Absolutely adorable. The vibe is so up my alley. Everything from the minute we pulled up was cute and kitchy and adorable and looked so purposeful but also so simple and executed SO well. I love places that cling to one style and really specialize in something. The place does brunch like fire. Everything we order was amazing. Biscuits and Gravy were 100% homemade. The Whole order is TWO whole biscuits and I'd say 3 full ladles of the most flavorful sausage gravy I've ever partaken. And I LOVE biscuits and gravy. My husband had the French toast. The bacon. crispy bacon was delicious. The eggs were done perfect and the toast was deliciously fluffy. My daughter had the salmon Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was fresh and so perfectly made. Yum. I will be getting eggs Benedict next time we come. My son got the freshest fruit cup of strawberries, oranges, and blueberries. And the wheat toast was nutty and delicious. All of the staff were incredible and adorable and so helpful for these first timers with questions. 5 stars. Will be there Everytime I visit town!
Cool spot. It's a little confusing because you order at the counter in the back and then they seat you. So you're kind of waiting in line to order until they can seat you so it can be a little odd. But while you wait, you can admire the huge creepy lady eating soup that's painted on the wall. yikes hahaha. The food is decent. I have never been blown away by anything here, as it's not the best brunch spot but it's definitely still cute and a vibe.
I went here with a friend one random morning, and it was a really nice place. I had bacon French toast and eggs, and my food was really good. My friend had the strawberry matcha, which I tried and it was really great. I had the orange juice which was one of the most freshest orange juices I've ever had. I think the vibe is really nice for a casual breakfast, whether they want to go alone or with someone else. I will say, a space can get pretty tight, but I would definitely go again. Oh yeah, and service.. amazing! You do pay before you sit down and watch your food, just wanted to make folks aware.
This place is so cute! When you walk in you immediately had to the left and there's a line that has the menus in chalk so you can review them while you wait which I thought was a really nice touch. When you get to the front you can order and they've got a great assortment of pastries, right there for you to pick from which we did. They were a Scotch too sweet for my taste, but I can see how most people would just love them. Definitely felt homemade not mass produced which I also love. The vibes were immaculate. I would say very organic less trending more authentic. The food was really good. The pancakes in particular were really really tasty. Like a 10 out of 10 would recommend if you have anything here make sure you at least get a side pancake or it's wrapped in a pancake. The coffee is also self service and they have a little coffee station which is nice. I also appreciate that you don't sit until you are fully ordered so basically people can't park at tables which is really nice. The outdoor seating space right on the sidewalk is nice. That's where we chose to sit. There are lots of large tables if you have a lot of people, but also a lot of tables were two, which was perfect for us. Overall, we look forward to going back and trying something new.!
We had a nice experience on a Sunday. We arrive right before the rush hit. Food came out hot and fresh, service was kind and helpful. The pancakes were huge and delicious. Hubs got the kitchen sink and said it was good. Will be back!
GET THE ELVIS Best thing we ate hands down! The crispy caramelized pieces of the bananas and the caramel syrup was the star! The toast was light and fluffy but soaked up everything well without being soggy (PS ITS ALSO VG) The monte cristo was flavorful but not our favorite. The coffee was amazing, not too bitter and smooth! The seasonal drinks we got were so refreshing and very vibrant. The pancake could feed a family of four...or one grown man who loves pancakes. Definitely a showstopper size wise. Staff is friendly and so fun! This is a queer friendly establishment and they love to vibe with all who come. It's a must! Expect a line! Order and pay at counter before seating your party.
My wife and I hadn't been to Succotash for years and I thought we were due for a visit after it was featured in the KC Star. I really wanted to get some fresh squeezed OJ, and I scratched that itch. I've always enjoyed the juiced options here. I ordered a Build Your Own breakfast burrito with bacon, sausage gravy, mushrooms and roasted red peppers. I was beyond satisfied with that choice. My wife ordered the pancakes and the pancakes are good but there's something different about the syrup. We don't like it, and that's why I stayed away from the pancakes. Everyone working there was very friendly. They helped us get setup at a table with a high chair for our toddler.
I had been looking forward to visiting Succotash to experience their unique take on a European-style breakfast fused with American -- especially Midwestern and Southern -- influences. This place immediately caught my attention with its creative and distinctive menu offerings. Their pancakes have their own twist, the French toast is unlike any I've had elsewhere, and even the Hollandaise sauce for their Benedicts has a unique flavor profile. Succotash is set in a charming, vintage building that gives off a cozy, nostalgic vibe -- like stepping into a beloved old diner with character. I ordered the French toast, which was absolutely outstanding, and also tried one of their omelets, which was delicious as well. There's still so much on the menu that I'm eager to go back and try. The process here is casual: it's first come, first serve. You order and pay at the counter first, then find an open table. There's no reservation system, but seating moves quickly thanks to the super efficient service. The staff are exceptionally friendly, making the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. Parking is plentiful, which is always a bonus in the city. If you're looking for a creative, laid-back breakfast or brunch spot in Kansas City, Succotash is definitely worth a visit!
I was initially frightened when I saw the setup here: you wait in a long line, order, get a number, then sit down. The space is tiny and space is elbow-to-elbow...how could this possibly work?! Well, the system just works. I don't know how, but it does. The input flow magically matches the output flow. I ordered the pork has and grabbed a stool at the bar. It arrived disturbingly fast. Almost food-court-Chinese-fast. It was plated beautifully and tasted incredible. My only critique is that I wish it came with a house-made hot sauce rather than the assortment of spicy vinegars. I was so impressed that the very next day I came here again! This is my favorite type of breakfast joint, everything is housemate, and a great mixing in melting of old school and new school breakfast ideas!
Service was fantastic and everyone was so friendly--our cashier came back multiple times to wish me happy birthday The pancakes ARE MASSIVE and my new obsession. I also tried the Cubano, a refreshing blended juice, which was admittedly a little pricey.
5/5 10/10 Service, atmosphere & food ... FIRE I had just won the overall at a bodybuilding show the night before & they had a bodybuilder omelette on the menu... it. Was. Perfect. It's exactly what I would have ordered, lol.
Best breakfast burrito ever, I get the pesto in it and it smacks. Best matcha I've ever had, specifically the berry one they had this past spring. AND if I remember correctly they don't charge for non-dairy milk in drinks, like thank god someone gets it. The nicest people work here, I kid you not my friends and I were standing and waiting for a 5 person table to open and not 5 minutes goes by 1 2 person table gets up and this sweet man cleaned off tables and pulled them together so quick AND evened them out with napkins under the legs. I mean the best place ever ever.
First time here, and compared to other reviews I think I got them on an off day. Showed up just after lunch time, it was super slow, only about 5 other customers. Person taking my order was very nice, even if I had to repeat myself. Ordered a coffee and the ham Benedict, sub salad for the potatoes. No one gave me a coffee cup so I ended up asking the barista for one. No big deal, just odd since they explain it is self serve. The Benedict...was soooo blanketed in hollandaise I actually scraped half of it off. That's not a problem, but the problem was how thick it was...and not hot. Room temp, super thick hollandaise is a bit off putting. The beer bread that was the base was surprisingly good and held up to the egg and sauce well. The side salad was tasty, with different than standard toppings, which I appreciate. I think it's a bit ridiculous to charge $8 for a side salad sub though. Ouch. I'll prob give them another shot, eventually, but skip the blanket of hollandaise.
I cannot wait to go back. Cozy quaint little spot and very busy on a Sunday morning. You walk in and order and then you're able to find a table. Great service, friendly, attentive staff. The food and the presentation was absolutely amazing super flavorful and hit all the right notes. Extensive menu two for lots of options. I'm really looking forward to returning. What a wonderful place to come and get your grub on. Came here with friends for breakfast. Love their food. I enjoyed the atmosphere and service. Very fun and welcoming. Highly recommend the lavender iced mocha. My friends enjoyed the biscuits n gravy. Definitely coming back. read more
Succotash is such a cute and cozy little spot. We came on a weekday, fairly early, so it wasn't overly busy, but I could see that being totally different on the weekend. You order at the counter and choose your own seat. The food was really good, I couldn't finish the plate and I was full pretty much all day. The coffee wasn't my favorite. I can't really put my finger on what I didn't like, but that just means next time I order from their juices. I would definitely come back, and if you haven't tried them yet, you really should. read more

Grabbed breakfast at Succotash today. I ordered the Southwest Sink and my husband had the Swedish Pancakes. They were both amazing! The potatoes on the sink were crispy and the flavors are great. The portions are very large and service is fast. My only complaint is getting full too fast and not being able to eat more! read more

This place is super cute! My friends and I walked in randomly on a Saturday for breakfast and we had a group of 11 people. The staff was very nice to us and it was easy for us to find seating. On top of this the food we ordered came out quickly and everything was delicious! I don't have much else to say other than the service was awesome, the food was great, and the coffee was made perfectly! If you're looking for a sit down breakfast place in KC I would definitely check this place out! read more
This place is a real, old-fashioned diner. The pancakes are bigger than your head, and everything that I have had here has been great. We had the short stack and the Southwest Kitchen sink, and the proportions were huge. I would definitely recommend sharing any plates, or planning to take leftovers home! I was not super impressed with the iced coffee, so I would recommend getting a normal cup of coffee or juice. read more
I can't do dairy so I did the vegan French toast. The toast itself was not sweet but overall good (tasted vegan). Eggs were great. Salmon Benedict was good, but could have used for capers and hollandaise sauce. Lavender latte hit the spot read more

This was a terrific breakfast. The neighborhood was fun and the staff and patrons were diverse and friendly. This is counter service and they bring out your food. There is a coffee station for free refills and cream and sugar. The service was fast. The whole experience was quirky and fun. read more
Overall, it's a solid breakfast/brunch place in Kansas City. The Cake & a Smile pancake with the addition of blueberries was delicious, and the pancake was huge. However, the sausages were yummy but not that special. As for the inside, it had a trendy hipster look into it. read more

I had the BLT, amazing cheese pull, so good. My daughter got the Elvis, the caramelized bananas were the bomb with peanut butter, so delicious! We sat outside beautiful fall day. Service was quick we arrived after the rush. Very cute place, highly recommend! read more

Stopped by Succotash for brunch with a friend a few months ago. It's been a few years since my last visit and it's still just as busy. If memory serves, logistics are a bit different - you now order at the counter, seat yourself, and the food is delivered. We waited in line for a while but the food was delivered quickly after sitting down. There are a couple vegan options - I ordered the Vegan Sink which I enjoyed and was a generous enough portion size to need a to-go box. Overall, a great option for weekend brunch - especially if you're not a reservation person or forgot to make one elsewhere. read more
