Mmmm! These hash browns are worth the trip! Best ever! Get there early as this is a small classic diner and fills up quickly! Just good hot meal served by friendly staff! Nothing fancy about the place but man some good grub!
Awesome breakfast! Came here two days in a row because it was that good! One time we ordered the biscuits and gravy, and Dagwood sandwich, the other time we ordered the country fried steak with a breakfast burrito. All the food was delicious! Biscuits and gravy were flavorful and plentiful. The Dagwood sandwich was loaded and probably was the favorite. The country fired steak was good and plenty of food. The breakfast burrito with chorizo was ok, not great and honestly left more to be desired. Overall still a great place to get your breakfast fix!
For almost 90 years Dagwood's has served KCK's Rosedale neighborhood. A lot of neighborhood style greasy spoons have come and went - Nichols' Sanderson's, Sydney's, Waid's, Marcy's,Chubby's... but Dagwood's and a small handful of others continue the tradition of booth and counter seating while creating all the basic breakfast and lunch staples that we all need and crave. Burgers, omelets. B&G... I stopped this past Sunday to do a bit of Tenderloin therapy. I've been on a bit of a rampage / fact finding mission with this Midwestern staple and Dagwood's offering was above average. Tender, breaded well, tons of fresh toppings (lettuce, onion, pickles, tomato) and horseradish for the asking. Large and reasonably priced. Don't forget the fries AND rings basket - you can have both! My water was kept filled and waitresses were pleasant and efficient. A solid 4 on all fronts.
This place is great. It's an old fashioned diner. A place for any walk of life. Atmosphere was simple. Service was very attentive. Solid menu - went for breakfast but lunch looked good. Biscuits and gravy were awesome. Sausage was spicy in a great kick way, not overpowering. Pancakes were huge - very soft and fluffy. Overall great place. I won't complain about parking but be patient though.
Stepping back in time with nostalgic vibes, Dagwood Café offers a delightful experience reminiscent of the past. I appreciate the old-school diner atmosphere and the variety of breakfast and dinner options available. I ordered the half portion of chicken fried steak, and my husband particularly enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. Both dishes reminded us of the home-cooked meals from our grandparents.
best food! always good service is classic diner and fun. VERY busy on sat and sunday morning. They stop call in orders after 9am that helps a lot with turnover.

Excellent local diner - as I expected. You can't be in business for nearly 100 years and not be excellent. What was also excellent was the price! Inflation hasn't hit hard here. I had a biscuit and gravy (excellent slightly spicy gravy), bacon, hash browns (fried crispy) and an egg over medium. They kept my cup of coffee full, which made for a relaxing and enjoyable brunch.
A cozy, delicious diner! Felt like I was on Route 66 in the Cars movie. Lisa was so friendly, and it was a homely feeling. No wonder they have so many loyal regulars! Food was incredible, special shoutout to the biscuits and gravy, chicken Philly omelette, and the chocolate chip pancake!
2 time around and it was verrry good. Staff was super efficient considering how busy it was. The ingredients were some of the best , bacon was fantastic. Great breakfast.
first off love the old diner feels, prices are great just like the portions! got some blueberry pancakes, and the chorizo breakfast skillet with gravy! loved the skillet will definitely be back for one of those! service was good they all work really well as a team!
This is probably the closest diner you get to in Kck unless you go to Waffle House. It's a great spot to get good, quick, and diner food! The service is exactly what you would expect from a diner. Take your order and help out minimally but that's why you go to a diner! Check it out for sure!!

Absolutely love this breakfast place. It's a little hole in the wall service was fabulous. Lisa did a great job. Food was great as well. Definitely a place that I will be returning to. We had the breakfast burrito and French toast meal. read more

Outstanding!!! Counter service and booth seating. Feels like you took a DeLorean back to the 50s. Omelettes are all egg (no filler) with perfectly grilled veggies etc. Come early on weekends if you don't want to join the masses waiting for their turn. read more
Diner.Local.KC AHHHH...Mazing! Must try diner that is not a new joint but a home joint! This place takes you back to the true diner experience, small and quaint and personal service. Come in and seat yourself there are booths for 2 or 4 and tables for 2 to 6. Fits all sizes of parties. Now the great part the food is great. We only snapped a couple of pictures but we were part of a large party and pretty much felt like we tried everything on the menu Tip - biscuit and gravy the 1/2 order is more than enough. read more

Been looking for a good hot beef sandwich. I just found it. Traveled 45 minutes to get here. The sweet waiter took my order while I talked on the phone (yeah - I know - rude of me but she read my sign language like a champ!) when she brought the plate she said they didn't seem to have to much gravy so she had them add more. Just the ticket! Definitely a "greasy spoon" - my favorite! read more
Best breakfast I've had in a long time! We got it to go on Friday. I got the dagwoods sandwich which is basically two grilled cheese with hashbrowns mixed in with different meat in between them and covered with gravy. It was so good I'm getting hungry just thinking about it again. read more

Slingin' it since before your grandad was born (1938!), Dagwood's is still delivering sturdy breakfast and lunch fare and keeping the anachronistics front and center. You are not going to find avocado toast here, nor pressed juices with kale and other antioxidants, no, quite the opposite. In fact, you're probably going to find all the oxidants here! And guess what, health crowd: an egg ain't gonna hurt you, fried or otherwise, and the Greeks said 'everything in moderation'. It's a DINER, not a bistro or gastropub. Sidle up to the counter and get yourself a hot cup of fresh coffee, fillable every time you drain the mug. The menu is not vast, but what they do, they do WELL. Dive into the Dagwood, an egg sandwich with your choice of meat nestled in between two slices of toast, served either with a side of gravy or smothered over the top. Or try the Double Dagwood, which is not for the faint of heart nor light of stomach, as it is all three of the breakfast meats smashed together with an egg and in between toast. True breakfast diner aficionados should opt for the Irish Dagwood, which features corn beef hash and marble rye! My wife's omelet (Swiss & shrooms) was 1) enormous and 2) pleasantly fluffy! Also, pro tip: get yourself a house-made biscuit on the side. Maybe the fluffiest biscuit in town, and there is some stout biscuit competition in these parts! Easy to park of SW Blvd., friendly staff, quick service (like Jetsons-fast), and a great experience! read more

Homestyle breakfast, we ate at the bar and our service was great! The parking lot is crowded so get there early. Our food was fine, will go back and order differently. Super cute inside it looks like an old school diner. read more

Brunchin n' Lunchin - Dagwood's Cafe It took me long enough! Those 5 words have never been more true regarding this adorable, quaint diner almost hidden on one end of southwest boulevard. I had passed Dagwood's Cafe time and time again but had never, until a recent Sunday, ventured inside the restaurant. Inside the tiny space...and I do mean TINY, one step down and you come face to face with a classic diner style counter and on the opposite wall there are a few booths. My breakfast partner and I slid into an empty booth early Sunday morning and man were we HUNGRY, it could or could not be because of extracurricular activities from the evening before, but after reading the menu we knew we had come to the right place. My eyes flickered over corned beef hash, a bevy of breakfast sandwiches, homemade biscuits and gravy and all the classic diner options including 2 eggs anyway you like. Instantly I had decided upon a decadent sounding, and definitely high in the carb department, Irish Dagwood sandwich, which who would have thought, my breakfast date also set his sights on. We also just had to split a half order of the biscuits and gravy, which did not disappoint us at all, and added to our carb dense meal (just what the doctor ordered for nursing a hangover). When the sandwiches arrived the marble rye bread was glistening with butter from the flat top and the fatty melt in your mouth corned beef hash was piled high and a blanket of succulent swiss cheese was peeking out the side needless to say this was the prescription the doctor order. The hash browns were also crisped nicely, no small feat. By the time I have dove into my sandwich I almost forgot the mound of biscuits and gravy placed in between us but, no man was left behind and the slightly doughy biscuits and savory salty white sausage gravy was the perfect ending to a delicious meal. The food was fast and exactly what you expect from a tiny neighborhood diner, Dagwood's doesn't disappoint! read more
