The prices are great and the portions are good, but the food and coffee are not worth coming back for. Maybe they just had an off day, but the experience was bad enough that we will not be returning. The bread items (French toast, cinnamon roll) left a strange, very unpleasant aftertaste in our mouths. The cinnamon roll tasted good before the weird aftertaste, but the French toast wasn't soaked in batter long enough because it should fall apart. We tried to wash down the strange aftertaste with coffee, but the coffee wasn't very good either. It was like dirty water, with very little taste at all. Maybe the majority of people don't like to actually taste their coffee, and they are catering to them. My eggs benedict came out with a quarter of an egg shell still on one egg, which I didn't think to look for, so my first bite came with a very unpleasant crunch. Since I didn't see my server, I tried to flag down a few others and was ignored. When I finally did find my own server, she was very polite and apologetic, and they brought out a new dish, but they didn't offer up any compensation for me eating egg shell. The benedict itself was very mediocre and not very flavorful. I'm not sure how this place got so many high reviews, but I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Stepping into Ronnie's was like taking a step into your grandmothers 3Bed/2.5Bath estate in Peoria, IL. The wood panels and beige carpet takes you back to simpler times... there was no Covid-19, the Rams were still in STL and Kim K was in love with Chris Humphrys. The yellow walls (which I believe to be Pantone PMS 1215 or PMS 1205) scream southern comfort in a Midwestern town, like when Paula Dean is the special guest speaker at the annual CornCon in Bettendorf, IA. Each seat at every table was set with a vintage coffee mug that strangely resembled the blockbuster logo. side bar: Everyday millions of people use Netflix and other online TV streaming services and never bat an eye. Due to these streaming services we lost a piece of what makes America the greatest country in the world... and that's $1-3 night movie rentals from Blockbuster. They always say, "you don't know what you got until it's gone, they paved paradise and put up a parking lot". So I challenge each of you to take a break from watching that one episode of The Office® where Jim kisses Pam in the rain and reach out to your cousin who worked part time at their local Blockbuster and tell them you love them because they miss it as much as you do. ...continued: To sum this all up, I knew the moment that I stepped into Ronnie's, my taste buds were about to hop on a direct flight to flavor town. I'd first like to give a special shoutout to our waitress who left not only the water pitcher but two pots of coffee (one caf/one decaf) on our table. I don't know if that's the standard at Ronnie's or she could tell we weren't thriving on this fine Monday morning. I need to take time to speak about the one con in my Ronnie's Restaurant experience and let me be the first to say, it wasn't the food. The table agreed that the physical menu "had too much going on". This menu could give Cheesecake Factory and a CVS receipt a run for its money. Most of the time I enjoy options but when it's 10 am after the Chief's home opener, a lengthy menu could feel overwhelming for my brain that is running on 10%. After over coming menu induced mental destress, it was time to make a decision on grub. My mind always goes to breakfast burrito at first and then circles back to specialty pancakes and then right back to breakfast burrito. The only obstacle here was the multiple choices and styles of burritos which gave my mind another pretzel to untangle. I settled on Ken's Cadillac of Burrito's for a few reasons. 1) Like a Cadillac the name sells itself, I like my burrito like I like my cars.... Reliable and in one piece. 2) It contained chorizo, which is the king of breakfast meats and 9/10 I'm going to chose that option.. because why not? 3) It came in a spinach wrap, which I found unique and had never been given this option so who am I to pass up on this opportunity? ...side bar: I considered getting the "The Burrito" (side side bar: I am not one to knock someone's creativity but is "The Burrito" all we could think of? Name it after me, at least it would be interesting and an interesting talking point if someone cared to ask.) I ordered an orange juice to drink because I'm a child and my stomach can't handle coffee. They garnished the rim with an orange slice like they needed to label it so they wouldn't mistake it for apple juice, which is common. I guess? 10/10 on being refreshing though. I ordered a cinnamon roll that came out before our meal and it was covered it what seemed to be a 2 liter bottles amount of icing. Which to be fair the cinnamon roll is only as good as the icing that covers it, so who am I to judge the excess amount used on this grapefruit sized baked good. Side bar...If you've made it this far, you either feel obligated or your genuinely curios but either way I tip my cap and thank you. ... continued: My burrito arrived on a lukewarm plate with a bed of hash-browns on the side. The hash-browns were in a weird middle ground of being crunch and mushy. I covered them in hot sauce and ketchup which could have played a factor but I like to think perfectly cooked hash-browns could survive any flood of condiments and who knows maybe the guy who regularly makes the hash-browns was out today because his goldfish had the flu. The burrito was breath taking and honestly should come with the chipotle sauce already because without it, the entree would have been dry and my raving would review would be more of criticism. I know this seems like such a long review just to say the burrito was good, but who are you to complain? Would you have told Van Gogh that Starry Night was a little blurry? Couldn't be me, because art is in the eyes of the artist and as someone who took Art I, II and III in high school, I can relate. Finally, I would give Ronnie's Restaurant a 4.632/5 and will be going back. I'd like to state that the Bible verse copied on the recipe was a nice touch, I didn't read it but felt encouraged by just knowing it was there. read more

Yes, yes, yes! Kate's Kitchen South is here. After enjoying Kate's Kitchen in the Northland for years Ronnie's opened up with little fanfare in a strip of shops on 87th Street in Lenexa. It came with such little marketing, that I didn't even know it existed until about a week ago, nearly four months after it's opening. Everything positive thing I have to say about Kate's I echo about Ronnie's. The menus, in fact, are identical. Same great tastes now being served down south. This location is well-staffed by friendly servers moving in an elegant orchestra around the kitchen and floor. There were so many staffers here I thought they would surely bump into each other eventually. Not once - they were in true unison working together to serve the patrons. Will definitely be back with my family. Super family friendly environment run like a business should be run. Kudos to the owners and management, this is restauranting done right. read more

Diced potatoes, browned nicely and crispy and while creamy inside, not really a lot of flavor. Eggs properly cooked to over easy but the waitress didn't order my extra egg. I don't ding for these things, it was busy on a Sunday morning. I also ordered a single pancake because; carbs. And it was good but broke apart a little too easily for my taste. This is a low three star rating. Not because it was bad, it just wasn't anything to write home about. I came here for breakfast and had the eggs Benedict with spinach, tomato and Canadian bacon. The bacon was good, had a nice smoked flavor. The poached egg was too runny for my taste, and there was not enough hollandaise sauce. Service was good, came on a busy Sunday morning and we waited maybe 5 minutes. Lots of seating so the line moved fast. It's also family owned which I appreciated. Also good prices, nothing overly expensive. Two people are for $22 which included coffee. I'm on the hunt for a local hidden gem for breakfast and this just wasn't it. read more

A Great Little-Big Place in Lenexa to Go for Breakfast or Lunch. We came in during a snow storm and were told it was a good time because they are usually on a 30-45 minute wait on Sundays. This place is very popular and rightly so--they serve delicious breakfast items and I'm sure great lunch meals. At the time of this review, they've only been around a little more than two years and boy have they knocked it out of the park. I ordered their Ken's Cadillac of Burritos ($8), stuffed with scrambled eggs, chorizo, avocado, tomatoes, spinach, and wrapped in a spinach tortilla and topped with salsa, combo cheese, sour cream and chives and served with potatoes. Holy crap was it delicious, hearty, and flavorful--a true Cadillac of burritos. My wife ordered the same thing and loved it too and we both agreed the combination of avocados and chorizo is a match made is heaven. One of our friends ordere their Breakfast Sandwich ($7), which came with two fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon or ham and melted cheese and served on a grilled croissant with seasonal fruit and potatoes. She loved it. Another ordered a fun creation: they Cinnamon Roll French Toast Platter ($8), which was two pieces of Cinnamon Roll French Toast served with two eggs and your choice of meat. This friend had a sweet tooth and absolutely loved this--what a neat idea, I'm going to have to try it at home. Another friend ordered the Burrito Scrambler ($8), scrambled eggs, flour tortilla, sausage, bacon, onion, black beans, combo cheese, tomatoes, jalapeños, served with salsa and sour cream on the side and potatoes. It was well stuffed and she enjoyed it. Our kids ordered waffles and pancakes, also served with fruit and potatoes. They scarfed the food down quick, which leads me to recommend upping the portion for hungry kids--especially when you serve them delicious food. Overall, this is a great place for breakfast, brunch, and/or lunch. Definitely go here for a nice start to a lazy weekend or to cure a hangover. But make sure you avoid the rush! read more

My first dining experience at this restaurant was very good. Although I met some friends for lunch, I opted to order breakfast as did one of my other friends. I had the California omelette which was cooked to perfection, and the salsa on the side was very tasty. It was flavorful but not too spicy. The breakfast potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, just the way I like them. One of my friends had the chicken salad sandwich which she said was very good, and the other one had a salad with grilled chicken that she enjoyed. The service was excellent and our waitress was very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant and will definitely visit again. read more

In my ongoing search for culinary perfection I was happy to find Ronnie's Restaurant. It's probably worth mentioning that I'm not a fan of franchise restaurants and often seek out locally owned establishments that serve real food for real people and I'm happy to report that Ronnie's really delivered. Considering that this place has only been open a few weeks, it' understandable that they are still working out a few bugs. Our meal was a bit delayed but before asking our server about our orders we were greeted by the manager with free complimentary home made cinnamon rolls that were amazing.... Great touch. We went to Ronnie's in search of the perfect pork tenderloin and boy did they deliver. The size was modest compared to some other places we frequent but they were more than large enough to fill us up.. The breading was crisp, seasoning was perfect and the thickness of the pork tenderloin was spot on... As my people would say, "Them's some damn good eats"... Well done fellers.. We stopped in for a late breakfast this morning and were pleasantly surprised by this new Lenexa addition. The staff were all friendly, service was prompt and attentive, the food was very tasty and prices, reasonable. What's not to like? I had the fancy spinach tortilla breakfast burrito and Mary had one of the scramblers, both came with potatoes and the scrambler also came with an English muffin. I would re visit this place and maybe try something different the eggs Benedict I ordered were the corn beef Hash which made my English toast soggy and the eggs was a little over poached and not runny like I would like it. The hollandaise sauce was good. My husband loved his omelet and it was good filled with lots of filling and a good side of fries potatoes made for a second nice breakfast for him.
