An early breakfast at a Walnut Creek classic - Sunrise Bistro! We enjoyed the breakfast burrito with bacon (and a side of bacon- small Portion not worth it). The burrito was good. I enjoyed Chelsea's omelette- egg whites with broccoli, Jack cheese, zucchini, spinach, avocado. Served with the sides- love their potatoes and the homemade dill bread. Always a healthy and delicious start to the day here!

Was hitting up a few Walnut Creek places early on a Saturday and popped in for breakfast. Avocado toast on super seeded bread is always reliable. Biscuit sandwich with sausage was really good. The biscuit was fresh and moist, with fluffy scrambled eggs and a great sausage patty. Both items were solid.

Came right before a huge rush so got lucky to grab a table. Got the special with scrambled eggs, bacon, and the lemon ricotta pancakes. Have the pancakes with only the blueberry sauce- skip the syrup. The coffee wasn't the best but the biscotti it came with was delicious.

My favorite Saturday morning breakfast spot in Walnut Creek. I love the food and the incredible staff who do such a great job making you feel at home here. I've never had a bad experience. The wait times can be on the longer side during peak times, but it's worth the wait. The indoor seating is not too crowded somehow, despite how many people show up for breakfast, and outdoor seating is also an option when the weather permits. Their lunch offerings are also solid.

I realized I'm way overdue for reviewing this place, it's been over five years since I wrote my last review for them! We came here today for brunch and were seated in the back. It's a small room near the restrooms which wasn't my favorite but my fiance was starving so we took what was first available. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. I ordered the brisket hash and he had the breakfast burrito. The hash was great and hit the spot- I wouldn't say it's something I'll crave but it was good. The burrito was massive and packed with the perfect ratio of filling, the only downfall was that the eggs were underseasoned and it came with a really small cup of salsa that left you begging for more.

I love how this diner bakes their own baked goods! From the biscotti given with their coffee, biscuits on sandwiches, breads, croissants, muffins, cookies etc- all made in house and are so delicious. I really appreciate restaurants that have a homemade vibe vs using processed/packaged ingredients. We went on a Friday late morning and there was a 5-10 minute wait for a table. We ordered the biscuit breakfast sandwich, avocado toast on seeded bread with salmon, and lemon ricotta pancakes. To go, we took an oat bran muffin, zucchini bread, and chocolate chip cookie- all delicious! The biscuit was buttery and tasty and the lemon ricotta pancakes were delicious and perfect amount of lemon flavor. The avocado toast with the seeded bread was for health lol the seeded bread is gluten free and not your standard piece of toast fyi! I still ate it all! Service was so friendly and you can tell everyone was in a great mood! I would come again!

The food selection is great. A lot of seating inside or out. The food was delicious and was a great opinion for a late brunch. The atmosphere is You would order first and then grab a seat. 4/5

I miss my old neighborhood "...Coming home after school Flying my bike past the gates of the factories My mom doing the laundry Hanging out shirts in the dirty breeze And after it rains there's a rainbow... Everything's the same back in my little town" Paul Simon I miss being able to walk to my favorite restaurants. Walking to a movie theater to see the latest show on a whim was such a simple pleasure. Sunrise Bistro is one of those places I cherished where you can get a well made - home made breakfast - the kind your mom used to make you on Saturday morning while you watched your favorite cartoons. Alisha took the time to seat me in an area of the restaurant that was a bit more quite and less rushed. She is the star of this review. Thank you Alisha. And ooohhhhh those Lemon Ricotta pancakes... RICHARD'S SPECIAL $16.95 Two eggs any style, two pancakes, Canadian and Lemon Ricotta pancakes. There are other variations if you fancy. Everything was perfectly cooked. Nothing in the preparation seemed rushed. Matt says if you find yourself in Downtown Walnut Creek and you are doing some shopping at Nordstrom or Macy's be sure to drop by Sunrise Bistro for a breakfast experience you won't forget. And be sure to say "hey" to Alisha.

I was recommended this by some nurses who mentioned they get it catered quite often. Had the brisket hash which was fairly good. I expect it to be a little more fall apart brisket and not cubes of steak. Still good flavor. Great service and a cute outdoor patio to sit at as well.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Got the Joey's turkey sandwich. My new favorite sandwich! Tip, get it with BOTH cranberry AND avocado. It's simply divine! Ordered a side salad, which is a whopper in size and colorful as a rainbow. I could feel my body gaining a couple extra days of life with all the vitamins! Try it. Staff and incredible. Parking right out front.

Sunrise Bistro in Walnut Creek, CA 5 Stars ! For Ordering, Cooking Staff, and Servers. Heard so much about this place and finally had to try it ! Very delicious chunks of meat on the Corned Beef Hash. Modified the two eggs to Over Easy. . . . . yolks to drizzle Cooked to Order, arrived to table in less that 5 minutes. Became very full and satisfied. Took home my side of country potatoes. One, two, three, four, FIVE Stars ! I approve this rating, Jay M.

Really should come to Sunrise Bistro more often. Unfortunately, the last time I was here was in 2018 when my Dad was admitted to Kaiser Walnut Creek. Today (April 2025) I'm here again because it was my Mom's turn. She was admitted last night and I'm back to spend the day with her. I didn't have the time or inclination to cook. My sister and I shared a scramble for breakfast before going to the hospital down the street. Yummy perfectly cooked eggs. Highlight for me was the roasted sweet potatoes. A great alternative to the typical potato hash, slightly sweet and feels lighter than regular potatoes. Also enjoyed my cappuccino. The large cup was awesome for curling both hands around to warm them. The next day, Mom was upgraded to eating regular food. Ordered fried eggs and pancakes for her. Sunrise Bistro is a nice casual restaurant with diner type food with a modern touch. Mom's home now but we will be back, hopefully with a hospital visit not included.

Ask the Community - Sunrise Bistro

Do they serve gluten-free pancakes or gluten-free waffles?

They do, but they use the same pans as gluten containing foods to make them, so if you're concerned about cross contamination they aren't safe for celiacs.

What are brunch hours on weekdays? Weekends?

    7:00am-3:00pm every day

Do they offer brunch daily or just on weekends?

Daily. It's a hybrid of order at the counter and they serve you by table number.

    Do they have bottomless mimosas?

I dont think so. Sad to say but, Its not the type of place you want bottomless mimosa's. It has a older starbucks/taqueria vibe. You have to order at a walk up counter, you get somewhat rushed to place an order, then you are given a number and you… Read more

When will Sunrise Bistro be open for indoor dining?

Well I was just there and there aren't even and tables inside so I think nothing is planned. Outdoor eating there is very nice

Has this place reopened for outdoor seating?

Yes! They are open for outdoor seating.

Is this restaurant open for outdoor dining on their patio?

Just went last weekend and it still looks to be pickup/delivery only.

When I called the phone number to place an order it goes to their catering business line and you cant order from there so I don't know what's going on?

I'm not sure either but the phone does in fact a ring to their catering service. It's a small family owned business and I suspect it's all one phone line. I received a call back immediately following a message I had left, but this was regarding… Read more

I've tried the best BBQ that Austin, Nashville, Memphis and Atlanta have to offer…read more I've watched "Chef's Table: BBQ" series on Netflix a number of times. I think that Sauced BBQ is as good as any BBQ I've tried throughout the US. This past weekend I traveled across the bay and ordered the Third Rack of Spare Ribs with a side of Potato Salad and Mac n Cheese. The Spare Ribs - were fall of the bone tender. And the meat was so rich and flavorful. The Mac n Cheese is some of the best I've had. And the Potato Salad while it was super good but had way too much mayonnaise. But I'd probably order both again as sides! Now for the not so good. Sauce was out of Burnt Ends. Ugghhhhh! Every time I visit, I've counted on Burnt Ends being available. I understand they are a scarce commodity, but it was disappointing they were not on the menu. That's how good they are! One comment. I don't know who's decision it was to add a video arcade to the restaurant, but I sincerely felt I was in Vegas at a cheap restaurant on the strip. The place is already pretty loud but to add screaming kids and video games seems a bit odd to me. Just seems completely out of place and doesn't add to the strengths of the restaurant - creating the best environment to serve some of the best BBQ in the Bay Area. Matt says check out Sauced after you finish shopping at Nordstrom or Macy's. You'll love the BBQ. Just make sure you are seated opposite from the video arcade.

It was plenty of seating, we actually got to pick where we wanted since it was not busy. Of course since the Warriors were playing we chose right next to a huge screen. So for the food, I'd say they had a pretty good menu. I love sausage links and was a bit disappointed that they don't serve them. So we both went with the 2 meat combo; ribs and brisket & tri tip, not too bad but I've had better. The portion size was good, it was tasty but not hittin like I was anticipating! Then for sides the Mac was pretty good not hot and the beans were yummy. Ummm the cornbread was a bit dry so I think I'll pass on that next time. They have an area with video games which is great for kids to stay occupied too. Also, the restrooms were clean also which is a plus.

They have also revamped the menu and though some old favorites are missing - we enjoyed what we tried - namely the grilled artichokes which are a slightly different recipe to what was previously on their menu but absolutely delicious with that same wood-fired taste and accompanied by two dipping sauces that was fantastic. Also had the artichoke dip which was also really good with lots of chunks of artichoke! The only thing that was unnecessary was the sour cream - unless the intent was to mix into the dip and salsa which did not really go - the dip itself was fine and stood out on its own. Service was okay; they appeared short staffed as we had a significant wait to get the check, but food and atmosphere were great!

While nothing was bad, it definitely wasn't exciting. Artichoke & spinach dip was very good, but served with chips, sour cream & salsa....was just very odd. Corn croquettes were also tasty, 5 little balls with a plate full of roasted chillies... again...a bit odd. Burger.. something different next time. Salad... this was the prettiest item ordered. All in all... they need to work on the menu. Dinner was highly disappointing on the food front. It looks like would be a wonderful place to come for drinks.

Super awesome. The kitchen is wide open. Everything was super clean and well put together. Service - 5/5 Great recommendations from the staff. The house slaw and banana pudding were clearly popular choices, and they definitely knew what they were doing when guiding the order. I told them it's my first time. These were what they recommended me. One of the staff actually gave a piece of brisket to try. Very nice of them to give a free sample before I order so I know what I'm expecting. Food - 4.5/5 Dish Ordered: Dino Rib, Brisket ( 1/2 lb), House Slaw, Banana Pudding 5/5 Dino Rib Wow. This was the highlight. The meat was unbelievably tender--every single part of it. Usually with ribs, especially the upper portions, you get some toughness or dryness depending on how it's smoked. Not here. This one was melt-in-your-mouth soft, juicy throughout, and you could practically pull it apart effortlessly. The seasoning was perfect--balanced, not too salty, not bland, just right. Every bite hit. 4/5 Brisket ( 1/2 lb) About two slices. Visually, it looked great--nice color, juicy, with a solid fatty portion. But after eating the Dino rib, it felt a bit underwhelming. Still good, just didn't hit as hard flavor-wise. Might be better appreciated on its own next time. 5/5 House Slaw This paired extremely well with the meat. Sweet, tangy, and refreshing. The hint of peanuts adds a nice nutty layer that makes it stand out. It cuts through the richness of the meat perfectly. 5/5 Banana Pudding Not your typical pudding--it's more like a banana cake. The sweetness not too overwhelming, smells amazing, and just hits the spot. A great way to finish the meal. Additional Comments The Dino rib alone makes this place worth it. It sets a very high bar, which honestly makes everything else feel secondary. The best Rib I have ever had in my life so far. Important thing to note is that the rib will be weighed. I don't think you can ask to get the portion you want like you can with the brisket. My Dino rib came out to be 1.6lb. The sides and dessert complement the meal really well and round out the experience. Price is bit is definitely in the higher end but the experience is definitely worth it.

A $300 order can fit nicely into a regular paper grocery bag with room to spare, so make sure your wallet is mentally prepared so it does not go into shock. We had a sandwich. A pound of brisket and some baby back. My advice... unless you really want to suck the gravy off the bones or want to bring gift to your canine friend, don't get anything with bones as everything is by weight and I don't know about you, I can't chew on the bones. After close to $80, I had some meat off the rib and a piece of brisket, and craving some instant noodles ... The place is very transactional and noisy. But that is how it should be with a busy place where majority of orders are to-go.
