There aren't many places in the immediate area to buy clothes and TJ Maxx requires driving further into Austin and the nearest Marshall's is in Round Rock. There used to be a Target but RIP. So Ross it is. Ross is at the bottom tier of these type of stores. If you remember K-mart the interior is bright and florescent. Everything is on racks. It's one of the larger Ross stores I've been in. I found some socks that I needed to buy and went to the amusement park line to the cashier. Here you can find lots of impulse snacks and gadgets. These stores always get busy mid afternoon just when your thinking your missing all the people picking up stuff after work. They had one cashier but the line started to get long so they opened another cash register. Ross has always been the lower end of the big 3 and they've always had security guards at the door even in the late 1900s. This one was slightly different as they inspect your bags and look at your receipt before leaving - I suggest going to Melrose nearby or drive further out to a Marshall's or TJ Maxx if you can so you don't have to deal with the feeling like you are in prison. read more

This store is total chaos. Security alarms going off in every corner, piles upon piles of stuff EVERYWHERE, massive lines, and so much mess. It looks like someone picked up the Ross, gave it a shake, and tossed it back down. It's incredibly disorganized with items spilling out of the isles, the restrooms are in terrible condition, and it's very messy. read more

Upon exiting the store, Maria the loss prevention checked my receipt and my daughter's bag. Which I did not have a problem with that. She went through every item that my daughter had. Then when I asked for my receipt back when she was done with it, she made us stand there and wait on her to check the person behind me receipt and their bag which happened to be a separate transaction and another bag that belonged to my wife. I asked her was this procedure. She said yes. I stood there and watched as the next three customers who happened to be of another nationality than me get a wave and an automatic check and initial on their receipt with no baggage check through and they had more items than we did. So we were made to wait and go through every item while others were waved through. This is my local Ross and I go here quite frequently. I felt based on the amount of people in the store and based on me having to wait to even get my receipt back, for them to go to that length to check everything in our one bag but let everybody else pass I felt discriminated against. When I brought this to manager Raul's attention, he told me it was just policy. Then when I ask, it's policy to just go through one person's bag out of everyone's bag and only check one person's receipt and just initial the rest. He then told me that this is LPO's audits and this is how it goes. Stating that its procedure again. The receipt check policy sign doesn't state that by the way. My wife and daughter both felt embarrassed that we were the only bags that were checked and made to feel like we did something wrong while everybody else was waved through. When I asked for the LPO name she wouldn't give it to me and said I don't give names or anything you can wait or go to corporate. So now I'm writing this and I will also send this in a same email copy and paste it to corporate. This is not how you treat paying repeat customers I used to manage certain retail stores myself, and I would never treat guest this way. It is bad customer service and is greatly unappreciated. There was several people there that were not of my race that were treated differently, and my money spends the same as theirs. I will not be spending my money with you or coming back to this store and I will make sure that others know what happened so they can make a choice whether or not to come to that store and location as well. I always frequent this store .. employees are always friendly . But, when I called this morning to see if the store Would be open on Veterans Day the person that answered was super rude . I asked if the store was going to be open today and she replied we don't open until 9 and hung up ... try to be nice to your customers in store and on the phone . I feel sorry for the people working here. There are not enough and the place is a mess. The poor woman at the check out was trying to be patient and kind. I love the dress selection at this store! They also have a really nice purse selection! I am always able to find something in here and the dresses are usually around $12.00-$20.00! I believe they buy overstock from department stores and such so you are getting the name brand clothes but, just at a more reasonable price! This store has gone downhill. I asked cashier to wrap three fragile items in a cushioned rug that I bought and she didn't, she just stacked them on top of each other and put them in a bag and threw the flashlight I bought on top. Then when I was leaving I was yelled at when I was taking the cart out to my car by the security guard saying I can't take the cart outside the store. I had four bags with the fragile items which I tried to explain to the security guard but she just shut me down and stayed where she was standing and yelled across the store no! So I yelled right back to her and said I'll make sure to buy less items next time. So just make sure you buy only enough items to carry out to your car because the carts can't go past the door. read more

Despite the weird conversation happening in the dressing rooms among the employees, this Ross is one of the best in Austin thus far. Anyone who knows me, know that I love Ross, I feel no shame about it given that I tend to find really adorable clothes, and lots of name brands, for about half the price. I figure, if I can spend less money on clothes that I can spend more money on awesome stuff. That said, on a rainy December night when they surprisingly it open until midnight, I walked out of this particular Ross with a couple of cute sweaters, a blanket, a dress, two pairs of jeans, a belt for my brother, a cocktail shaker and some cool knick knacks... all at the bargain basement price of $150. Ross is a womens store, hands down. The mens section is beyond lacking and barren of anything worth purchasing. No, I take that back, I find something nice 1 out of the 20 times I go to Ross. And mens shoes? Forget it. The one thing I can say about Ross that is positive, for men, is that they carry designer watches that are usually not found in stores due to being out of stock or out of season. Today I went in to Ross expecting to have to haggle over a dress I bought there that I loved! It was a gorgeous dress that when I took it to the cleaners it came back wonk. The cleaners said it was a manufacture defect. They said take it back to Ross. I just knew it was going to be a show down, no receipt, I already wore it, you ladies know the drill. But to my SURPRISE!!!! I was impressed! The manager said if you can find one, which I was LUCKY, I found a similar one, not the same, she gave me full store credit. I really really wanted the same dress I know she even said why you want the same but did I say up there I LOVED IT! I find some real treasures at Ross. I found a couple of great jackets for my husband that he loves and a ton of nice looking and really soft tees for him. And I can go in and find a lot of random tops or casual pants for myself. I ran in the other day looking for a pair of yoga pants, I only found one pair that were the length I wanted and in my size. I didn't really like them but they were only $12. When my husband saw me in them he said they looked hot so I guess it was a score after all ;) My only real complaint is the daycare atmosphere. read more

Either you get the Ross model or you don't it is a chain. Selection varies and rotates quickly. Some stuff is complete trash and other things are a good buy. I have been to this Ross a handful of times, and the lines are generally shorter and items are still on shelves at this Ross. The key to successfully shopping at Ross is to go in with nothing in particular in mind but a running list of things you might be looking for. A lot of people go looking for a cheap outfit, but don't dismiss the housewares as that is where I have found the better and more heavily discounted items. Inspect the sit out merchandise before you leave the store and go in with an open mind and you will likely find at least an item that is a good buy. read more

Still a good place for some bargains, but not as good as it used to be. They have a great selection of house stuff. Cute rugs for cheap. Gift items like candles and pottery for the garden. Great deals on luggage. It used to be much tidier. It seems pretty discombobulated every time I go now. Less help to cut costs would be my guess. I prefer to shop on my w/o help anyway. They used to have an impressive selection of shoes. Now, not so much. My main complaint about this particular store is the freakin' out of control children! I have literally ceased my shopping before to escape the shrieking, crying, running little monsters. They make the "Watch your Children" announcement, but it is fruitless. Today, there was a kid hanging in the dress rack I was trying to peruse. Does bargain shopping mean a lower class of parent? Can't the ever present security guard round 'em all up? This Ross wasn't too busy when I stopped in; however, I think it does get a lot of traffic since it's right by Tech Ridge. The selection seemed geared slightly toward the 35 and up crowd. I saw nice looking professional clothes, but not much I would consider wearing in the way of casual attire. Shoe selection was on par with other Ross stores; purse selection was slightly nicer. They had quite a few Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, and Nine West bags, as well as some nice laptop friendly briefcases. The lingerie section was larger than I expected and featured some cute Rampage brand items. I think maybe Rampage recently discontinued their lingerie, so the stock at Ross is probably a temporary phenomenon. read more

Went to make a return at this location. Had the receipt, the lady working returns wanted my debit card I asked her how long it took for the money to go on the card if it was a day it's not a big deal, she said ten days. I asked her if I could have cash and she refused. So I asked her why it took so long because when we pay debit they get the money right away. Mind you, I didn't care if it went back on the card. She didn't answer the question so I swiped it and went on about my business. At that point she literally throws the receipt at me. Which was completely uncalled for. I spend alot of money at Ross. I will not continue to spend money there if that's they way I'm going to be treated. Talked to manager Patricia though, she was very apologetic and understanding. I love shopping at discount stores. Ross WAS my favorite until May 2016. I bought over $200.00 worth of merchandise for my daughter's mother's day present. It was several household items for my daughter who had purchased her home. I specifically told the cashier to make sure I had all.of my items. Friday night before mother's day, I decided to put the items in a gift bag only to find out I didn't have all of the items I bought. It was late & Ross was closed. I called Saturday morning & informed my items were at the returns desk. I told the person that answered that I'm coming from Elgin (22 miles away) and I'd be thete but not sure what time. I worked in customer service & its common knowledge to satisfy the customer especially when that company has done something wrong. So whem I arrived, I requested to speak to the manager to explain what happened. When I did explain, the manager just looked at me without doing ANY customer service! I told him I was inconvenienced having to drive back from Elgin to get the missing items that I requested to the cashier to make sure I had all if the items I bought. Then he nonchalantly asked me what I wanted? Again, no customer service. Since he didn't recommend anything, I asked for a discount off of the items I purchased to cover the gas & inconvenience. He nonchalantly stated he'd give me 10% off of my next purchase. I asked for the 10% off of the items I had already purchased, but he refused. I asked again for the 10% off of the items I had bought but he refused again. I told him for him not giving me GOOD customer service that I'd return all if the items & he replied "OK". I told him "I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ANOTHER ROSS!" He never responded! So I went to my car and got the items along with the ones the cashier had left & returned ALL of the items. He still NEVER did ANY customer service when he had to approve the refund!! I thank God for Marshall's, T J Maxx & Nordstrom's Rack. That's where I'll be shopping! I did receive a call a week later from a lady who said she'd investigate & call me back, but that NEVER happened which solidified I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ANOTHER ROSS STORE!! Pretty good, only con was the clothes were all jumbled up by size, and you need to carefully look through all the clothes, or you might miss somehting: 1st time i went over clothes, got nothing. 2nd time, 1 or 2 items, 3rd time, 4-6 items 4th time, 10 items. It's really time consuming! But the clothes were good-looking and cheap, though admittedly a bit on the thin side. They get all the clothes that the other shops couldn't sell for a cheap price, then put it out, for an even cheaper price! Example: They used to have BURBERRY there, for like, 20$, until burberry found out, and stopped giving their clothes to ross.(cause when you can get their clothes for 20$, who wants to pay the 100$ price tag on the Burberry stores! read more

My first compliant is the number of cashiers in the store at 5 pm on a Saturday. There were jus two before the manager finally decided to join them. At that time, there at least 20 people in line. Not very good management. My second compliant, involved a women that felt see was special and wasn't going to wait in line like everyone else. She got in the the line for returns and was told by a young cashier she had to wait in line. The manager came over and allowed the woman to jump everyone else. When I comforted this manager she admitted she let the woman ahead but apologized. Fair is fair, if I had tried to do the same I would have been told to wait in line but because this women was obviously special. To continue, the store was dirty, unorganized, and the dressing room was also dirty. Management was not managing well today. read more

There was no selection of clothes and the place looks like a tornado hit it everytime I go inside. There is always clothes on the floor, nothing is where it is supposed to be. It just looks like they let the customers run ragged in the store. If I could rate this place a zero I would. I was shopping next door at the Best Buy and put my infant daughter (less than yr old) in a cart and bought a few items there, which I took put up in my car. I noticed the Ross store next door, so I wheeled my daughter over there in the cart. I got in the door and a lady starts yelling at me, "you can't bring that in here!" I look around confused, thinking she must be talking to somebody else, but I didn't see anybody...so I ask, "Bring what?" She replied nastily, "the cart! You have to use one of our carts!" someone had already grabbed the last cart, so I replied. "Why? My car is parked right next door, and I will take the cart back." I tried to ask nicely. This wicked woman then said, "NO! Your have to use our cart! Do I need to have someone escort you out?!" I was astonished. I have never been so offended, and if my baby had not been there, I would have definitely shared some choice words with this grinch of a woman. Instead, I unstrapped my kid from the cart and left it squarely in the door way. Needless to say I will not be going back. read more
