By far the best and most REALEST donuts I've had! So many different and funky flavors to choose from! I LOVE the cookies and cream donut! I also love how they have dog cookies in there too. And how all the donuts (well, most of them) are named after real Chincoteague ponies since they started out in Chincoteague! I think it's a great place if you're down in Bethany Beach and want to get a delicious donut! They can be very sugary but if you don't mind that they're great!! I love going here and will continue to do so! read more

(This review is for the second drive thru location in Bethany- but there is not a page for it- but the review isn't location specific). Kept seeing this all over during our trip to Bethany, they have two locations in Bethany, one that has a drive thru happened to be a short walk from the hotel- connected to a quick stop. They're cake donuts made hot and fresh and you can get dipped flavors. I looked up their menu ahead of time because I'm horrible at deciding. Unfortunately two of the flavors I wanted were unavailable. I got half a dozen which was $12. There was a decent amount of staff working and a long wait but the donuts were made very quickly. I went with the strawberry stallion (a backup), surfer dude(backup) and the salted caramel. We didn't eat them until about 2 1/2 hours after we got them but they were still surprisingly warm- although not the most pretty. My boyfriend got the porky pony, blueberry pie and blue moon. He said the porky pony was very bacon-us I enjoyed the surfer dude the most. The fruit dipped ones were definitely very brightly colored which differed from the photos online a lot. And my strawberry stallion honestly didn't have much flavor. I did like the salted caramel. Overall I like filled donuts more than topped donuts but I will take a cake donut over a regular one any day. Overall not bad, I think most shore points have their famous donut spots and for this to be Delawares I have no complaint. Just don't think it's a "must stop" for me! read more

An untouchable classic. If you haven't had the delight of tearing into a warm sandy pony donut; stop waiting. They're being churned out fresh by the minute. Glazed and topped as you're ordering it. They're best warm, of course. But still so good cold too. The service is great, 24 hand made fresh donuts were out within 5 minutes. The Bethany location is tucked away inside a gas station. What a treat to finally be able to have a donut again! It's tough to find gluten-free donuts, and even more rare to find ones that are served hot and fresh. The employee working was able to confirm that the cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar toppings could be added to gluten-free donuts without cross-contamination. I thoroughly enjoyed both! They were hot, fresh, fluffy, and a tasty treat after a morning on the beach. The shop does get very busy during peak hours, which speaks to how popular they've become in Bethany. The space is small inside, but they've designated an entrance and exit to help the flow of people and have a few picnic benches for seating outside. Can't wait to go back again. read more

I visited the Dewey Beach location in July. The service was relatively fast--about a 5-7 minute wait after placing our order. If you've ever had Duck Donuts, the texture and flavor of the donuts here are almost identical. In a blind taste test, I'd probably mistake them for Duck Donuts! That said, the toppings were underwhelming. I tried the "Blueberry Pie" donut, which was disappointing. Don't be fooled by the name--it doesn't resemble pie at all. It had an artificial blueberry flavor and a strange greenish tint. I wouldn't recommend it. The "Porky Pony" (bacon-topped) donut was better. Some in my family gave it a 4 out of 5. However, it didn't have the cinnamon that was listed in the description. Note: there's no indoor seating--just takeout or outdoor seating in direct sun. read more

This is a hidden treasure! GLUTEN FREE and nut free donuts!! Yummy!! The BEST Açaí bowls I have tasted because they are NOT too sweet. I could really taste the Açaí and the fruit toppings. I'm back in the DMV and what I miss about the beach is this Açaí bowl. I wish I had asked for light honey, because I don't do sugar regularly adding the honey was a little too sweet. It was perfect on its own, maybe just a little drizzle. The donuts were hot and moist. My favorite was the maple bacon, then sprinkles, coconut, blueberry, and the cinnamon and chocolate chip were okay. I wish I had tried the powder sugar instead of the cinnamon. read more

Their açaí bowls are very tasty - they have a slight creaminess to them that unique. I spotted at the other location up the block coming from the beach and they were closed. The girl didn't bother to say our location in Bethany is open under 9 on Friday and Saturday but we drove over and were happy to find them open. I'm not a fan or their doughnuts I didn't like the taste of their oil and the fact that all I tasted was oil is not good but I will come back for their açaí bowls. They had a very foreign kid working there who mentioned he was there on a visa. Very polite and well spoken. read more

Gluten free donut and the beach? Bliss! My husband went at 7:50am on a Monday and there was no line. He picked up gluten free donuts and regular (assorted). My tween and teenage girls are more familiar with Dunkin and said they looked smaller, so they were skeptical, but once they tasted them (warm) they were impressed (hard to do at this age)! This is our first time trying, Sandy Pony donuts and they are great! They always have a line out the door in the morning and we've always wanted to try it. They had a beautiful mural that was painting on the wall with all of the Bethany landmarks. We went in around 2 PM yesterday, and there were about 6 people in the shop. There was only one girl working the front and two in the back making donuts. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The service was slightly slow due to the short staff. We got a half dozen which included: Misty Mint, Charlie Brown, Ms. Sandy, Sand Dune (2) and a Raw donut. All of the donuts were very good and we will definitely be back to try new flavors! read more

Came here to go walk around the boardwalk but one of our friends were craving donuts. We stopped by and was there a line. You always know it's good when there's a line. I am not a huge fan of donuts, but man, these were good. They look super dense and I don't like dense donuts, so I took a bite thinking it was going to be a very heavy oily donut. Nope, pleasantly surprised with a very fluffy inside and a nice soft texture with just the right amount of sweetness from the outer toppings. There is no seating inside, but plenty of outdoor tables. One of our favorite flavors we tried was the Surfer Dude. The food is very good a little more on the pricey side for how much a small donut would cost but the freshness and the taste makes up for it 100%. The Açaí bowls are delicious and in my opinion the best thing they have, the service is very good always easy to order and the atmosphere in the store is very nice as well, outside there are tables to sit in and wait for food/eat your order in.
