10/10 for a stop in or a quick pickup. This local business places community and health at the top of their priorities and has the juice to back it up. If you're into health, delicious bites and supporting local - this is a must try!

English muffin egg and sausage breakfast sandwich

Bravo to Ruby Jeans as its four stars for every inch of this business. Color fills the exterior of the building, front, side and back where they've created one of the best outdoor hang outs. Food and service always excellent. Today had an English Muffin breakfast sandwich with vegan sausage, scrambled eggs (you have choices how to be cooked) diced peppers, sautéd onions and cheese for $10.00 Yummy!

Java Butter Smoothie

First time coming to Ruby Jeans, I've only ever seen their juices at different shops so when I was driving by I knew I had to stop and give it a try. Firstly, the way they styled the shop is so cute. They also differ from the generic smoothie place by not having any blenders or ingredients in the front of house. They make your smoothie in the back kitchen and the bring it to you when ready which I thought made the experience more elevated than common smoothies shops. I ended up getting the java Butter smoothie because I was drawn to the cold brew and dates part and let me tell you, this is the best smoothie I've had in months. I'm a big tropical cafe girl but, Ruby Jeans gives them a run for their money! Their smoothies are about $10 and up, making it a couple dollars more than regular places but it is SO worth it and it makes sense why. I'll definitely be back!

Ruby's is a place you can go that not only has amazing, good for you food and drinks, but an amazing story as well. Chris started this in honor of his grandma. The juices can be found all over Kansas City, but the menu items (including the acai bowl I got) is worth the trip in their restaurant. All of the juices are great, even if some of the ingredients don't sound like they would taste good, trust me, they do. The juice I got was called A Few Too Many and it was delicious (and I don't like beets). Highly recommend that you go check them out.

I finished a workout next to Rubys and decided to stop in for a healthy smoothie. I got the cherry bomb which was packed with nutrients and very tasty! The space was very welcoming and even people I did not know were saying hey to me which I really appreciate! The space is gorgeous and gives me a good feeling every single time.

A fantastic health food spot. Great for a pick me up or a light bite! I absolutely love all of the clean and healthy ingredients offered here. Everything we ordered was so tasty and well worth the stop! They are also extremely clean here. You see them make and clean everything. If you have any allergy concerns, this place will take it seriously! The only thing that could've been better was the timing of our food. We got two of our meals and almost finished them before the third person even got her acai bowl.

Stopped in Ruby's to get myself a couple of juices and a protein shake after a workout! My faves from Hot 103 Jamz were there supporting Operation Breakthrough. I love this space. It's bright and welcoming and always love their menu items! Definitely check them out!

Finally some healthy food after trying 2 bbq restaurants that wasn't to my satisfaction. I was very pleased with Ruby Jean. The staff was professional and helpful, the restaurant was nicely decorated and very clean and the veggie bowl and juice was delish. Will definitely be back before I leave town.

Big Chief

I came here while I was at an event and decided to try out one of the smoothies. The one I try was called the big chief, which, if I can remember correctly, had agave, strawberries, bananas, and almond milk. That smoothie was amazing! I want to say I paid $10 for it which is on pricey side. I wanted to try the nachos and a couple other items, but they close down for the day while I was at the event. I do plan on coming back to try some different items, but one thing I will say is aesthetic of the place is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to really experience Ruby Jeans.

Vegan Sweet Potato Curry Bowl

Love Ruby Jean's! The world truly needs more places like this, with an array of healthy food options and delicious juices. Seriously, my wife and I are obsessed with their juices and thankfully we've found them also available at Whole Foods and McClain's. Their space is inviting and calming, with friendly service, a chill lounge area, outdoor seating, and vibrant decor. It was a difficult choice from the looks of all their great options and I went with the sweet potato curry bowl. It tasted so FRESH and I really enjoyed it. Only complaint was it was served scalding hot. Only other complaint is we wish we could buy the juice in larger portions! My wife said she wants a gallon for her birthday.

Still one of my favorite places to get some of the most healthiest meals, drinks, desserts, , smoothies, and wellness shots. Everyone is always smiling and welcoming. I love the art and the ambiance of plants galore!

Friendly. Cozy. Healthy. Looking for a quaint spot to get a healthy meal or snack? Look no further. This is such a great gem in town. The staff here was so friendly and welcoming. The peanut butter protein rounds and avocado toast were so delicious. The Java Butter smoothie was a nice way to round everything out. The oatmeal was unique in a sense that it was not overwhelmingly sweet but had a lot of flavor. Nicely done, yall!

My coworker was craving an acai bowl so I said - I know just the place! We went to Ruby's and immediately loved the energy! The fun, colorful aesthetic and storytelling for Ruby Jean's would make anyones day. We ordered at the counter. Staff was helpful and we didn't feel rushed. The comfortable furniture and energetic atmosphere made it an easy wait. I loved getting to watch the fresh fruit being cut and juiced behind the counter. Our food and juices came out quickly. Next time I'll avoid any juices with beets in it because I personally find beets so incredibly earthy and overpowering - but that's a personal issue and overall everything was totally delicious - and healthy! Food is fuel!

My husband incidentally found this place and, as he is warming up to vegan food, wanted to try it…read moreout. He made the right choice!!! Not that I doubted him, ha ha. The interior is clean and well-decorated. The restaurant also has paintings for sale. Our waitress was very friendly and always smiling!!! For our entrees, I ordered the honey mustard chick'n sammy. It consists of a chick'n patty, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, red onion, and mayo on ciabatta and served with honey mustard on the side. I ordered mine without the red onion. Believe me when I say that the patty tastes just like chicken, only less dense! The sandwich was delicious! For my side, I ordered the mac and cheese. Once again, you'd never know the difference between vegan mac and cheese vs. regular mac. The macaroni noodles were perfectly cooked and the "cheez" sauce was very creamy and had both black pepper and garlic powder. Garlicky and spicy, one of the best combinations!!! My husband ordered the buffalo mac wrap with a side of tater tots. He loved both of them! I tried the buffalo chick'n and it was very moist and not too overwhelmingly vinegary like you sometimes get when you order something with buffalo sauce on it. I also tried the tater tots and they were perfectly crisp and not greasy at all! Tree Hugger, you have gained two more customers!!! We will definitely be back!!! Keep up the great work!!!

The one thing everyone said to me when I announced I was traveling to Kansas City: "You gotta try…read morethe BBQ!" Clearly, many people forgot or don't know that I'm vegan. What they don't realize is that I'm still getting my BBQ, just maybe not the places they are thinking of! KC doesn't seem to have many vegan restaurants, but I was determined to support them all during my week-long trip. So I made the drive from downtown to Tree Hugger. Cute little restaurant in a mostly empty shopping center with plenty of parking. I am overwhelmed by the options, but decided to try the BBQ Sandwich made with pulled jackfruit. The rich pulled jackfruit is combined with creamy coleslaw, jalapeños, and fried onion strings. The jackfruit is delicious! Great texture, rich and slightly sweet. The bread is super soft, and the fried onions add a great texture. Unfortunately, to me, the jalapeños were too overpowering, and I didn't think the extra flavor and spice were needed. I would order without them next time. It is also a very heavy dish. I don't think I was prepared for how filling and heavy this dish is. I barely ate half and couldn't eat another bite! But hey, that makes it a great deal if I can get 2 portions out of it. Very friendly staff, and you can tell there's a lot of love put into this restaurant. Extra kudos to the fact that they have compost receptacles!!

I tried Cafe Gratitude for the first time a few years ago, and I haven't stopped thinking about this place since. They provide more than just food... it's a whole EXPERIENCE. I've always been very warmly greeted at the front entrance. Sometimes while visiting, I've had a short wait. Other times are more empty, such as when there's a Chiefs game. All of the employees are extremely kind, personable, and welcoming. Service has truly never lacked for me here. You will notice right away that every menu item is an affirmation. At the top of the menu, it says, "I Am..." and each drink, appetizer, and entree is a positive word. As your food is delivered, they tell you your affirmation. For example, if I ordered the Warm Hearted bowl, they would say, "You are Warm Hearted." Even the water pitchers at each table have affirmative words on them. It's the little things like this that make Cafe Gratitude so special! Also, as you're placing your order, your server will leave your table with a "question of the day" that you can reflect upon and discuss with others. My partner and I love these prompts while we're waiting on our food. There's also a deck of special cards at each table that have additional questions for reflection! I try to order a different menu item every time I visit, so I've enjoyed a little bit of everything at this point. For appetizers, you have to try the Plentiful (chili). While I've never had anything here that I didn't love, my top favorite entrees would have to be Terrific (raw pad thai bowl), Warm Hearted (Italian polenta and squash noodles), and Whole (macrobiotic bowl). I also love Grateful, also known as their community bowl. If you need financial assistance with this bowl, you may pay a sliding scale of $3-11. If you want to contribute to someone else, you can pick an amount and set it aside for someone in need. I wish more businesses did this! During my most recent visit, I decided to try Transformed (tacos), which include sweet potatoes, black beans, guacamole-style hummus, pico de gallo, and cashew nacho cheese on organic corn tacos. They were delicious, but I'll probably stick to my bowls next time! It came with a side salad that wasn't anything super special but still full of flavor. The walls of the restaurant are covered in local art that rotates regularly and is available for purchase. The space itself is very cute and cozy. I read more about Cafe Gratitude's story on their website, and much of the interior is upcycled. For example, many of the light fixtures are made of old wine and vodka bottles. At the host stand, they have Cafe Gratitude postcards that you can write a message on, and they'll mail them out for you. The flavors of everything here is unmatched. Such unique combinations that my heart so happy. I always leave here feeling so fulfilled.

Their new hours are on a piece of print out paper taped to their wall, so if they could update their hours in more places and/or have a very visible open sign, that would help!
