We had a big party and they were super accomodating which was already a plus for the restaurant. When we got there, they provide complimentary bread and tomato sauce which was delish. We also got some drunks and I opted for the tequila/aperol cocktail which was stunning. The waiter did say it was their most popular and for good reason! We also got some appetizers to start include the fried seafood which was yummy and the cheesy bread which was STUNNING! Imo, skip the pizza and get the cheesy bread. Cannot explain how good it is. Almost ruined my dinner. For my entree, I opted for the eggplant parm after many recs and I do fear its worth. No. 246 is easily one of my favorite Italian restaurants in Atlanta, and I genuinely never have a bad experience here. The food is consistently delicious, and the garlic bread, meatball, and bolognese are my go-to favorites--they never disappoint! My only gripe is that the Thursday night special tends to sell out extremely early. I've missed it more than once, but thankfully the regular menu always saves the day. The restaurant is a tight, intimate space and has become very popular, so I highly recommend arriving as early as possible; especially if you have your heart set on one of the nightly specials. Service is a hit or miss due to the over flow of patrons. I've always had to wait 5-10mins to be seated even if a reservation. Always thought that was odd. My daughters and I have visited this restaurant monthly for years, and it has always been our favorite Italian restaurant in Atlanta. We have spent a significant amount of money here and considered it one of our special places to catch up and spend quality time together. During our Sunday recent visit, we started at the bar with appetizers and drinks. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we decided to stay for dinner and asked for a table. Although we were initially given one, the hostess. She was apparently new. She had a conversation with a server and then returned to tell us that we had to remain at the bar because we started there, and cannot transfer to a table. It was clear that the decision appeared to be based on protecting a server's section and earning potential rather than providing guest service. When I asked for a manager, the situation was not handled appropriately, and it was obvious that servers are in control of this restaurant, not management. Unbeknownst to me after all these years. A restaurant should prioritize its guests--not allow server preferences to dictate the guest experience. After years of loyalty and substantial spending, this experience was unacceptable. We will not be returning, and it is unfortunate that such a long-standing family tradition ended this way. read more

This place was so disappointing. It had been on my bucket list since I moved to Atlanta. We made a reservation for my birthday and showed up right before our time. Our table wasn't ready for another 30 minutes. Okay cool we will wait. Then we get seated and order. The waiter tells us the portions are huge, family sized so we order to share. Nothing was even close to family size very disappointing we left hungry. It took over an hour for our food to come out. We never saw the waiter again. The tables who sat after we ordered got their food before us. It wasn't even like they ordered something quick. No they also got pasta dishes. Then the end of the night nothing for the birthday. My partner was so upset as he specifically choose in the reservation for birthday. Overall I'm just very disappointed in place. Food was absolutely everything someone could want out of Italian food. The cheesy garlic bread was phenomenal, all of the sauces were super rich and had a great depth of flavor, and the tiramisu was a really large and generous slice. Service was great (they even boxed up the leftovers which I feel like no one does anymore) and the space was super cozy and cute. The service was incredible and the carbonara that you can only get on Wednesdays was so delicious and creamy and they mixed everything tableside. Last night I checked out this restaurant it had a beautiful setting and can be perfect for date night, friends, or family. I had a really great waiter, Adam, who was knowledgeable about the menu and gave awesome recommendations. I started off with the breadsticks, which were good, although some were burnt and you could taste it. However, the cheese pull was great and the flavor was still enjoyable I just removed the burnt edges. I had the shrimp scampi with a side of pasta, and it was excellent. My friend had the spicy pasta with pork, and she loved it. The dessert was awesome as well. There's plenty of parking around, and street parking is free after 6 PM. We went here to celebrate our anniversary. It was a Wednesday and packed, so I'm glad we made a reservation. Highly recommend doing that. The hostess greeted us and wished us happy anniversary, as well as our waiter, and they sent over free champagne for us. The food was beyond delicious and intentionally prepared. Why tomato sauce ? I hadn't visited 246 in a few years and ordered my old favorite: black ink spaghetti with shrimp. While it had potential, why add tomato sauce to a dish meant to highlight the contrast between the orange of the shrimp and the black of the pasta? What used to be pretty looked gloppy. The taste of the tomatoes also masked the garlic and EVO. Also, if you are going to charge so much money for melon and prosciutto, serve more than 3 little cubes of melon. Came to an early birthday dinner tonight! We started with the garlic bread! For my entree I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni. For my beverage, I had the beaches of Italy! I loved everything but the drink, wouldn't order that again... I didn't taste any tequila, mainly just taste grapefruit juice. The highlight of the meal was the garlic bread. Even though, one side was burnt, it's so good I let it slide. We had good service and the service even brought me a birthday treat! The tables inside are pretty close together and I think service could have been slightly better, but the food is good! Very crazy how a review can change after 7 months. Dined here tonight and I got something very opposite of good service. We didn't get our bread service until 40 minutes later and asking two different people for it after seeing all the tables around us getting it upon seating. We finished our appetizers and still hadn't received any. We were also never checked up, dirty dishes were never collected, water was never refilled and check was never brought out until we asked. Not sure what changed but the service compared to the last few times I've dined here was different. This was my first time visiting No. 246. I came for a friend's birthday dinner and was thoroughly impressed. Our server was attentive and friendly. The interior is gorgeous and much bigger than expected, although still cozy. I ordered an espresso martini (very good!) and a Hugo spritz (also very good) for drinks. They both came out very quickly. We started with a Caesar Salad & the No. 246 meatball. They were both delicious and the meatball was huge. The server emphasized that everything is shareable and she was not wrong. The Caesar is served with anchovies on top which is yum! For my main course, I ordered the black spaghetti which is very popular apparently, the dish included shrimp. My friend beside me ordered the Chicken Marsala with a side of pasta. My spaghetti was good, a bit spicy although not too much for me. No. 246 is a gem in downtown Decatur. What started as a solo dinner at the bar after a long day turned into a pleasant evening with the attention of the bar staff - particularly Linda! After expressing that I was open to any variety of dishes, in hopes of venturing out from my "usual" of chicken parmigiana, Linda made several very thoughtful recommendations. I enjoyed the light flavors of the Agnolotti pasta, and the richness of the Marsala chicken. I am personally not a huge fan of mushroom taste, but the dish was not mushroom forward at all and the Marsala sauce was perfect. I also tried the cannellini beans after both Linda and her counterparts insisted that it's the most underrated dish on the menu and there were absolutely correct! I could have eaten the beans as my main dish and been perfectly happy. I finished it all off with the tiramisu, which was the perfect balance of sweetness and a very authentic taste about it! Anyone who knows me personally knows that I don't eat leftovers, but I reheated my leftovers on the stove and it was just as great as the night before - making the dishes well worth their value! The restaurant has a very quiet and respectable ambiance. The bar is inviting, while the seating area offers both group or family style dinner tables or more intimate tables tucked away. I have been wanting to go to No. 246 FOREVER. I made a reservation many weeks in advance, as me and my wife wanted to come for Valentine's Day. We came on the 13th, instead of the 14th though because we could order whatever we wanted, where as on the 14th, it was a pre-fixed menu. We weren't sure what we wanted, so we asked our server for some reccs based on the food that we were going to get, and she recommended this one. It was really good! Perfect for the food we got. We started with some bread for the table, and then ordered 2 appetizers. We got the prosciutto and the garlic bread. You MUST/NEED/HAVE to get the garlic bread! It has these chilies in them, and it tastes soooo good. It's so cheesy and garlicy too. Our friends told us ahead of time to make sure we get the garlic bread, and we are so glad we did. We had leftovers to take home, and I'm so glad we did, LOL! The prosciutto was okay, nothing special. It was quite oily and I didn't care for it too much. I wouldn't get it again. For our mains, we got the spicy rigatoni vodka and the orcchiette. Both tasted EXCELLENT. The rigatoni had a real nice bite to it. There was a nice kick to it as well. I personally liked the orcchiette more cause I am a sucker for sausage in pasta. It was a garlic cream based type pasta, so completely different from the rigatoni. It tasted so flavorful, but it didn't feel super heavy (personally.) I would definitely get both of these dishes again. They have quite a few different items on the menu too, so you will definitely find something you like. They have almost 10 different pizzas, quite a few pasta dishes, and also about 10 main course type dishes (seafood/chicken/etc.) My wife told them it was our birthday when I went to the restroom, and they brought out for me a nice little candle and an orange flavored limoncello shot! I took my partner to celebrate an early Valentine's dinner on February 11, 2026 at No. 246 and overall had a solid date night with a few highs and a few "almosts." Appetizers: We started with the No. 246 Meatball ($9) and Garlic Bread with marinara ($17). I'm not usually a meatball person, but I kept seeing reviews recommending this one, so I gave it a try. It's one giant meatball, and I have to say -- it was the juiciest, most moist meatball I've ever had. Tender, well-seasoned, and sitting in a rich tomato sauce that complemented it nicely. That said, I still don't love meatballs in general, so for me it's a 3.5/5 -- but if you're a meatball fan, you'd probably rate it higher. The garlic bread had one of the best cheese pulls I've ever seen. Visually? 10/10. It was golden, crispy on the edges, soft inside, and loaded with bubbling cheese. I just wish it had more of a garlic punch. If there was a lot of garlic, the cheese overpowered it. It came with a bright red marinara sauce, but honestly, the bread was good enough to eat on its own. 4.5/5. Entrees: My partner ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese ($27). The pasta was silky and perfectly al dente, coated in a slow-simmered, hearty meat sauce that tasted rich and deeply savory. You could tell it had been cooked down properly -- layered, comforting, classic. He enjoyed it but felt it didn't fully wow him, so he rated it 3/5. I ordered the Spicy Rigatoni Vodka ($23). The rigatoni was cooked well and coated in a creamy, vodka sauce that was smooth and slightly tangy. I just wish it had more heat. It wasn't as spicy as I expected or hoped for. The flavor was good at first, but the more I ate it, the more I got tired of it -- it felt a bit one-note by the end. I'd rate it 3/5. Good, but I wouldn't order it again. Dessert: We had the pudding cake for dessert, and it looked so good I completely forgot to take a picture. It came warm with a scoop of ice cream on top of what tasted like a lemon bar-style pastry. I would recommend getting a reservation if possible because it seems like a popular restaurant. The server was great, but service was a bit slow, likely due to number of people dining in for dinner. We got the Beaches of Italy, Bellini, Tagliatelle Bolognese, Cacio e Pepe, and Garlic Bread. The Garlic Bread was very cheesy and yummy! It came with a marinara sauce that was nice. I will add there there were red peppers in the Garlic Bread, which added a nice kick but might not be ideal for others. My boyfriend thought the Tagliatelle Bolognese was alright but after he reheated them at home, he said it tasted better (he added hot sauce to it, haha). I liked my Cacio e Pepe, although I wish I asked for more black pepper. The Beaches of Italy is made with tequila but it did not taste like tequila which was nice. The Bellini tasted mostly of Prosecco, even though the menu said it also comes with a peach taste. We were also given free brownies for our anniversary, which was sweet! That was so sweet! also ambiance was super sexy and intimate, so perfect for date night or a girls night! I would say the food was very average to me. I got the ceasar salad and the lettuce was super bitter. I also got the chicken parm and it wasn't as flavorful as i expected. Came for my birthday dinner while visiting family. Have seen so many good reviews on social media so it was top on my list to try. We started with the fritto misto. The seafood was fresh but the star was the marina sauce on the side. I got the chicken scallopini limone and shared the spicy rigatoni vodka. Portions are great! We left very full. Definitely recommend making a reservation as the space is not very big and it seems to be a crowd favorite for everyone. Would definitely go back to try more of the menu read more

The chefs table never disappoints. All of their food is fresh and we did the wine pairing. I didn't have a favorite dish because they were all sooo good. The squid ink pasta had a hollow noodle so it wasn't too heavy. The pizza didn't have cheese but it didn't need it, it also had anchovy's on it. The chef was great and server was amazing. I was wondering why so many people had either recently left poor reviews or had downgraded their previous reviews, and after my most recent visit I unfortunately understand why. Something has completely changed about this spot. It used to be one of my favorites, a nice moderately priced sit-down Italian restaurant tucked away in downtown Decatur. Maybe they've grown too big for their britches as we southerners say, but this most recent visit was likely my last. Staff attitudes were terrible, the execution of the food was a joke. My siblings and I had hyped this restaurant up to our mom and thought she would enjoyed being wined and dined. We arrived admittedly about 10 minutes after our reservation time (thanks to the city of Decatur's hostile parking policies), after attempting to call the restaurant and let them know we were circling the building. I say attempting because the number rings straight to an AI voice that doesn't allow you to speak once it asks you a question. I even tried sending messages through the OpenTable app. Either way, the restaurant claims you have a 15 minute grace period. Once we finally walked inside, my sister leaned over and whispered that their posted food inspection score was a low B. We exchanged glances but figured maybe they were inspected on an off day. The host (once she finally stopped avoiding eye contact with us) spontaneously let us know that since we weren't on time, we would be "getting a table in the back by the kitchen". What an odd policy to announce to your patrons that you're going to be punishing them with bad seating. The table was indeed by the kitchen but given how many tables this restaurant has tried to cram into the dining room, none of them are spectacular. I looked around and saw folks at tables bumping into the ones next to them, that's how tightly everyone is seated. Our server was friendly enough, and was able to recommend some good dishes. Word to the wise, while they bring bread to the table, it's one half-slice per person. We learned the hard way (because our server never mentioned it) that asking for more bread (the exact same amount as before mind you) is $7. You could buy a freshly baked loaf for that price. The actual food was fine, not bad but nothing like we've had in the past. It arrived fairly quickly. Where the dinner continued nosediving was when my sister, after seeing that we all had ordered small side dishes of pasta, decided she'd like to order some as well. By small side dish, I mean a fistful in a soup cup. I add that detail because when she asked the server, the server stated it would be AT LEAST a 20 minute wait. We asked her to repeat herself because surely we heard that wrong, right? 20 minutes for spaghetti?! She left for a few minutes, then came back and said her manager confirmed that even if she asked the kitchen to rush it, the soonest would be 18 minutes. You see a pattern here right? This restaurant seems like they relish letting their customers know who's in charge...and here's a hint reader, it's not you. Where the evening actually became appalling was a result of our closeness to the kitchen. They have a sous chef working dining room-adjacent doing the final dish prep before the food is picked up by the runners. I know kitchens usually don't utilize gloves (the whole, hands can be frequently washed but the same pair of gloves will touch multiple surfaces thing). However this gentleman unabashedly practiced some of the worst cross contamination practices I've ever seen. He'd grabbed fistfuls of Parmesan cheese to garnish a plate, then reach in his pocket for his phone. Then he'd arrange leaves of lettuce for salad, then TOUCH HIS HAIR. We watched him on two occasions have, either family friends or familiar patrons, walk up to him excitedly and he'd hug them and shake their hands and pat their shoulders, and once done would immediately grab forks and knives and spoons by their business ends, squeeze lemons, slice bread, fist the cheese container....absolutely disgusting and completely explains the health inspection score. If anything it should have been lower. We were only 5 feet away from the guy and he made eye contact with us several times so it's not like he was embarrassed. A long haired woman came over a few times and did the same as him, though she did put black gloves on once or twice. To top it off, once we received the check was we saw plenty of upcharges and surcharges that our server neglected to tell us she would be adding, so her tip reflected her oversight. To wrap it up, not only is the service and food not worth the price, but this place is actually unhygienic. Unless they change their practices, you're eating here at your own risk. This has been on my list for awhile. Street parking is available for free on Sunday. We had reservations and were sat immediately. The bartenders and the waitress were very helpful. We ordered the Margherita pizza, shrimp scampi, chicken limone, chicken Marsala and a side of pasta. The food was spectacular. The shrimp scampi was my favorite and the pasta was some of the best I've had. Highly recommend. I will definitely be back to try the steak. read more
