The host staff, servers, and management were great and very accommodating. The food was great. They offered there unique twist on dishes. I had the mussels. The andouille sausage added a nice layer of flavor to the dish. The spices in sausage were great throughout the flavor of mussels and broth. There were 4 fishes available for entree. I went with the Cobia. There were 4 cooking/pairing types. I selected cajun style. Blackened Cobia, andouille sausage, over dirty rice, with vegetable medley. Medley included peppers, okra, and celery. Great all around flavor. Food was overall fantastic. I will say service was a bit slow but Mrs. April was great getting things turned around. Located in the Double Tree Hotel, this newer place looked cool online, so we gave it a try as a place that we haven't been. We walked from our hotel and checked in about 15min before our reservation, and were immediately sat. Don't seem overly busy which is never a good thing in a vacation destination. We were sat along the windows and put in a drink order. I got an old fashioned which was fine. I ordered the cream of crab soup as a starter. Soup was solid, but the flavor was pretty lacking. As my entree I went with the bleu cheese encrusted steak. I ordered it medium-well, which is what you do at a place that doesn't have steak in its name or isn't billed as a steakhouse. That way when the undercook it (as most do) it'll be the preferred medium temp. Anyway, the steak came out and WAS NOT encrusted. The potatoes that were served with it were very good but undercooked and slimy. The vegetables looked just forced and were thrown on the plate to add color not flavor. I was in town for a business trip and decided to stop in here for the happy hour -- largely because they advertised some specials that looked tasty. Parking wasn't too bad since it was off-season but I can imagine in season it's probably a challenge. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the hotel. I was greeted and seated quickly, with a nice partial view of the ocean. I decided to try the local clam selection -- they had two kinds + a special on from Connecticut. I got one of each and enjoyed all of them - they were fresh and tasty. One of the local ones was particularly salty so it was my least favorite, but all of them were good. Then I got the she-crab soup, and O. M. G! This was perhaps the BEST she-crab soup I have ever had in my life. Bursting with crab meat, perfect blend of spices and sherry. The only thing I would have changed is maybe upping the game with some oyster crackers -- they served it with those regular Keebler saltine cracker sides, which was okay, but elevating the cracker game just a bit would make a world of difference. I was only going to get a cup, but the happy hour price for the bowl is the same, so I had extra to take with me and eat later. I took a look at the dinner menu - and it seemed a bit too pricey for me, and I have trouble with super large portions of food, which is why I wanted to try out the happy hour. Located in the Doubletree by Hilton on the 2nd floor Marlin Moon is worth a visit! We started with the Calamari served with creamy pesto and marinara sauce and 1/2 dozen oysters . Both apps were presented and plated beautifully with impeccable service from Amalia and Nick. The calamari was both tender and delicious and the oysters were briny and salty! I had the Pittsburgh salad and the rib eye had so much flavor and was cooked perfectly, The caramelized onions , blue cheese crumble, and french fries made this salad. I love a salad with each bite giving some kind of surprising combination of flavor. The creamy vinaigrette spiked with A-1 so complimented the salad. My friend got a " Po Boy " with hand breaded shrimp with Cajun remoulade, she said the sandwich was good! Hammerhead on tap from Oyster Brewery so good! But the food took a long time to come out, and the restaurant was very understaffed for a busy holiday week. This was a cute restaurant on the second floor of a Double Tree hotel. There is dedicated parking for the restaurant so easy parking even if you're not staying there. Our server was friendly and was reachable whenever we needed something and also helped us with our questions on the menu. This is review is for breakfast. We went 2 mornings in a row since it's within the hotel. It's hit or miss, and depending on the days. Our first day, our waiter was so nice and friendly. The second day, another waiter might just have an off day. Crab cake Benedict was so good, but the poached eggs turned out to be boiled eggs. Kids waffle was good and crunchy when eaten right away. It gets soggy as it sits. Steak and eggs was too well done, even though we ordered medium rare. Kids scrambled eggs and bacon was full with potatoes. The egg sandwich was also cold by the time it arrived just to put a bow on it. 3.5 stars would be a more accurate reflection of my views on this restaurant but in the absence of that option, 3-stars seem like the more appropriate choice. This is how I decide on whether a restaurant merits 3-stars as opposed to 4 in my books. With a place that is rated 3-stars I do not look forward to trying out the place again and would rather seek out other places proactively. In contrast, for a place that I have rated as 4-stars, I am happy, and perhaps even enthusiastic, about coming back to the place again and, using that yardstick, Marlin Moon scores rightfully as closer to 3-stars rather than 4. Hence the rating. Now for some more context on our meal: My wife, 4-year old daughter, and I found ourselves here for a very late lunch (early dinner for some?) at about 3:30 p.m. on Christmas Day 2023. Marlin was far from our first choice; our earlier meals in Ocean City, MD, had been at Hooked and Cafe Mirage (both of which I rated as 5-stars) and Spain Wine Bar (which I rated as 4-stars). I would have been far more interested in going back to one of those restaurants except that all of them (and several other places that we considered) were closed on Christmas. And therefore staying at the Hilton Suites literally next door to the Marlin, we found ourselves here at this restaurant on the afternoon of December 25th, 2023. My daughter who is a sucker for calamari went with an order of "Bait" (which is what the calamari dish is known as at the restaurant.) My wife went with an order of the seafood pasta based on our server's recommendation. As far as my order is concerned, I couldn't decide about what to get and rather than going with a single entree, I went with two appetizers - a "Christmas special" item, the stuffed grouper, and another appetizer, bangin shrimp. My wife really enjoyed her pasta; she repeatedly said that it was among the best seafood pastas she had. I make very good seafood pasta myself and so I tried her dish, but I was nowhere as impressed as she was. I found the stuffed grouper to be somewhat under-salted and had to adjust the level of salt on it. My other appetizer, the bangin shrimp, was nice and had a good kick to it with some fried jalapeno bites along with the shrimp. The calamari were nice too, but I feel that both the bangin shrimp and calamari could have used a tad less oil. And on that point, it is the only time during our trip to Ocean City (or anytime in recent memory) when my daughter ended up having acidic burps for the rest of the day. That whole experience of seeing her uncomfortable was hard on us and moreover, coming on Christmas, it was also inconvenient as virtually all stores were closed. Finally, we found a 7-11 that was open, stopped there, and got Tums for our daughter before her acidic burps stopped - some two hours or more after her meal at Marlin earlier that afternoon. As far as service goes, it was OK but well short of being great. Our server, Jackie, was clearly busy and so our water glasses weren't refilled on time. We had to beckon to another wait staff to get us some water. Our checks also took a while to come out. What irked me the most about the place though was that when I had checked out their webpage, I got the impression that they would have happy hour prices which normally runs from 3 - 6 p.m. (Recall that we got there around 3:30 p.m.) They also list a lighter fare that we were hoping to order from because we didn't want to load up too much that late in the day and leave room for dinner later that night. However, as the server explained, the lighter fare option (that includes sandwiches) is not available on holidays. That fact would have been good for them to state clearly somewhere on their webpage (or on their Facebook page) because it would have likely made a difference in where we went to for lunch. All in all, while I am grateful that Marlin Moon was open on Christmas and gave us an easy and convenient dining option, under normal circumstances when more places are open, I would much rather try out other places before coming back here. read more

Breakfast was awesome!! Nice menu selections to choose from. We ordered from the classic breakfast menu. I had the old school which included two eggs your way. I opted for scrambled with cheddar cheese. Bacon and it's served with home fries. With the toast of your choice. My husband ordered the All American which included two eggs your way. Two pancakes, choice of meat and we are bacon lovers. Also a slice of toast. Everything was very good and so appealing. Sorry I didn't take pictures but I was very angry hungry. The Marlin Moon Restaurant inside the Doubletree hotel is really outstanding and has great staffing along with the food quality and pricing. Recently during my passage into town though I have noticed a change in the place setting with the silverware. The first change I really liked was the upscale makeover of the silverware rolled up inside the napkin and placed on the appetizer plate. I thought wow this little change makes the environment even cozier. Following the passage through town I stopped in for another round of great food and service and noticed all of the silverware settings were exposed on the bare table. Even though the tables are cleaned this can expose a potential contamination from hands, fingers or even patrons sneezing and everything gets exposed virally. You guys are the very best and please go back to the rolled-up version of the silverware either on the table or on top of the elegant place setting on the appetizer dish. Our server did the best he could. I think they were understaffed or undertrained for the valentines day crowd. My boyfriend and I had reservations at 6:30 for valentines day. We arrived on time and had to wait 20/25 minutes for our table. So I decided to go up to the bar to grab a drink while we wait. I wasn't even acknowledged. Sat there for 25 minutes trying to get a drink. Then our table was ready and the bartenders still didn't even acknowledge me but acknowledged the other couples on either side of me. My first drink took 30 minutes to get once we sat down. Food took 45 minutes to get. My boyfriend's sea bass had so many scales in, it cut my throat when I tried it. No flavor at all. We also asked for crab imperial for the top of the fish. Never received it. For almost a 50 dollar meal (with the imperial) it had one strip of fish (an inch wide and maybe 6/7 inches long. My boyfriend got a beer. It took 25 minutes. I had the steak crustini. It was alright. Not worth the price by any means. My first drink was yummy so I decided to try another drink. So I ordered a different drink. But they gave me the same drink over again. No big deal just asked for it to be fixed. They let me keep it and went to make my other drink. I tried the drink they gave me by mistake (that was suppose to be the same as the first drink), absolutely terrible. It took another 20 minutes for me to receive my espresso martini. It came with the extra drink in a cup inside another cup of ice. But it sat for so long that when I received it, it was just water. Marlin Moon is a gourmet seafood restaurant that opened in Ocean City, Maryland in 1999. It was founded by restaurateur and executive chef Gary Beach. The restaurant was originally located in West Ocean City under the name 'Reel Inn Grille' before changing to 'Marlin Moon Grille' two years later. Beach brought a menu to the public which consisted of high quality dishes made from fresh, locally-sourced seafood. It was voted 'Favorite Restaurant in the State' by the Restaurant Association of Maryland in 2009. When the building's lease eventually expired, Beach moved the Marlin Moon to Jacksonville, FL in 2013. In the summer of 2018, Beach would once again reopen the restaurant in Ocean City as 'Marlin Moon Restaurant & Bar' on the second floor of the DoubleTree by Hilton. My family and I recently visited Marlin Moon while we were on an East Coast Road Trip. We were actually staying at the DoubleTree by Hilton. My wife and I don't normally like hotel restaurants because they tend to be overpriced and overrated. However, Marlin Moon had great reviews, the menu sounded interesting and the prices seemed reasonable. First we spent the afternoon by the pool where we visited the Sandshark Pool Bar. The pool bar features the same menu that you'll find inside the bar at Marlin Moon. My wife ordered a "Beach Bellini" (peach vodka, yulupa cuvee brut champagne & peach purée) and I ordered the "Dark and Stormy" (dark rum and ginger beer). They were excellent cocktails to enjoy by the pool! Later at our dinner reservation, I ordered Evolution Craft Brewing Company's "Lot No. 3 IPA" and my wife ordered the "Key Lime Martini" (vanilla vodka, licor 43, light crème de cacao, & lime juice). For food, our son had the Buttered Pasta off of the Kid's Menu, my wife had the "Crab Imperial Stuffed Salmon" (Over Risotto and Grilled Asparagus), and I had the "Deep Fried Soft Shell Crabs" (Creole Mustard Sherry Cream, Diced Tomatoes, Crispy Bacon). Every dish was excellent! We also really loved the decor of the restaurant.
