Stopped in Hooked for dinner. We had the clam chowder and mussels. The seafood was fresh and flavorful. Service was quick and food was good. I had my first official "Crush" drink. I enjoyed it but have nothing to compare it to. They have a full bar with a wide variety of cocktails, wine and beers. Loved the restaurant and ambiance. We decided to sit downstairs as they have upstairs as well. There was some live music as well. The food was excellent and actually we ate too much. The cocktails especially the mojito was excellent. Paige our server was great even though at times the service was slow. Don't get me wrong she was sweet and personable but could have been more efficient. She actually forgot to put my orange crush drink in. They also have a kids menu which is a big plus for families with kids. During the off season their entrees are half off Tue - Thus which is a steal of a deal. While passing through Ocean City for a day of sightseeing, I stumbled upon Hooked while searching for a non-chain dining option. I was immediately welcomed by warm, friendly service--our server was not only personable but also offered great recommendations. I started with the mussels, and my husband opted for the wings. The wings were so exceptional that I ended up ordering them as my entrée, accompanied by a side of fries. I was especially intrigued by the tomato jam--it was so delicious that I found myself wondering about the secret behind its flavor. The manager was even kind enough to give me a small container to take home with me. That small act of kindness really made my day. My husband got the hooked burger that he really enjoyed. I get that menus and cooks change but I came here based upon the great looking photos of fish and chips here on Yelp. The fish itself was hot and fresh and... bland. Batter was good but fish needed a little salt... andddd tbere's no S&P on the table. And the fries are currently cold, mushy, clearly cooked in old oil and hoping against all hope that all the rosemary will save it. It doesn't and this plate is an embarassment at $29. We went here for happy hour and really loved it. The bartender was super nice. We shared the boom boom shrimp, the crab and corn soup, the deviled eggs, and the burger. The only thing I wouldn't get again are the deviled eggs. They were pretty bland but did have a decent amount of crab. Everything else was great! I really loved the soup which also had lots of crab and the corn added a nice texture. The shrimp were perfectly fried and the spicy mayo was delicious. My review was falling between a four star and five star, you will see why by the end. First of all, you walk into a bright and inviting bar area. We got there on the early side of happy hour and were able to be seated right away. Excellent prices for happy hour items as well. We started with the orange crush drinks and they were fantastic! Kung pao calamari was very tender and delicious. I would even say less sauce so the meat can shine more. My son loved the Mexican street corn, he was even talking about it the next day to someone at the beach. Caesar Salad was delightful! The Mahi Mahi was a little tough (overcooked) and not too much flavor, but my son had some leftover sauce from his corn that helped out. My wife enjoyed the lobster salad with the celery and onion being prominent ingredients inside. Being from CT it is hard for someone to say they enjoy a cold lobster roll. We went during the off season and they had discounts on all of their entrees, effectively halving the price of our check. They offered recommendations and were patient while we pondered over our choices. We enjoyed the half price entrees (Tuesday evening) and even my teenagers found tasty options. Delicious fish tacos!! Ohhh my goodness....order the fish tacos!! They are amazing. They came out hot and fresh. My husband had the burger and he said it was good. The fries were hand cut and great. We enjoyed blackberry mules for our cocktails. They were delicious also. Our server was John. He was friendly and gave excellent food recommendations. The restaurant was cozy and warm. This review is for the service alone. The food was perfect as it always has been. We have been coming for years as we have a condo right behind hooked. Mostly we come for lunch as we did today. Not a shortage of staff, literally the staff did not care. When paying these prices- which let's be clear are very reasonable, but Hooked sets itself a step above ropewalk/ Mackeys and the like. Details are not important, and it was not a terrible experience, but plates can be cleaned when done, I should not be trading out dirty water glasses and side plates , there were three tables of which we were one and we waited much too long. Kate was the best, she walked us through any questions we had, and was clever enough to bring out some of their homemade hot sauce that she turned into an upsell when we bought a bottle to take home. Bland, uninspiring meals which are over-priced for the culinary "experience" which is no better than the fried crap meals at the majority of other OCMD restaurants. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on reviews and friends' recommendations. Our server also forgot to "mention" that the sea bass special was the entire fish similar to the way Branzino fish often is served which was an unpleasant surprise upon its arrival to the dinner table. My significant other had the crab cake and soft shell crab special which was nothing special except for the price. With limited quality restaurants in OCMD, I'll plan to visit my staple other quality restaurants or eat the standard fried crap OCMD meals or the overpriced subs/pizza/bar food. read more

My husband and I were in OC Md for a few days and went to Hooked in spite of some recent less-than-flattering reviews. I'm so glad we did! We were seated on the 2nd floor at a table for two by a window. Lovely. Then they sat a table of 13 next to us. Sigh. So I asked the bartender (Brendon) if he would mind if we moved to the bar (no one else was seated there); he said of course. He made us two fantastic drinks (he was obviously a pro). We asked about apps and he told us about two of them, beautifully describing ingredients etc. We opted for the calamari which had a fantastic Asian sauce with crushed peanuts, and it was fantastic. I wanted to lick the bowl. I had a smith island crab cake dinner with a corn salad and loved it. My husband had the shrimp and grits and he loved his meal as well. They were both well prepared and delicious. While eating we got to watch Brendon bartending and waiting tables. What a pro; he never missed a beat despite several very full tables. I think our experience was partly si enjoyable due to Brandon's expertise as well as his friendly nature, and also due to the really good, flavorful food. We don't get to OC very often, but when we do we will definitely return to Hooked (and hope Brendon is there!). read more

We started with the BOOM BOOM shrimp (shared) and the cup of bisque (hubby-not shown) shrimp were seasoned and not soggy from sauce. Hubby enjoyed his bisque. I ordered Salmon BLT sammie, which surprisingly came as a wrap and I was happy not to have the bun. Hubby enjoyed the crab cake sandwich. Both were enjoyed by us! The food was honestly well below sub par, the service was sub par. If you're looking for a great experience being an "out of towner" don't pick this place !! I'd recommend fast food or even opting for a main stream franchise!! It seems that they are trading on a once well known name for high quality. I had the monkfish - it was fair. Wife had the tuna Son had the scallops As a family we shared the deviled eggs Monkfish was ok- tasted good but meal left me desiring something more Tuna was rough at best.... Definitely cooked well under as described also looked a bit "aged" now that I think about it! Scallops were excellent - best option on the menu but that's it - the scallops nothing else on the plate . Deviled eggs - 3 halves for almost 20$!! I ordered them for the family to have a neat, new experience for deviled eggs (we love them - typically). Don't waste your time or money not worth it!! Over all DO NOT RECOMMEND!! The scallops were very good but the risotto needed more flavor to be the majority of the dish. It's good enough for the special reduced meal days but might disappoint some for regular price. The shrimp and grits are good and hearty. I'd describe it as a shrimp gumbo on grits. My waiter was hard to flag throughout the evening. I saw a few other plates that looked good. Had a delightful lunch experience at Hooked on a short trip to Ocean City. The restaurant was a mix of a classy and local, down to earth vibe with coastal eats. HIGHLY recommend the Floria style smoked fish dip. It was the perfect palette of savory flavors, and I could not get enough of it!! Wish it came with more flatbread crackers, though. We ordered the shrimp tacos, the blackened mahi sammy, and the crab cake sammy. The portions of seafood were on the smaller side but fit for a light lunch. Went on Juneteenth - no wait. Started with a couple drinks and the calamari. Different kind of breading. Less like a batter type but still light and crunchy. Very good calamari. I got one of their specialty drinks - Razzle Dazzle. The alcohol was a little on the heavy handed side. My sister's entree was the Cioppino which she said had a very good flavor. We asked for some bread to help soak up all the sauce! I got the baked Halibut which was cooked to perfection! It came with grilled or braised asparagus that were delicious. There were a couple of stringy ends but the rest was delish! I got the French toast bread pudding for dessert. It came with vanilla ice cream, caramel drizzle, and candied bacon.
