! I recommend!

Solid food and friendly servers. Classy ambiance for a nice date or work dinner. Octopus dish was very good and well cooked. Not stringy at all.

What an amazing Annual Worth Day celebration & dining experience for my Sister, who loves authentic Italian Food & came into town from Arizona. Let's start with the reservation. I had to make a couple of changes & each time Haley, accommodated me with a positive vibe both over the phone & in person. Same effort when we needed to change tables from the back by the kitchen to the front, upper platform. Mary was our sensational Server. From her first visit to our table, she spoke to us both individually & collectively, learned our preferences for drinks, appetizers & entrees & in turn offered her personal recommendations all with a smile. With a table of six covered in face masks & trying to place our orders, Mary was a Gem in getting us squared away & without skipping a beat. All of her suggestions relatively close to everyone's preference was a success. More so, after I stated that I was a Vegan & before I could mention my allergens, she informed me that she would let the Executive Chef know & to ensure my order would be prepared separately. Our table spread consisted of the "Melon" inspired Salads (from the special menu), Fritto Misto - a twist on Calamari that includes Shrimp & Cod (two orders), Ravioli (three people ordered & was delighted) Pollo al Mattone (could have done without the Salsa Verde), the Lumache Nero (the Squid was overpowering) & my special Vegan Pasta tossed in Olive Oil, Garlic, Lemon, Tomatoes amongst some Veggies. In summation, the overall food was pretty good, yet Mary's "performance" was even better. Her meeting & greeting us, her table approach, quick drink drop as only one person order cocktails while the rest of us enjoyed a few bottles of wine. Depending on the wholesaler the upcharge was about $50 & Mary personally refilled our carafe. Her order taking, appetizer/entree delivery with ensuring everything was correct & everyone was happy, frequently resetting our table to the clear breakdown of the check, made our experience a winning one. My Sister was even blessed with not one, yet two complimentary Birthday Desserts, topping off her special night. Suggestions: *Not have the Bus Boys move so fast as I went to the Unisex Restroom (there's two), came back & my amazing, craft-made Vegan Pasta was picked up & thrown away. That's what happens when you're the last person at the table. *Adjust the thermostat as it was extremely hot which made it slightly uncomfortable at times. *Reposition the tables on the upper platform as the tables are very close to one another, which took some pivoting to get up & sit back down. Overall, Valenza offers a cozy, Italian village cafe amongst an upscale setting, with a Venetian theme throughout the restaurant, especially the Candle Chandeliers. There's a private dining room for 30 people & a patio that is just as inviting. The parking lot is shared with Valenza's sister restaurant, Haven, so parking is a bit tight, but Valet is complimentary - the Valet team was immensely friendly & helpful. Street parking is also available. We all recommend Valenza regardless of the occasion as the dining experience was superb. My Daughter promised to bring me back to sit on the patio to fully enjoy the Vegan Pasta, alfresco style.

However we were given continuous updates on when the table would be ready, they apologized, and they were very understanding. We were greeted by the hostess as soon as we walked in and the restaurant was already very busy for a Saturday 6 pm dinner. Our server was fine, and the food was decent. I opted for the blackberry fiz mocktail, which was super sweet at first, but with a good mix, it was super refreshing. For starters, we shared the eggplant balls (a must get here!) and the bread service. The eggplant balls were definitely shareable and were probably our favorite thing we ate. The bread service you could probably skip - we wish it was served with vinegar instead of just oil and an olive tapenade. For entrees, I ordered one of the dinner specials, grilled branzino served with broccolini and potatoes. My husband ordered the ravioli. I really enjoyed the branzino, it was tender and the skin was cooked crispy. I loved that the broccolini was charred enough, but wish the potatoes were cooked a bit more. The capers added the needed saltiness to the dish, though I wish this was served with lemon or something to balance out the flavors. My husband enjoyed his ravioli but found it too heavy with the cream sauce. We thought this was a decent place for dinner, but nothing really stood out besides the eggplant balls.

Maybe they've grown too big for their britches as we southerners say, but this most recent visit was likely my last. Staff attitudes were terrible, the execution of the food was a joke. My siblings and I had hyped this restaurant up to our mom and thought she would enjoyed being wined and dined. We arrived admittedly about 10 minutes after our reservation time (thanks to the city of Decatur's hostile parking policies), after attempting to call the restaurant and let them know we were circling the building. I say attempting because the number rings straight to an AI voice that doesn't allow you to speak once it asks you a question. I even tried sending messages through the OpenTable app. Either way, the restaurant claims you have a 15 minute grace period. Once we finally walked inside, my sister leaned over and whispered that their posted food inspection score was a low B. We exchanged glances but figured maybe they were inspected on an off day. The host (once she finally stopped avoiding eye contact with us) spontaneously let us know that since we weren't on time, we would be "getting a table in the back by the kitchen". What an odd policy to announce to your patrons that you're going to be punishing them with bad seating. The table was indeed by the kitchen but given how many tables this restaurant has tried to cram into the dining room, none of them are spectacular. I looked around and saw folks at tables bumping into the ones next to them, that's how tightly everyone is seated. Our server was friendly enough, and was able to recommend some good dishes. Word to the wise, while they bring bread to the table, it's one half-slice per person. We learned the hard way (because our server never mentioned it) that asking for more bread (the exact same amount as before mind you) is $7. You could buy a freshly baked loaf for that price. The actual food was fine, not bad but nothing like we've had in the past. It arrived fairly quickly. Where the dinner continued nosediving was when my sister, after seeing that we all had ordered small side dishes of pasta, decided she'd like to order some as well. By small side dish, I mean a fistful in a soup cup. I add that detail because when she asked the server, the server stated it would be AT LEAST a 20 minute wait. We asked her to repeat herself because surely we heard that wrong, right? 20 minutes for spaghetti?! She left for a few minutes, then came back and said her manager confirmed that even if she asked the kitchen to rush it, the soonest would be 18 minutes. You see a pattern here right? This restaurant seems like they relish letting their customers know who's in charge...and here's a hint reader, it's not you. Where the evening actually became appalling was a result of our closeness to the kitchen. They have a sous chef working dining room-adjacent doing the final dish prep before the food is picked up by the runners. I know kitchens usually don't utilize gloves (the whole, hands can be frequently washed but the same pair of gloves will touch multiple surfaces thing). However this gentleman unabashedly practiced some of the worst cross contamination practices I've ever seen. He'd grabbed fistfuls of Parmesan cheese to garnish a plate, then reach in his pocket for his phone. Then he'd arrange leaves of lettuce for salad, then TOUCH HIS HAIR. We watched him on two occasions have, either family friends or familiar patrons, walk up to him excitedly and he'd hug them and shake their hands and pat their shoulders, and once done would immediately grab forks and knives and spoons by their business ends, squeeze lemons, slice bread, fist the cheese container....absolutely disgusting and completely explains the health inspection score. If anything it should have been lower. We were only 5 feet away from the guy and he made eye contact with us several times so it's not like he was embarrassed. A long haired woman came over a few times and did the same as him, though she did put black gloves on once or twice. To top it off, once we received the check was we saw plenty of upcharges and surcharges that our server neglected to tell us she would be adding, so her tip reflected her oversight. To wrap it up, not only is the service and food not worth the price, but this place is actually unhygienic. Unless they change their practices, you're eating here at your own risk. Wish Yelp was like IG and I could @ the health department....
