When I first visited Ocean City in the summer of 1974, Phillips Crab House was the go to place for dinner. Now, 50 years later, Phillips is gone and many establishments advertise their Crabs as the best in OC. Having not been here since 2012, I need to scour the reviews to find where we could get the best take out seafood especially Maryland Crabs. Lo and behold, just steps away from our Courtyard Marriott is the Crab Stop. It's before season so many places are still closed but the Owner answered when I called, had a great sense of humor, and happily took my order for a designated pick up time. We arrived 10 minutes early and they had just completed the order, packed it up, and we were out the door in minutes. This is a Father/Son establishment. Dave (?) the Father is 85 and his son Tom (?) run this fine eatery. It's built for take out and there is no disappointment. We ordered 6 large crabs, 1# of Lump Crab and 2 ears of corn. Within minutes our table was covered with crab, crab shells, Old Bay, and we savored every minute of the delicious fresh sweet crab meat. First time buyer of Crab Stop and I'm really satisfied with the quality of their MD blue crabs which incidentally is the favorite of my 90 year old mom. That's the main reason why we stopped there. Price is competitive and reasonable as well as the cleanliness and orderliness of the place. Al, the owner as well as his sons provided us quality customer service. We wanted Steamed Crabs so we found this place 2 blocks from our Hotel. We ordered a Dozen Large Males with 2 Ears of Corn. They didn't look Large to me, more like Medium and they didn't have enough seasoning on them that I'm so used too. But they did have a nice sweet taste and the Ear of Corn were nice and crunchy. The seafood here is fantastic! The hush puppies are unlike anything we've ever tried--absolutely amazing. Everything from the mussels, crab legs, and shrimp to the coleslaw and potato salad was perfectly seasoned with Old Bay and cooked just right. We made our own little buffet in a room by the sea, and it was just perfect. Everything was delicious, and we'll definitely be coming back. On top of that, it's a family-owned business, and we had the chance to meet the owner--such a kind and genuine family. Highly recommend! read more

We're in OCM every few years and we decided on seafood at the house on the porch this year. I ordered in the am and the crabs were nice and hot at pick up. Fast friendly service but the highlight was the crabs. We got the large size and they were outstanding, no wonder why they've been there so long. Tiny bit of sticker shock at first but I didn't care once I got home with them. We also got a bunch of shrimp and they were clearly fresh and had not been frozen. Great job boys! read more

Memorial Day Family dinner pick up at Crab stop for half bushel of blue crabs. Total cost was $180 for exactly 36 male crabs. It has good enough meat for early crab season. We bought a bag of steam clams for $36, tasty but too small. The service was good as not many people in the small store and she gave us the free crab paper which has a signed for $3. I would definitely hit this place again instead of seafood buffet restaurant for $59/person. read more

Crab Stop is a wonderful family-owned seafood carryout right near the end of the Ocean City Boardwalk. After calling around several restaurants for a half bushel to-go order, Crab Stop offered the best price, value and return time. The medium crabs we got were very heavy, meaty and perfectly cooked and seasoned. We also ordered four lbs of the juiciest, meatiest shrimp ever. I felt very safe going in and out of the store. True OC! I got crab meat here to make crab cakes. I tried calling one other place before here, and I got some recording. When I called Carb Stop, I got a friendly human right away. The service was just as good went I went in. I almost hesitate to write the review because it seems like a hidden treasure and part of me would like it to stay that way. Saw the reviews and thought to give this place a try. Got half a dozen large males, 1lb snow crab legs, 1lb mussels, and a lb of large shrimp. Out of the 6 large males, only 4 were pretty heavy but can't say the same about the other 2. There were 2 crabs that were extremely light but the crabs were fresh. The mussels were perfect, cooked perfectly same goes for the shrimp. The seasoning on the shrimp was neatly done as it wasn't too much or too little. Absolutely love their cocktail sauce as well. Crab legs was really good as well, size was good and a good amount of seasoning. Overall besides the 2 light crabs, this place was worth the money, will definitely be back again, not to mention the friendly service! read more
