I am normal a coffee type meaning straight coffee but as I love cardamom drinks and have not had one since the signature Starbucks in NYC took it off the menu - had to try the cardamom latte! It was delicious and not too sweet which was my only concern! Would definitely have again! Has the peach parfait for breakfast , that was good but a little too sweet for me, much preferred the avocado toast that my husband had which had a balsamic glaze which was an unusual but fantastic twist and we also had the churro waffle stick which was so, so good! I often drive by on my way out of WC, and I always make a mental note to visit. Well, a few months ago, I finally did! Rooted is always bustling with people, no matter the time. This vegan & plant-based cafe has indoor and an outdoor (parklet) seating. We originally came in to try their coffee, but the avocado toasts ended up calling our names, too. We got an order of the green goddess and avocado dream (with extra chili flakes on my half). One order comes with two pieces, so my bf and I traded one half each to try both. Both were delicious, but personally, I thought the green goddess had a slight edge. I also got the "Get Stoked" coffee, but admittedly cannot remember what's in it. But I do remember that I liked it! I am a big fan of drinking coffee and going to coffee shops. When it comes to Rooted Coffee, it has became my top choice of local coffee shops thus far. The coffee is decent. They have great amount of flavors and seasonal drinks. My go to is their iced Lavendar oat latte but I also had their Vanilla Mint. The coffee I standard and the taste is subtle but good enough. This coffee shop is so good to those who avoid dairy. Most of their products are plant based. Even their cold foam they use is plant based which is amazing. I don't think there is a surcharge for alternative milk. The service is great. They all seem nice and friendly. The ambiance is immaculate. I really love the vibes and the plant aesthetics. It's very cozy and also feels very communal. Limited seating to be honest. I think it is a good place to get some work done when it's not too busy. Feedback for the day - Monday! Enjoyed the Costa Rican drip coffee after a superb workout which had medium acidity, notes of earthy tones with subtle hints of cloves, and some spice. I love this place, no doubt and had given 4-5 stars every time because of the atmosphere, food, and warm feeling. Food ordered today was Breakfast Sammy and requested over "half croissant" as wheat does not suit me all the time. Marco was present and added an option with extra avocado which I opted with it. I waited for the food for 20-25 min which is ok too as I enjoyed my amazing coffee sips. However, when my breakfast arrived, they had not followed instructions, avocado had "no taste", the vegan sausage was not warm, and the provolone cheese was not melting. As a grad school students, I am always searching for places that have good food and coffee so I can stay for long hours getting homework done. I came here on a Friday and the coffee shop is clean, and the food and coffee were delicious! Absolutely amazing! However, this place seems to me more like a social gathering coffee shop more so than a good place to study. The music was a bit loud but the major problem I had was with the internet accessibility. My school's database did not let me log in at all. I kept getting a message that the network wasn't safe and I couldn't connect. I need my online database to look at assignments and also to access the school library to search for articles. Unfortunately I couldn't so 2/5 for that. Please get a better internet service. I've never had this problem anywhere before so it was super strange and I was so bummed out because the food and coffee are amazing! They get a 5/5 for the food though. I had the Make It Sunny' Toast which comes with chickpeas and it was delicious! One of the best avocado toast I've had. I also ordered a Matcha Latte with Macadamia Milk and it was delicious! Amazing entirely plant-based cafe here in Walnut Creek! I always make sure to stop by whenever I'm in Walnut Creek, it's downtown and has shops all around it- great location. Ample indoor and outdoor seating, with free wifi and bathrooms as well! Milks are non-dairy: oat, almond, soy, macadamia, and sweet pea, all without any extra charge. My favorite drinks lately have been the vanilla mint latte (sooo refreshing) and summer's seasonal matcha with strawberry cold foam. I absolutely love Rooted's waffles! You can buy a half or a full waffle, and even though they're gluten-free they taste "normal". Definitely go for the chunky monkey- it's slathered in peanut butter with choc chips, banana, and maple syrup. The wait was short, and the takeout box arrived. The avocado toast filled the long rectangular box, and it was cut into three pieces. It was large enough to be shared with a friend -- in which I did. I ordered the one called "Make it fresh," where in addition to the avocado and salt and pepper, sprouts and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar was poured on top. The sprouts covered the whole toast, and I loved how pretty the leaves were (purple!) I took a bite of the toast, and it was very good. The avocado spread was seasoned well with a good amount of salt, so it wasn't bland or tasteless. The sprouts gave a good spicy kick and the crisp texture. I also loved the bread; not too tough and also not too soft that it crumbles in each bite. It held up the thick layer of avocado and the vinegar strongly. I drive from LA to come here... 6 whole whopping hours. (Okay maybe I have family here too, but Rooted is my first stop lol) I found the pleasant hill location some time back and absolutely fell in love. I was so excited to hear about their new Locust shop as my family lives in Clayton and it's a bit closer for me. Wow. Did they hit the location jackpot. Parking in the back and space for outside seating in the front. The vibe is still much the same with an immense amount of space inside to sit and hangout. They have a cold section and some new fun looking salads, which I have yet to try but they look amazing per usual. My go to is a matcha with macadamia nut milk. LOVE LOVE LOVE their matcha that they use (Mitzuba) quality and delicious. I pair it with the avocado toast make it sunny extra chili flakes. Lemme take a second to praise this toast. First off, I have yet to have a more decadent avocado toast. And I live in LA. You really get your money's worth and it's so unique. The waffle sticks are tasty and you can't go wrong with any of the baked goods. Oh and the smoothies! Man they are tasty. I really haven't had anything from here that I haven't loved. Stopped by for coffee and breakfast around 9:30am on Labor Day. It was quite busy but the line moved quickly. It's a great vibe at Rooted, they have a wonderful array of food and drinks on the menu, and I've found the service to be excellent the two times I have been there. My wife and I each got a coffee - a cardamom maple latte for me and pumpkin spice latte (first of the season!) for her. Oftentimes, at other coffee places, these drinks will be overly syrupy and sweet but they made them perfectly without us having to ask for less sweet. From their plant-based food menu, I got a Harvest Salad and a (super tasty) maple donut. My wife ordered the Avocado Dream - Make It Sunny (and a super dry, not so sweet GF scone). I'm not too proud to say "she won!" with her Avocado Dream choice. :-) My salad was pretty "meh" but her meal was super tasty and filling. We sat at the cute "parklet" seating outside but there are also plenty of spots to sit inside. The two coffees and food items were pretty spendy at around $50 before tip, so I'd consider it a nice splurge. Croissant breakfast sandwich: so delicious. The croissant was a perfect flaky buttery consistency and I believe it's a house made egg. It reminds me a lot of Just egg. Maple & blueberry donut: the donuts gave me Whole Foods vibes so nothing special. I just ate the icing on top haha. Cookie: one of the best vegan cookies I've had. Gooey and crispy. Waffle: the lemon whip cream was so good. Unfortunately I let the waffle sit for an hour and by that time it was gross and soggy so please eat it immediately. I didn't get any maple syrup but maybe it doesn't come with it. Avocado toast: I really didn't enjoy the smashed chickpea and it had a lot of onion if it. The bread was really hard too but it was okay. Brown sugar iced latte with hunny foam: one of the best lattes I've had and the hunny foam definitely elevates the drink. This is a must try.
