The only good things about this restaurant are it's location and Crab Egg Rolls. The Rockfish Tacos were a disappointment.

My wife another couple and two children had lunch on a beautiful summer day. I was impressed by how open and clean the place was. It TVs surrounded us as we ate upstairs which had beautiful views of the the ocean. Garage door style doors opened out to the main strip of Bethany. We ordered their wings in a few sauces. They were fantastic. The drinks were refreshing and service was great. The young lady who was the hostess (on July 5 2018) was super accommodating. She hit the elevator button to go up and must have hurried to get up to the next floor when it opened. She greater ya with menus and a smile. It made us feel very "lux". We appreciate the high chair and stress free. I've been going to the Ropewalk family of taverns for years. Food and service are consistently great. The only thing that has changed is they are getting nicer and larger with time! read more

We ended up here for take-out as they were still serving food later than other options in the area (bar menu available until 1030, still serving full menu after 9pm). We had the snow crab legs, peel-and-eat shrimp, crab soup and seafood Mac-n-cheese. Everything was tasty, soup a tad salty but flavorful. Seafood Mac came with shrimp mixed in and topped with crab- really good! Crab legs also fresh and sweet. Kids loved the shrimp. No outdoor dining but a great take-out option if you want to eat at your own place. Dining room was not crowded when we went, but bar did have several younger people, patrons not wearing masks but understandable as they were drinking/eating. In general, majority of younger people on the boardwalk are not wearing masks while older folks, people with families seemed to be observant, all businesses with employees wearing masks. read more

Food was mediocre at best. I had rock fish tacos. The fish was ok. The cheese was out of a bag you'd get at a grocery store. My wife had wings that were very good. Drinks were not well made. I ordered a grapefruit crush that was very light on grapefruit. My wife ordered a lemon crush with a splash of cranberry and all we could taste was cranberry. However, most notable is that we sat in the window between the inside of the restaurant and the patio. My wife laid her leather purse on the ledge between the two. When she picked it up she realized it was covered in ink that was on the ledge. And it was now on her white shorts as well. I mentioned this to our waitress who had mentioned she's the restaurant general manager and her only response was that the ink wasn't there this morning. No offer to help clean it, no apology. Went for New Years Eve and we were hesitant because of some of the reviews on Trip Advisor, but it was excellent. We were with friends and had chicken wings, bada bing shrimp, Korean cauliflower to begin. Large portions and the taste was excellent. We then had pepper crusted filet, Murphy's mac and cheese, short ribs and jerk chicken. Everything was excellent. Eric was our server and he was extremely attentive and did a great job. We went to this restaurant simply for convience, we were tired and hungry and had to feed our little one. I was not impressed with the menu especially the kids menu, which was either Mac and cheese, or fried things like burgers/ chicken tenders or pasta marinara, I felt they could have better more healthier options, like fish and veggies. They do not do half portions of normal entrees. Anyhow, we ordered the jerk chicken and the swordfish. Both came with rice and green beans, the rice was meh, and the green beans were a wierd texture and very salty. I tried to give my daughter some of my chicken, but it wasn't very good, and a bit too spicy for her, so she ended up throwing most of it on the floor. If you have time on your hands and aren't dragging around little ones, I wouldn't recommend this place. Restrooms were also dirty with cheap foaming soap, that didnt lather. read more

Would you like extra flies in your meal? You read that right, flies not fries. There was so much flies hovering over our food, I couldn't wait to get out of there. I had the crab legs steam pot, it was not bad. The portion was very decent but the crab legs was very salty. Not sure if the flies was attracted to the smell of seafood, they couldn't leave me alone. They need to either close the window or set up some kind of fly traps because i couldn't enjoy my meal with them hovering over constantly. However the service is very attentive, and they serve drinks in a mini pitcher if you're looking for some good deal on drinks. read more

We were able to walk in and sit down at 6pm on a nice day, so that was nice. My wife ordered the blackened halibut with no rice, extra green beans. Fish came out hard as a rock and completely dry like it had been sitting under the heat lamps. They remade the fish, but then came out with rice instead of how she ordered the meal. I received awful service at the hostess table when I came to this fine establishment. I went in to sit with six others and was greeted by death stares and evil eyes. I asked for a table and was followed by the hostess' giggles and laughs at me. I felt insecure, embarrassed, and humiliated. They both stared and stayed silent while I was trying to obtain a table. Finally they stopped their laughs and seated us at the most wet and slippery table. The food was very good and our waiter was extremely considerate to our group. I wanted to like this place but can't do it. Crab cake sandwiches are awful. The bread is like a generic store bought roll. Go to Bethany Boathouse to see what a real crab cake tastes like. We also wanted to sit upstairs but they refused to accommodate us and said they couldn't push tables together. At the end of our meal there were still a bunch of empty tables up there. Service was good. No complaints there. My wife's crab cake sandwich was decent, she had no complaints. Crawfish were very over cooked and my seafood Mac and cheese was beyond mediocre. I'm talking this was literally mac and cheese with a few shrimp dropped in. Zero crab. Smothered in nothing. This has been the worst $100 we have spent on our trip. For a busy weekend they were able to sit us right away. The crab cake eggrolls were good. I was annoyed cause we ordered the egg rolls, my daughters mac & cheese from the kids menu and 2 soups and only the egg rolls came out. My daughters mac and cheese took awhile to come out and the soup came out after our meals. They were busy and the kitchen was backed up. They did accommodate us for the soup and mac & cheese since they were late! The sodas came out in a mini pitcher. read more

I was very excited to try out this restaurant. I was very disappointed with my experience here. One of my friend's got the Gipper burger and was given the crab burger instead. The burger got fixed, but then we were charged the more expensive burger. We were also charged $2.00 extra for cheese on the burgers. Who charges extra for cheese on burgers! Also, all three of us got fries as a side and we were all charged without being told. The food was not good and ate it because we were hungry. I would not come back here and would not recommend this place to our friends. Also, this restaurant was not clean either, especially with being a pandemic. I have been going here for a few weeks while in the area on job related training. I must, this place is hands down one of the best places in the area. Friendly staff, good selection of food, and drinks. Atmosphere is relaxed. I recommend for a drink the Mermaid Water mixed drink and the Ronald Regan lager for beer. For food, you can't go wrong with a Delmarva burger or their swordfish or Halibut dinner. The staff was friendly and courteous even when swamped. I hopefully plan to be back in the summer and I'm sure this place will be just as good if not better. read more

Well, the wife and I visited Ropewalk again today. We originally visited when they first opened and they struggled with food quality at that time; our food was served cold. The good news tonight was the food was hot; the bad news is my chicken wings were very overcooked and two pieces were obviously burned. I mean I can't believe the waiter didn't notice!! We did complain and the waiter offered to get us another order but we declined. I was disappointed to find the charges for the overcooked food included in over bill. We paid the check and left; we won't be back again. Oh, and they STILL don't list the price of the drinks.... read more

Murthy's Mac and cheese was $28 and was supposed to have crab and shrimp. When arrived I counted 6 shrimp and a sprinkling of crab meat. Shrimp were tiny and Mac and cheese was mediocre at best. Service was fine, $28 is ridiculous considering the state of my dish. read more

Yeah - NO - Waiter was new and very average. Cream of crab soup tasted like cream, crab and cream cheese- yuk. Fish tacos were small and very average. I paid $2 extra for waffle fries that came cold and stale to the table - That shouldn't happen in any restaurant at any time that's lazy. The waiter did bring more waffle fries, hot from the microwave and the taste of old oil was pungent. Do restaurants really think people can't taste burnt stale oil? Convenient location on the Bethany boardwalk. Great place if you have young kids as they have a small sandbox playground at the entrance. The restaurant was super loud given the high population of younger children there when we visited. The food was good. read more

This would have been a perfect project for Jon Taffer of Bar Rescue AND Robert Irvine of Restaurant Impossible bar and restaurant makeover shows! From the first attempted drink that was described as being kind of sweet ended up being returned after one sip for having absolutely no taste and yet had a bitter aftertaste that was far from the acclaimed fruit it was named for. Second drink tasted nothing like the classic island frozen drink..nothing but the stinging taste of alcohol. Given the nasty bathroom and tasteless drinks I searched the menu for 15 minutes trying to find something foolproof having lost all confidence they could carry off anything with flavor. When I finally opted for my entree dish, I had a lukewarm over-parmesaned cheesed dish of tough scallops.. I was done and couldn't wait to leave and get a burger from Burger King. My boyfriend and I came here on vacation and had an okay time. The cups were pretty cool, they were like mini pitchers, but in terms of food it was kind of lacking. Everything was room temperature, like it was heated in a microwave. We got the crab and artichoke dip which was pretty average. Would have been better if it was actually hot. We also got the portobello tacos and the badabang shrimp. The tacos weren't bad, but there was so much oil dripping from them. The shrimp was such a letdown. If they were supposed to be like bang bang shrimp (which it seems like they were) they underperformed. They tasted too sweet and the shrimp tasted more like chicken than seafood. Waffle fries were good, however for the price we paid the food should have been better. As far as customer service everyone was very friendly and attentive. read more

Glad we stopped in for an early lunch (11:30). The place was packed when we left at 12:45. We sat upstairs on the outside deck. Great view of the storm clouds rolling in. The deck is covered so we stayed mostly dry when the rain started blowing sideways. Our waitress, Anna, was very courteous and made some nice recommendations. I ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos. There were 3 tacos and a generous portion of kettle chips on the side. I would order them again. My husband ordered the Rockfish Tacos. The fish was battered not grilled. We both thought it was a bit "fishy" tasting. Hopefully, it was just that batch of fish. My son ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich and said it was great! It also came with kettle chips, slaw and pickle slices. The only downside was the price for soft drinks. They are $4.00 each! Granted, the glass is technically a 32 ounce pitcher but that was a surprise when the bill came. I barely drank a 1/3 of my iced tea so I think I will stick with water next time. I agree with a previous review. It is really really loud inside the upstairs dining area. But when it's loud with happy customers eating and enjoying themselves it can't be all bad.
