Burger and fries
Christina B.

My son and I had brunch the other day. We were seated promptly and had good service from our waitress. Our good came out in a decent amount of time. I had a pick 4 of breakfast items and my son had their cheeseburger and fries and a coffee. He said his food was good. My eggs and sausage and hash browns were good. The bathroom could be a bit cleaner and the front desk cashier was somewhat rude. But the food was generally good and our regular waitress was nice and attentive. I wish they did have at least a gluten free English muffin or toast for a breakfast option or sandwich.

This is probably one of the best brunch spots in mission and north OP. The service is extremely fast and the food is amazing. You might get there and the line looks 30 people long, but they move fast in and out of the kitchen. The inside is a classic diner feel without the long diner bar seating. I usually get the California skillet because it's just one of the best things on the menu but also the pancakes are soooooo good.

How I've lived in KC for 8 years and not been to VI will remain a mystery to me. Decor is cozy and retro with an MCM vibe. They have a mix and match breakfast where you can order 4 different things. So my husband and I pulled a silver fox grandparent move and split it. I had the French toast, bacon with a side of scrambled eggs. He had turkey sausage and scrambled eggs. Turkey sausage option was great as husband is allergic to pork. The French toast was both crisp and pillowy- exactly what I had hoped for. Service was prompt and I liked that when we ordered coffee they leave a small Pot on the table. We had breakfast for around $20 minus tip- not bad for a breakfast date!

We've been looking for a cozy diner-type of place for a while. FPO read about this place and was really excited to try it out. The restaurant was very clean with the exception of their ceiling fans. It looked like they just recently replaced the carpet tiles and ceiling tiles. The booths also looked recently redone. It was late-ish afternoon and a little on the slow side. We were greeted as soon as we entered and shown to a booth. It was Red Friday and many of the staff had on their Chiefs gear. Sally was our server and she was very nice. Friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items she made helpful recommendations. FPO had the double blueberry pancakes with sausage and a side of bacon and was very impressed with everything ordered. I had the Smothered Chicken Dinner. Because everything up to this point had gone so well, I wanted to like the food more than I actually did. The chicken breasts were dry and needed seasoning. The green beans were canned and mushy. The Texas toast tasted like sweetbread that was coated in a liquid margarine before being fried on a flat top (really greasy). I will say, the mashed potatoes and gravy helped offset the dryness of the chicken. FPO can't wait to go back again, either to have pancakes again or maybe try the French Toast or one of their pies. I think I'm going to need a little more time.

It's a home style place to go for a quick meal. The service was nice and accommodating to our large party. Prices aren't too bad, but +$4 for a small cinnamon roll was a no for me. I went with the turkey bacon avocado sandwich. And with the side of onion rings it was delicious. The portions were a good size and we left very satisfied.

After fasting for a lab I was ready for breakfast and coffee so I picked up my husband and we headed to Village Inn. I ordered spinach bacon omelette which was superb and the coffee served in a carafe which was right up my alley. K was our server and she was very good and stayed on top of everything. The only complaint was the fries my husbands burger was child sized.. fries are not that costly so a few more would have been better for a $12 burger and fries

Disregard every preconceived notion you have ever had about this place and realize that you just might be missing out on some of the best comfort food in town! I have friends who make fun of me for eating here, but the joke is on them. Breakfast is always spot on, with awesome, crispy, hashbrowns (one of my favorite things in life). The eggs benedict is simply perfect! I like to ask them to run my english muffin through twice because I prefer it a tad on the crunchy side. For lunch, the turkey and avocado sandwich will make you think Martha Stewart is in the kitchen slicing up turkey breasts to build you a delicious masterpiece. When it's time for dinner, don't miss your chance to have Thanksgiving anytime of the year with their "Slow Roasted Turkey" (hand-carved turkey breast served with cornbread stuffing, red skin mashed potatoes and turkey gravy, cranberry sauce and a fresh-baked buttermilk biscuit). It will make you miss your family - unless you don't like your family - then, you'll just be glad to have turkey dinner without any of the holiday drama. Did I mention they have pie? If you haven't tried Village Inn, it's time to throw caution to the wind and wrap yourself in comfort with a scrumptious home cooked meal.

Ahh, just down the street from my home.. Village Inn. I have probably passed this place for years through days of driving to highschool, college, and now work. Today I finally tried it. For $10.29 I got EVERYTHING i could have wanted for breakfast. Eggs, Sausage, French Toast & Biscuit with gravy. I can't say many bad things besides this place being a diner for people that are well, older I guess. Didn't spot anyone below the age of 45-50 in here besides the waiters. Service was prompt. I will be coming back here!

Mothers Day breakfast- busy, however, the hard working staff handled the volume well. Good food as usual and well worth the wait!

The set up is perfect all TVs were on and the speakers were tuned into the game with music at commercial breaks! Beers and drinks were great! Unfortunately the bartenders complaining about how slow it was, politics, and other drama definitely took away from the experience. Debbie downers aside we were locked in for a good game which also failed... not 30hop fault!! Lol But my most disappointing item of the night was my order. We all ordered at the same time but separate tickets. One got the noodles other got a burger. I got the nachos add green chili pork. My estimation is mine was made while the other dishes were cooked? Everything on my plate was cold. It was tasty but colder than I thought it should be. Even the cheese sauce was basically solidified. I am not a send my food back guy but really didn't matter they never asked me how it was. I will be back again since I really enjoyed my visits here and especially the Lee Summit location. Plus the flower child is still one of my favorite cocktails. Think I will pick a different time than Sunday night too.

Upon arriving, we noticed that they had a lot of cute tributes to the late Dolly Parton. She was an awesome and inspirational woman and so it was really nice to see these tributes to her. This morning (Sunday) we stopped in at 10:00am for brunch. We will definitely be doing that again. I had the avocado toast and my husband got the chicken fried steak breakfast. Both were great! Pretty good eats, great specials, and a full bar makes for a solid dining option for solos, couples, or families. You'll find Murphy's Corner nestled into a strip center facing 87th. The owner apparently did catering prior to opening this space and you can certainly tell with the food. The menu has lots of options, from standard pub fare to housemade pizza to some rather artisanal salads. I'd suggest the chicken sandwich, hand-breaded and fantastic. Or even the Hinkle, roast beef & thinly cut pork tenderloin with a sweet pepper aioli, is a fabulous sandwich. But don't miss that happy hour from 2:00-6:00 on weekdays. The smashburger special runs $6 for a single, and even that is a fair-sized burger, and maybe share a side with someone special. The smashed patty(s) come with the usual accoutrements, including a 'special sauce' that makes the smash a smash. Secret of the pros: get two patties, because it's worth the extra $3 and it's sensational. If there is any knock, then it might be the speed of service. Having stopped in several times, I don't think I have ever had the kind of turnaround that I can get many other places. But the food often makes it worth the wait, so I can only knock it for one star. Pricing is fair and certainly on the level with the area, parking is shared with other spots along the strip, and the atmosphere is wonderful. There are a TON of TVs in all directions, and you can even sit on the patio in nicer weather. It's a neighborhood spot with great food, great atmosphere, and great specials. Get there.
